We’ve done two projects with Zenith. A partial basement finish/office in 2020 and now a kitchen remodel/addition in 2025. Our supervisor Jon was great to work with and always in constant contact during the project and issues were addressed timely. The team of Jon, Mark, Vic, Buddy and owner Nicholas were great to work with from start to finish! If we do another project will use Zenith again!

Zenith was a pleasure to work with. We met with Ben who talked us through all the options for building an addition on our home. Unfortunately we just couldn’t make the numbers work for investing in that particular property. If it had made more sense we would have signed on with Zenith to do our addition.

One thing that really struck me as a big selling point for their process is they purchase materials very early on in the project to ensure there is no supply chain disruption or sudden price shocks. We had one ask of Zenith on this project - make it look like the garage was part of the original house design - and they delivered! We are so happy with how our detached garage turned out. After following Zenith on socials since 2020, we were thrilled to get to work with them for our primary suite renovation. They turned what was a janky half bath en suite into a gorgeous retreat with two vanities and a double shower. Amy (designer) immediately understood our vision and desire to honor the spirit and style of our 1940 home. She found finishes that were *chefs kiss* perfect. Could not have loved her more. Our project was managed by Tyler, and we appreciated his high standards for work product. He and Buddy did us a major solid when our water heater--something we decided not to replace during the project--broke, and they came to the house Labor Day weekend with a replacement. Matt was nothing but patient and creative as we worked through pricing options and found ways for us to save some money. Avian and Briar did quality carpentry. Cory was the first Zenith employee to the house and very clearly explained the process. Special shout out to Niles The Tile Guy who wins the best subcontractor award--incredibly precise and skilled work. Just wow. I should also mention that this project was made possible with support from Invest DSM. Zenith was knowledgeable about their process and made it easy to coordinate payments with reimbursements.

Had our basement and master bathroom renovated and picked the perfect company to work with. Jon and Mark were awesome throughout the entire process.

My wife and I are super happy with the kitchen remodel we just completed with Zenith! Everybody there is super easy to work with and made the entire process as smooth as possible. Our designer tailored our new kitchen to our space, included our suggestions, presented options that fit our style, helped walk us through all the decisions, and (importantly) kept it all within our budget. Once the project got started, Jon, Vic, and Jarrett all made sure things stayed on track. Zenith just finished our remodel of our 1940s house in Beaverdale. We are so very excited to have our new forever home. The designer Amy made the the design process so much fun. Respecting the house and not trying to make it something it is not. It is now more modern and functionable while keeping some of the original gems of the house. Our wood floors were saved and look gorgeous along with original tile in bathroom and door hardware. As with any remodel things do not always go as planned, but the team at Zenith were always there to take care of us. Amy created a layout that exceeded our goals for our basement project and her materials expertise helped the new space blend into the original house seamlessly, including tracking down the flooring which had been long discontinued so we could use it in the bathroom. Vic and Jon were instrumental in ensuring people knew where they were supposed to be, when, and managing the overall project. Additionally, Jon was our liaison throughout the construction process, and we appreciated that we could trust him to proactively keep us abreast of timeline and progress updates and help us navigate any questions we had. We were extremely pleased with Zenith's design process, the teamwork and partnership we had with them, and are loving our newly finished basement!

Chuck, in particular, took great pride in his work and was always happy and willing to address any questions or requests we had.

Everyone was so great. I was impressed from the start with Zenith. With Jess, when she first sat with us and helped us with the beginning features/reality. Julietta provided beautiful designs and listened to our tastes. Jon kept in touch and stopped by every so now and again checking in on the progress and answered any oddball question we had. We now have such a lovely porch where I can listen to the cicadas/other bugs and not get attacked by them! Thank you all so much.

We recently completed a four month long, whole house renovation with Zenith D+B and we are beyond happy with how things turned out! Our designer, Lauren Hasselbusch, was thoughtful and did such an amazing job helping us research and select the right finishes. Five stars go out to Mike Johnston, our superintendent, who always had a smile and a solution to keeping things moving forward. Our project craftspeople and all the trades that helped were professional and provided the attention to detail we were hoping for. All construction projects have their challenges, but Zenith did an incredible job of keeping ours on schedule andwithin budget. I highly recommend Zenith for any size project-if they cost a little more-trust me...they're worth it. They care and it shows in everything they do.

