Today I was so pleased with the Wertz company....Carmen in the Office was so pleasant and helpful. She really made you feel she cared about what was happening and how she could help you.
When Dave arrived, he immediately found the problem and fixed it. While here, he checked everything "fireplace" to make sure I was safe and comfortable.
The two of them were quite a team of efficiency and customer service- a very nice combination to find today.

Purchased my home in 2022. Seller had to complete repairs on chimney. Seller hired wertz & co to complete the repairs for the sum of $6900.00. Not long after moving in we noticed staining around the fireplace ceiling. Shortly after that the chimney started leaking.
Just got two estimates to repair the chimney both contractors got a kick out of how wertz & co repaired the chimney and repointed the stone . Not hard to see why it’s leaking. As a retired home improvement contractor I can say It’s by far the worst repair job I’ve ever seen. A new crown replacement should last many years .

When you first meet with a roofing company, they not only give you their price but also encourage you to check out other options. You know you’re landed in the right place. Not only was the price well within the estimate, but the service was professional, courteous, and exceptional. The staff answered all my questions, worked efficiently, and cleaned my entire yard, including the spots they never even touched. This company is amazing. You don’t need a second estimate, just go with them.

Wertz & Co did a beautiful job on a large chimney rebuild on our home in a historic district. They were wonderful to work with and the result looks great! Thank you for your work!!

Had Dave in today to perform maintenance on and clean my propane fireplace. Basically, he made me a Wertz customer for as long as I live here in Frankfurt, Delaware. Bottom line, he did an excellent job. So much better than the other local companies I’ve used. No comparison. A very thorough professional job. If this review was based on the service work Dave the technician provided to fix my gas fireplace it would be 5 stars.
It is 3 stars because of how difficult it was to get him out for a appointment. I called on 3 occasions and spoke to people in both the Wilmington and Rehoboth Beach offices about scheduling a repair call. Each time the person answering the phone was very nice said that they would pass the message to the repair person and that I would get a call back either that day or the next. Those return calls never happened.
The 4th call I got someone who would schedule the repair call for a month later. I scheduled the appointment for January 6. Never received a email confirmation or a text that the appointment was scheduled unlike every other service company does these days.
Of course we had the biggest snow storm in 3 years on the 6th so no one from Wertz came out, again no call, text or email from Wertz to reschedule. I made two more calls to Wertz on the 7th and 8th and left voicemails no call backs. I was pissed and called a competitor and scheduled a service call for a month out into February which was the earliest they could get to it.
I thought I'd give Wertz 1 more try and got a human who said they would pass the message to schedule a service call. Dave called me later, apologized for all the trouble I had, and said he'd be out at 9am the next morning. He contacted me several times by text to confirm he was coming and was here at 8:55 did a great job. I got to enjoy the fireplace several time this weekend, and it works better than it ever has and I know from Dave what I should and shouldn't do in the future to maintain it.

This company really cares about its customers! They went above and beyond and was able to fit me in last minute to help me out with my situation. Their employees were on time, extremely neat and efficient. Thank you!

updating my review to 5 stars. I had an issue with the garage after they replaced my roof, but Bob reached out and quickly addressed the issue.

Wouldn’t recommend this place. Masons do terrible ugly work and are not even experienced enough to be doing it . I also had my chimney cleaned a few weeks ago and I looked at the chimney after and it was still dirty as if they barely cleaned it . Kris the foreman has a real bad attitude don’t know if I caught him on bad day but he was rude . I would rather go somewhere else and pay more to save me the disappointment and dissatisfaction. The masons even were smoking Marijuana on my property while doing the job . It’s fine to smoke but go smoke somewhere else or wait for break man come on really in the work truck in front of my home ? I have children .

Amanda set us up for a chimney clean. We hadn't used it since the winter of 2019. Riccardo and Chris came and did a great job. No upselling and courteous service. Thank you Amanda, Riccardo and
Chris. We'll definitely use this business again. I Noticed, they also do home remodeling, masonry and roofing.

I chose Wertz to rejuvenate our mid-century modern split level: roof, gutters, soffits, and some board and batten. Working with Tom was great. He is nice and knowledgeable and able to come up with the right materials for the job. The crew worked efficiently and the short punch list was tended quickly. Thank you for helping me make an idea real!

