Once Sunspear notified me that they had partnered with SunStrong to come on-site and troubleshoot my system, it happened within a week. Excellent Service!

So far they have been great! Lexi has been especially answering my question same day, which I really appreciate. Kimo & the design team did a great job laying out what the best position would be. Nick the procurement king was great as well. And those who work with HECO are amazing - they must have endless patience and persistence. The whole process is slow because of all the hoops they have to go through, but they never give up and never surrender. Patience is key for new home solar panels and we are almost done! A few last couple inspections and we are clean energy! Note: The installation team was also fantastic came out a day sooner and finished within 2 days.

Sunspear Energy just completed the installation of our second Powerwall battery with additional panels. Everything is working beautifully. The install from start to finish was seamless. The team was very professional. They were able to answer all of my questions and concerns that I had regarding the installation and was even able to answer questions regarding the Tesla App. There was a minor problem that was resolved. It wasn't the install but a hardware issue. The battery was operational while the problem was being resolved. Great Service! Great Install! Great Job! Great People!

Update:
Initially had a wonderful experience with the company and all of its people and an absolutely fantastic install. Every person we spoke to was so professional and polite, and they appeared to do very, very clean work. The team worked wonderfully together. All the electrical work and organization and installation work was very clean.

We will update more once we see how well the system works and how long it takes to get the bugs ironed out as there seem issues but the company is working on it. Basically it appears the system keeps going off line but from what i'm gathering from talking to the company is that what we are experiencing is typical/expected right after install and it might be a bit of time before it smoothie out.

We quoted and talked with many different companies before choosing this one, as they seemed to be the most professional. And we did a lot of research and sunspear seemed the best. I'll update once it's running fully with our full experiance.

Sunspear installed 37 solar panels and 3 Powerwall battery system on our home. From Anela in sales, to the install crew and the manager Tyrone, they are incredible. Best experience ever with a contractor. Super knowledgeable, experienced and respectful. Wish there were a few more stars I could give this company!!

POSITIVES: (1) SunSpear was the only company willing to custom design my system so that it would minimize or eliminate a bill to the power utility (HECO). (2) Marko is 'The Man' when it comes to analysis and laying out the design. He was willing to nerd out with me for hours to get me what I wanted. (3) The drawing package was solid. Install team installed per the drawings. (4) No-cost upgrade from 430W to 440W panels. (5) Install team was great. (6) They gave and I took the option for a 'whole house surge protection device'...because I don't trust HECO. (7) Install team came on time every day. (8) Generally speaking, good communication between the Customer (me) and the various teams at SunSpear (Sales, Project Manager, Design, Install). (9) No leaks from the roof...even after a late January downpour! (10) Tesla app gives near real-time status of entire system and trends. I'm still trying to figure some things out here, including if I can pull data into a spreadsheet for analysis.

NEGATIVES: (1) Estimate for installation was 1-day, but it took 3-days (though I have a complex roof), so I had to take off more work than expected. (2) I was told that installation would be finished before the end of 2024 to ensure Federal and State Tax Credits would be in effect. Install occurred in January 2025, so I accepted the risk that those credits would still be available for tax year 2025. The tax credits cut the price in half; which is a big deal...so a big risk. (3) The week of install I was asked to provide 50 roof tiles (a long lead item). Turns out SunSpear had a bad install on an old roof before mine (many old broken tiles) and it caused them to try to lower risk at my expense. I could not get the tiles, but they took 40 tiles off my roof anyways during install with frame mounting tiles. No harm, no foul as I didn't expend any cash.

YES, I would recommend this company to others...and have.

Overall, great experience from start, finish, and even follow up.

At the time of purchase in mid-2024, Sunspear was the only one to work with the 40-year Warranty'd Maxeon panels.

Sales: I had Anela for my consultant, and she was very knowledgeable and helpful over the various payment schemes, offsets, and agreements with HECO. She was extremely prompt with text messages, always keeping me updated of the entire process. This was important with the HOA application and HECO application process to get Solar installed.

Installation: Immediately after the HOA application approval, Sunspear installed my panels without any delay. The installation took half a day, with everything explained clearly. Installers did not damage anything, and were extremely courteous and efficient.

Post-installation Service: After installation, we had to wait for HECO to install a switch. Once that was complete, A Sunspear rep came over to explain the app, the functions, and showed that everything was functional.

Customer Support: After installation, I needed to engage Sunspear to help with troubleshooting. I talked with Ann from Customer Service to get post-installation support. Customer service was prompt, and I was always able to get quick answers. The servicemen showed up promptly within the hour of calling, and were able to troubleshoot extremely quickly.

Overall, I've had a great experience with Sunspear and working with them to resolve all issues. Constant communication and quick turn-around times for the work crews help establish Sunspear as a great company. Mahalo Sunspear!

