Honestly my first impressions weren't very good as they had an employee at my place that abandoned his job and did a pretty terrible job before he left. Luckily, we expressed our concerns with the company and they were able to send out a different group of guys that did an excellent job at fixing his shoddy work and going above and beyond to make things better for us. Given that the one employee no longer is with them (at least that's what I understood) I would definitely recommend this company.

Hired Skabelund to repair some leaky rain gutter joints last Fall. They made the first “repairs” in November, but it rained a couple of weeks later and it was very apparent that their “repairs” made the problem much worse. I tried contacting them about the issue several times before they finally responded and sent someone to resolve the issue more than a month later, but the next time it rained the new joints were still leaking very badly. I tried reaching out again; once via email and twice via phone but never received a response. I only paid $300 for the work, but it has proven completely worthless, and the customer service response has been horrible. Based on other reviews, this seems like a company to either love or hate. Must depend on who handles your project.

If you're considering Skabelund Roofing for your home, think again. Here are the top three critical mistakes we encountered:

1. Improper Nailing of OSB Sheeting: The crew attempted to secure new OSB sheeting over old nails that were neither removed nor properly hammered down. I ripped off the sheet in the picture by hand.

2. Non-Code Compliant Valleys: The roof valleys were installed incorrectly, not adhering to building codes. This mistake is a common cause of leaks and water damage, which could compromise the entire roof system.

3. Incorrect Feltex Installation: The protective underlayment (Feltex) was installed with gaps where the upper sheet should have overlapped the lower one, leaving vulnerable spots exposed.

Had we not inspected the work in progress, these issues might have been covered up by the final layer of shingles, leading to potential leaks and structural damage during the next rain or snow season.

Matt, I encourage you to take responsibility for your mistakes. As you can see from my pictures, I have a good understanding of the work. If the job had been done correctly the first time, I wouldn't have needed to step in and fix the errors.

Skabeland Roofing did a great job in roofing my 1919 bunglaow, and my guest house in the back. They were prompt, courteous, good price, and quality materials. The receptionist always kept me informed in a friendly & professional manner. I am pleased!

The price was comparable to everyone else done in a very timely manner had one call back and they were probably fixed what needed to be fixed.

Contracted with Skabelund Roofing to tear off and reroof our football program’s equipment shed. The crew came on time, performed the work agreed upon, and cleaned the area before they left. Reasonable price for the job we needed. One day, in and out job. Would use again!

Our project took forever to finish! In fact it still isn’t finished. I do not recommend Skabelund Roofing. In fact I have sent a review to their company and posted my review on google. Still I just got a text message asking me to review them again. We still have a leak that I have emailed the company about and have not heard any response! Good luck if you decide to use them.

I expected better from a reputable company. They were booked out several months, but I wasn’t in a big hurry. When we were negotiating prices, they made promises about things they would do for free, but when they started the job, they forgot about the extra stuff. They take a deposit at booking time, but don’t give you a firm date when work will start. The project manager agreed that they wouldn’t leave the dumpster in the middle of the driveway over the weekend so I could get my car into the garage but when Friday came the dumpster was still there. I had to call to get it removed. Once the work starts, they kept with it till the job was completed. They did a halfway job of cleaning up the site but didn’t get the stuff that had fallen in the bushes or into the window wells. There are pieces of roofing sticking out from under the drip edges that weren’t completely cut off, leaving the job for me to do. Good thing that this roof will outlast me so I don’t have to do it again. Advice for prospective buyers, get everything in writing down to the details if you can.

Absolutely was the easiest process I have ever worked through. They communicated well, did a fine job, and were easy to get ahold of. A contractor that returned a call. What a pleasant surprise.