I would give the masonry team who has come out many times 5 stars for their work. The roofing team i wouldn't recommend and won't use again. The first time they came out they didn't do everything on the contract, left trash on both of my neighbors roofs, trash and nails all over to the point a neighbor complained to me about it, I had to follow up a few times due to lack of communication, they would say they'd show up to fix things on one day then I'd have to call when they didn't show. They said they would install a downspout as a courtesy for all the other issues and threw in the towel about half way through - i thought they were going to lunch and would finish but never came back. They left a big hole instead of sealing it off in my porch roof, great spot for critters and birds, said they would fix the flashing and left it and didn't screw it in or seal it tighter, didn't fix the downspout to the brick so it hits the brick in the wind and is loose, cut a different hole in the flashing on accident, and made it too long so i cant get a bend spout under. I've heard from someone else complaints about the roofing team and didn't believe it from my positive experience with masonry but will not be using the roofing team again.

We have used wertz several times for brick and masonry repair since buying a 100 yr old house in Wilmington. The team is communicative, seems happy while they work, do a professional job while theyre here, and says thank you and cleans up when they finish. Between the office staff, the managers, and the masonry team I couldnt ask for a much better experience.

our chimney was struck by lightning and it exploded.we called Wertz the next day and when we explained that we thought the flue to the gas exhaust was blocked they sent someone right out to look at it. The naext day they came out to clear it and assess the damge, from thereon it was clear sailing, Amanada, in the office, is extremely helpful. The guys that worked on the chimney were amazing, respectful, communicative, and quick. They had the chimney rebuilt within a week, cleaned up everything when they were done.
I would highly recommend Wertz Chimney and Roofing. Amazing experience.

After repalacing my gas hot water heater in my century old home, it was discovered that the chimney was not up to code. I called Wertz and they were able to send out a team the very next morning to remedy the issue. Matt and Rico arrived and were prompt, courteous, and friendly. They assessed the situation and explained that there was no liner from the hot water heater vent to the chimney exit 4 floors above. That could lead to toxic fumes being released through the house. They recommended a liner and explained how it works and how much it cost. They were able to get the materials and do the work that morning. They left the work space clean and took pictures of the before and after. Well done “Dream Team”. Thank you also to Amanda who answered the phone when I called. Had them come and install a SS liner in our two story furnace chimney. The did a great job at a reasonable price. Installed the liner and had to break away excess mortar. Replaced some existing duct from the furnace and replaced the chimney cap. Friendly and courteous workers. Got the job done quickly and left the work site clean.

Wonderful business. They gave me a professional inspection and told me exactly what was causing the problem I was having (and why). The estimate for repair was reasonable, and the warranty was excellent. The workmen came in a timely manner and did a great job and a perfect cleanup after the job was finished.

It is hard to evaluate the quality of their work, as despite a 4-hour block for an appointment, nobody ever showed up. I then received a follow-up call where the contractor represented as if they did come out... Despite that they never spoke to anyone, never knocked on the door, never rang the doorbell, never appeared on the outdoor cameras.

So they may do good work, when they actually show up. But they definitely lie to you about what they've done, even in the most basic sense.

So unless you do not value your time and enjoy being lied to... DO NOT use Wertz & Co. for your masonry contractor needs

We are extremely satisfied with working with Wertz & Co. in the the design, navigating the HOA approval, and the timely communication and construction of our paver patio. Bob, the project manager, and the rest of the Wertz team took care of all permits and completed the project flawlessly. Beyond our expectations!

We used Wertz to build a deck and do some stonework at our house at the beach. We were happy with the result. The project manager, Bob, was very flexible making suggestions, modifications and changes even while construction was going on in order to make sure we got what we wanted. We're receiving lots of compliments about the completed project.

Wertz was great! They were extremely responsive. Their price was very reasonable. I would use them again and I highly recommend them.

Wertz recently replaced my concrete front porch and it was a fantastic experience. The crew (Ron, Chris and Hector) were professional and friendly, answering any questions I had. They were very neat and made sure I was satisfied with every detail of the process. Highly recommended!

We needed the stucco removed and redone on our home. Wertz came out and completed the job in a timely manner and the end result was AWESOME! The stucco ties in perfectly with the rest of the home and the clean up was great. I would highly recommend them.

I've never used wertz myself but I've been in 4 or 5 homes they were doing chimney liners in. Their work is fantastic and they're a good group to chat with while we're working over each other putting in a furnace. I'd definitely recommend.

