Weatherseal used to be a great company. They double billed us for a job approximately $420. We paid it because they were so aggressive and to keep the peace. Used them on another job, paid the project manager, had multiple call backs and no shows, he quits and the check we wrote clears. Yet, they insist on us paying again. How about fix your bookkeeping.

Took a bit for them to get back to use but once they did it was professional. Came in, cleaned out all the insulation and put in open cell spray foam in the attic. They did such a great job cleaning up that you wouldn't have known they were here at all. The open cell install was challenging in a few areas but they found a way to do it and the results have been good.

We had heavy rains on a Friday night recently. Saturday morning we discovered that our 2 year old sump pump had malfunctioned and our basement was flooded. Of course it was a Saturday so not expecting a rapid response on a weekend. We called out a company to pull out the water and then left messages for Weatherseal, expecting a call back, hopefully, Monday morning.

In the afternoon we heard from Taylor from Weatherseal. He could come out now! Taylor was reassuring, brought in emergency equipment including an industrial dehumidifier. An hour later the fault was identified, a faulty switch.

Monday morning, at 7:30, John from Weatherseal arrived to replace the sump pump, and not only that they installed a back up sump pump with an alarm so we wont get caught should this happen again. They were here all day. Didn't leave until they were certain everything was in perfect working condition. They left their dehumidifier for another few days, just to be certain.

I can't say enough about this company and the way they responded to our emergency. We were out of town the next weekend, Taylor heard it was going to rain and even offered to stop by the house to check everything was okay. We turned his offer down because we knew, with all the double checking they did on the Monday, everything would be fine, and it was!

Weatherseal installed spray foam insulation in my attic in 2018. A few years later, when I met with a roofer to address a small roof leak coming from my chimney, they informed me the installation of the spray foam insulation would hasten the aging of my roof and that any warranty for a new roof would be void because of the lack of baffling installed with the spray foam. This was corroborated by two additional roofing companies. When I approached Weatherseal about this concern, they informed me the roofer "didn't understand building science". Notably, they offered no explanation why a shingle manufacturer would have a stipulation that spray foam installed without baffling would invalidate the warranty. Now I will need to spend thousands of dollars to correct this issue when I have my roof replaced. I do not recommend Weatherseal to perform any work on your home.

I hired these "professionals" to install cellulose insulation in my attic. They failed to install the soffit air channels before blowing in the insulation, and when I discovered this, they came back and had to crawl around the deep cellulose to do the job. I would NOT recommend this company to anyone. I also regret cellulose as it is so dusty and it gets into the living space. If I could get rid of it I would.

I received a proposal 2 weeks after the WS rep came out to assess the situation. The environmental consultant who WS referred me to came by a few days after receiving the proposal. He not only recommended a more comprehensive plan but also found another crawl space that required work. I left a message for the WS rep with all of the recommendations on his cell phone and followed up with an email. Again no response. WS and another reputable company were referred to me by 2 architects who are well known in the Commonwealth. Meanwhile, I'm very happy with the other company

I can't say enough good things about this company. They insulated our neighbor's new home so I asked for an estimate to drill and fill the walls of our old house. The price was right and they did a great job. The following winter the difference was noticeable. A few weeks ago I installed a range hood and noticed that one small section had been missed (remember, they're working blind when they fill existing walls). I contacted them and they're here taking care of that spot now (nearly a year and a half after later).

The owner came and out and gave me a quote to do the job, I had given him the go ahead and he stated it would be 3 weeks until they could start. I waited 6 weeks and called them back to see where they were,They stated I was on the schedule for the following week. That week came and went ,So I called back and spoke with the owner and he asked if they could come out and revisit the job. Needless to say they didn't get the job done! If you want good quality work and an affordable Price call Virginia Foam Insulators, They are prompt, courteous & easy to deal with.

A man came and did the inspection for the quote and I had to email him a few weeks later to get the actual proposal. After I confirmed that I would like to schedule the project, a mold remediation in our crawl space, I didn't hear anything back. Two months after I sent the email a crew showed up unannounced to do job which luckily had not been rescheduled with another company. I'm sure the work they do is good, but the entire process from inspection to the job being done was 4 months with very little communication from anyone.

