If I need something and don't know what it is...at least I know where to go.

A lot of experience and employees that help until I'm ready to go to the counter. A lot of products for literally any project.

Fantastic Experience!
I’m really jazzed about my experience—Evan was super easy to work with, and I ended up with a much better mower than what I was using before. Highly recommend stopping by for both small and large equipment. Great service and great gear!

Bad customer service every time I go here, employees are to lazy to help locate items so they say they don't sell it at all... 5 minutes of looking and I found what I was looking for and they in fact do sell it....
I would go elsewhere for your needs.

My husband was buying 2 pipes but they rang up 3 dollars more than the very clearly advertised price. The cashier was handling the mistake with kindness, but then owner butted in and was incredibly rude. I hope the 6 extra dollars you got from my husband is worth the 40+ years of business you'll lose from our family.

My significant other, and I have been there twice now. Both times, the cashier, the same woman, has had an outright attitude. She's not very friendly whatsoever, and when attempting to ask for assistance, she gives a partial glare and snaps back at you. As if I had just broken something on purpose. Talk about attitude adjustment! Maybe some charm school on top of it cause she sure lacks it.

I walked in there to get a box of screws, 1 pound box, just some deck screws, nothing elaborate and I looked at the price. I've put the stuff back on the shelf and walked out the door I will not pay $17 for the same thing that I can get 3 miles up the road at home depot for half that price. I don't care how friendly the reservice is. There is price, and then there is price gouging, and then there's robbery. $16.00 for a 1lb box of exterior 2 1/2 inches is robbery.

Wow, this place may or may not have what you’re looking for. But one thing is for sure they have a real management issue. It takes a real piece of work to belittle your employees in front of the customer like they are a child and instead of attempting to help locate merchandise in the management’s own establishment look at the computer say we have two in stock tell the customer they’ve got better things to do and help them. It felt like they were trying to close and push me out. I checked the closing time. It wasn’t for another hour and a half.

To staff that are attempting to help the patrons, there is better out there apply for it and get out this establishment.

They have what I need, but the prices are so high! A two pack of slow blow fuses was over $14 after tax

This used to be our hometown hardware store.
Used to be.
Now they have everything locked up because of thieves.
They're obviously feeling the pinch of inflation because the prices are through the roof.
They still usually have somebody decent to help you find What You Need though.
But if you happen to be wearing your yard working shirt and your sweatpants prepared to be followed around the store like you are going to steal.
Very judgy. Which I guess they have to be in today's day and age.
That goes to show just exactly what has happened to downtown Shelton.
Probably don't need to get the crayons out and spell it out.
All the businesses are closing money transfer stores flourish.

My son picked up a rental trencher, got it home, started it twice, and the handle came off in his hand. He then took it back to get it fixed, and the man at the front desk was very rude. Treated my son like an idiot. He complained about the vehicle he was driving to tow the trencher. Yet, our vehicle is rated to tow the trencher. We will never be using Tozier's again. We will go back to using Home Depot in Tumwater. The people at Home Depot are not rude.

Always has what I need. Friendly staff. One checkout associate with a busy long line. Worker bees trying to get back to work. Her announcement for help was a lost cause.

Been shopping there for well over 20 years. I've always bragged to every blue collar person I've met that Tozier's is the best store in the world. In the last few years they've gone way downhill. You need a babysitter to look at any tools, drill bits, etc., if you have a big purse you have to leave it at the front, they don't accept gift cards purchased online, the list goes on and on.

I've always been a huge fan of supporting small businesses, but this small business doesn't even seem to care about our little community that's kept them in business for the past 125+ years.

Been going for decades. Unfortunately, shoplifting has necessitated barricading some areas so the customer has to ask to be let in.

Store is filthy. Everything you want to look at is locked up, so you have to have someone stand there and watch you shop. Then they have to take your items to the register. You ask for help and nobody knows where anything is. One person told a customer "I'm sorry I can't help you with that." The manager answered her phone while helping a customer, and wrote down a list of items. She looked at the person next to her and said "have to do some shopping for the boss, can you finish helping him". The owners are more worried about theft then making sales. I will never be shopping here again.

So when I got up for work my wife tells me the furnace stopped working so I start visually inspecting stuff. After a couple of minutes I noticed a burnt spot on the thermostat. Jackpot! While at work I went to the ACE app and looked at thermostats to buy they had a good selection. After work I dropped into Tozier brothers and got a fancy one and some doggy treats! They are always nice and informative, in and out quick it was getting cold so I rushed home and installed it, and it worked! I was a hero for the day! Thank you Tozier bros!

Let’s start with the good. Locally owned, great hardware section, most small engine maint. parts on hand, long time employees friendly/helpful.
The bad. Everything under lock and key, escorted through tool section by staff like a criminal.
When I first moved here it was the store of choice it has become out of necessity only. As a result the local TSC has become my go to store. Same selection and not treated like a thief just buy walking in the door

The owner is rude. I was over there talking with one of the store associates trying to get help for some paint that I needed but there was a fairly long line for check out and the owner was trying to rush the store associate with my task because he needed to keep his line moving at the checkout, really?. I said to him that we are all customers.
That's exactly how you lose business, by not valuing every customer who's in your store, you can't just value the ones that are in line to pay.

It Really sucks how much stuff they have to lock up to prevent thefts. Really makes shopping difficult for the honest folks

I always have mixed emotions and experiences at tozier bros ace in Shelton. Had the time I'm treated like a thief they must watch closely and CS is cold and put off to have to help me. The other half I have really good CS and I feel I'm treated warmly. It's been a great go to for things I need on the spot. And it's close to home.

Today I chose Walmart instead. Not because it was cheaper or faster but because Walmart does not make me take a bag for my purchased items. The bag policy at this Ace location is not corporate policy, does not prevent theft and is ridiculously silly. They are only adding an obligation to your purchase. It's a paper bag but still, no thanks.

The store is impossible to navigate. The aisles get smaller and smaller. Routinely there is one cashier and a line to the back of the store (even before there was a shortage of workers). On a recent visit, a customer 2 people in front of me had a a plant from outside and then had another worker bring in a bag of soil from outside which the cashier happily rang up six of, and four plants that were also outside (all from the tag on the individual items) and then when it was my turn and I had one plant with me, I said I wanted four of them. I was told "WE DONT DO THAT. YOU HAVE TO BRING EVERY ITEM YOU WANT TO THE COUNTER". First of all...excuse me? Second of all...how? Its not like I could carry one pot with each finger...??? Then on 4/9/22 at the greenhouse I was told everything from there had to be rung up in store, she couldn't do it from the register outside. I was trying to buy a whiskey barrel. And I was not offered any help at all to get it down the hill, across the street and into the store. What if I wanted a tree? Or 5 trees? How do I get all of them in the store? Figure it out, Ace. Its called customer service.

Prices are a little high because they are the only hardware store in a small town so you are paying for convenience. Over the years service has ranged from very good to really bad. Do not buy anything here that you might have to return, You wait in line and they give you a long form to fill out. Then you have to wait in line again to present the form. The they have to get the manager's approval... . And since it is an Ace Hardware much of the stuff they sell is defective.

Craftsman dealer that won't warranty your broken Craftsman tool unless you bought it there. Who keeps tool receipts for years anyway? Scummy business practice but Shelton is full of scummy. I don't think this is an Ace Hardware policy either, just here. Go ahead, make me travel to Lowe's and I'll also buy what I need there and not at your store! Glad I no longer need to shop here!

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
