Terrible, negligent, all around awful. I’m a tenant in a property they just did major roof repairs on and it was an absolute nightmare! First of all they were asked if the house should be vacated during the work and they said no. I had dust and debris coming in through screened openings in the ceiling because they didn’t bother to cover them when they tore the roof off which I would think they should do as soon as they were visible. They wouldn’t even cover them when I ran outside to notify them of the situation, in fact they just kept banging away while was telling them and while I was trying to cover them up from the inside. They also broke and detached the vent pipe for the sewage line that runs up along the house and through the roof. In fact none of the workers even said anything about breaking it. I brought it to the attention of the project “manager” well before the job was completed while there was still enough time to ensure that the pipe could be put back in the proper place. Of course that wasn’t done and now I have a big pipe sticking out at a height that is right where one will be sure to smack their head into it. They took almost zero precautions to prevent damage to personal property in and around the house. They knew that occupants were in the home during the work hours and they did absolutely nothing to prevent dust, debris, and probably toxic stuff from getting into the house. Overall the work crew was at the very least negligent and I would have to say incompetent. The roof might look a lot better and be in better shape but that’s the only nice thing I can say.

I have a home in Waipio gentry and he was very knowledgable about the type of roofs allowed in that area as the HOA has specifics rules and gave us a very competitive quote for 3 different approved roof types. He also gave us suggestions on quick fixes which I appreciated as some roofing companies imply try to sell you on the most expensive solution.

Surface Shield did a custom standing seam roof as part of my extensive remodeling project. I discovered a leak. It was difficult to know whether it was a gutter problem or a roofing problem. It took months to figure this out, but Steve and Shon assured me that they stood behind their work and would resolve the problem. They always responded promptly, always showed up on time, and always kept me posted. They didn't just walk away after they'd been paid, never to be heard from again like some other contractors. Though frustrating at times, I never felt abandoned , and I think the leak is resolved. Professionalism, and commitment to quality, and pride in your work are qualities we all want in our contractors. My project was a nightmare, but the roof is secure, thanks to Steve and Shon and Jen. You can be assured that no matter what, other problems you may encounter in your project, your roof will be taken care of.

Great job. No leaks. Starting a week late cost them one star.. I had planned for delays just in case there were issues. They worked with me in getting my solar company to remove my PV panels. One of the best prices out there. Shingles look good. Share a roof with a neighbor duplex. was able to work with us to get them both done at the same time. They helped a lot by being able to keep the sat dish on the roof. I had to tighten the main lag bolts. They were loose.

I was so pleased with the work done to our third floor at Campbell Ave and especially Mr Percy Wong. He was also available and quick responds when we had a question to ask. And also your reference to SVS Concrete what a tremendous work Salvador did for us. Thank you Edean Iwanaga

We were very pleased with the work done by Surface Shield. After getting several quotes for sealing our 500 sq ft flat asphalt roof we went with Surface Shield because their estimate was competitive and the estimator Ryan was very responsive and prompt in getting back to us. The work was done very well and they took special care during the cleaning process to avoid any debris getting on our pool deck or in the pool.
They completed the work in a timely manner and are even doing some paint touch up on the roof that we requested at no charge. We highly recommend this company and will definitely keep them in mind if and when we do a larger roofing project. Definitely 5 stars for professionalism and thorough completion...a job well done! :-)
Update: when we had the paint touch up done we had them check out the main roof for a leak we noticed in our bottom floor ceiling recently. They found the problem and fixed it! These guys are the best!! :-)