We met with Anela and she gave us all the information we needed. As we went forward their were a few hiccups as with any project. Anela, Lexi and Jaecynn did a awesome job of answering all our needs. The install crew was in and out in two days very professional. Dealing with HECO and other inspectors is on Hawaiian time. Sunspear overall 5 stars. Thx Anela getting us started.

Based on my negative experience with another company, I really appreciated the customer service and response time from the scheduler/office personnel. Scheduling and communication about services and fees was transparent. The inspection and installation crew were courteous and respectful while ensuring the work was done. Mahalo Sunspear.

My solar panels were commissioned a little over a month ago and I have been loving them. Anela was a great consultant, very knowledgeable and personable. She was able to give a good estimate of how many panels and batteries I’d need for my home (which was a new purchase) just be me describing my lifestyle.

It has been over a year since I started talking to Marko about getting solar for my house. He did lots of research and come up with many financing options and explained how to maximize my return. Once we came to terms on the deal he turned it over to Nick the project manager. It took what seemed like for ever for the Hawaii Building Permit office to approve the plans but once it was approved the equipment was shipped to the island and the electrical crew came and installed the system in a little over a day then Nick came and programed the system. They were all great to work with and I would HIGHLY recommend them. They used top of the line equipment and am looking forward to selling the power company power back.

We had an excellent experience with Sunspear Energy putting on more PV panels, upgrading our existing panel's converters and getting 2 Tesla Powerwalls. Anela was our first point of contact and was incredibly knowledgeable and explained our needs and the process in great detail. We also had a new roof installed since the current one was at the end of it's life and they organized all of that as well. Anela was also there if we had any questions throughout the entire process and after it was all completed. We worked with many others during the process that were friendly, professional and accommodating. I was recommended by my friends and I can see why. Great customer service, pleasant and knowledgeable installers, timely delivery, and competitive pricing. Anela knowledgeably diagnosed our energy needs and designed a system to meet them. Alex, Rafael, and the electrician (forgot the name, sorry!) led an incredibly professional team of technicians who installed the system. Sam and David provided great technical assistance at the end to ensure my system was running efficiently and showed me how to monitor the system. This is my third solar project, spread over 16 years, so I have seen the technology evolve. My first system didn't even have a battery backup.
The Sunspear team was professional; they would respond to all my inquiries, and I can recommend them. Unlike some other suppliers, their sales representative was informative and knowledgeable allowing me to choose the option that suited my situation.
I find it interesting that all my systems have cost the same amount (before tax rebates that have varied), despite the fact this one is my largest and inflation over the same interval has been over 40%.
It is best to remember that solar is a long-term investment but in my experience, a purchased system does add to the value of the home, if you decide to move on.
Again, I have nothing but good words to say about my Sunspear experience.

Never lose power again!

There has always been frequent power outages and blackouts in Maunawili. We added solar and a Tesla Powerwall to our system and haven't lost power since. Sunspear made sure our whole home was backed up making sure even our outside freezer food doesn't go bad. The team was extremely knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I would highly recommend!

From start to finish the experience has been absolutely professional. No surprises. Every step of the process from sales (Rick Bergstrom) to Office Admin (Toy Eastes) to the Project Manager (Alex Abshire) to install (Drew and Dayla), to painting (Nick) to Accointing (Angie) and final commissioning (Sam) was as thorough as you can get. The team cared for my home like it was theirs. They settled for no shortcuts and answered all of my silly questions, ensuring my wife and I were completely satisfied. In the end, the design of my system is meeting exactly what I need. And the dangerous part of it all I'd that they all made me much smarter about Solar power than I need to be. Sunspear Solar energy help us to install the solar panels, our Home electricity supply are steady without any interruptions, electricity bill definitely lower.

We started our solar journey with another company we met in Costco. That was a mistake! They dropped the ball. Then we heard about Sunspear. Our first point of contact was Ricci who sent Rick Bergstrom within a few days to our house to explain the process and answer all the questions we had truthfully without all the sales fluff. We understood the process easily! Both Ricci and Rick kept in touch from start to finish walking us through each step. We started in December 2023 and by February 2024 their install team was at our house. The install team was here at 8am and finished installing before 5pm. They were quick and efficient. And so friendly. Our dogs were a bit agitated having so many strangers but those guys came to say hi to the dogs and played with them for a few minutes. By the time they left you didn't even know they were there! The property was cleaned up completely. We have told our entire neighborhood about Sunspear and highly recommend them. We got solar panels and a battery from Sunspear when we purchased our home in Mokuleia Waialua. They’ve been fantastic for all the local power outages, lowering our power bill, and helping the environment. We were very satisfied with everyone from the Sunspear Solar Company. From the office staff, especially Jeff, Ricci and Jamie, to the team on the field. Any questions or concerns were quickly responded to and resolved if needed. The scheduling of the complete project was broken down in phases and we were always updated on progress of work. The City permitting process and dealing with the Hawaiian Electric Company was one of my main concerns, but Sunspear took care of everything. On the field, the installers were friendly, helpful, and hardworking. Housekeeping around the work area was neat and clean during and at the end of each day. We are totally impressed with Sunspear. Sunspear had the correct information and was quick with it.
People make the company. Anela was our primary source of information and answers and was incredible. Toy and Alex in getting permits and scheduling done fast. The installation crew was above what we expected. They were very conscientious of making sure the anchors were proper since we have an open beam ceiling. They completed install faster than expected and were very thorough in cleaning up. We found nothing that they missed. You won't find a better install crew than Lawrence and the rest of Sunspear's crew.

