So, I recently hired Stevens Roofing for a major roofing project that included the inspection, removal, installation, and repair of a 6-figure slate roof with copper gutters. Additionally, they installed new venting and skylights.

I have to say, from the beginning, I was impressed with their professionalism and thorough communication. Between working the business side with Nick and on-site with Dean and his team, they were incredibly knowledgeable about both the technical aspects of slate roofing and the intricacies of copper gutter systems.

The project began with a detailed inspection, where Nick provided a clear and honest assessment of what needed to be done. The removal of the old roofing material was done efficiently, and Dean was sure to make sure a thorough pickup and cleaning was done each day. The copper gutters were crafted and installed with precision, really elevating the curb appeal of our home, especially important as I live in the historic district of Ghent. The new venting and skylights added both functionality and aesthetic value to the roof, and they have made my boys' room brighter and cooler.

What really stood out was the on-site teams' attention to detail and craftsmanship. The entire team was punctual, respectful, and kept the work site clean throughout the project. I have complete peace of mind knowing that my home has a durable, beautiful roof that will last for decades, well...actually a century.

I highly recommend Steven's Roofing to anyone looking for top-tier roofing services. The price reflects the work because their expertise, quality of work, and customer service are second to none.

I couldn't be happier with Steven's work they did for me. We have a slate roof and I didn't just want to enlist any old roofer. We wanted to keep our home period, and that's what Steven's did for us. Be patient, they are slammed, but they will get to you and make sure you are happy with the finished product! Thanks to Rob and his team!

I called them to replace broken slate tiles but never bothered to come inside the house to see if there were any leaks. Needless to say there was a leak but the unprofessional manager refused to stand behind the company work. It’s a shame because the former manager was responsive to the customer’s concerns. I would not recommend this company.

More than roofers, part of the community. When our cat got on the roof of a neighbors 3 story, steep roof, they came out in the rain and wind to get the cat down. Truly appreciate their willingness to come out and do that. Thank you immensely.

I was very pleased with the the work Regis and his crew did on installing a roof on my back deck. They were professional, punctual and answered any questions I had.
When they were done with the job, the cleanup was as if they were never there. I will gladly do business with Regis and his crew again. I highly recommend them. Thanks for a great experience.

This company is very unprofessional. They sent someone out to do an estimate on my roof and gutters. After the assessment was completed I was told someone would be reaching out to me with the estimate amount. No one ever did. Not even after repeated messages I left them asking someone to reach out to me. Not to mention they hung up on me when I called. I only received a call from them, over a month later, after I left a message telling them I have reported them to several agencies about their business practices. I refused to do business with them after that. I urge anyone that’s considering using this company to think again. There are better and certainly more professional companies than this one. I give them 0 (zero) stars.

I had a leak during the heavy rains in November 2020 and called my home builder to no avail on the leaky roof in my dining room. After a quick look by a local roofer, we determined it was the metal part of my wrap-around porch roof that butts up to the home that had some issues with flashing and weather-proofing.

Not all roofers do metal roof work so I did a google and yelp search and found Steven's Roofing. They were fairly quick to get an estimator out who was very polite and professional and I got a quote that same day and was asked to put about 1/3rd down in advance to schedule the repair.

I was told they were about 6-8 weeks out so my work would be completed roughly the end of January 2021 once I paid the deposit. I called after my check was cashed bc I didn't hear anything and was told it was scheduled and I'd be contacted. Fast forward to early Feb and I still wasn't contacted, but woke up one morning to a team of about 4 guys with a ladder in my front yard working on my roof. They never spoke to me and spent about 1.5 hours on my roof and left per my security footage. About a week and a half later I was invoiced through email that the repairs had been completed as promised on the invoice asking for immediate payment.

My only issue - is that no one spoke to me at all, or verified or called to tell me when the workers were coming. I also would've liked for someone to ring the doorbell to speak to me after the repairs were done just to explain that what I was expecting to have done was completed. Who knows if they did all the work estimated. I hope so, but no one interacted with me at all. So that part was lacking and could use improvement.

The estimate seemed high for the work quoted but I believe Steven's does a good job and I'd rather pay now than wait until it's a bigger problem. Hopefully my leak is no more!

