I could not be happier with David.
He shows up on time and he keeps things clean. He's done some simple things, like repairing damage in walls. But also major jobs like replacing 2nd floor windows!
All in all he can do a lot, and the costs are reasonable!

We recently purchased a new rental property and Dave helped in updating a few things around the house, painting, trim, interior and exterior doors and he was beyond excellent, from start to finish.

We had a room on our 3rd floor that we tore the carpet and wallpaper out of. When tearing the wallpaper off, the paper on the drywall was left visible. We reached out to David and he stopped by for a walkthrough and to help us understand what needed to be done.

David promptly got us a detailed estimate with cost breakdowns and was able to start on the project quickly. He applied multiple coats of mud to the walls, then sanded and painted them. He also installed plywood boxes around the insides of the built-in drawers, which previously were left exposed to the crawlspace and prone to critters.

He was extremely communicative about when he would be on site and progress of the project. He was prompt and on time every day he said he would be on site. He was detail oriented and neat. I'm pretty sure the room was cleaner than we had left it.

Overall, we are extremely happy with David and already have our next project planned with him! Attached are the before and after pics. It is a completely new room!

We recently hired David to tackle the walls and ceiling of a room on the third floor of our house that we removed wallpaper and carpet from in 2021…and that we had done nothing to since! He repaired the drywall which had been badly damaged when I impulsively removed the wallpaper, filled in cracks and holes, and painted the walls and ceilings. He also built plywood boxes to shore up the existing built-in units in the room, which rodents had established a stronghold in over the years. His estimate was thorough and clear, communication was fantastic, and the work was meticulous. David was an absolute pleasure to work with and we are already discussing future projects — we are just so impressed with Slaght Homes!

I hired Slaght Homes to install an egress window in our basement and my only regret was not hiring David (owner) sooner. For context, I had a handyman install a window in our garage the month before, and seeing the quality difference between a handyman and David is like comparing Red Green to Ron Swanson.

David came by to hear what we had in mind. From the get-go, he distinguished himself just by listening and not upselling. That was reflected in his quote, which he furnished the very next day; it was the most attractive of the few we had gathered. A few days later he showed up exactly when he said he would, fastidiously prepped the site, and set right to work. Two days later we had a beautiful new window and a basement that was even cleaner than we had left it. Thanks to his professionalism, the process was effortless on our end. But dear god, the amount of work this man did—by himself no less—was immense: excavating a 6x5-foot hole by hand, cutting through 12 inches of nearly 100-year old concrete, not to mention removing all that debris ... it was impressive to see it happen so quickly, and all by just one guy. He didn't just do the job the way he said he would and at a competitive rate, but he went above and beyond. He gave me an exact breakdown of the costs, what he had done, the receipts for all the materials, everything. It was a level of transparency that blew me away, and knowing that he stands behind his work gave me the sense that what he had just done for our home wasn't simply adding some daylight, but real value as well. Thanks for your professionalism and hard work, David!

David did a great job installing a new wall, an oak stair railing, and large, custom-made cabinet doors. He was very professional and showed up on time, plus he gave me great recommendations. David did the work on schedule, and his work is very good - with an eye to detail. He is also very neat and clean. I would highly recommend David. You will be delighted with his professionalism, knowledge, neatness, and his pride in work.

David was great to work with. I had an idea of what I wanted and David fulfilled my ideas and went above and beyond with some of his own design ideas.
His finished carpentry skills are excellent.

Slaght Homes did a great job remodeling our single dwelling in San Diego, CA. This work included: demolition, shore up the roof, reframe primary bedroom-bathroom-closet, replace all electrical wiring and boxes, install new lighting, replace plumbing and bathroom fixtures, build out shower/bath and install tile, install insulation in interior and exterior walls, replace all interior and exterior doors and windows, replace heating and cooling, drywall installation, new flooring, exterior stucco repairs, paint whole house inside and out, deluxe trim package, decorate with new Ikea furniture. David Slaght, as general contractor and craftsman, was efficient and timely in managing the remodeling work.

Successfully repaired all deferred maintenance problems in my house. Before every specific repair, I received an estimate. David consistently honored these estimates. When I had to change the scope of the repair, David helped me understand cost and time implications. I strongly recommend David's services.
