Everything went perfectly to plan and met or exceeded expectations from the initial sales presentation to the operational system of rooftop panels. The install was about half a day. A test run was fine and the county inspection was quick and successful. Permits all taken care of and now I can monitor the solar panels performance via Enphase's Enlighten app. Absolutely happy to give Tiger Solar a great recommendation!

If you plan to go solar you most definitely need to get a quote from Tiger. Their pricing was in line with other vendors and their staff and customer service are exceptional. They're knowledgeable and anxious to please.

Tiger Solar recently finished our ground mount array system. We chose to install a ground mount because we had the space. From Kevin W. Our sales rep to designer Anton and Gabriella our project coordinator made this build/install very stress free. Tiger handled all the paperwork and coordination with our service provider. Tiger was very responsive to all questions and concerns we could think of. We felt as if they valued us as a customer, which was very refreshing.

Tiger Solar installed a solar system for me in 2017 and it has produced exactly as they said it would. I had a problem with a panel and with the inverter last year and, just as they promised when they installed they system, both were covered under their warrantee and replaced at no cost to me. The work they did to get the inverter replaced was above and beyond any customer service I've ever experienced.

My problem was intermittent, happening just for a short time around sunrise, so to troubleshoot it one of their techs got online with me at 6am more than once to watch the system and diagnose the problem. After they determined that the inverter needed to be replaced, Tiger advocated on my behalf with SolarEdge and UPS and successfully worked through a number of challenges. The service guys that did the work were friendly, expert, and professional. The office support was top-notch. I couldn't be happier with Tiger Solar. When residential battery costs come down, I'll certainly be having them expand my system.

My wife and I had 20 Solar panels installed Q4 of 2024. Allison was an incredibly knowledgeable and patient salesperson who is very organized and methodical and without sales pressure. This was very helpful to us since we knew we wanted Solar but didn't really understand the ins and outs of how it worked with the energy company but we do now!
From there the professionalism continued with the installation team who was great at communicating the installation process to us, and when on site very courteous and professional. There was no disconnect between the sales team and the installation team like with some companies and the sales team (Allison) that started with us also ended with us and showed us how to install and use the online interface. That is something you don't see much these days and we appreciated greatly!

Honestly, this was a great experience. The project manager on the team kept us in the loop during the entire process, the install team did a fine job, and everything just worked. It really couldn't have been more smooth.
While I didn't have any need to reach out for questions, I always felt that I had someone I could get in touch with.

They said that the work would be done in one day. I had serious doubts, but they were done in about five hours. Good crew with proper equipment.

We had already met with a few other solar providers when we met with the Tiger Solar representative. From the start, we were impressed with the professionalism and thoroughness of everyone we came in contact with at Tiger Solar. All of our questions were answered (no matter how stupid!) and adjustments to the original plan were quickly and easily completed. The system cost was competitive with other providers.
When we selected the system that we wanted to install, we electronically ‘met’ the entire team that would be responsible for each step of the design, permitting installation, inspection and eventual start-up.
The team that installed our system walked us through every step of the installation. We never worried about their safety on the roof because they always had the proper PPE. The work area was always clean when they left at the end of the day and they were great at setting expectations for any temporary power outages that might occur.
Once the system was complete, we were informed about the progress of Dominon’s process and when the process seemed a little slower than was expected, the Tiger team followed up with Dominion and our system was on the next day.

Tiger Solar was a joy to work with. Our rooftop panel installation was scheduled weeks in advance, started on time, finished in a timely fashion and was cleaned up on a daily basis. Since 2006 or so, all my experiences with Altenergy=>Tiger Solar have been extremely pleasant and very productive. I recommend them highly.

Tiger solar installed our solar panels last year. They did an awesome job. They are very knowledgeable and organized. The installation was fast. They explained everything to us and are always available for any questions.

Six months after the panels were installed we used Tiger to install a battery backup system. Again, great service and installation.

And they also installed an electric car charger too.

