We enjoyed our stay at a home remodeled by Thayer Design Build. The workmanship quality was clearly high, and the little details were considered. It is a short term rental and places like that get a lot of wear and tear, but this place felt like new - because Thayer had done a good job with the work. I’m impressed.

I called Thayer by mistake and told my incredible story of my problem. Well I had dialed the wrong number! After we both laughed. I was so impressed that the next time I need anything done they will be the number 1 on my list. They are an awesome company

Highly recommend Thayer Design Build. We hired them to refresh our kitchen and were extremely pleased with the results. Their communication was excellent, the craftsmanship of both staff and subcontractors was superb, and they took excellent care of our home. Although our project was small for their firm, we always felt well taken care of.

We have a BEAUTIFUL new walk in shower with great grab bars, a niche and an additional hand held shower head. It sure came in handy when my husband had hip replacement the week after completion. The folks at Thayer were great. We especially appreciated the way they communicated and monitored the work. All of the contractors they used (plumbing, sheetrock, tile, etc) were great. Look at how well the tile pattern on the shower floors matches the existing floor pattern outside the shower. Amazing! Special thanks to Rory and Sean for your help. Rory was there everyday making sure all went well, we were kept updated and the area was cleaned up at end of day. His work was excellent! He communicated well with us about what work was being done, timing and scheduling. Sean did a wonderful job of overseeing the whole project. Elizabeth worked hard to find the perfect tile, fixtures that coordinated with the rest of the bathroom and the beautiful "barn" style doors. Thank you Jared and crew for the job you did.

We are so pleased with the work done in our kitchen. Though our project was relatively small, we felt there was no lack of communication or attention to it. The changes made the kitchen so much more efficient and beautiful!

We are very happy with the results of our kitchen/dining room remodel completed by Thayer Design Build. We really were novices in dealing with contractors and home improvement. I am so grateful that we selected Thayer. I cannot imagine how stressful the process would have been if we did not have full confidence in the staff and subcontractors. We really appreciated the communication, extra care and expertise that we experienced with Carpenter Rory and Senior Project M manager Jeff. At the end of each day, everything was cleaned up and vacuumed. Production Manager Sean made sure we knew what was happening each day even after we had been supplied with a project calendar. We were texted each evening about arrival times of subcontractors. The project was completed on the day it was scheduled to end so we could host our extended family Christmas dinner.

My kitchen remodel was great! I was given a calendar and they made all dates even some ahead of schedule. Jeff is fantastic. He texts you daily as to when he will arrive, keeps a neat organized work place and handles all issue calmly and efficiently. All emails are addressed in a timely manner. Designers are helpful with all the choices that you need to make. They helped me choose products I may not have know possible. All around a good experience.

This was our second bathroom complete remodel done by Thayer in a home built in 1976. The entire process was seamless and completed without a hitch. We used Thayer Design Build for our bathroom remodel and basement remodel. It was a pretty extensive project and we are so glad that we went with Thayer! The finished rooms look amazing and we are so happy with how everything turned out. The best part about working with Thayer is the people- everyone is so nice that honestly now that the project is over we miss seeing them! The other thing we loved is that Jared was very honest with us about pricing and timeline from the get go. Our project finished exactly on budget and two weeks early. The entire time we worked with Thayer we were impressed every step of the way, and enthusiastically recommend them to anyone in the area who is looking to remodel.

Thayer Construction did a full kitchen remodel and added a laundry room off the kitchen, This project for my husband and I is the best experience we've had with construction. The crew was on the job ever day and the progress was like Christmas everyday. They listened to all our wishes and wants and the beauty they created was exactly what I wanted. We have a 100 yr old house in a historically district and they kept within the integrity of the period of the house. We liked our old bathroom, but it no longer served our needs. The Thayer team designed a beautiful functional new space for us. Prices have soared, and it's not anyone's fault that we got a new bathroom just when prices soared. Natalie's design was slightly undermined by Donn's insistence on keeping the old light fixture, but he's happy, and that counts. Everything is very easy to clean, and works like magic. Sean was so impressive! If we run into some pile of money we'll hire them again for the laundry room.

