Sound Home Exteriors

I hired Chris and his team for a project that included installing outdoor deck heaters, running electrical to a sauna, pouring a concrete slab, raising a backyard fence, and reinforcing sagging front steps. The entire experience was frustrating, expensive, and ultimately dangerous. I have had to redo nearly every facet of their work myself or pay to have it redone. It's been over a year and a half and I am still dealing with the consequences of their actions.

Major issues:

Unlicensed, unqualified electrical work: Chris sent workers with no credentials to do complex electrical installations. The deck heaters later shorted out and nearly caused a fire. I later discovered no permit had ever been filed, and multiple licensed electricians confirmed the work was illegal and unsafe. I had to pay over $6,000 to correct it.

Terrible communication: Workers would show up unannounced, or not at all when scheduled. I was left in the dark constantly.

Sloppy workmanship: They damaged interior walls during electrical work, used cheap materials, finishing work is amateur, and failed to complete basic tasks like installing latches on the new fence gates.

No project oversight: Chris was almost entirely absent from the job, only showing up to collect checks. I ended up acting as the de facto foreman, managing his crew myself.

Unsafe installation: In addition to the faulty and illegal electrical work. They mounted a 60-pound sauna heater using just two drywall screws. The screws broke the night it was installed and it fell off the wall, damaging the sauna floor. I had to remount it myself to ensure it was safe.

Disrespectful behavior: Chris was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility for the problems his team created.

If you're considering hiring Sound Home Exteriors — don’t. This company put my home at risk with negligent work and left me with a huge mess to fix. I’ve since reported them to WA State Labor & Industries for code violations and potentially working with a suspended license.

Fair prices and extremely high quality work. Chris and team brought the front of our 120 year old north Tacoma home back to its former glory. Don’t go anywhere else if you’re looking to improve your homes exterior

Chris has provided multiple services at my property. He repaired damaged siding / trim, as well did some work on various windows. He was always prompt with communication and expectations. Highly recommend for any and all exterior needs. I would use again in the future.

We had doors, custom black trim windows, both interior and exterior trim installed. The interior trim matches our existing trim beautifully. We also had an additional added, plus a window enlarged. The workers were outstanding, cleaned up mess every day they were there. Chris the owner listened to our needs, and not to mention great pricing he provided. We have had Sound Home Exteriors do two projects, a new roof and new siding. Chris was very responsive to my initial requests. During the estimate and consultation, he went over all of our options, pointing out which he viewed as the best aligned to our situation. Neither time was it the costliest of options. Both projects were started quickly, were completed within the stated time frames and have proven to be high quality workmanship.

It was a long difficult project, but the results were worth it. We get a lot of compliments from people walking by, especially from those who remember the house pre-renovation.

The team was efficient and cleaned up after themselves and I haven't had to think about my walls since they finished, so great job!

We hired Sound Home Exteriors to replace our siding and several of our windows. The crew that came to do our siding was quick, cleaned up super well, and were super respectful. The window installer was lovely, he truly cared about how every window looked and gave us advice on how to clean up the brick on the lower layer of the house. Chris was very responsive and when there was any issues he responded and fixed them immediately. Would recommend Sound Home Exteriors.

I saw chris' crew working on my neighbor's house and they looked like they were doing good work quickly so I hired Sound Home Exteriors to build my deck. unfortunately a different crew showed up and began a 2 month experience. Yes, 2 months. The crew rarely showed up on time if at all. They showed up with their kids who sat out in the car and had to use our bathroom. I had to go out almost every day to oversee what they were doing and correct them. It was amazing! After they were "done" I had Chris come out and take a look and he seemed happy with it but I pointed out that 1/3 of the boards were loose, not screwed in, they were uneven, miter cuts were all over the place. I had him bring the guys back a few times and then he finally brought in a new crew who did their best to make it look ok. I guess the quality of work just depends on the crew he sends out. I got the stoner crew. It was a long, drawn out and painful experience. I've waited to see how it ages. Its been 1.5 years and frankly it just gets worse with age. Can not believe I spent 15K on this.

Sounds home did a phenomenal job installing and painting a pergola in my backyard. The construction was professional, timely, and at a reasonable cost. Definitely would use this company and crew again!

The wife and I first met Chris at the spring Tacoma Home and Garden show. We talked about replacing the siding on my residence. He discussed options and described the products he uses, then scheduled us for an inspection. After viewing our home, he made a couple of suggestions and completed his bid. I was surprised at his price, expecting it to be much more. We immediately agreed to side 2 walls of the house and the required paperwork was completed, and the day set for the work to begin. His crew showed up on time and ready to work. After watching them for a while, it was very apparent this crew has been together for a while and each knew what needed to be done.
The job was completed in 3 days and looked fantastic! We were so impressed we asked Chris to do the 3rd side of the home. He gave us the price for that side, again it was less than I expected. His crew showed up again on time and completed the installation in one day. We are very pleased with the outcome of this project. The crew respected our property, kept the debris to a very minimum and were very professional. I highly recommend this company for quality of work, price and professionalism.

