The Patch Boys of Lake and Porter Counties

They did a great job and were very prompt…! For the price though, we expected a more complete finish, including the floor and door trim.
While the main walls look incredible, the contrast with the unpainted trim makes it feel incomplete.
It's the first thing you notice when walking in, which takes away from an otherwise flawless job.
If you’re looking for high-quality drywall repair and painting, they are a solid choice-but be sure to clarify expectations about trim work upfront. They WILL do the trim, but it will be an extra quote.
Otherwise, flawless job.

We had the Patch Boys do Drywall work in 3 areas of our home.

1) Family Room ceiling had 'cracks' showing at a tape joint.
2) Upstairs Hallway had an old stain in the ceiling. We also had a large square aluminum louver for an attic fan that was long ago disabled. It was to be removed and replaced by drywall.
3) Formal Living room.....Needed a gas shutoff valve added downstairs for our fireplace gas supply & needed a bit of drywall work around the fireplace shutoff valve.

A great benefit of using the Patch Boys is they don't JUST do drywall. Keith (who was also overseeing the project) came out the first day and did the gas line work.

Next came Gualalupe (Lupé) who did everything else.

He spent a lot of time prepping the rooms before he ever got 'started' on the drywall. Plastic covering furniture, walls & doorways. Canvas & Poly tarps on the floors.

He did a wonderful job of repairing, replacing & adding drywall. Drywall dust was minimal because of Lupé's great prep work.

After finishing the drywall repairs/additions, Lupé painted the Family Room & Hallway ceilings and the small area on the wall. There's not a brush stroke or roller mark anywhere, and no paint drips on anything. It all looks great.

Keith stopped by every day to check on progress. Lupé is a self starter and was motivated and conscientious about everything he did. They both were very pleasant and engaging to work with, and took any time needed to keep us up to speed on progress. They were always ready and willing to answer any questions.

Based on our experience, we highly recommend the Patch Boys!

Patch Boys have gone beyond the work expected . They moved things, to keep them safe. Drywalled ceilings, kept the dust to a minimum. Cleaned up afterwards. I highly recommend this company!

I had Joe come out and give us a verbal quote for some drywall work we needed done. He came out on a Friday, so it was implied that it could be a couple business days before I heard back. I never heard back. I called the office number on the business card he gave me, I called the cell number listed on the same card- no answer and no call backs even after leaving voicemails. I also followed up via text. Joe seemed knowledgeable on the work we needed done so we were looking forward to hiring him on but unfortunately they didn't seem to need our business.

For reference, they came out February 2nd. Today is the 13th.

Update: Thank you for finally getting back to me via this Google review. I don't believe there was a miscommunication, at all. A quote was given, measurements were taken, a business card was handed over with the a statement that we would be hearing back soon. If you believed our drywall project to be outside of your scope, a simple phone call could have resolved this.

Had to have difficult wall area removed in a bathroom to replace part of my water pipe.
It wasn't just drywall, but rather the old plaster with metal mesh behind it. Jesus did alot of hard work in removing it.
I was also going to remove old, inexpensive wainscoting, but he told me it would look fine repainted (which it does) & managed to carefully remove where needed & replace later.
I was a little judgemental when I did have to do a little sanding before I repainted, but in retrospect I think it was minor, & that overall he did a great job.
The Company did reach out well before any other. Some companies actually called well after the job had already been completed !
They even reimbursed me for not having to have extra wainscoting removed.
One small negative was arrivals later than
planned, and hopefully they can rectify that.
Overall....pleased with their work.

I contacted the Patch Boys on April 5 and by April 10 they had already come to our home for an inspection and quote. We had some roof damage from a storm that left the paint peeling and drywall damaged near a window and our front door. The repair work only took a couple of days and it is flawless. Their employees are really skilled. They even touched up a tape joint and a couple of other small damages without us even asking. Thank you for the timely work - we are so pleased with the quality.

Had two walls that needed fixed after repairs were made. One wall was opened 5' x 8", another 14" x 8". I contacted several drywall companies, even a construction company. I'd either get quotes close to the same price as I paid to drywall the entire room or receive no call back. The Patch Boys called me back within hours. Joseph came out the next day and provided me a fair estimate. The wall was repaired a few days later. José and John did a great job while having the work done within a few hours. Everyone was respectful and professional, the communication was top notch. Since the job was small they even went above and beyond and used the paint I had leftover to paint it afterwards. It looks exactly how it did before the repairs were made. I'll be calling the Patch Boys in the future. I am glad they are in the region or I'd still be here with damaged walls.

It was a mixed bag dealing with Patch Boys. For speed of starting and even finishing, they beat a lot of what is out there right now. Pricewise too, they are on the more affordable side of things. These were both big pros. Other companies weren't even taking on one room jobs at the time of this writing. And at the end of the day, the room is drywalled. There is now full electrical run through it. And it has a closet. Very nice.

The mixed part comes in the form of communication, keeping schedules, and the quality of the finished product. The first day we woke up to see that around midnight Patch Boys would be on site at 8AM. Well, we missed that and the guys left before we got there. Then, from day to day, we didn't know when the team assigned to us was going to show up. They would tell us 9AM and then show up at 11AM. Then they would work until 2PM or 230PM and knock off for the day. They had a few call off days with personal emergencies that halted work; if your assigned team calls off, then you don't get someone else assigned to you; you just don't get work done that day. The original finish date was also pushed back and missed 3 or 4 times. What was a 3 or 4 day quoted job turned into a week, then two weeks, than an extra day or two on top of that. Other work I had wanted to do was impacted by these delays too; now I have to paint a high ceiling room with fresh carpet down instead of being able to paint before the carpet went in.

As for the finished work, I've attached some pictures: gaps, holes, rough cuts that will stick out until if/when I can get baseboard down, upside down outlets, etc. Aside from things like this there are handprints on my ceiling and the ceiling fan doesn't work anymore (they took it down and left it in the room for the full job; it's now full of drywall dust and doesn't spin). Finally, if you've watched any of the videos on the website, don't expect a branded truck and uniformed employees to show up and roll out a paper mat to work on. It's guys wearing their own clothes, driving their own cars, who will finally throw on shoe booties if you throw a fit.

So, mixed bag. The owner was pleasant, the job affordable, and completion time quick (in comparison to other companies), but the finished work and schedule setbacks (based on what they told us) are what they are. All in all, I think your experience depends on what crew gets assigned to your job. By our last day, we had the owner's best guy out...and you could tell. He was friendly, polite, quick, and fixed the other team's mistakes. In closing, I'd say you're safe then to go with Patch Boys for your job but if you're not satisfied with your assigned team, then you need to let the owner know asap and try to get one of his other team's in there.

The Patch Boys recently performed several drywall jobs in my home. I am extremely happy with the results of all the jobs. I cannot say enough about how great Joe and his professionalism and his skilled workers are. I will most definitely recommend them and will always call them for any future work.

My entire experience with Patch Boys was positive. Joseph Thomas came to inspect the worked needed and explained all that would be done. He came when he said he would and promptly emailed the proposal. He arranged a day and time that was convenient for us. Jose came on the scheduled day, performed the necessary work in good time and cleaned up completely before he left. The estimator was very knowledgeable about what it would take to complete my project and the price presented wasn’t as expensive as I thought it would be. The installer did a great job and left my room as if he was never there. Very clean and quick repair job. I definitely plan to use them in the near future.