I used to be a big fan of Martin Skabelund Roofing. They reshingled my roof years ago and did a great job. Recently I needed assistance with a leak in my skylight which I was given a bid of $250 to fix. They did not make an appointment but some guys showed up and recaulked around the skylight. The roof still continues to leak and in spite of contact with Marty no one will fix the problem or even show up to meetings. I am very disappointed in this company and will never give a referral for them in the future. By the way it doesn't keep them from sending notices for payment needed even though they did nothing to fix the issue they were paid to fix. I will gladly pay when I receive sufficient services as promised. The company thinks this is an unfair review but they refuse to hold up their end of the commitment that they entered into with me.

The person in charge of putting on new rain gutters was professional in his conduct, and the team was fast and efficient in doing an excellent job! Thank you!

Skabelund Roofing is AWESOME!!! If I could give them 10 stars out of 5, I would! They came to our home to do a bid on our roof replacement and gave us the best price! Next, they did excellent work with the replacement! I was super-impressed with their roofing team as well as their management. They did such a great job that I've recommended them to a number of my clients at the Logan Insurance Agency who've asked for roofing company recommendations. If you want quality work done by an excellent contractor, I highly recommend Skabelund!

After reading a number of reviews on Skabelund Roofing, I don't understand why my experience was so poor. I guess I was expecting a similar experience as my neighbor, who had another roofing company replace their roof a couple of months earlier. Their roof, albeit a little bit smaller than mine, took two days, one to strip the existing roof and one to install the new roof (mine took a week). Each day, they left the home as clean and spotless as it was when they started. My neighbor told me that they didn't pick up so much as one nail or piece of a shingle. I had been referred to Martin Skabelund Roofing so when he called, I assumed he would do a similar job on my roof as the other company did on our neighbor’s roof. When removing our existing roof, shingles were thrown down, striking the exterior walls, railings, air conditioning condenser, sidewalks, driveway etc leaving tar marks all over. The worst wall (the west side of my garage) they did clean after we confronted them (we are still trying to get them cleaned off the other areas of our home). I sent a note to Skabelund which including photos of some of the damage for which I received a call from Marty who told me that I should expect those kind of things when getting a roof replaced. Why should I “expect” that kind of mess when I had seen a very professional job done on my neighbor’s roof. My wife and I worked around our home for a few hours three different days gathering nails, pieces of shingles and other debris from our lawn and landscaping beds as well as sweeping and eventually washing down our entire driveway in an attempt to clean up all the stuff left from their job. When I asked Marty how I was going to get the marks off my house and white railings he told me he didn't know and suggested I go purchase something from a local cleaning supply store. I also sent them photos of the oil stains left on my driveway from their equipment. Additionally, we have an awning over the rear deck of our home that on one end actually attaches to the roof. They made no attempt to replace the brown shingles, which didn't match the new grey shingles) under the awning. A photo of this issue was included in my original note to Skabelund but when Marty called to ask about the problem he told me that since I wasn't a roofer and couldn't speak in roofer terms he would come look at it. After he made an attempt to fix it he called me back and told me "it was the best he could do". I will try to post a photo so you can judge for yourself between what the very best Martin Skabelund could do and what I, (a non-roofer) did by myself (after I had to go purchase shingles as not a single extra was left). After they packed up and left, I sent an email to Skabelund, with photos, expressing my complete unhappiness with the experience I had with them and haven't heard a single word from them. Actually that's the bright spot in this experience because after the way my wife and I have been treated, I don't care to have anything to do with them. I dropped off the payment balance today and am finished with Skabelund Roofing. I truly hope you have a better experience than we did. I will try to include the photos I sent to Skabelund along with a few additional so you can judge for yourself.

Additionally, today's date is Feb 6, 2024. I am adding the following to my original review.

The flashing from the roof to my awning was apparently installed poorly as we have experienced leaks that were not there previously. Given our poor relationship with Marty Skabelund, we contacted the company that originally installed our awning and paid them to come correct the issues causing the leaks.

After having three other prominent roofing companies evaluate our roof, we were told that brand new Skabelund roof had to be removed and replaced.

