Summary: Very unresponsive company, with questionable repairs.
We purchased our home in March 2011 and they sold us a Home Warranty program with the house.
• May 27, 2011 - We noticed some leaks during the 1st heavy rain so we submitted a claim. They forwarded our claim to Adams Roofing Professionals.
• May 31, 2011 - It took 4 days for them to call and schedule time to look at the problem. It was Memorial Day weekend, so I gave them some leeway.
• June 6, 2011 - The guy that came out was very nice, checked out not only the problem area but the remainder of the roof listing out other small holes that should be addressed. This included pulling back some of the existing shingles, as well as the flat roof to repair damaged wood underneath. He took my $75 tradesman fee told me he had to go back to the office to write up an estimate. He explained that if the cost was above the deductible that the home warranty program would pay, my $75 would go towards it. I thought he was very professional, and in depth and hoped to hear back soon
• June 14, 2011 - I still had not heard back from Adams Roofing Professionals, so I called their office. The receptionist told me "So and so isn't in right now, but I will have them call you back by the end of the day". No one returned my call.
• June 17, 2011 - I called again and got the same story. "So and so is not in, I'll leave them a message and they will call you by the end of the day". Again, no phone call.
That same evening, I decided to send them an email through their site asking for a status update since no one would talk to me on the phone.
• June 21, 2011 - I received a call from them telling me the estimate for the roof and they were going to call up the warranty program to authorize the payment.
Later that day the warranty program called me for asking if I was OK with the estimate and charges, and if they should OK it. I said yes, go ahead.
After I hung up with the warranty program, I promptly called Adams back to schedule the repair to start. They sent someone out that day to have me sign the contract. The salesman told me "All of the work is on the outside of the house so you do not need to be home when they come since they don't need access inside the house."
• June 29, 2011 - They came to repair the roof.
That evening after work, I took my ladder out and went up on the roof to check the work. It was not even close to what I was told was going to happen.
The contract said they would take up 13' of my roof, replace all of the damaged wood beneath it, and put a new flat roof over the affected area. They removed about 8' of the roof and the wood underneath is still very soft as if it was never replaced. Plus, now the water puddles where they put up the new flat roof.
Not knowing it they 100% completed the job or not, i gave them the benefit of the doubt and waited to see if they would be coming back to do more work.
• July 7, 2011 - I received an invoice in the mail asking for payment.
• July 14, 2011 - I sent them an email asking them to have someone come out to the house and show me all of the work that was done before I paid their invoice.
• July 21, 2011 - 7 days later I received a 2nd notice invoice in the mail that says "We inspected the roofing work we completed on June 29, 2011. All work has been completed per our contract dated June 21, 2011"
No one had ever called me, set up an appointment to look over it with me as I asked for.
I will be paying the invoice in protest as I do not want a ding against my records, but given the choice in the future I will not be working with this company ever again.