Two came to install a liner in my chimney
For venting of a hot water heater. I have a brand new roof. The men were careful, and did a beautiful, professional job. I am a contractor, have worked with this company before, and will continue to do business
with these folks. I am very meticulous in my work, and these fellows needed no prompts from me to get
the quality I wanted. It is a rare pleasure to be able to deal with a company when you don’t need to ever worry about professional workmanship, safety, reliability, and fair pricing with just one phone call.

Stay away from this place of Business despite how long they have been in business. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. They claim that they are a Family Business, But this is not true. Someone else took over this Business no t to long ago.

Had wertz inspect my furnace and flue which was shuttng off during heating. They immediately identified a clog and fixed for a small fee that they originally estimated. They were very honest and trustworthy.
This was after One Hour heating quoted me 6,000, saying i needed a new furnace and flue

We were about to have solar panels installed when our roof started leaking. Wertz responded promptly and adjusted their schedule to fo the work before the solar panel company started. They even brought people down from their Wilmington office to do the work quickly! We also had them repair and stabilize our chimney. Work was done smoothly and looks great. I highly recommend them.

I had a rep out to my house for chimney work. Rep gave me and estimate for work and had my wife call yesterday 3/10/21 to schedule the appointment. The appointment was confirmed for 9-1 on 3/11/21. No one showed up. Called the company and they said since they are Delaware based they can not perform the work in NJ.. no one told us that until we called and the rep had no idea that was the case.The office manager kept trying to over talk me and make excuses why they did not show up. She told me that they do work with NJ hvac companies. Why didn’t they call their NJ connect and schedule the work to be performed. I am selling my house an need this done ASAP. This company is poorly run and the customer service is awful. Do not call them for work, most likely they will either not show up, tell you lies or leave our important information. So so so bad!!

My NEIGHBOR Used their services and the two workers parked their truck in MY DRIVEWAY! DIDNT ASK and when I went to ask who they were and why in MY DRIVEWAY their response was," yeah this is closer and easier for me so.." and then just looked at me. I said when I need to leave you need to MOVE. he said well hopefully wont take long! Then they are rude and arguing outside my HOUSE THE WHOLE TIME and cursing at one another. I WILL BE CALLING THE COMPANY AND provide an update if they dont leave and or mess up anything in MY DRIVEWAY! they did NOT even have the decency to ASK FIRST. I guess they just HIRE ANYONE OFF THE STREET at this compamny because these two had no customer service or even attempt to TRY! IWLL NEVER USE THEM SHOULD I NEED WORK DONE! Horrible customer service. and I am put out for a service I DIDNT ASK FOR OR EVEN USE

Chimney insert
We had Wertz install chimney insert as a third party for our furnace installation. Bob , Kerry and the entire team at Wertz was very helpful and kept us abrace about the developments and change in schedules . Bob took full ownership of any challenges and reverted back within reasonable time. Thankyou Wertz for taking good care of us

We were very pleased with the job that Wertz did repointing our chimneys the first week of November. Although their price was similar to another local company, the estimator from Wertz was so much more professional and detailed in his explanation of the work we needed to have done, I felt much more confident hiring them. The office staff was very courteous and friendly through the whole contract and scheduling process. The crew was also very professional, and did a beautiful job. I would highly recommend them for chimney work, and use them again if we need to in the future for other work.

These guys just saved me big $$. Another chimney company told us that our chimney was dangerous, stop using it immediately and handed us a proposal of $12,000. The very nice gentleman at Wertz inspected our chimney and said he could not in good faith try to sell me something we honestly did not need. He did clearly point out a few maintenance issues and repair work that needs to be done. I told him to write it up, no questions asked, and let's get the work done. Thank you!

I was very pleased with the customer service woman on the phone. Every time I spoke with her, she was very helpful and nice. The mortar color matched perfectly, which I was nervous about. The price was good. The men that did the work were also very helpful in explaining what they were doing. My husband, who works in construction, was angry with the way they left mortar dust everywhere when he saw it, though. By the time he arrived, it was too late to call them and have them come back and clean up better. I did not realize that the dust they left behind would possibly mix with water and form a hard cement on our front steps. There is still hardened dust on our bushes over a month later. Overall, good work. Just maybe a better clean up.

Contracted Wertz and Co. to do a complete chimney rebuild from the roof up. The estimate given was very competitive, Terry in the office was very helpful and provided the best and most efficient customer service experience I have had in a long time. The crew came on time as scheduled And completed the work in a very timely manner, they were very professional, even cleaned up after so well, one would have never known they were there at all if not for the beautiful job they did. I needed prices on a new roof and gutters and found Wentz and Company on the internet. After contacting them and getting prices I found they were far and away the lowest around. After having the work completed they did a great job. Tommy and his co workers answered all my question I had and completed the job quickly and roof and gutters look fantastic. We are thinking of having a fireplace insert put in our home and they will be the company I call.

