First off, Tar Heel was our second estimate for a roof replacement. Their estimate was $2,500 cheaper than the first company! We obviously chose them and they did an excellent job. The business team has been courteous and professional and the roofing crew worked very quickly and proficiently. Big thanks to the roofing crew! They had to stop early due to a rain/thunderstorm that rolled in quicker than expected. They went and got a giant tarp and put it over the roof to make sure no rain leaked in even though the roof was already watered sealed. The next day, they finished installing the new shingles and not only cleaned up from the installation but also everything else under our deck related to the storm from the night before. Awesome job! I would definitely recommend Tar Heel over anybody else!

Had to have my roof replaced due to an active leak. Tar Heel Construction was one of my four choices for estimates. No pressure estimates good for 30 days and local. Easy to connect with Dalton my project estimator. He understood what I need to have done. I decided to include siding, window capping, and new gutters. Three separate crews all did excellent work. Cleanup was fantastic. Easy to communicate with, responds very quickly. Great experience with crews and great quality of workmanship.

Worked with Dalton remotely from start to finish. We were out of the country and didn’t miss a single thing in the entire process up to and including scheduling.
Installation day was a smooth process and didn’t interfere with our comings and goings.
Cleanup was excellent and the dumpster was removed the next day, on July 4th!

I called TarHeel after a storm damaged my roof. My entire experience from start to finish was positive. Mike came out first. He was professional and thorough and did not make me feel like he was trying to sell me a new roof. He was honest and gave a great first impression of the company. After the original assessment, I began working with Matt. He deserves a medal for being so patient and going above and beyond. My insurance company originally denied the entire claim, he explained the process to me (over and over) and contacted the insurance/sent them emails, etc. all before I had even signed a contract with Tar Heel. Matt absolutely went to bat for me. We went back and forth with my insurance company for a couple months, and he helped me with every step. I expected the price to be higher than other companies, it was not. They completed the roof in one day and cleaned up everything. Our roof looks fantastic. I would absolutely recommend Tar Heel and would use them again.

After many quotes from many companies in the area of Baltimore, I had a friend recommend tar Heel they came out within hours. The “was extremely reasonable they helped me through the whole insurance process. The work was scheduled to be done. There was a rain delay the very next day they had the roof replaced in one day. The workers were extremely professional from the estimator to the roofers on the roof itself. Once they were done everything was cleaned up and it didn’t even look like they were there. Dalton With Tar Heel Construction Group coordinated a project of seamlessly replacing all of my vinyl siding, gutters, and windows. Crew were professionals who worked hard and made everything happen on time. House looks completely new! Would use them again!

Last year I had my roof replaced by Tar Heel and waited a year to review the work so I could see if it took care of a long time problem. Our house was built in the late 1970s and has a cathedral ceiling that did not have any roof ventilation. The roof was replaced 23 years ago, However over the years the lack of ventilation caused condensation to rot the roof deck. During the winter when it got cold enough the condensation would drip inside the house and run down the walls.

I got estimates from several roofing and home improvement companies. I chose Tar Heel because they came up with the best solution to the problem. Tar Heel’s price was significantly lower (25%) than a well known home improvement company. The other company also had a terrible approach to solving the condensation problem. Tar Heel replaced the rotted roof decking and then installed insulated panels on top of the original roof. The insulated panels added about another R15 of closed cell insulation to the roof. The panels are also ventilated so they should never rot due to condensation.

This was a pretty major project that required more than the typical rip and replacement of roofing shingles. The roof height increased by 4” so all four sides of the roof had to get facing and be trimmed in aluminum. It turned out beautifully - looks like the house was designed that way.

We didn’t have one drop of condensation inside the house all winter. Our heating bill went down about 25% as a result of the improved insulation. Any time it snowed our roof was the first to have the snow melt - not any more.

The rest of the house has a traditional roof and that was also replaced at the same time.

Working with Brian was great. He listened to my concerns and came up with an excellent plan. He took the time to make sure all the details were figured out and that I understood what was going to happen. He even helped pick out a good shingle color to go with our exterior.

The crew and foreman couldn’t have been better. Really - these guys took pride in their work and also made sure our property wasn’t destroyed. The front of our house has extensive landscaping and plantings. Nothing was damaged!

Excellent experience, Tar Heel does great work. After getting two quotes for our leaking roof, we sought out a third opinion from Tar Heel. Matt came out a day later, did a thorough assessment, then clearly went over his findings and answered all my questions. Turns out, only a few repairs were needed, essentially saving me around $25K. One company demanded a full roof replacement, but after hearing what Tar Heel was suggesting, it was a no-brainer. Roof was fixed just days later, and I could not be happier. Friendly, professional and great communication from the company!

The entire process from estimate through clean-up exceeded expectations. I worked with Dalton to explore options and scheduling. He was very responsive and did not use any high pressure sales tactics. Tarheel's site foreman (Jaime sp?) was also very responsive. The crew arrived on time and ready to work. We also upgraded to six inch gutters - they look great and work well. I had seven contractors provide an estimate for our roof. Four of them provided an estimate 2-3 times the cost of Tarheel. Avoid the companies who are NOT local and have multiple 1-800 numbers.

They came and redid the siding on the house, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Josh Price was very professional and courteous. The workers did an excellent job and cleaned up each afternoon when they finished for the day. One of the days was very windy and they even walked down the street to get their materials that blew away. They came back and went through the years to make sure any stray nails were picked up. All in all excellent job!!

