VT Outdoor Services did an AMAZING job on the driveway at my house. They were on time, took care of all the prep work, and had the job completed in a day. Their attention to every last detail from sloping for efficient drainage to getting the pavement right up against existing landscaping edging to creating an extra parking space was simply outstanding! Our lawn was unusable and a swamp before he started and now our kids are able to play safely back there.

A 300' + driveway replacement with two parking pads requiring 850 sq. yards + of asphalt, two walkways regraded with new pavers, and overdue drainage improvements. Hugh at VT Outdoor Services regraded my driveway and has plowed it for the past few years.

The work on the driveway was great. It’s a long uphill gravel driveway. Hugh regraded it, redug the drainage ditches on either side, and put down new gravel. Solved my problems with erosion and washboard surface.

He also plows for us in the winter. Always timely, does a great job, sands if there’s a layer of ice under the snow. One of the really wet storms early this season bent about 40 birch trees across the driveway making it impassable. Hugh was able to come out and clear the trees, move them to the side of my yard (probably will have a few cords of nice birch firewood in a couple of years) and then clear the driveway. Can’t recommend them enough.

We had some major pothole issues in our long 1/8 of a mile driveway in Essex. VT Outdoor Services (Hugh) was super responsive in coming to give quotes at my request on what a short term fix and a long term fix would cost. His communication was stellar. We had a weather delay due to frozen turf and he was great about keeping me posted. Fortunately, there was a thaw and he remembered us and kindly fit us into his busy schedule. The driveway work was excellent and we are grateful to have it in great shape for winter. I'd highly recommend Hugh. Very professional and nice to work with.

I contacted Hugh to fix some drainage problems and repair my driveway. He is very professional and shows up when he says he will. We had a big rain storm right after he worked on the driveway
he came by the next morning to see if there was any damage and there was not. I highly recommend Hugh if you want something done at a reasonable price.

After the most recent season of torrential downpours, our steep driveway was in need of some serious repair work. Hugh assessed the project and itemized his estimates for ditch work, tree removal, and driveway grading (material needed, crown, & rolling for compaction). This itemization was helpful so we could choose what specific work we wanted done. We ended up requesting that 4" stone be added to the ditch to slow sapling growth and soil erosion.
Hugh did an amazing job of pushing back the treeline about 4 feet on each side of the driveway and built up the crown so that heavy downpours will run off much more effectively into the ditches. The 4” stone in the main drainage ditch looks great and will definitely keep the treeline back so snow removal will be much easier. The compaction with his roller will also definitely help slow down future washouts.

I was a few days before i could check out the work VT Outdoor Services did for us on our tricky sloped and curvy driveway…… I am very impressed so far. We have had some rain and cars on it and it still looks as good as new. Packing the gravel makes a big difference. Hugh was great to work with while we meshed our busy schedules. I am glad I reached out to this local business to fix my mogel filled drive way….now a well groomed trail.

VT Outdoor Services did a wonderful job removing our failed asphalt driveway and replacing it with a handsome crushed stone driveway and parking space. We specifically wanted to get away from asphalt for the look of stone and improved drainage. The team was efficient and thorough. The base layer was raked and compacted prior to spreading and compacting the stone. We are very happy with the results and would recommend them for your needs.

Working with Hugh was a good experience. While outfits are all swamped these days, it’s usually a chore just to get someone to respond back when looking to hire out a project.