Had work done to the chimney which caused water leaks in other places. Found out later that original work was not done properly. Took several (6?) return visits over 6 months to rectify problem. Most of my phone calls would go unreturned and they just didn’t show up for some appointments, no phone call, no explanation. The one star is for the lady in the office who was very nice to me the 20 or more times I called.

The Wertz crew came in and fixed our squirrel problem in under an hour. Efficient, fast, fair pricing and friendly. I expect the squirrel problem is finished, but if I ever need roof work again, I'll be calling Wertz & Co.

Wertz & Co. operate as a family and each of their staff treated my wife and I the same. They were all very polite, listened carefully to what each of us wanted as an outcome, then shared a selection of solutions within our budget.

For years, using our fireplace was not only a chore but possibly a danger to our family. Poor draft on our chimney led to smoke backing up into our living space. Further, the fire pulled in cold air from any tiny air leak to the outside. We settled on a wood stove with a tight fitting glass door. The chimney would not require reconstruction as a stainless steel flexible chimney liner would be installed. Heat from the fire would draw in outside air from the chimney to feed the fire and a non-contact, air-to-air heat exchanger built into the stove would, via electric fan, cold air from the floor of our living space.

The installation crew arrived at the date and time agreed upon, came in and introduced themselves and gave us a rundown of what would be done and how the work would proceed. As a geek with a good historical background in combustion engineering, I probably asked more detailed questions than most home owners. Each question asked by my wife or myself was politely answered by the technician with the best knowledge of the subject.

Many people think of a fireplace retrofit as a dirty process, leaving hours of house cleaning before enjoying your new space. No so with Wertz & Co.! Our fireplace installation was done so carefully and skillfully that we didn't even have to run a vacuum over the carpet! Just set the fire and enjoy the warmth!

My wife and I want to send a big Thank You to Rob Becker and all the folks at Wertz & Co. responsible for our new fireplace insert. We are really enjoying it and it is definitely an improvement to our home!

Post Script: A piece of aluminum siding had blown off our house during the gale force winds of September and October. I asked my crew if there was anything Wertz & Co. could #o about it? I met with a representative and he gave me a price and timeframe that suited our family. The job was beautifully done and for fun, I ask visitors if they can spot the patch. No one can! Another great job by Wertz & Co.

My family has been using Wertz for over 25 years. You won't find a better roofing/fireplace outfit anywhere. The bend-over-backwards customer service and quality workmanship never ceases to amaze. Call them. You will be glad you did.

What a great experience with a Roofing Company. Courteous, fair pricing, and excellent work. Recommend this company highly. Thur employees are good reviews but horrible work ethics it's illegal to park on a state road they put up signs after the accident pretending the signs were already up blaming it my fault for but there was not enough space on the other side the owner got back to me saying sorry for your troubles today. Would never use this company. The cops were favoring them by talking to them more and just asking me basic questions just dehumanizing me.

Very nice people to deal with they do beautiful work and they went out of their way to accommodate me.

I recently had Wertz repair the panels in my fireplace prior to selling the house. Their estimate was almost a third of the competitor. They were able to do the job the same day. The job was a quarter of the time that multiple competitors quoted. Jeremy and Tom performed the job, and were very professional and courteous. The office staff was very pleasant on the phone. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I would highly recommend using Wertz. In fact, we will be doing the roof on a new house soon, and they will be the first ones I call.

My experience with Wertz and Co., and moreover, my personal experience with Bob Wertz (head of the company) was more than a positive one. Without going into too much detail, my 95 year old mother was scammed by a so called chimney cleaning company (Aero Ventilation) which not only scammed her by using fear tactics, but the work that they had left behind was not up to code, and could have resulted in a lot of damage in the future. Luckily we found Bob Wertz and his company, who not only redid and restored the chimney to it's proper state, replacing and repairing the subsequent parts and work within the basement, but Bob personally was helpful in guiding my mother through a very trying and stressful situation. Bob Wertz is a very caring individual and runs an extrememly efficient and professionally licensed operation which is in good standing with New Castle county and the state of Delaware. I more than recommend Wertz and Co, Inc.! Thank you Bob for all of your help and support and for making my mother feel safe once again in her home.
