I've used several Ames products and none have disappointed me. My latest purchase was Blue Max. My fifty three year old cypress cistern was starting to leak so I applied several thin coats of the Blue Max and all is good. Exceeded my expectations and well worth the cost. Maybe I'll get another fifty three years of rain water capture.

I applied 3 5-gallon buckets of Ames Max Flex waterproof coating over my 30 year old 3 tab shingles in preparation to add solar panels to my roof. This greatly improved the condition of shingles and created a single waterproof durable membrane over the entire roof. This is a great product that will extend the life of the asphalt shingles that I have on my roof. The solar company approved the new covering vice having to reshingle the roof.

Have used Ames coatings for years, sealing my 20 year old asphalt/fiber roof, wooden stockade fence, wooden shed for emergency generator, 30 year old clothes line poles, and all trim on our brick facade home with the "terra cotta" color....

Excellent product, customer service and instructions from Gene at Ames Research Laboratories. Coatings were used on the roof of a historic railroad Pullman car. As the general contractor, Gene asked me many questions regarding the use to make sure the product was suitable, talked me through the correct application, and then, provided similar guidance to my painter right prior to the application. Highly recommended and, most importantly, our client was very happy with the result. Thank you!

2-21-25 Update: Job completed, went on super fast. Lots of heavy rain, no leaks..it works! (Happy about that!). Great product in my opinion.

I highly recommend the Ames Safe-T-Deck product. I applied 3 coats to my existing concrete pool deck following the recommended prep work. This is a very thick product that rolls on very easily. My deck is 1700 sq. ft. and it took me about 4 hours to apply each coat waiting 24 hours between coats. Our temperatures are now in the 100 to 103 degrees range and we are very pleased how cool the deck surface is. No flip flops required since the Ames Light Beige product is doing it's job!
I'm attaching a photo. My wife and I have four grown daughters and a total of 12 Grandkids. We all love it!

The product states it is granulated but I can’t see any grains in it. Coverage is misleading as well. I have put 3 coats of blue max a layer of fabric and 3 coats of safe T deck and still can see the osb board. I spent over $1000 and had to add my own aggregate to it to make it cover and have the texture I wanted. Not impressed with the product. I do believe it does water proof as advertised.

Great product! Easy to use works great. All you need is a calking gun. I also use the trowel grade it works great for bigger fill in's.

This stuff works really well! So easy to apply with a roller brush and 4 foot handle, used as a top coat over Ames' rubber base. the only issue I see is a tendency to bubble in small areas, but that is not surprising in our heat and humidity(south Louisiana). the performance is not affected as far as I can tell, we will continue to use Ames products on our flat roof. Thanks for such an effective solution to our roof sealant needs.

Great customer service team, very helpful, and an excellent company. I have been working on a summer roof project with their BlueMax product and couldn't be happier with the results. Will definitely recommend them to others.

Very thick and sticky. Wished the removal backing was cut in the middle of the tape to make inside corners easier to apply. Covers nicely with the Ames product. Excellent for flat seams and outside corners, very hard to work with for inside corners.

Absolutely the best primer for exterior projects. It sticks to metal, concrete, wood and lots of other surfaces. It's my go to fix all primer.

The product was well packaged and arrived undamaged. The product is easy to apply and dries quickly. I will purchase again soon. Everything that is described in the description is factual.

Ames Capstone Granite is performing well on several of my real estate investments!

As an owner of several hillside investment properties, I have had several projects in the past few years with extensive new poured concrete and existing masonry block retaining walls. All needing a decorative and protective coating system.

I had concerns regarding adhesion, color retention, and durability due to my past my experience of utilizing many types of coatings on residential and commercial structures over the past 50 years.

My approach on these projects was to consult with the Technical Staff at Ames Research regarding the jobsite conditions. Their team recommended specific surface prep and application considerations for my projects in addition to the Application Guides they had available.

As a result of their specific recommendations, I considered all existing conditions that could affect the outcome of my project before starting any work. This guidance afforded me the opportunity to improve how I installed drainage systems on one of the projects behind the retaining walls.

I completed the first project in the summer of 2020 then moved ahead with the second in the summer of 2021 after reviewing the first project's performance over all four seasons here in Southern Oregon.

Both projects are performing very well after their respective one and two years of exposure with excellent adhesion, color retention, and durability. A major plus is the finished appearance of the multicolor finish. It has the appearance of sandblasted granite without the expense!

Nice place, friendly people, unloaded me fast! 8:am appt (got there early) and was unloaded with paperwork sent in by 8:21am! Funky little dock to get into but it works!

Website was easy to navigate, good information on the product, easy check out. We are using the Ames super primer and Safe-T-Deck Paint. We have a very large deck and to redo the deck now is to costly. Using the Super Primer and Deck Paint, I think I have saved my deck for another 5-7 years. As of now, I am a customer for life.

Fantastic products and top notch factory support from Larry. I used the Blue Max as base coats and SafeT Deck for top coats on my roof deck. Very important to do your prep work and make sure you are not trapping moisture under this product. It is rubber and moisture underneath may cause bubbles once the surface heats up. Also important to apply in low humidity and warm weather. Do it right and its awesome. Do it wrong and you could have issues! Thank you Ames Research!

BUYER BE AWARE - I purchased 9
5 gallons of the Ames Liquid Granite from HomeDepot to do an 800 square feet deck in the state of Georgia, followed the application instructions exactly, all went well until the weather got warmer and hot sun hit the deck the product bubbled up into golf size balls all over hundreds of them and became sticky/gummy in the evening when the sun goes down bubbles become smaller and no longer sticky. Complained to Home Depot and Ames they said I should have read the product warranty that DOES NOT HOLD THEM LIABLE for any issues with the product after spending $2900.00 in liquid granite, primer and tape per their specifications, now I have to go research an new product to redo my deck.☹️☹️☹️

I have used the peal & stick seam tape to stop leaks in a bucket that had water pouring out of a hole. I carry it on the boat just in case.

I have used ElastoBarrier and Safe-T-Deck to recover a plywood roof deck, and BlueMax to water-proof a wooden water storage tank and a ceramic block wall. All have worked as expected and without fail.

DO NOT BUY - BLUE MAX - DOES NOT WORK

The Blue Max product they sale, claiming it blocks all odors, is a lie.

The claim they have a 100% satisfaction, is a lie.

I had to remove all of the Blue Max product because it never hardened, it stayed like a soft substance that absorbed the odors, making the floor even more toxic than when i started.

Pete is completely and totally incompetent. He asked me if the slab is vertical or horizontal? There is no such thing as a vertical slab. Pete does not know what he is doing. Very unprofessional

Do not buy Blue Max for odor control. It does not work.
