1. I’m not wild about door to door salespeople, but here was a clean cut collage student just working a “hard” summer job. At least he wasn’t out panhandling.He was offering something that I was planning on getting anyway, so I said yes to an appointment.
2. The salesman that came out was right on time. Listened to what I was saying and made a presentation of what they had to offer. Clean, polite and not pushy. Although they offer roofs, rain gutters, windows and siding, the only thing I was looking for right now was new rain gutters.. Price sounded good and I said okay, gave him the deposit . Then asked for an estimate on some windows for in the future.
3.The installers arrived on time and were very professional. Cleaned up after they were done and removed the old gutters.
4. Today I had one of their inspectors come out to check the work and make sure that I was happy with everything. I have already handed out some of their cards to friends. That’s a lesson to be learned. Us old folks will tell a few friends if we are happy with a company and if we’re not happy we will tell EVERYBODY.

When Sound Performance Roofing's salesperson came by to give us an estimate, we were very impressed with the picture he painted of the company: somewhere that did top-quality work with a focus on honesty and doing things right the first time so that they would last for years, who wouldn't mark the job as completed until we were completely happy. We were not originally interested in replacing the roof in the short-term (I'd asked for the estimate to get a ballpark idea of what it would cost so we could plan ahead), but when he was in the attic he identified the black stuff on a bunch of roof panels as mold and told us that the roofers would replace all moldy panels as they went (plus rip out the bathroom skylights, which we've always hated). That plus the rosy picture he painted of the company sold us, and we moved up our plan to replace the roof.

The initial installation of the roof left us very unhappy. Although the workers did excellent work, it was evident that there was a communication break-down between the salesperson and the workers: we had to remind the salesperson about the need to replace the skylight after we noticed the workers had installed the initial layer right up against the old skylights the first day. Once the second day was complete, we noticed that the large stack of plywood we'd paid for was basically unused (except for the 1-2 sheets they'd used to cover the skylights). We raised this with the salesperson, and he said he'd look into it.

By the time the roof was complete on day 4, no moldy panels had been replaced. The outer roof itself appeared as excellent as we had been promised, but the main reason we had opted for the replacement was incomplete and although the salesperson was quite responsive, communication seemed to break down after him. At this point, I'd have rated the service as probably 3 stars on average; a 5-star roof but 1- or 2-stars actually fulfilling the promises that had sold us on the idea in the first place. We negotiated to be reimbursed for the portion of the estimate we'd spent on unused plywood, turned down the offer to spray our attic with Killz primer (as this would mostly just obscure the problem and prevent us from being able to fix it properly down the line), and I believed that would be the end of that. I held off on posting a review until the check arrived and we'd properly closed our business relationship, however.

Thankfully for us, the check was lost in the mail. About a month later, I contacted them asking about it, and the owner came by to inspect the finished job (this was another thing the salesperson had said they regularly did that never occurred for us). He was surprised to hear no one had come by to verify the finished job (apparently he'd been out of the country right as our job completed), and after looking over the moldy panels in the attic, told us they would replace the majority of the upper portion of the roof at their expense (the senior roofer with him recommended taking everything up off the first two panels and replacing it).

They ended up replacing the ENTIRE upper portion of the roof; easily 50%+ of the overall roof, and over 30 panels of plywood (we'd originally been quoted--and paid for--14). It was a bit of a rocky road to get here, but we are extremely pleased with our new roof, and Sound Performance has delivered on all of their original promises, at quite high personal expense.

I hope that they can use our installation to improve their internal communication, but either way I would definitely recommend them if only because they are one of the few home improvement companies I've encountered who actually back up their stated company values with action.

Sound Performance Roofing just completed my new roof! I am 100 percent happy with the outcome and how the roof looks like great and I know it’s good for the next 20 years. The guys were efficient and cleaned up during the entire process. Kept my home and surrounding all clean and no nails or hardware laying around at all. Great bunch of people with excellent results.

Service was amazing they came in and did the job fast and right. They were very informative through the whole process and kept us updated. We got our whole house resided with James hardie board.

May 26, 2025: I have no idea how good this company is; their posted testimonials appear favorable. My only reason for a single star is about their sales method. No homeowner appreciates door to door salespeople arriving unsolicited offering the false & tiresome greeting ‘how are you this morning’ - a sure sign you’re hardly interested in my well being and are trying to sell me something. Seriously, how many reputable companies feel the need to hire young people to bother prospective customers in their homes? If I want roofing services, I’ll do research at my convenience. Any company using these bothersome tactics is one I will never hire. Too bad for them; had they not disturbed me on Memorial Day, I may have considered their services.

The worst experience ever. The guys thay were sent to my house were messy. They left trash, nails, staples, food wrappers all over my yard. Just absolutely messy. When I called the owner he acted like he cared. Came over brought my wife flowers and a gift card. Told me he'd have a crew do a final clean sweep and still I found a tone of nails. We'll I have kids, and 2 dogs. And what would happen if one of my kids or dogs got a nail in the foot?? Or one of my neighbors kids. To find that many nails, staples and all that trash was completely disappointing. Unfortunately I'd never recommend them. My neighbors asked who we used it told them I refuse to give the name of the company out because the mess left behind.