We had solar panels installed by Tiger Solar this month. We received outstanding service from them throughout the entire process. In the initial contact, the Tiger Solar representative explained the parts of a solar system and the process for installation, permits, and operation. She used a drone to make accurate measurements of our roof and the directions it was facing. This information was fed into a model that indicated the number and location for the solar panels that would best serve us.
After signing the contract, we received emails almost every week explaining progress in getting permits and ensuring us they would be able to start at the scheduled time. The communication was great.
Once the teams were on site to begin installation, the excellent communication continued. The team lead would speak to us at the end of every day and answer questions if we stepped outside to see what was happening. Their teams had to enter the house many times to attach the panels from inside the attic and to run wiring from the attic to the connection box. They also had to add a service panel in the basement next to our existing electrical service panel. All members were courteous and respectful inside the house.
We think the final system looks great and it is generating electricity well. A nice online application shows how much energy we are generating and consuming at any time. We have been surprised at how much energy is generated on overcast days.
In summary, we had an outstanding experience with Tiger Solar, from the initial visit to our house to the activation of our solar panels. Their product was of high quality and all the people were competent, courteous, and good communicators during the entire process.

Noticed a roof leak from a panel installation initially done by Sigora (now out of business) and the team at Tiger was responsive, supportive, and knowledgable. They quickly addressed the leak as well as other issues they noticed and were helpful throughout the entire process. I contacted multiple solar companies and Tiger was the most customer focused and demonstrated a true willingness to work with me as we addressed finding and fixing the leak. Don't hesitate to call them. Nick Archer and his team are the true definition of service & professionalism.

Anthony and Miguel were very helpful in diagnosing the problem and went out of their way to explain it to me. I would recommend them both for any service on solar photovoltaic panels

Our solar system went out and the original installer is out of business. When the system went down it shut off all our critical items connected to the backup batteries. The president of the company called us while he was driving from Philadelphia when we called Tiger Solar for help. He connected us with an electrician who was able to get our critical items back up. While Tiger had no immediate opening to fix the solar system, they came later to diagnose the problem. Nick Archer came out and was great. He is extremely knowlegable and was willing to answer our many questions while he worked. One of our backup batteries had failed but Nick got us back to running on our other battery.
I can recommend Nick and Tiger Solar without question.

I purchased a home with solar and suspected it wasn't running at full capacity. Unfortunately the original installer is no longer in business. I called Tiger Solar to come out to inspect and perform any required maintenance. The service team quickly got my system working properly and gave me a wealth of information about my system. An example. After signing our Solar contract, a local auto accident caused a power surge, that destroyed our clothes washer. I became concerned that I needed to protect my other appliances from future power surges, and became concerned that such a future surge might damage the new Solar Roof being installed. Allison listened to my concern, discussed it with her team, and came up with a great solution. We added a Whole House Surge Protector to our contract with you, at a price much better than I saw elsewhere in my research. This solution not only protects the new Solar Roof, but it also protects all my other appliances too!

Your on site Team, was just Super! Anton is a Gem of an employee! Each Team Member felt more like a friend or relative, than a contractor. One took the time to talk a bit to me, about the ShadowBox in our garage, displaying my Father’s WWII Medals. I could see he was so respectful; I appreciated the appreciation he gave for my Father’s Service.

Just one other minor example of the on site team concern for this older couple. We moved into this 12 year old house a few months earlier. I have been concerned that my rain gutters could be cluttered with leaves, etc. I do not have a ladder, so I could not see the condition of the rain gutters. When I asked one of the staff on the roof, how they looked, he went over and above in answering. He offered to get the “blower” off the supply truck, and blow out the debris for me, since he was up there anyway. I never expected such a response. It went over and above any requirement of the contract.

Tiger Solar met the requirements of the contract, and exceeded by far the high customer expectations I have, before offering anyone a glowing review!!!

Powerhome Solar installed my solar panels in 2021. We had many issues with them when we first got them, but nothing as bad as Monday night. We could smell something burning and our power went out in our kitchen area. My husband went outside and the inverter was smoking. Tuesday morning I called Generac and they transferred me to Tiger Solar. They worked me in immediately because of our situation and got me up and running. I highly recommend this company. I am so thankful.

The Tiger Solar tech team is exceptional. During sub-freezing temperatures, they came out to reset our solar system that was impacted by a bad breaker related to our electric grid utility. They were courteous, competent, and worked tirelessly until our system was up and running again. The best!

I had my panels installed a few years ago. At that time, I had interacted with multiple solar companies. Some were not local, and another company recently defaulted and closed down.

