Bill Hayes is extremely professional. He went above and beyond helping me navigate the intricate details needed as a new landowner. Bill always returned calls promptly and is attentive to every detail. The quote that I was given for work was exactly what I paid. Bill did an amazing job clearing my land and putting in my driveway. Aardvark Escavating was recommended by several of Bills customers and I would highly recommend him as well.

We bought a house and the retaining wall where we parked our vehicles was not safe for my family, especially our toddler. Zimmer and Ryan came out and made it safe and secure. They worked in 5 degree weather, but made it happen in such amazing time!!! They were professional and precise! They even took away all the recycling from the job! They were also wonderful with being kind to our toddler son who wouldn’t leave the window while they were working! All around amazing experience which is something we will treasure for this being our first major Reno to our first home! Thank you guys so much!!!

I hired aardvark for site work and septic work for a new construction. He would harass me for payment before the job was ever started (just days after an invoice was received), saying he didn’t have money for personal recreation and my “delay” in payment would seriously impact his plans. He refused to finish the septic due it an unrelated permitting issue somewhere else on the property. I had to hire and pay for an entirely new company to finish the job and pay fines for destruction of the site (lack of silt fence etc.)Eventually it lead to him harassing me (a young woman) and screaming/cursing at me on my own property. The owner also made it very difficult for other contractors to work on the property, and was rude to many of our neighbors. This business is extremely unprofessional and the owner was unbelievably rude and difficult to work with.

Had them do some excavation work for a garage foundation. Right after they completed the work, they called and said they needed payment asap, so I paid only to find out after from both a separate contractor and inspector that their work was not done anywhere close to the professional standard. While I can't attest to their work with landscaping, driveways, etc. I have found them unprofessional and would not recommend them for foundation work.

Recently bought a house that lacked a yard because of overgrowth, large rocks, and old structures. Bill and crew made quick work in transforming it into a great play space for our kids with a beautiful stone wall installed. Bill is responsive, straightforward and professional!

Had 10+ trees removed by Bill and his crew this spring, just getting around to writing a review, they were here over 2 days to make sure that each tree and brush/logs/stumps were all handled to our standards. Very efficient, friendly and responsive. Would highly recommend if you need excavating or tree work in Vermont.

I would highly recommend Aardvark Excavating. They cleared our lot and added features to control the water that comes down the mountain as well. Bill responded quickly to my emails, and would touch base with us throughout the project to make sure the job was unfolding as intended. Aardvark has earned our trust and we'll definitely use them again in the future.

I emailed through the website, and Bill emailed me right off that same night. He called me the next day, and was able to bring his small excavator and do a test hole for us for a new leach field the very next day.

Bill was great. Had a smallish job to clear some property and take down trees to open up some view at our home. At a time when I couldn’t get anyone show up, Bill came by quickly, offered some great advice on how to execute the job, and within a week was here on the property doing great work. Wrapped the project quickly. Exceeded our expectations and the price was more than fair. And so far we’ve gotten a ton of comments about how great the property looks. I would highly recommend!

Aardvark did a terrific job on renovating the landscape around our new place in Stowe, while protecting the natural landscape and existing features. We fixed numerous drainage and erosion issues, built a bullet proof driveway, erected a gorgeous boulder wall and improved our pond.

We called Bill and his team to remove 14 extremely tall ash trees from our yard. He was here within a few hours to give us an estimate (for a very competitive price) and was able to begin work the very next day. I could not believe how quickly and precisely they had those trees down! These guys are highly experienced and very professional. We liked them so much, we actually decided after the first day to expand the scope of our project, so they have now also removed all the stumps, backfilled the holes, and leveled everything. They're currently harley raking, and finally, they'll hydroseed. They even offered to put in the cherry trees I picked up for the front yard, which will save me some digging! I would absolutely recommend them to anyone. We'll definitely call them again if we have another landscape project.
Bonus--they let my 3 year old son sit in the real excavator, which thrilled him beyond belief!