Tar Heel recently replaced the roof on one of our rental properties. They did a great job. Their customer service is amazing. They sent us a brochure ahead of time letting us know what to expect the day of replacement. We were kept up to date on when the crews were going to show up. The yard was cleaned up well. Great company for roofing. Had our roof done about 4 years ago by tar heel. We resently had wind damage to our roof and called tar heel about a leak. Tar heel was on it the very next day to take care of the problem. Justin was sent out and got right on the issue, fixing the problem. Great service and quick and no charge. We had just had our roof, gutters, and shutters replaced this summer with Tar Heel. Just last week when we had very strong winds, two of our shutters came loose and one came completely off. I texted Matt on a Sunday and he replied immediately. The loose shutter was repaired and the other one was rehung within 2 days. You can't ask for better customer service and responsiveness these days!

I am very happy with the roof replacement. Starting with Brian Bentz that worked up our estimate. Communication was great starting with Ashley in the office, then the field manager, Scott. Thank you to the two men that delivered the roof material on a very cold day. I watched them work together to make the delivery safe. Then we meant Chip. He did an awesome interior finish around our skylights. And of course, the crew on the roof for two days. A very good experience so far. I really appreciate the frequent communication as all went well.

We had a difficult and complex roof repair problem. Our home is relatively new (16 years) but it has a lot of complex roof angles and intersections. One area in particular never seemed to drain correctly, with the water dribbling down the front of the house near a corner. At last, water starting getting into and damaging an interior wall. I was afraid it would be hard to find a roofer who even wanted to take on a complicated repair like this, much less what it would cost. Tarheel responded promptly and sent out their repair specialist. He came up with an aggressive and extensive plan to really correct this area. It involved removing part of the garage roof, removing siding from two walls, installing all new flashing, a new membrane under the roof shingles, and a rubberized roofing material in the valley area. I was amazed at how reasonable the price was. The crew came out and did all this work in about half a day. I have spent a long career working with craftsmen in an industrial environment, so I think I know good work when I see it. And this was an example of outstanding technical knowledge, great planning and craftsmanship. The job was done with true professionalism and quality that is surely going to last. A lesser provider might have just come in and gooped everything up with roof cement to stop the leak. But these guys diagnosed and solved the underlying problem. I feel very lucky to have found Tarheel. Don't even think about using anyone else.

We were amazed at how the roof progressed with each step in the process and the finished product is fantastic. We were kept informed at each step of the process. There were multiple cleanups of the property throughout the day. The property was inspected with magnets for nails during the construction, at the end of the construction, and again the next day.

In 2022 we had Tar Heel inspected and repaired storm damage to our roof with in two weeks of the estimate. So far, we have been very satisfied with the work. Fast forward to today 19 Dec 2024, we are selling the house and required a repair - 48 hrs later everything was done. These guys are the BEST (attitude, price, work ethic and punctuality) make Tar Heel an easy choice for a hands down 5 Stars/ AAA rating.

Contacted several times about having my roof looked at. Over 4 months passed and no one ever came out or followed up. Finally contacted another roofer and had my roof replaced within a week.

Update: Went back to Tarheel in 2024 for a repair and they came through for me. Changed to 3 stars.

UPDATE: I had them do my siding too! And they knocked it out of the park again!

Jan 2020: As my Tar Heel guy shovels my sidewalk and driveway making sure my yard is cleaned up from my roof install, I thought it was a good time to leave a glowing review. I couldn't be more satisfied with the job done on my roof. The story begins when one of several of those door-knocking storm chaser groups came out and offered to get me a new roof through my insurance. I was missing several shingles, my roof was 20+ years old, and I knew I would need a new roof eventually. In fact, I had already gotten estimates of $13k+. Being single, I was patiently waiting to win the lottery. Well, to my surprise, my insurance adjuster came out, and approved me for a $15k roof. I was shocked, and figured my next steps in the process was to get a roof estimate from the storm chasers to make sure what insurance was sending me would cover the cost. I was not prepared to pay a lot of extra money above the insurance estimate for a roof. The storm chasers informed me that they go off the insurance estimate and upgrade to better materials/warranty from there, usually adding about $2,000 to the insurance estimate. Knowing I had a $13k roof using good materials, I immediately got an icky feeling from their company. Enter Tar Heel. I asked FB who I should call, and many of my friends suggested Tar Heel. So they were the first on my list. I had my guard up because being a single mom, I feel as though I’m vulnerable to getting ripped off. I met with Brian Bentz, and his blunt honesty with me was so refreshing that I immediately knew he was my guy. He schooled me on the insurance process, and explained how roofers must go off the insurance estimate, because it's insurance fraud otherwise, and if I wanted "that" kind of company, Tar Heel wasn't it. I told him if insurance was giving me $15k for a roof that should only cost $13k, I wanted everything I could get for that money, and didn't want to be charged additional $ for "upgrades" as the storm chasers suggested. In the end, Tar Heel gave me the roof of my dreams, and I only paid my deductible. They came out and shoveled my old roof off a day after the snowstorm to prepare for install, and worked though the cold temperatures. They completed my roof the same day. And it's beautiful. The shingle color Brian recommended perfectly matches the tone of my siding. I'm so happy with the job. As I wrap up this review, my snow-shoveler-cleaner-upper guy (probably not his title), Ryan, just knocked on my door and handed me a thank-you gift. Thank YOU, Tar Heel. Please call them.