The Sunpower solar panels are so efficient
The Tesla powerwall is fully charged before noon. 10 panels were put on garage roof no holes drilled into roof. Before panels were not heavy electricity users. Even with HI. Electric taking power from our battery peak hours. We got a Nissan Leaf put a charger in garage. Still we have solar energy to spare. Sunspear does a lot of commercial
work how busy they are depends on how long it takes to get to residential property.
That said work was excellent this solar system works beyond my expectations.

Rick is very professional, thorough, and knowledgeable about solar panels and batteries. I received over five estimates and did my due diligence. Sunspear was not the cheapest but I felt the most comfortable with them. The company did a great job installing 32 panels and two Tesla wall batteries for us. The work was quick and clean. Another perk to going with them is that I am able to participate in the Swell home energy program who works with only a handful of PV installers on Hawaii.

I requested quotes from 3 of the local solar contractors. Rick at Sunspear Energy did the presentation and answered all my questions. He kept me in loop through the whole process. Once designed and permits approved the equipment was quickly installed. Another day and it was turned on. The Tesla app was great and everyone in the house got interested in conserving energy. I had the daunting task of sifting through the hundreds of solar companies to find one that would be able to deliver the top notch product and service that I was looking. I was working with a couple companies but ended up choosing Sunspear Energy. I went with Sunspear Energy because they were very professional and thorough with all stages of the process. They made sure that the system they designed for my family was the right fit for our needs and usage. The icing on the cake though for me was when I first got in touch with Ann (Sunspear rep). I had alot of questions as I was very new to this scenario and I needed someone to help explain certain things including the SWELL program which is separate from Sunspear Energy but Ann still assisted me without any hesitation. I have been working with Jeff K for over a year, he is a true professional and passionate about what he does. After receiving a few other quotes from other solar contractors, I decided to go with Sunspear because Jeff was the only one to break everything down for me and answer all of my questions, plus I felt like he was really looking out for my best interest not just trying to make the sale. Tracy and the electrical installation crew were awesome, they were courteous, polite and explained everything in detail. Once the installation was complete, Nick came out to commission the system, he was absolutely amazing. Upon further review of the system, there were some adjustments that needed to be made. Electricians/Technicians were polite and professional and got the work done really fast. Also stayed late one day to make sure they could finish it up by the second day. Drew and Tracy were fantastic at explaining things and they caught a couple of things that were missed - painting the plywood board to match our house, the location of one of the panels which would’ve cut into our parking space. In both instances, they were super patient and was willing to resolve all issues before continuing.

Nicholas, who came out to spec out the area and to activate the system gave thorough and clear instructions and made all the timelines and expectations very clear.
The time it took from signing to activating the system was also quicker than I thought it’d be!

Sunspear deserves more than 5 stars. The entire experience from end to end has been top notch. Communication was superb. The entire team works like a well oiled machine. From design and planning to installation, I felt confident the individuals were experts in their field, and most importantly, had my best interests in mind. It wasn’t about just getting the job done, or, making it easiest and convenient for them, their attention to detail, functionality, aesthetics and optimal performance was impressive. They met every challenge as a team with experts from the front and back of the house. The end product is a beautiful work of art and technological masterpiece. The only thing surpassing all of this was the fair and affordable pricing. I am extremely pleased I looked at all the options and chose Sunpower/Sunspear.

He explained how the unit works and instructed me on the usage of the Tesla App in very easy to understand language. Again, job well done!

For 2 months in my spare time, I researched solar panels/batteries and installation companies.
After comparing equipment, costs, and customer reviews from many installers, Sunspear Energy was the best choice for me.

Sunspear showed patience and guided me through the entire process from beginning to end.
Also, Sunspear managed my expectation with the backlog of building permits and their response time to my questions are excellent.
During the installation and commissioning processes, the workers were very detailed, organised, and professional.
In hindsight, Sunspear made the entire process extremely organised and worry-free. They actually took my hand and guided me when I had no experience with the solar panel/battery.