The team at Skabelund was very responsive and knowledgeable. I really appreciated the prompt service, the thorough inspection and the great advice about my roof gutters from the experienced professional who provided a free consultation and a very competitive bid! We are lucky to have local contractors like the Skabelund company.

We had Skabelund redo our gutters back in April and it was a great price, great work and they were in and out in a 1/2 a day. Fast forward to last Friday's rainstorm. One of the downspouts was near a window and we got massive flooding. Called Skabelund to move the downspout. They came THAT AFTERNOON and got it moved. The technicians were so kind, courteous and amazing. Very affordable, EXCEPTIONAL work and service. Would 110% recommend them for whatever your needs are.

Martin and his crew did our roof 11 yrs ago, we’ve had zero problems until this last big storm when a little water got through some gaps on sewer vent. Martin personally came out the day I called and sealed it free of charge. He is a nice guy and I’d recommend them.

Exceptional customer service. I first called them a year ago when my roof had a crazy leak that dumped a lot of water into my kitchen. He came out quickly and determined the problem, explained to me how to fix it (easy fix for my handy husband) and the problem was solved. I called them again yesterday about a different leak, he came out right away and found and fixed the problem within minutes. It poured rain last night and no more leak. Thank you!!

A contracted price was agreed upon last winter and in March the price was raised by $150. We arrived in Utah in April 2022 and this company came at the end of April to install leaf guards. When the bill arrived three weeks later the office person claimed we were late paying. The bill was pre dated March. We weren't even in Logan that early. We've had constant misunderstandings and clarifications with them. Product is great but the company is too difficult to bother using

This company was very great to work with. They made an inspection, gave a quote, and even recommended the color of roof to match the house. Gave us some options of home roofs to go look at. Prompt and efficient.

Timely, professional, and good quality. Had an issue with some nails being left around the house on the ground but after I addressed it they did a very thorough job of cleaning. Had a completely new roof installed due to a wind storm and we have not had any issues yet!

My roof was damaged from a wind/hail storm. Skabelund roofing did a thorough inspection and repaired my roof quickly. I had one small concern about an area of flashing and they were quick to respond and came back to rework that area the next day. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!

Martin Skabelund roofing was an excellent company to work with. They inspected our roof when we were buying our house and they gave us two separate quotes, metal vs asphalt. They were always prompt and professional, so when it came time to replace our roof we called them. They had us scheduled and our installation done quickly. Every employee that I encountered was always professional and nice, even though it was 100 degrees out when they were working. I was glad to see that when it came time for my neighbor to replace her roof, she called them as well. Highly recommend.

I had this company do a tear off and new roof installation. The crew was inexperienced. During the shingling, one side of the of the roof, a 50 ft. long section, was done so poorly it had to be ripped off and redone. In the process the vapor barrier was torn up, and partially off and not replaced. The roof began leaking and after many phone calls the owner refused to even look at it and was very rude insisting the roof did not leak. He never looked at it. Also the drip edge was improperly installed and was causing water damage on the facia board. As well the flashing was poorly done and unsightly. Overall it was a very poor job and refusal up to address problems. It will be torn off AGAIN and redone, but not by this company. Avoid this company.

Skabelund roofing fixed a few items on our townhouses that had been damaged by a wind storm. They responded quickly which was important as we were needing it fixed before it snowed. While their service tech Michael was here he notice a vent missing that we were unaware of and he let me know about it and was able to fix that on the same day as well. Thanks to Martin Skabelund, Michael Mortensen and the rest of the Skabelund roofing crew!

After the new roof was finished I got up on the roof and found several areas of poor workmanship. I pointed out these areas of concern and Skabelund was quite angry. I hired a professional roofer to fix the the new roof . No clean up and roofing nails all over the lawn

Do not hire this company to work on your metal roof. A week after they installed my metal roof it was snowing inside my cabin. They came 3 times to fix it but obviously had no idea what they were doing. Im sure they are good with shingle roof but have no clue how to work on metal

They did a GREAT job and workmanship is excellent. Did the job in 2 days. Addressed my concerns as they came up. I would have them do another roof in a heartbeat.