On the other hand, our experience with Tiger Solar (previously Altenergy) was great. There was no pressure at all and Chris Poggi is amazing. Master electrician and willing to answer all my questions. So glad to have made this great investment and save the environment at the same time. One of our inverters had trouble a year ago and the staff ordered a new one and replaced it within a few weeks.

Amazing to have electric bills each month of $6 - the connection fee to the power grid.

I had "another company" install my solar grid and after I had an issue the other company had went out of business. I contacted Tiger Solar for help. Nick came out and did a very thorough inspection and found some very poor work from the original installer as well as a bad inverter. Nick was able to get the inverter covered under warranty. Nick and Nick both came today and fixed all the issues from the original install as well as replaced my inverter and got me back up and running. They are very knowledgeable as well as do great work. I actually asked them to add on to my grid and will be working with them in the future. Great outfit and great guys. Thanks Tiger Solar !

Tiger (Anton) stepped up and helped when installing co failed to even return a phone call. As bad as Sigora is, Tiger is THAT good. Perhaps even better. I needed a replacememt module. After a ton of wasted phone time, I should have called them first. You shouls too.

My rooftop solar panels were installed three and a half years ago. I'm so glad Ito have them! I haven't had an electric bill over$7, in spite of switch my water heating and cooling from gas to electric. The company was friendly and straightforward, and the cost was as explained and the install went smoothly.

My system was originally installed by Home power and then became Pink Energy and has declared bankruptcy. I reached out to Tiger Solar because of a squirrel issue and was looking at critter guards. Anton came out and did an assessment and I had some issues with the prior installation. Received an estimate for critter guard installation and correct the minor issues. Adrian and his crew arrived several days later and were very professional and answered all questions. I am happy and fortunate to have found a company that takes pride in their work and does not leave without making sure I am satisfied with the work or have any questions.

Very happy with our Tiger Solar System (originally installed by AltEnergy). I just set up a SREC contract and found that Ryann Coles in the Tiger Solar office was particularly responsive to my questions and very helpful in clarifying the contract options. Hopefully more prospective customers will appreciate what a good company this is.

Buyer Beware! Tiger Solar installed 18 solar panels on our roof in Boise, Idaho. THEY CLOSED THEIR BOISE OFFICE TWO DAYS AFTER THE INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETE AND NEVER DISCLOSED THEY WOULD BE CLOSING. So, I ask you people of Virginia, shopping for residential or commercial solar power, would you ever in your right mind contact a company that was located 2,000 miles away to purchase and install your solar power? No. That would be crazy. Tiger Solar has no integrity or ethical compass. They had a duty to disclose to us that they were closing their Boise office, and they did not. We would have never continued with the install if we knew about there would be no local help. It's unbelievable how some people run a business. Shame on you Tiger Solar.

Working with Tiger Solar has been a fantastic experience. Their competence, expertise, and professionalism was noticeably better than the other companies we talked to - and their pricing was very competitive and transparent. Everyone I interacted with was courteous and highly professional. They installed our system earlier than expected, completed it on time and we are incredibly happy with the results. I had talked to other solar power providers before, but Tiger Solar was by far the best company and I could not have been happier with their customer service and the product they have delivered. I had to go to Europe while the ground panels were set up but everything went smooth and the system was installed when I returned home.

Tiger Solar installed 18 solar modules, and 18 micro inverters on our roof. Nick, Matt, Wes and others from Tigers team were great at communicating when they would arrive, and answered every question we had during installation. My solar panels were installed a year ago in October 2021 by then Altenergy, now Tiger Solar. Now that I’ve had a year’s experience with the system and with working with Tiger Solar/Altenergy, I’m ready to give a rave review — nothing but positives — about the people, the equipment and the financial benefits.

In spring 2021 I spoke with a different solar energy company but found their pricing structure so mysterious that I gave up (“you’ll never pay more than your current average electric bill”, but for how long and what was the interest rate and actual purchase price?). Then I heard good things about Altenergy so gave them a call. From my first meeting with Chris Poggi I could tell that the company was professional and honest. The total cost for my system was clear and presented in writing.

My house has a steeply pitched roof and on one side is only 12-feet from the neighbor’s, yet the fantastic installation team — Ed, Fox, and Nick — were so experienced and worked so well together that there were no problems. Even high winds while carrying solar panels up the ladder didn’t deter them. In addition, they were so knowledgeable about their systems that they easily answered all my questions.