My wife and I own Northern Lights Lodge in Stowe. Over the past 9 years, Aardvark has completed many projects for us including demolition, driveway grading, and repairs to a berm along our river. Bill’s quality has always been fantastic and his prices very reasonable. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend aardvark to anyone.

Bill Hayes and his team Aardvark Excavating is highly recommended. Bill has completed 2 job for us and we are VERY pleased. Bill is quick to respond, knowledgeable, and completes work within his projected quote... his rates are very competitive, too! Bill cleared several roadside pines that were 30" to 40" in diameter, pulled the stumps, hauled away all material, back filled the holes with loam and Harley Raked the yard before seeding and laying down hay. You cannot even tell he was ever there with machinery! His most recent work was a small one but still, I called him on a Wednesday to put in a gravel base. He was on the site in an hour and had a machine there that evening. Dug out the 8" of mud, layed fabric, and hauled in 3/4 plant mix which was spread out, packed down and leveled with a slight crown to prevent water build up as this was at the bottom of a slope. Cleaned up the yard and was out by early that Friday morning! CALL BILL FOR YOUR NEEDS. He deserves a consult at the least!

Its an absolute no brainer. Aardvark Is best in the business. Excavating, tree work, driveway grading; whatever you may want done to your property. Bill and his team will meet, and exceed all your expectations. The quality of work is second to none. I highly recommend!!

I cannot speak more highly of Bill and his team at Aardvark. I had them at my home in Waitsfield to do a whole bunch of different site work. Bill responded to my initial inquiry right away, and was at my house for an estimate within a day. When it came to the work they went above and beyond. Aardvark Excavating recently completed clearing the stumps and slash from about 6-7 acres of my land after being logged. Bill Hayes is very knowledgeable and was prompt to give me an onsite visit. He reviewed various options. Being dependable and completing the proposed work was important to me. Bill pulled through. The work he and his crew performed was on time and without any equipment issues or excuses. In addition, the quality of the end result was excellent. Before he left the site he checked with me to make sure everything was to my satisfaction. We’ve discussed further work such as a driveway, and again I found Bill to be more knowledgeable and flexible than others. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with him again and would recommend Aardvark to others.

Site work for a hotel property in Stowe. They executed in a timely manner with great quality. Overall a very good value.

Bill Hayes and his crew at Aardvark Excavation just completed work on redoing our existing 400' driveway and putting in a nice two car turn around for three point turns.
They got rid of the existing washed pea stone surface, dug out a new road bed, filled in the roadway with 4"-6" of crashed ledge and "fines" and meticulously added topsoil along the edges and put down new grass seed over any of the sod areas that were removed.
From the outset it was a pleasure to deal with Aardvark Excavation. Bill came out the same day I contacted him about our project and provided a proposal that seemed reasonable and fair. Work commenced soon after that and just finished up today, well before the 4th of July deadline that I had requested. Throughout the process it was apparent that everyone involved was conscientious hard working and took great pride in their finished product. Although there were two or three different trucks excavators, skid steer excavators etc on site, there was minimal disruption to the surrounding area.
Aardvark definitely deserves a 5 STAR+ rating and I will certainly recommend them to others and call them again for any excavation services.

Highly recommended. We had severe storm damage over many acres taking down 1000's of trees. While we had a few others do logging and some clean up before bringing in Aardvark, Bill and co were the only ones who were consistently there when expected and their productivity was unmatched. His equipment is in good shape and he knows how to use it efficiently. For us he was mostly stumping and ground clearing and the results came faster and better than the competition. Expect we will have him back.

Aardvark did a great job on my project. They made my land clearing project grass seed ready and used stone from the property to build a retaining wall/rock garden. Great to work with.

Outstanding experience with Bill and his crew, very professional and courteous. I hired Aardvark to remove two giant pine trees (80+ feet) and a couple maples from my back yard. With a fence surrounding the property, pool and mound septic system there was little room for them to work with but they pulled the job off with no damage, even cleaned up every last branch! The crew arrived as promised and stuck to the original estimate. I plan on having Aardvark come back to do some additional excavator work. I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