The following are the staff members I greatly enjoyed working with :
1. Senior Sales Consultant Anela provided an introduction to the company's services and a solar panel/battery tutorial.
2. Coordinator Ms. Alex managed my expectations and scheduling beautifully.
3. Project Administrator Toy coordinated with HECO, HOA, etc... This coordination made the process even more stress-free.
4. Installers Ricci, Randy, Nainoa, and Kayla with expert installation with care. From a "bird's eye view", you can see the panels designed beautifully to maximize the sun's direction and space on the roof.
5. Electricians Larry and Drew wired and put together the connection with the solar panel/Tesla battery to the electrical source. There were very few electrical conduits used therefore making the setup very professional.
6. Quality Control/Commissioner Nick ensured all work is graded 'A+' and was extremely helpful with an explanation of the entire solar panel/battery system.

A fantastic solar experience by SunSpear Solar Company from start to finish. After meeting with a few solar companies in 2022 SunSpear comes up on top. And I mean way on top! I first met with Rick Bergstrom "Senior Energy Consultant" back in July 7, 2022. I can begin to tell you how great this guy is. Rick never failed or fails to respond to any question's I asked and continue to ask. Because I knew very little about solar at the time, and still have a lot of questions. And everything we discussed on our face to face meeting was also rewritten and sent to me via email that same afternoon. He even had a written proposal emailed to me that same night. Hands down the best solar company in the Island. When I had questions about my system before the install the entire team was beyond helpful, and the owner even reached out to me to make sure I was taken care of. As a first time home buyer I was shopping for solar panels through different companies but I am very pleased to have SunSpear Energy as my solar provider, the experience from beginning to end was the best and very professional, they explained everything in great detail and answered all of my questions I had to help me understand certain things, the process to apply for the loan was easy and the quality of the materials are very good, I felt like I was getting a commercial type system installed on my house, very good quality I would recommend them to all my friends and family.

I recently retired from the US Navy and after starting my new career I realized I could actually afford some of the projects that I wanted for my home in Hawaii.
I worked primarily with Jeff and Toy at Sunspear Energy for the Photovoltaic (Solar) energy system that was installed on my house. They coordinated every aspect of the project professionally with active communication and expert knowledge of the installation process, the tax incentives, system capabilities, warranties and rebates.
I have been monitoring the system production on my Tesla app, and the energy production has been significantly better than advertised, even with higher then average rainfall.
One thing to note: Sunspear is a direct installer for Sunpower, to my knowledge Sunpower is still making the most efficient longest lasting, highest energy production panels on the market. So you may pay a little more for your system but for my money is worth every penny. This is very high end, top quality material. Experienced professionals work with you every step of the way to ensure that you are completely satisfied with the end result.

As of today our system is officially ON and I’ve had nothing but a great experience with Sunspear Energy.

Last year I started researching a few different companies, both local and larger. I narrowed it down to a local company who had quite a few 4-5 star reviews. I figured between the company being operated locally and mostly good reviews that I would be in good hands. I was wrong. After signing a contract with said company the nice salesman act shortly disappeared and their true colors showed. Luckily I was within my 3 days right to cancel.

After cancelling with that company a friend of mine, a prominent realtor who had recently had several systems installed on his rental properties, introduced me to Jeff and Sunspear Energy.

From the get go Jeff was very thorough in addressing all my questions and concerns. He took the time to ensure we were building the correct size system (unlike the other company) and to explain all the takes credits. We ended up going with 2 Tesla Power walls for the battery options and Sun Power panels. Our home has 2 sub panels that cover 2 separate units and Jeff assured me BOTH units could be covered by the system, including by the batteries. (Which the other company also said we could only cover 1 of the 2 units) They also went above and beyond to accommodate my requests to have conduit run under my house instead of over my roof. Everyone was professional along the way, which is what I was looking for and expected from a smaller “local” company.

Solar is a rather large investment and so far I am very happy we went with Sunspear Energy.

Jeff and his entire team at Sunspear were great to work with. His team went above and beyond to educate myself on the various options and benefits and delivered as promised. His subs were great to work with as well. The app makes it easy to use and review energy consumption. I received multiple quotes from other companies, and Jeff spent the time to review with me and discuss the pros and cons for each. Happy that we decided to purchase our system. Many of the other companies have hidden costs, subpar technology, and some even require you to provide them with your tax savings. Jeff also pointed us in the direction of some creative financing options. I highly recommend Jeff and his entire team at Sunspear.

Sunspear installed our system almost two years ago. I received 5 different quotes before choosing, and theirs was by far the best in terms of both price and quality of materials. The process was painless and seamless. We power our home and almost all of our driving with our system. There's not much to say beyond total satisfaction.
However, I was most impressed when, after a grid outage a few months ago, a Sunspear technician reached out to make sure everything had performed correctly and asked if we needed anything at all. That was a year and a half after the instal and they are still looking out for me. Much appreciated.