They were the only roofers to follow through after tying to get someone even do a bid for 3 months. Started looking in February, heard about them May, had a bid within hours!!

A bit on the higher side; however, the quality is there and they are willing to correct any potential problems with their work. Gives peace of mind.

While I have yet to have the roof put on, I can tell you that these guys were SO professional from the get-go. I got a call the same day I made an inquiry. I also called several other roofers to get multiple bids. Two others never even called back (to this day), and one was just plain rude on the phone. I had a written bid in my email In-box within a couple of days even though they were scheduling their work a couple of months out (which they indicated). I'm pretty picky when it comes to contracts and such, so I had a few questions, which they responded to promptly and they answered thoroughly. While I could have gone with another bid that was lower, you know the old saying, "the past is the best predictor of the future". The professionalism and communication of this company made me feel at ease that what I will get will be nothing short of a professionally-done roof. There is a reason they are busy folks. Just sayin . . . I'll come back to let you know how they did with the roof. So far, I'm pleased . . .

We have a family cabin up at Bear Lake that needed a new roof. I called several roofing companies, several I never heard from. Skabelund not only answered their phone but got me back an estimate within 24 hours. They have me options, wasn't high pressure, and listened to me in a couple special requests I wanted done. Ultimately we decided to go with them due to the fact the other bids took weeks or longer to get and we’re all competitive. I definitely do not regret the decision to go with them. They kept me informed the entire time, we’re always fast in their response to my questions, and did an amazing job. Thank you Matt for your professionalism and knowledge. Great roofer. Skabelund Roofing did a great job on our metal roof. They went out of their way to make it correct. The roof was done on time with an affordable price. I would definitely recommend Skabelund Roofing!!

We had a tight time frame for getting our roof done and they got it done. Our whole roof was torn off & shingles put on within about 9 hours. The workers were polite & tried to keep the mess to a minimum. The price was comparable to other roofers and we chose the shingle color. A good experience for sure.

They installed the roof on new construction. We had an ice dam with water intrusion into the wall and drywall tape bubbling, and water down the walls and under hardwood flooring. That was with the heavy snow two winters ago, and not necessarily due to installation, but it needs to be addressed to prevent recurrence. We've been calling for over a year asking them to take a look and install ice melt cabling. We called in the spring and last fall I called twice and was told each time that they would be there in two weeks to look at it. They never showed up. I called again now and was told that they had no record of a bid to do the work (because they never gave me a bid, because they never showed up to look at it ...) and that I was never on the schedule. I suggested that if I wasn't on the schedule it was because they failed to put me on the schedule, and regardless, they installed the roof and it needs to be addressed. I was told to call someone else because they are too busy. That is extremely poor customer support.

Great contractor to work with. Their pricing and quality of work was top notch. Their crew was very respectful and hard working (in dress, language, and work effort). They were timely and responsive to questions and did a great job on a huge project (tear off and new roof). Would highly recommend if you're looking for a roofing contractor.

Skebelunds did the roof on my new house and they were competitive on price with the other bids I got and sold me a better warrantied product for the same price. I have been very happy with the work done and the only problem that I had come up they went above and beyond to handle for me. I will use them again in the future for any roofing needs I have.

Marty's crew did a major re-roofing job for me in early summer 2017. They did excellent work, both in the tear-off and clean-up as well as in the actual laying of new shingles. Part of the job was replacing cedar shake shingles on a log cabin roof that required extra time and skill. Marty and his son did that part of the job themselves. I was fully-satisfied with their work and the work of their crew. 2380 N 800 E, North Logan,UT.

We had Marty and his crew resurface 2/3 of our roof. They did a marvelous job back in 2010, and our roof still looks as it was resurfaced yesterday!

This is truly professional company with devoted employees. I was really happy with their work and how fast they finished my roof. I honestly recommend them!