My electric bill dropped to $3.85 per month from an average of about $60. The $3.85 was Dominion Energy’s distribution service fee. In July 2022 this service fee increased to $7.10 per month because a Virginia and a local incentive program had expired. My monthly cost has remained steady at $7.10 per month despite my using the heat pump, air conditioning and clothes dryer more than I used to. For an additional financial benefit, I registered my system with SREC Trading to sell excess power my system generates. In the first year I’ve made $236 from SREC Trading.

Registering with SREC Trading required technical details about my system that I couldn’t find or figure out on my own. Tiger Solar staff — especially Anton Martz and Gabriela Archer — helped me gather what I needed. This was some months after installation was completed and I had paid for the system, which is to say I can count on continued customer support.

Working with them has been a pleasure.

I had an extremely pleasant and professional experience with Chris Poggi and Alt Anton of Tiger Solar Feb 2022. They could not have been more helpful and fair in the process. Going above expectations. Panels and re insulation have drastically reduced our monthly bills lower than expected. Can't thank them and their team enough.

I love that this firm is being spawned by Tiger Fuel for two reasons. #1 Tiger Fuel is owned by a multi-generation C'ville family - they have deep roots here and have been an active part of this community for a long time. This means they care about their customers for the long haul - they want us buying their sandwiches (Belair Market) and gas in the years to come⛽️. #2 Tiger Fuel is demonstrating it wants to be a part of the transition away from fossil fuels (proof: they are installing EV charging stations at their gas stations). They are embracing these changes in a measured, thoughtful way. Go Tiger - but go faster!

I've done about 15 installs now for myself, family or business partnerships. This is the only company I will use because they communicate, follow through and you get the product that you agreed to. This is NOT the case with several other local installers.

The entire Altenergy team was great to work with. The sales team was professional and patiently answered my many questions without pressuring us to sign the contract (unlike other installers we talked to). The installation team was also great to work with. The installation was very clean and professionally done.

The entire Altenergy crew were friendly professionals from the first contact sales people, Daniel Walsh and Chris Poggi, through the entire evaluation of our roof for a solar system for our house, through the contracting process, installation, inspection and connection to the electrical grid and job completion and payment. All installers were diligent hard workers informing us when they arrived and what they had accomplished at the end of the workday. All members of the crew were polite and hard working. You could tell they all liked their jobs. And all crew members were knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they were doing. All energy professionals. The job was completed in a reasonable amount of time. We highly recommend Altenergy/ Tiger Energy for installation of a solar energy roof.

Alt-Energy is awesome! Installation and inspection went seamlessly. We have 22 panels and 9.35kW. It looks great and works perfectly. Our electric bill was $7 the past 2 months. We obtained multiple quotes then had a friend who’s an expert on alternative energy look at the quotes and AltEnergy was the most cost efficient. They sent LEAP for an energy audit that is saving us even more money. We’re increasing the value of our home and reducing our carbon footprint. AltEnergy is a local company offering a 10yr warranty on service and 20+yr warranty on parts. What’s not to love about that! Our neighbor decided to go with AltEnergy and is equally pleased. Big thank you to Chris for outstanding customer service. Highly recommend this company.

We worked with AltEnergy in 2011 to install solar panels at our home, as well as solar thermal hot water. They were very professional.

After getting quotes on solar panels from both AltEnergy and Sigora, our choice was clear. AltEnergy not only offered a larger system for thousands less than Sigora, we love that it's a local company that offers very personal service (Sigora, on the other hand, has a very sticky corporate feel—the sales rep we talked to mentioned how his branch manager wanted to put all other local solar companies out of business, which didn't sit well with us). Our system has worked great—we pay only the minimum setup fee each month—and we really enjoy continuing to work with our rep, Chris, whenever we have questions. Proud to recommend AltEnergy to all of our friends and neighbors.

Altenergy was fantastic to work with. It took us forever to decide on the exact array for our house. Daniel was extremely patient and provided multiple system choices with pros and cons of each. Our system is outperforming expectations. We highly recommend them.