Even at its best, construction on your home is stressful, but Nicholas (the owner), Jay (our project superintendent), and Julieta (our designer) made our projects as easy as possible for my family. They are all communicative, trustworthy, and natural problem solvers. Nicholas is quick to address any problems and has been a collaborative partner in creating solutions that align with our budget. Julieta brought our vision to life on paper and struck a beautiful balance between her style and ours. Jay treats his clients like family; he doesn't settle for anything less than what he would want for his own daughter. I had NICHOLAS from ZENITH design put a bathroom in my basement and redo the upstairs bathroom he quoted me a price and I accepted. They began work and everthing was moving along well. Then the plumbers came... they had to put a wast grinder in due to drain was not deep enough (would have put bathroom in a different place if I knew this beforehand) they hooked up water backwards (hot was cold and cold was hot) had to cut various holes in the new drywall to reverse hot and cold water??? Air vent was left off for upstairs bedroom and heater blew hot air on bottom of upstairs bedroom causing the beautiful 1956 hardwood floors to bow shrivel and crack! In the mean time the new shower in the new basement bathroom did not get sealed correctly and leaked into the walls causing the drywall to rot and mold. I did not find out until it showed up on the bottom of the walls by the shower over a years time. After they completed work NICHOLAS added $1000 to my already over quote price tag! Said everybody adds design cost after quote??? When I contacted them to resolve these problems they said they were not responsible and it was past my 1 yr warranty? Unless I ripped the walls down and inspected all their work or tore the ceiling apart and found the vent off I don't think I would have known or anybody would have known until the damage was done! Not happy cost me several thousand dollars to repair their poor quality work!

When looking to remodel our home, we solicited bids from a few businesses. Hands down, from start to finish—Zenith won us over. From initial meetings with Jessica, designing with Lauren H, and throughout the entire project with our supervisor Jay Street…the process and the finished results exceeded our expectations. A++ work from everyone. Not the least expensive bid we received, but worth every penny for what we got. Thank you Zenith! So proud of our new addition and kitchen remodel.

We engaged Zenith Design+Build to restore two fire-damaged townhomes in downtown Des Moines, with one of the townhomes having been gutted to the studs. We really appreciated the friendly and professional staff from Zenith that helped crystallize the plan for repairs, and then methodically worked to execute the plan. We worked primarily with Michael, Josh and Lauren during the early planning for the renovation. The detailed floor plans and 3-D renderings that they prepared for the project helped us efficiently discuss fine details of the reconstruction. I was pleasantly surprised at the outset of the project when Zenith made a design proposal, involving the thoughtful positioning of doors, that enabled us to have a full size closet in the guest bedroom we had envisioned for the ground level of our townhome.
I had been concerned that we would potentially have to work with a designer who would present design choices that didn't match with our vision for the space, or would be unwilling to accomodate our requests. It was almost spooky how Lauren time and again would present us with options that inevitably included an item that was the right match for our design tastes. The only notable design modification I requested after work started was on the framing of the wall over the living room fireplace to better accomodate a large TV in a fairly limited space. Zenith was able to work with me to get this modification made in elegant fashion.
I can't say enough about how great it was to have Jay as our project foreman. He clearly cared alot about the quality of work that was being done on the site, and whenever there was a setback (such as a water leak that necessitated additional drywall work, or a subcontractor failing to complete a task on time), I always had the sense that Jay cared at least as much as I did that the work be completed efficiently so we could get back home. He was always approachable, friendly, and calm on the job. I wouldn't hesitate to ask for Jay to be foreman on any future jobs I may engage Zenith to perform for us, and would wholeheartedly recommend him to friends.

Zenith has been so wonderful to work with so far! We love that they are transparent and make the process as streamlined as can be. They handle subs and permits. Their designers and superintendents are wonderful. We have had such a good experience with Lauren, Jon and Jessica that I am okay posting this review at the start of our renovations. I am that confident I won’t have to edit later, except maybe to add more praise. ☺️

We worked with Zenith on a bathroom remodel in our 1950s mid-century home – looking to add some character and improvement upon an outdated (not original) full bathroom. The consideration of how we use our home – as well as our cats! – alongside provided inspiration photos was reflected almost immediately in the design process (did YOUR designer put your cat in your renderings?!). Lauren, our designer, truly helped turn our wants (and the didn’t-know-we-could-do-that’s) into reality! Jon was incredibly helpful with the day-to-day stressors and schedules, and attentive to things that needed to be handled or amended along the way. We sincerely appreciate the team for their attention to what we were trying to accomplish. While home remodels rarely feel “fun” in the process, the result more than exemplifies the FUN we were looking to incorporate into our home. We could tell that our home and this project was important to them, too – and that really made this an overwhelmingly positive experience.

We used Zenith for a remodel of our master bathroom. Our designer, Lauren, was extremely helpful in helping me design my dream of a spa like bathroom. Decisions were made easy with quality choices. Our superintendent, Jay S., was top notch. He was attentive in every detail of the remodel updating us as requested along the way. He is a great problem solver, professional, and goes above and beyond for his customers.

We did a whole house remodel that was originally designed and built by my parents. The changes were in our heads. We shared with Jessica Bailey, and she started the process off, getting the Matterport photos of my Childhood home and walking us through the process. Our Designer, Julieta Linhart, went to work creating a beautiful design and assisting us in selecting all our finishes and materials. The construction process was managed by Jay Street, which his constant pursuit of detail was so comforting. Ian Brandt, production manager, told us at the beginning there will be highs and lows, and there were. But the lows were always managed, then corrected with great detail, passion, and care. The whole process has left us overwhelmed with joy. My childhood home has been turned into my wife and my dream home. It was all because of the care and passion of the entire Zenith Design + Build team!!!!