We used WeatherSeal for mold remediation in our crawl space and were very impressed. They were the only company that suggested changes to prevent future mold issues and they did excellent work!!

We were having issues with water getting into our basement from around our front porch. We called for a diagnosis/estimate and Michael was at our house the next day. He quickly assessed the problem, let me know how he planned to fix it, and gave us a reasonable cost for the work. He came back to fix the problem the next day with the necessary supplies and quickly performed the work. We have had considerable rainfall since and no longer have any water in our basement. I couldn't be happier with the service.

Excellent service. The whole process was very straightforward and easy. Received a very reasonable quote for blown-in insulation in the attic. Crew came and completed the job within a couple hours. They took care to not make a mess, and were extremely professional. I will be hiring them in the future to do the crawlspace. Highly recommend.

Weatherseal came and installed foam insulation in our attic, as well as put a liner down in our crawl space and foamed the crawl space walls. Max and Jaime were very polite and professional. They were also the cleanest contractor to ever come into our house. Now we can especially feel the difference in the comfort of our house. It is much warmer in this cold weather- and not drafty anymore! We've also noticed a difference in our energy bills. We would highly recommend Weatherseal to anybody looking to make insulation improvements in their home and have already to our neighbors!

I had an amazing experience in working with Weatherseal. When I first purchased my house a year ago, I had someone come out and give me an estimate for my insulation needs. Once I was ready to finally pull the trigger, they were very accommodating and got the job done quickly. If it weren't for the lower energy bills, I wouldn't even have known that they were there. Thank you Weatherseal!

We hired Weatherseal Insulation of Charlottesville after receiving a recommendation about them from our LEAP representative. We had Weatherseal encapsulate a crawlspace under our kitchen and add 9-12 inches of blown-in cellulose insulation to the attic of our 1977-vintage, 3000 square feet ranch home. They did the work in April 2014 and now in the final week of June 2014, our air conditioning system has only clicked on once during the time since the work was done. Meanwhile, our home has been amazingly cool, quiet, and comfortable. We leave our AC thermostat set at 78 degrees. We should have had this work done years ago. Weatherseal's insulation has made an amazing difference in our comfort, and our two electric bills since the work was done have already shown noticeable decreases. In addition, it was a pleasure to work with Wilson Ratliff who did the estimate for our work and also did a blower door test on our house afterwards. Finally, we were very pleased at the care that the installers took while doing the work on both our crawlspace and attic. I would highly recommend Weatherseal of Charlottesville to anyone. And, by the way, I am not related to anyone at Weatherseal, I am not an employee, nor was I compensated for this testimonial. In fact, I made the offer to provide a testimonial, if it was wanted. Very Bad experience with this company. I needed my crawl space insulated so I went with a subcontractor. He decided on using Weather seal. Well the project took 2.5 months. Ridiculous. I was told it should only take a few days. It was extremely frustrating. At one point a couple of workers came to spray foam. They didn't finish the job, and said they would be back tomorrow to finish. NO SHOW! and they left stuff all over the place. I had the workers number and asked if he was coming, he said " no the company pulled the ticket" whatever that means. When finished, i had a Gentlemen from leap check on the efficiency of the energy of my home. He notice a 10x10 void in the ceiling of my crawl space. I called WeatherSeal direct and spoke to Wilson who came over and looked into it. Wilson said he would take care of the void. That was 3 weeks ago. Again no show, not even a phone call. Just bad business.

Weatherseal is one of the great insulation companies of the US, and Virginians are incredibly fortunate to have a nationally recognized company of their caliber. They're locally owned, have every conceivable type of insulation available and deeply understand building science and home performance. Unlike "blow and go" insulators, they offer full energy audits and will determine the best, most cost effective approach to the unique needs of your home. Their track record includes Monticello, Habitat for Humanity homes, the UVA football stadium and thousands of typical Virginia homes. That says a lot.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