Fabulous work! I had Thayer Construction install two skylights for me and they did a fabulous job. We embarked on a full kitchen, 2 bath, plus some custom work remodel with Thayer Construction in September 2020. From our first meeting with Jared I knew that our project was in good hands. Every aspect of the project was handled with a level of professionalism, attention to detail, patience, and conscientiousness that made our existence (we lived and worked in our downstairs through the remodel) not only tolerable, but actually kind of enjoyable. From the project manager Jeff Cedarleaf (who answered my daily multitude of questions with patience and enthusiasm and also occasionally regaled us with tales of his many hobbies), to all of the sub contractors who contributed, we not only wound up with an impeccable finished product, but also some new friends.

We have many huge picture windows that needed re-caulked on the exterior. It required tedious repair with a messy caulk substance and high ladders. A Thayer repair man did the entire job in just a couple afternoons. He even went back to the shop to retrieve the “best” product for the job. We would have never know what to use or how to apply it. Thank Thayer for keeping our home safe , warm and dry.

Thayer Construction did a beautiful job on my ceiling. It was damaged by a water leak which required removal of a large section of dry wall. Our ceilings have a smooth, unforgiving finish. Annoyingly, we had a similar but even larger leak 2 years ago (nothing to do with Thayer) and Jeff Cedarleaf repaired the damage then. He did such an amazing job that we sought him out again to fix it this time (he worked for a different company then). Once again, he exceeded expectations-which is hard to do since perfection is all I expect from him.
Jared Thayer is responsive, prompt and professional. Jeff is a perfectionist, paying attention to every detail. He is considerate, professional, always on time, and does his job with great integrity. If he was a surgeon, I'd trust him operate on me (and I'm a surgeon).

Jared found some time on short notice to come look at my patio roof. We were in the middle of a siding project and when I removed the soffit, I found old dry rot from a leak fixed long ago. Our timeline was short and somehow Jared fit us into the schedule. His guys came and fixed the problem in little more than half a day. It was some delicate work, as part of the roof decking was rotted. The roof is flat and has a vinyl membrane on it. They managed to cut out the rot and replace the decking as well as a beam without damaging the vinyl. They also diagnosed and fixed a problem I hadn't noticed. The rafters were pulling away from the outside beam; they had no brackets. That was potentially worse than the dry rot issue! Jeff has a good eye for detail and great carpentry skills. I would definitely call Thayer construction again for a small job, and they would be my first choice for a more significant project as well.

I'm a contractor in Portland and after interacting with Jared and his team I can attest that they are well run and have a great interest to learn the best practices in the remodel/renovation field. This is very rare as a remodeling company goes. You should work with them if you have the chance.

We had Thayer Construction come out to install a bathroom exhaust fan that also required new roof venting, reworked electrical, and ceiling repair and retexturing. We took photos of the project and sent them to Jared, and he responded quickly with an estimate. When we accepted, Jeff came to the property to talk over the project with me.
This was during the Covid-19 pandemic, and Jeff showed up with gloves, a mask, and was very careful about maintaining social distance.
After looking over the project, Jeff came back a few days later to start. He was very professional and did an excellent job both on the ceiling exhaust fan as well as all the post-install cleanup, and Jared was in communication with me several times, from the original estimate through job completion.
They even came in under the estimated cost.
I would not hesitate to use Thayer construction again for remodeling jobs.

We have been using Thayer Construction over the last 15 years or so. We were some of his first customers. They have done numerous projects for us and each one has been carefully planned, promptly completed and fairly priced. Careful selection of subcontractors is definitely a plus. We waited several months to replace our bathroom floor, because the best tile installer was not available. It was worth the wait. We are thrilled with the result.

We are currently working with Thayer Construction to plan and design a full remodel of our kitchen/laundry/dinning room, as well as adding/refinishing hardwood floors throughout our home. Last year, we worked with Jared and his team to removed a couple of load-bearing walls for us that were replaced with a hidden beam. Jared and crew just completed a kitchen remodel for us . We are very happy with the results and would use them again in the future.