Our business, Chim Cherie's House of Fireplaces, worked with Craig Seagren on installation of a guillotine fireplace in a home addition in West Des Moines. Craig is knowledgeable, helpful, and cares about the integrity of his work and his clients' satisfaction. He was incredibly helpful with our installer, and has been nothing but a pleasure to work with on this project.

We were fortunate to work with Zenith for a main level remodel of our historic home, and we cannot recommend them enough. Maintaining the character of our 1930’s home was very important to us, and Zenith made this a reality. From the beginning renderings to the finishing touches, the Zenith team was incredibly thoughtful in ensuring that the remodel fit with the home’s initial intended design and detail. Original wood trim, floors, built-ins, and crown molding were carefully maintained for reuse in the reconstructed layout of the remodel, and the end product is exactly what we dreamed. A big shout-out to Zenith for standing behind their work with their warranty program. When an issue developed with the new tile floor in our main bathroom several months after installation, and relatively simple fixes didn't solve the problem, they replaced the entire floor at no cost to us. It was a lot of work for them—taking everything out of the bath, tearing up the old floor, laying new tile, and putting everything back together—but they coordinated it so we were without our bath for only a few days. Special thanks to Vic, Chuck, and Avian from Zenith (I know I'm missing a name or two), and Simon the tile guy for all their great work. We've done two big projects with Zenith so far (interior and exterior) and are so glad we chose them.

They are the most honest company I could have done business with. I am glad we found them and would recommend them to anyone. Zenith helped us design and build a cigar room/sports cave, as well as remodel our basement bathroom. They took our broad ideas and turned them into a great finished product. We had a bath and closet addition added to our Beaverdale home. We weren't sure how it would turn out since the age of most Beaverdale homes are very old. We met Kelly and started the conversation. Leter met with Nicholas and then Julietta and the project started. All the crews on site were great to work with. Everyone was very responsive. The end result was far above expectations. Zenith did not cut any corners and did far above average work. I was hesitant on some of the design features but once they fell into place was absolutely more than impressed. Zenith Design + Build replaced our roof and gutters. They did an amazing job! The work was completed timely and the communication was excellent. They offered up great design advice on colors and materials that we would not have selected on our own. We highly recommend using Zenith for any project!

I have been to Zenith’s open houses. The designs have been different each time. I especially like how Zenith is able to rearrange rooms/walls to make them more useable and efficient, the kitchens come to mind. The quality was first rate. This company will be one we will go to in the future.

Called to get some help with a small bathroom fix and spoke to Kelly. She was very helpful and honest. Said they would be happy to coordinate things but after hearing about the scope of the project suggested it would save us some money by using a couple professionals instead. A year ago I hired Zenith to do a total kitchen remodel. I am thrilled with the result. Nicholas was a pleasure to work with. He and his team designed a beautiful space and stayed within my budget as well as completing the project in the estimated time. I highly recommend Zenith Design and Build. Previously, they built a house in my neighborhood that I loved and met them several times before I inquired about my basement project. Nicholas, Jim and team just completed my basement finishing perfectly. We brainstormed the design together and the organization, timeliness and professionalism was top notch. We met with Nicholas on recommendation from our designer. From first quote to completion of our project he was great to work. Our project was a full kitchen remodel and involved all of the main floor too. We were able to do everything on our wish list with our modest budget. We did ikea cabinets to keep costs down. The team even did the assembly for us which was much appreciated! The project started before Halloween and was largely done in time to host thanksgiving. We had many subcontractors who were great to work with. When issues came up Nicholas and his team was always there to solve them. We love the beautiful end result! It came out just the way we had hoped.

What can I say except this has been the most wonderful experience with a design and construction company!! From the very beginning Nicholas was professional, attentive to our ideas, and created numerous design options. The designer Jen was a delight and made what can be overwhelming simple and a pleasure!! We researched several builders to redo the siding on our 1970s wood house, and got multiple quotes from both small and large scale companies. Zenith not only had the lowest quote, but Nicholas was the only one to provide a design rendering for our house so we could see what it would look like. It truly was a redesign--not just fixing a problem. Nicholas paid attention to the details--like how the siding would look with our deck and roof, and what house number style and lighting would help finish the look. The Zenith workers were hard working and friendly--including taking the time to wave at my kids eagerly staring out the windows at their work, and saying hello to them every morning when we left. We love how the whole project turned out!

I missed the Mid-Century Modern Home Tour and the Tour of Remodeled Homes which featured Zenith Design + Build's latest Mid-Century home project. After expressing regret in an email, Nicholas invited me to a private tour which was fabulous. He is a nice and honest person. He should be given a medal for rescuing a decaying mid-century modern ruin that most would have torn down. It would have been an historic loss. Instead, the home is a architectural gem which adds to the area's Mid-Century gravitas.