Honestly the work they did looks really dang good. But I can't get over the mess left behind. It took me 3-4 hours easily to clean the nails out of my yard.

Recently, my homeowners insurance was not going to renew my policy due to "supposedly" my roof needed to be changed per their satellite picture (keep in mind we just purchased this home). I reached out to Sound Performance Roofing as I needed a detailed inspection to be done ASAP (as my insurance expired in a couple of days). Adrian was able to come out the next day and did a very detailed inspection of my roof.

Within 48 hours, we recieved a phone call from the insurance with GOOD NEWS!! PASSED!!!

I did not appreciate the excessive aggressive knocking at my house. Regardless if the service is good or not.

No one, no one likes it when your reps to come door to door and knock 10 second long bangs twice. Both times caused my house to rumble especially when my baby was sleeping in the next room. I was gonna answer the door the first time. But the knock had too much aggression. Did not bother. Whoever Lee is. Think about how to approach a door. First impressions are everything in business.

I had sound performance give one of several estimates from other companies to do the siding on my home they significantly beat everyone else’s price and included other items that the other companies did not offer they came out and did the job and freezing weather and did an excellent job the installers where very polite and helpful and went above and beyond they left my property cleaner than it was before they came here I am 100% satisfied with them and looking forward to hiring them to do some other projects that I do not have the time to do I give them 5 stars all the way

I had sound performance do my roof replacement and we are very pleased with the results. they even removed two large bees nests from in my attic and had to attach my dryer vent and cut a hole for it as the builder never vented the dryer vent when the built the home 21 years ago, lots of lint in my attic that they also removed. The clean up was spectacular, they even cleaned up leaves from my flower beds and made everything looks great. They are very thorough on their inspection and WILL get into your attic and take pics of any and all issues. Aron was my rep and Steven the project manager. Both very attentive to our needs. They are even coming back to power spray my house and driveway as part of the deal.

The Interview Process

My home. My roof. It’s the single biggest protection from the elements. It takes care of me and my family. It’s also a big investment when replacing it. My career with Corp. America placed me in the role of negotiating the best services and products from vendors. Finding a trusted roofer to replace a big, expansive and complicated roof on my home was difficult. The interview process was arduous, and challenging, always looking to ask the right questions despite knowing answers were always rehearsed and usually disingenuous - the roofer always looking to close a deal. It got to the point where I almost anticipated answers to my questions. Every roofer seemed the same, playing the same games. It felt securing their “uplift,” an arbitrary increase in price, based on my large, beautiful property was their primary objective in the “wild west” of pricing in the PNW.

It was not an easy process to navigate. Some roofers were less savvy than others, and easier to spot, others, required far more interviewing and online investigation. Eventually, I understood the game. I interviewed many advertised roofing companies over the course of a week. Finding an ethical, roofer with a quality roofing system, a solid warranty, flexible and ethical financing options, and an outstanding reputation shouldn’t be this difficult.

Christina and Christian of Sound Performance Roofing were the last roofers interviewed. Their arrival at the house was unlike the others. Sleek, clean-cut, personable, professional, and fully prepared with everything for a productive meeting - that instantly set them apart from the others, and their “can do” attitude was uniquely theirs. They exuded professional confidence of ethical morality. I liked them instantly. Both insisted on inspecting the attic to determine an all-inclusive scope of work. Their inspection was the most complete and thorough, moving from corner to corner in the attic as they photographed observations. Their assessment was far more detailed than others, and while it presented much information, they also tempered content with factual assurances and a plan to move forward with viable options, all within the initial scope of work. So thorough was their inspection, that it cast doubts on all other assessments. That was impressive!

The two detailed the proposed scope of work, showing me examples of their roofing system components. What impressed me the most was their meticulous attention to mitigating water damage to the plywood sheathing, leading edges, and at flash points. Their Dow Corning shingles are impressive, heavy, solid, and most importantly, infused with zinc and copper granules designed to deter moss, alga, and fungal growth, a known problem in the PNW. No other roofer made mention of such a product. I thought it was an impressive understanding and mastery of not only the PNW’s environment, but also, how to mitigate its effects.

The two also helped secure the best-possible price for the entire scope of work, applying whatever discounts possible, and even going the extra mile when we discussed “out of the box” options for payment and financing, by contacting their financial manager at their main office. Their final pricing was BELOW all other bids and included a 50-year warranty on materials, and a ten-year warranty on labor and workmanship, something no other roofer offered. Truly impressive! So remarkable was my interaction with them, that I’ve introduced them to my circle of professionals working in the real estate industry. Yeah – I think highly of Christina and Christian!

The work on the roof commences in a few days, while the weather remains good. It’s anticipated their large crew will complete installation within a day and a half. I’m looking forward to completing this review, because I’ve not been as excited about working with people of this high level of personal and professional integrity.

Nice looking roof for us. Lacey area. And it has rained hard... No leaks. 4 skylights flashed correctly, fixed gutter problems on the North side with proper flashing. Hard working team of 4&5 guys. Clean up and yard care was excellent. Roofs are a big investment and we are happy to have our home well protected from the elements. Thks SPR guys‼️