After deciding to install solar panels on our house, the next big decision involved choosing an installer. I was surprised to find several in the Charlottesville area. After speaking with representatives from a few local companies (plus a few based outside the area) and collecting estimates, we chose Altenergy for the project. Their local office comprises a small, dedicated team and they clearly have a passion for expanding access to renewable energy. I think I spoke to everyone in the company at some point during the project, and everyone was knowledgeable and professional, but also just very easy to communicate with. Their quote was very competitive, but what I really appreciated was that several options were presented to help us choose a system that was best for our needs and budget. Also, there was no heavy sales pitch (which we did get from a few other companies). When it came time to start the project, the workers were punctual and courteous, and the install was actually completed a bit ahead of schedule (very hard workers!). The entire installation process took less than four days and the panel array on our back roof looks great. Now that our system is up and running, I am kind of addicted to tracking our solar energy production using the featur-rich online portal. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and highly recommend Altenergy!

The system has performed flawlessly over the last year. Our projected production was 11,107 kWh, from July 20-21 it produced 12,730, about 15% over projected.
As I was getting ready to update my review, I searched for our original estimate and happened to find in my mailbox a note from Chris. AltEnergy was updating customers that the Virginia Clean Economy Act provides homeowners the potential to produce Solar Renewable Energy Certificates that can apparently be sold for additional solar-array related earnings. Will need to look into this, but the real point is that AltEnergy seems to continue to be working to help me well after the sale.

All of my original comments still stand as well, and we have been delighted with AltEnergy and the people on the team that served us, particularly Chris Poggi.

Disclaimer- I am writing this review within months of installation so it can only address the consultation and installation phases in depth..

We researched our options for solar energy in Charlottesville and were pleased to find that there were good options. I started out with what turned out to be wildly unreasonable perceptions of what we might want- a large field array on the lower part of our acreage away from the house, house batteries, etc. Chris from Altenergy patiently, and very knowledgably, walked me through the realities. Things like current standby fees from the utilities for production over 10 kW (but listen out for possible changes in Richmond), the realities of current battery capabilities (but the exciting and rapid changes that are occurring), and the financial realities of a distant ground-mount. I had been especially concerned about the roof because of a friend's misadventure with roof damage in San Francisco with their early adoption. Talking it through with Chris and some online research was reassuring that our shingle roof was of much less concern than my friends' classic tile roof. All of these discussions (should we put in a battery dock for later adoption, what are the realities of generator backup with our proposed system, what is the best price point for panels, etc.) literally took a total of hours and I never felt rushed or pressured.
Initial estimates were not wildly different for our home. Several acquaintances have had solar installations over the last few years. Honestly, we did not hear any horror stories. Everything that I heard reenforced my initial favorable impressions of AltEnergy. With the final measurements and estimate, it turned out that with a little creativity, there was room to get us a larger array than originally thought. Again, no sales pitch. Just a matter of fact comparison of proposals and careful explanation.
The installation went flawlessly from our perspective. I happened to be working at home because of C19 and the crew that came out was professional and seemed very efficient to my eye. They endured my questions with good humour and really seemed to know their stuff. As the project progressed, they checked with me each step that I still wanted what was proposed (conduit all exterior with loop over back eaves vs. punching into attic, etc.) They were respectful of our request for social distancing.
There were no issues with the paperwork, I just had to sign a few documents and email them back. No surprise charges upon completion of the job. (I had read about connection, return visits for training and so on incurring charges from some companies.)
We are so early in the process that our initial data does not really mean anything in terms of the next 20 years. That being said, our June production was above projection.
So...I would say that, thus far, this was the best experience for which we could have hoped. Will update with performance data after an extended period of time.

AltEnergy is a well respected solar installer. They put panels on my house and did a fantastic job. I highly recommend them!

The team has been diligent throughout the installation, and over came the obstacles of a ground mounted array. From the day we energized the system, we have created enough solar power to completely offset our homes energy usage. Let the sun shine!

Altenergy installed a 33 panels (10kW) system for our home. All American made products. Professional installers. Everything done on time. We've very very happy. And love watching the electric meter run backwards! Thank you Altenergy!!

I called a company out of North Carolina and got a quote after a long visit. I almost signed but then found Altenergy right here in Charlottesville. I am so glad I did. Their price was half as much and the service could not have been better. They gave a very realistic assessment of the number of panels that would be optimal for the site and the installation was a matter of a few days. It has been a year now. My summer bills are zero and the winter ones cut in half. I worked with Chris who was incredibly nice and smart and answered all my questions with total patience.

Very helpful and quick to respond. We can't do what we were hoping at this time, but will be coming back to this company in the future!
