Our century-old home's chimney was in rough shape. They handled a full re-lining and rebuilt the top with expertise. It was a big job, but they were transparent with the process, kept the work area tidy, and the result is a beautiful, functional chimney.

Jason was wonderful to work with and finished the job earlier than scheduled. My chimney looks brand new in a house that was built in 1932. They also installed a chimney liner for me and beat other quotes. I’d highly recommend him and his employee.

Last year Booker and his crew replaced fire bricks and cleaned the chimney. They did excellent work, protected surroundings with drop cloths, were friendly and fairly priced. This year Booker told us we didn't need to have the chimney swept after taking a good look. A real honest guy.

Colonial Chimney & Masonry replaced our cracked prefabricated firebox with a nice sturdy & safe firebrick.

When I first reached out Colonial the owner Jason Booker responded right away, and he quickly arranged a date for inspection.

Jason showed up right on time and he was friendly, knowledgeable and quite helpful. We arranged for the work to be completed asap, but with a full schedule of client work on the books the time estimate we were given was roughly a month out. Jason assured us that since the majority of our work was inside the house that he'd keep an eye on the forecast and hopefully get our work done sooner if there was rain in the forecast. Sure enough just a week went by, rain was forecast and he contacted us to get the OK to come out.

Mark & Alex showed up promptly the next morning. They were both great, super nice, quick, efficient, clean, organized, diligent & professional! It was a pleasure to have them work on our home!

Thank you to everyone at Colonial C&M! We are excited to have our fireplace ready for the upcoming holidays, and we absolutely recommend Colonial's chimney and masonry services!

Jason and his team repaired several aspects of our 1917 beach cottage chimney (2 of them actually). They did great work. Did what they promised on time and price. When rest of house remodeling is done we will be using him for more work on mantel and outside walls.

My highest recommendation.
My wife and I are restoring our 1920's mansion to its original glory. I have lived in and restored old homes for most of my years that I could swing a hammer. I am very particular about the quality that goes into our homes and very respectful of the design and craftsmanship that the original builders 100 years ago. It is tough to pick a tradesman today. My rules are simple: Listen to me. Tell me what you are going to do. Do what you told me you were going to do. Work with me immediately on the inevitable surprises or if you are not sure. If you do that, we will get on fine no matter what surprises show up. These guys nailed it. Or mortered it. Or pointed it or whatever.
The covered patio off our library and living room is really an extension of those rooms and and ties the interior of the home to the exterior. Its elegant stones were laid in an elevated concrete platform that had been giving up the spalling and shattered slate stones for decades. And our dramatic stone entry steps were a muddled confusion of random height wobbly steps, broken stones and four different kinds of mortar.
My requirements were: Maintain the original look and design intent. Rebuild this from a solid base up. I don't want to touch this for another hundred years.. Use the original stone if possible (not to save money). Don't make it look new! Make it look like well maintained 100 year old stonework. They really hit it out of the park. The base prep (the difference between a 2 year job and a hundred year job) was immaculate. The stones, the layout, the surgical joints... The job site at the end of each day was organized, sterile clean, and strangely nice to look at. A million little details that you don't think about. Leveling the steps. Making them even. Drainage in a zillion different places. Base materials that stabilize and drain for the next 100 years. They had to ad a step and that meant they had to find a matcher somewhere.
And they did it all. Wow. They completely captured the character of the house better than I had imagined. I will post pix in a few days.
Your mason better be spending a lot of their time on the base. And have an encyclopedic knowledge stone dust, process gravel, morter, sand, etc. Boring but look around at all the heaved walkways out there. Anyway, these guys are pros. And the work their buts off. I have three more jobs for them on our house. And the job was super fast.. BTW , I did not get a break for this review. I am just SOOO freaking happy to finally find a master craftsman!!!!!

Booker and team recently completed work on my chimney - taking it down to the roof line and rebuilding. Scheduling was a bit of a nightmare but the job is now complete and they did really nice work. Overall they were polite and professional. I would recommend them as long as you have time and patience to follow up.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
