Xperience Roofing - Ogden, UT

Xperience Roofing came to our door after a hailstorm and assessed our roof for damage. There was some damage and we worked with our home insurance and Xperience roofing to have new roofing installed. As far as take down and the new installation process went, we thought it had all went well.

After about a year, we started noticing issues. We had part of the ceiling in a bedroom crack. Since there is roofing and an area of bathroom above it, and the roof was so new, we attributed it to a bathroom leak and went through thoroughly caulking everything.

Later, I would hear drips in a wall, and found an area in our upfinished basement where water was coming in from above. We finally realized that it had to be coming from above, around the chimney of the house.

I called Xperience, and to their credit they did send a crew out to look at the roof around the chimney. They brought me down pictures and explained that it was the chimney cap which was the problem, so nothing that was their doing. The chimney cap did have some small areas water could possibly get in, but it did seem a little off to me because the holes were so small in comparison to the water amount, and also the fact that the amount of water increased significantly when it was very sunny. But I figured, what do I know, I am not a roofer.

With rain and snow on the forecast, I was unable to contact any other person who could be repair work on the chimnet cap in time so me and my husband got some roof patch materials and climbed up to work on thechimnet cap. Imagine our surprise when we went up and found a 1 1/2 inch gap between the shingles and the chimney siding. There was no flashing, or even caulking, and when we looked into the gap we could see the bare wood of the construction. Unfortunately, neither of us had thought to take up phones, and the roof was icy so I really preferred not make any more moves than necessary.

However, we instead used the materials we brought up to patch the gap, and the leak stopped.

Would not use this company again. If not for having an unfinished space where I spotted the water, this could have been much, much worse. Even as it is, we can just hope we caught the damage in time.