The crew was professional, polite, and prompt. They discussed each aspect of the window installation with me (four large windows, one over 12 feet wide), did fabulous work, and went the extra yard (if not ten yards) to make sure I was happy with the job. I highly recommend this crew as I felt entirely comfortable with them at my house and even asked them for additional bids on other projects needing to be addressed. These guys were able to completely replace our siding on our house. Efficient and everything looks great. I would recommend them. Although not a fun thing to write a check for, it was done properly and quickly.

We used Sound Home Exteriors to replace the windows and sliding glass door in our home. We gathered 3 quotes and these guys were the winning bid. Chris came out for the estimate and he has a no pressure approach. He walks you through the options he offers gives you price on the spot. He stands on the high quality reputation his company has built. And now that our project is done, I can tell you that reputation is well deserved. The quality of the windows is fantastic and a giant upgrade from the old builder grade windows they replaced. I can’t say enough about their installer Josh. He worked his tail off and stayed late to finish up the last window rather than leave us hanging. This is a local small business who take pride in improving and upgrading homes around Puget Sound.

I went to the Tacoma Home Show and met Chris. I had no intention of getting siding on my rental house built in 1951, but knew I needed to start budgeting for it. The 1951 cedar wood shingles where pretty brittle, held together with MANY layers of paint. Chris came over and gave me such a great deal that was much less than what I had been quoted 4 years ago. I went ahead and hired his company to do the job. My tenants said they were awesome, cleaned up every night, went around the jobsite with a magnet to pick up any possible nails. The siding looks fabulous! This house doesn't look like 1951 anymore!

The owner Chris is amazing, I had two difficult windows installed and the project took five hours longer than expected. The installer Josh worked hard all day to get the windows in and replace some dry rot on my house that I did not know was there. Very affordable, very professional, incredible job done. It’s hard to find good customer service and I would recommend them for any job!

Sound Home Exteriors removed and added a patio leanto to the house. The old one had a rotted post, didn't cover the entire patio area and had some gaps between it and the house. Sound Home Exteriors did a great job constructing the new one with quality materials. They were also quite clean too. No debris left behind. We will be using them again.

You can add Bathroom Remodeling to their repertoire. We met Chris at the Tacoma Remodeling Expo '21 early spring & by late summer made our decision on custom bathrooms with Chris. This past November Paul his master craftsman got started on the job. He was reliable, professional & considerate. We had specific details that we wanted to see in each bathroom. With their creative help we felt like we got what we wanted ~ an experience!

Great work and a great crew. I'm very happy with the quality all around with getting the new roof installed and would highly recommend giving them a call.

We used Sound Home Exteriors for a few exterior items (Siding, Fascia and Gutters), the installation crew was very professional, and the quality of their work was above our expectations. The pricing that was offered was reasonable with various financing options also available if necessary. I would highly recommend Chris for any exterior home project. He is a straightforward no-nonsense kind of a guy, and his quality of work and prices are very reasonable.

Superior, Swift & Affordable Service
Chris and his exceptional team took on a daunting project to replace the roof on our Victorian home (6 gables) with only 2 weeks to close on the sale of our home. The quote was eminently reasonable and his team showed up ready to work 2 days later. Upon discovering structural issues on our chimney they worked coordinated with a chimney repairman to leave him room to work as they proceeded with the remainder of replacement. They completed the project 2 days prior to closing and the roof on our 132 year old home has never looked better. Phenomenal, professional, knowledgeable service at a great price. You can't do better than this.

I had a roof leak near my chimney. They answered my call on the first try and were able to swing by the next day for a quick look. The guy who came out was very professional and showed me exactly what he found. It ended up being a quick repair to my chimney flashing and he took care of it in about 20 minutes. Really awesome service!

I needed the replacement of elements of my exterior trim due to weathering and wood rot. The work was done quickly and professionally. Both the watertight integrity and the appearance of my home were vastly improved. I am very pleased with the results.

Just got a new 50 year roof and new gutters on my house. The crew they send was super friendly, punctual and clean. Roof looks amazing and so do the gutters. The owner Chris was on top of everything from the financing part to the final inspection. Nice to see that kind of professionalism!

Met Chris at an expo at Washington State Fair grounds. I needed a roof and repairs to inside and outside of my house. He gave me a quote for every thing and it was very Reasonable. The roof was done in five hours and the inside and outside projects were completed in two days and the finished work is fantastic.
