Almost 8hrs away from home & had a wheel bearing go bad. Called the day before service telling them my situation. Was told they start @700am!! Low and behold I was there at 630am. When I got there at that time I was greeted with a garage door opening. Got me in and out in no time. Thank you Eric for making feel welcomed & home!! Thank you Allen Tillery for a top notch dealership and service dept!! I'D HIGHLY RECOMMEND‼️‼️
Why I Chose Allen Tillery — And Why I Regret It And Why I can't even give you 1 star but Google insists on at least 1 star.
Let me start by explaining why I chose Allen Tillery in the first place. My car had some intermittent issues, especially when it was hot outside. I first took it to a local mechanic here in Amity—Anthony Holcombe—and I made it very clear:
“I can’t be without my car for months.”
He told me he’d get to it the following week.
Well, three weeks went by, and I still hadn’t heard anything. I called to ask for a quote, and he said the mechanic had already ordered a part and was waiting for it to arrive.
(Why would you order parts before I even approved a quote?)
I waited another two weeks, then went there in person to ask again. He told me,
“I have it, but it’s on my laptop at home.”
Fine. I gave him my email and said, “Please send it to me—I’ve been waiting over a month.”
Another two weeks went by. Now it had been more than two months. I went in again and asked,
“Where’s my quote?”
His response:
“Oh, I see what happened—I sent it to the wrong email address.”
I knew that wasn’t true. All he had to do was click “Reply” to my email. At that point, I’d had enough. I used my spare key and took my car back.
I told my son,
“I can’t deal with these lies and this terrible service. I’m just going to take it to Allen Tillery, where I won’t get screwed over.”
So I finally took my car to Allen Tillery, feeling relieved that I might actually get some answers. I dropped it off on a Thursday, and they promised to have a diagnosis and quote by Monday.
Here we go again…
Monday came—no quote.
Same on Tuesday.
Same on Wednesday.
Nothing all week.
My son finally called them, and they gave him a quote: $6,100 for a locked torque converter and bad transmission. We told them, “No thanks.”
I went to the dealership in person and immediately sensed something was off. Every mechanic was sitting around—not one was working on a car. I went to the cashier to pay my bill. She couldn’t find it. After 20 minutes, she called me back, and I paid $241.98.
Apparently, they had done an oil change.
(Why would you perform an oil change if the transmission is supposedly shot?)
And they didn’t even reset the oil life indicator, nor did they put a new oil change sticker in the window. The old Walmart sticker is still there.
Allen Tillery is 45 miles from my house. I drove the car home—with the supposedly locked torque converter—and had zero issues. Since then, I’ve put another 200 miles on it with no signs of transmission failure.
At this point, I’d already wasted time and money, so I spent $550 to buy a LAUNCH X431 CRP919XBT OBD2 Scanner and diagnosed it myself.
The main problem?
C0035-0F: Left Front Wheel Speed Sensor Circuit – Erratic Signal
Here’s a list of the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) I pulled:
82705-05 Gearshift unlock circuit to battery open
2036 Internal electronic performance 2
1059 Communication fault
2037 Internal electronic performance 2
3039 Internal electronic performance 1
3017 Internal electronic performance 1
1052 Preload failure region 1
C0035-0F Left front wheel speed sensor circuit erratic
So thank you, Allen Tillery — the place I put my faith in to save me from a dishonest local mechanic — for lying to me again and costing me another week.
I will never go to Allen Tillery again, and I just hope they don’t take advantage of too many more people like they did me.
Austin Geeo was very helpful and easy to get along with! Everyone there was very kind and seemed genuinely nice.