We had a wonderful experience from start to finish with Stevens Roofing and would very highly recommend! The quality of workmanship, the professionalism, the communications, were actually beyond what we were expecting. Robert, the project manager, was friendly and very kind and considerate. Because this job required use of both of our neighbors’ properties (historic houses super close together), Robert made sure that the team of craftsmen kept an impeccable worksite and a regular daily schedule. I couldn’t be happier with communications from the owner of Stevens Roofing, Nick, who expertly guided the entire process and kept us in the loop every step of the way, often fielding my questions via text instantly. From working with insurance, to ensuring quality craftsmanship replacing a 120 year-old slate roof damaged by storm, to maintaining a respectful and wonderful relationship with our neighbors, Stevens Roofing has been exceptional. Please consider them for your future projects.

Finished framing in the attic addition over 4 months ago at Carolines home and the house is still taking in water. Insulation and drywall is being held up. Can't forget the fact that wood is rotting, mold is growing, trash is blowing down the street, nails are sticking through the exposed overhang, the house has been left unlocked multiple times, yard is a disaster, 5 different areas of roofs have been worked on none of which are complete and management wont return my calls. No smoking signs are posted through out the building and they still choose to walk through the house smoking. Neighbors have complained about the loud obscene music and they took it apon themselves to fill OUR dumpster with their debris. Second beautiful day in a row and still no show.. so no EXCUSES. Need professional exotic work done? dont let them sell you the dream.. yes "nightmares" are real!

7:30am, I get a loud knock on my front door. It’s 2 employees from this company. They’ve found my wallet in the street and hand-delivered it to me, with all the contents still inside. Turns out I’d dropped it the night before. I’ve never used this company for roofing work, but these gentlemen were so kind and gracious to me, a stranger, that I would trust this company 100% with my future roofing needs. Cannot thank them enough. 5 stars.

Stevens replaced the red tile roof on my 1908 Mediterranean House in West Ghent, Norfolk. They were able to salvage the majority of the original roof tiles, which saved us money, and ensured the end product had the vintage look we liked. They also sourced some antique white galvanized steel gutters, that blend seamlessly with the stucco. Overall, very happy with the final result.

This contractor does not like to work with insurance companies. Prior to demolishing our roof, they should have contacted the insurance company to let them know what repairs needed to be completed based on what they saw. Instead of "slowing or stopping progress" on the repairs, they tore everything out and rebuilt it from scratch...not what the insurance company had agreed to. Because of this, we had issues with our insurance company covering part of the costs we incurred. Not only that, but the quote they provided to us was only half of what the cost turned out to be. Final costs should not be 100% more than what was quoted in any situation. Communication from the contractor was almost non-existent during construction. Often the people doing the work had no idea of what had been done on the project already and what their contribution to the project would mean for the future work that would be done later. The only benefit that I found to using this contractor was the 24 month interest-free financing they offered, but it pales in comparison to the experience my family had with this company.

After some heavy rains, I noticed a leak in the attic. The gentleman who came to give a quote did not have a ladder, so he did not go on roof, rather just looked at water damage in attic. He said the chimney flashing was the probable cause, and wouldn't take that long or cost that much to fix. A couple days later the quote arrives for the sum of $6796.00. Called another company, turns out two shingles were missing, and were replaced for $260.

I own a Spanish Colonial home in Colonial Place that has a flat TPO roof system. The contractor that prior to Stevens Roofing didn't do the best job installing the system and my roof was leaking within a month of the new roof being installed.
I heard about Stevens Roofing from my neighbors and decided to give them a call. I am very thankful I called them. The owner (Nick) personally came out and inspected the roof. He confronted me about the work that needed to be done and was straight forward and honest. He gathered a full inspection on the roof along with a quote.
When the men showed up to the house they were highly professional. They never cussed, called me Mr. Sharpton and answered every question where I would understand the damage and what they were doing to fix it. Rob (the crew leader) was extremely knowledgeable and assured me that my roof wouldn't leak again.
This company has a extremely reputable reputation and even made the cover of a local magazine and a full article written on the company.
My house was a fixer upper. One thing I have learned through the process is to only call a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to do work on your house. If you want a roof repaired/replaced call a experienced roofer not a general contractor.

Stevens Roofing is one company I can always count on. They are there when you need them, show up on time as promised, & always exceed my expectations. I wouldn't even think twice about calling on another roofing company. Stevens will continue to be my #1 choice when it comes to taking care of my roofing needs.

Horrible experience. Got a quote from them for a bunch of repairs needed to our slate roof. Was more than we wanted to spend so we asked which repairs we really didn't need to do now. Signed a contract declining those repairs, but employees did all of the work by mistake. Now, because we are only agreeing to pay for the work that was contracted, we are being told by the vice president that we "took advantage" of the company. Just terrible customer service.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
