SD built out a small retail establishment for us in a timely and professional manner. Over the years, we've gotten a lot of compliments about the look and feel of our space. It's not easy to make a commercial space feel homey and inviting. Hire these guys if you truly want Something Different than your average contractor.

We used Dave for a gut and replace kitchen renovation on Cap Hill. Dave was amazing to work with. He offered advice when we were uncertain and also when we were making questionable decisions. He diplomatically nudged us in the right direction. All work was completed within the schedule and to the highest levels of craftsmanship. We were so pleased with his work (and value) we used Something Different Contracting for a gut and rebuild efficiency project. The result was spectacular and ultimately gained recognition in architectural publications. This could not have been achieved without the attention to detail by Dave (and his talented crew).

Dave successfully diagnosed a complicated water leak. And managed a number of roof repairs. We greatly appreciate his expertise and excellent customer service. We’ll definitely call him again when we need assistance.

Dave is the most knowledgeable contractor! He came by to help us diagnose a leak in our ceiling and ended up also helping with a random clicking outlet and bathroom exhaust fan. He is a jack of all trades and couldn't be nicer. I highly recommend him!

Totally unprofessional. Driver puts van in reverse and hits my car then proceeds to drive off. I have to follow them until they park.
Doesn't want to share insurance information and then gets other day labors at Home Depot to give me a hard time while the police come. BTW they forced him to provide insurance info. They are not stand up enough to make it right when it comes to a minor fender bender imagine when they do something wrong on your home renovation project and won't own up to that...

I've been a tenant of Dave's for years now and could not be happier with him as a landlord. Since moving in Dave has always been very responsive and, while there's been little maintenance I've needed since the home is in such great shape, whenever there is he handles it immediately. I've heard absolute horror stories from friends about their experiences with their landlords in DC and I'm so appreciative to Dave and his professionalism. He truly cares about his tenants and it's evident.

Something Different Contracting did a wonderful job building a sunroom on the back of our house. We hired them because of Dave’s expertise, responsiveness, and transparency, and we appreciated that throughout the construction process. Our project manager Amilcar was on site quite often and was awesome to work with - always helpful and patient when questions or hiccups came up, and his crew was great as well. They were skilled, professional, and went the extra mile to ensure the air quality was as good as possible for our two little kids during construction.

The work took longer than originally projected, between the supply chain and a couple weeks off on both sides due to illness etc., so we spent a lot of time together, but it went well and was all worth it! Thanks to design decisions made with the knowledge and experience from SDC the new room blends almost seamlessly with our old 1920s house, more than we ever thought possible. We’re so happy with it and are glad we chose SDC.

Dave and his team did an amazing job renovating our basement. They delivered the project within a week of the contract time, but that delay was due to our choice of flooring not being available yet. I can’t say enough about the quality, the competitive pricing, the ease of working with them, and the professionalism. We will definitely be contacting them for future projects.

Something Different has managed several projects for me, and is always professional and leaves the job site finished and clean. Attention to small details makes all the difference.

This owner while I was living at his property did not follow proper protocol on move out and did not fix things in a timely manner. The one item he did fix took over a week and he was yelling and I was the one with no AC. Watch out for your security deposit. You may have to take legal action. I just personally took it as a learning lesson while doing business with something different. I didn’t feel it was worth my time.

His business does not have the proper controls to really make his customers happy on a substantial level. He’s more political than anything so you may get along with him more if you’re a woman. Or not familiar with quality.

I hired Something Different Contracting to install a ducted AC system for the second floor of my rowhouse. The project was done on time and at budget. Dave's crew was very clean and professional. Would recommend.
