They responded quickly and put together a plan to work around a very tight delivery timeline and all of the last minute adjustments needed to make things go right. The quality of work, peace of mind that everything is done correctly and confidence in our team all came at a reasonable price. Absolutely excellent experience. Had siding repairs/patching to be done as our deck contractors "do not do siding". Called Thrifty Nickel up, and they were out to look the next day, had a perfect match to the siding the day following, and a couple days later were in and out under three hours, and the patching looks absolutely amazing. Will definitely contact for future projects.

Thrifty Nickel Handyman has gone above and beyond with every project we've thrown their way, from a ceiling fan install where there wasn't one previously, adding trim under our new counter tops, replacing a side access garage door to even responding to random texts I send their way for help! We used Thrifty Nickel Handyman for a quick and easy interior door that need to be fully replaced. They had Jeff come over and he did a great job. I used Thrifty Nickel Handyman to complete a bathroom. For the project they were reasonably priced over competitors. They provided an in home estimate. To complete the renovations they partnered with different contractors; a carpenter; dry wall specialists, and a tile man. I am very pleased with the tile work. Never had any grout issues as other customers have complained about. However after finding small carpentry issues that should have been fixed prior to installing drywall and the cabinets I did not call them to return to complete the second half of my renovation project.

At least one small issue was two electrical boxes that should have been moved one inch over or pointed out to me prior to installing the drywall. I need another carpenter to come out and fix the issue.

The shower frame they built should have met the adjacent wall length instead they built the frame too long decreasing the walkway space between the cabinets and shower door space. A carpenter should have noticed this issue as we had discussed the shower dimensions prior to the shower pan frame being framed out and built.

The tile man is most professional and personable. His work laying the tile and cutting custom pieces for the shower were perfect. They were accommodating although they had different ideas they designed the shower to my ideas.

They were most accommodating finding and supplying materials. They brought a tile grout sample board which was great.

Final painting should be completed after all cabinets and countertops are installed not prior to cabinets and countertops are installed. - There was a difference of opinion as to when the walls should be painted so a few coats of contract paint are on the wall.

Upon the quartz counter installation the tile specialist found small issues regarding the way the cabinets were installed.

I did not call this company back to return due to small issues; I found two other contractors to complete the project.

There were several times Nancy was impatient and had a need to rush through projects just to have the project completed.

I would recommend them for tile work. On another hand, I would suggest watching the contractors when completing carpentry work.

There were days when one contractor was to show and he had to leave or left without cleaning up his work space. Also, there was not enough communication regarding what contractor would show up the next day.

The lack of the carpenter not cleaning up after himself was a real pet peeve. The outlets a real issue even though minor. Again due to small issues not mentioned in addition to the electrical boxes is the reason I did not have this company return to complete the project and a future project.

Joe was amazing! Answered the phone immediately- came out on same day and accomplished the task quickly and to my great satisfaction. Will definitely use them again!

Promised and delivered on everything. Totally remodeled my tiny bathroom that I needed help to get into and out of the bath to a shower I can enjoy. Plus I have a new tall toilet, reinforced floors a 36 door wide enough to get thru with my walker, plus a new floor. Jeff and Isaiah are the best. And I didn't have to move out for a week like others told me I had to do. Thank you so much for a job well done

These guys are simply the best! In my past experience, having our home repaired or remodeled has always been a stressful time and now with our shower leaking we were dreading have it fixed. I contacted a few. Companies in the area and Joe at thrifty nickel stood out. We are so pleased with the work they performed. I would definitely 100000% recommend this company.

Guys do a pretty good job, especially Israel. He did our bathrooms, kitchen floors and painted rooms in the house. But communication with Nancy (supervisor) was terrible. She was extremely rude, misinformed us about colors for ceramic tile caulk, and then charged for things that she was not supposed to charge. In the picture you can see, that she gave a worker Coffee Bean ceramic tile caulk, instead of sand or beige color. I double checked, Home Depot has 21 different colors. Also she ignored, that workers finished the project almost a week later than we agreed before we signed for the project. She doesn't work on Fridays, which was a big surprise too. Because of Nancy, me and my husband won't use their service again.

Fantastic experience! Highly recommend for anyone looking to remodel their home. Joe and his team were a pleasure to work with. Great communication throughout the entire project, very professional, completed the project on time and the quality of the work was outstanding. We’re so pleased with the finished product and we will use them again for any home project, big or small.

Joe and his team were phenomenal during the entire process of building out my spa. The work is top notch! Joe pays close attention to the smallest details and the work of his team reflects this. Joe was so great at explaining things and giving me ideas that I didn’t even think of when we were in the process of designing the layout. The entire team was professional, efficient, and thorough. Any time I had a question or concern, it was quickly addressed and solved. Each person that stepped foot in the spa were so kind and courteous. We had our master bathroom re modeled completely. I can’t say enough about this company. Joe the owner is great, fair and visits everyday. Nancy, the project manger was so helpful and did so much to help me with the project. The guys were all fantastic. They were skilled, polite, on time , cleaned up every day and did a beautiful job on the bathroom. We could not be happier with the transformation. Called to setup an appt for work at my home, called the number and talked to a nice gentlemen and was told to contact the main office called the main office spoke to a young lady and was told that she needed to confirm as to when she could get someone out hopefully the next day and that she would call me by end of day. She never called me back. The next day I was called by the first person I had contact with and asked if I had scheduled an appt, I told him what happened he said he would look into it. Later that day I was contacted by the young lady to schedule an appt and when I asked about the lack of communication she did not try to apologize and just wanted to schedule an appt. We agreed upon a time and that was that. The day the appt came to be the estimator arrived 1/2 hour late and did not call to let me know that he would be delayed, upon arrival I mentioned to him my concern with being prompt with appts and that a phone call would have been appreciated. He respectfully said he understood and stated let me bow out now and left.
Now I cannot review any work that was done because we did not even get to that point. But in this day and age a phone call could have rectified all this and they perhaps would have gotten my business. My concern is that if this is the way they handle client interactions and commitments what will working with them be like?????

Received a call back from the Owner threatening me, either take down the review or else. I politely stated why I added the review and refused. He then continues to tell me that I will never get a contractor to do work for me in my Village. Furthermore his reply to my post was a complete fabrication and a last ditch effort to cover up poor customer service. To be clear I would not never expect anyone to txt and or call whilst on the road, I would expect that when they arrive they inform me as to why they were late and apologize, that was never done. Lastly never did I inform the owner that I wanted work done without a permit and he did not refuse to do work for me because of that fact he did because he was not man enough just to apologize. Reviews are the only way that consumers in this day and age can do proper research and investigations before they spend their hard earned money, additionally reviews help in identifying behaviors and issues that otherwise may not come to light and can assist service providers in redirecting less then desirable actions and behaviors as to improve their service model. To be clear I harbor no ill will towards the owner and a simple apology can end this matter post haste.

Unbelievable, all I have to say is be careful if you choose to deal with the owner of this company. He has away of fabricating the truth, consumer beware.....
Also just so you are aware you cannot sue some one in Illinois for posting an opinion about you, so go ahead and waste your money and your time.
