The rental office is away from the airport off-site; strike one. They make you wait outside in the elements and their staff is slow; strike two. When you need follow-up customer service after the rental is turned in, they are radio-silent; strike three. If I have a choice in the future, I will NOT use this company.

La voiture mise à disposition avait un défaut majeur au niveau du freinage (usure) touchant à la sécurité.
Il a fallu ramener la voiture à l'agence pour obtenir un autre véhicule.

Les 2 étoiles sont attribuées pour la non difficulté rencontrée pour le changement de véhicule.
Après demande de notre part un véhicule de classe supérieure a été mis à disposition.

Alprincipio cuando llegamos me enoje mucho pq según tienen un bus que recoje en el aeropuerto para luego llevar al lugar de renta de auto pues nosotros estuvimos esperando una hora y nunca llegó y tuvimos que ir en un uberpero después estuvo todo bien con el carro y la para devolver el auto fue todo rápido y la atención fue muy buena con el muchacho que nos tocó muy atento .

This car rental service was amazing they pick you and drop you off with the shuttle service and my flight was delayed and we arrived after closing hours they were compassionate to stay after hours to help us get our rental since our bnb was far out great service definitely recommend

don't rent a car here, lots of hidden fees, false advertising on their website and the staff gave me attitude, except for the shuttle driver -- he was cool. i'm still waiting on my refund because with the hidden fees it was about 500$ more than what my booking invoice said so i decided not to rent the car after all. they promised i would be refunded within 24hrs but it's been days now so i may have to dispute this with my credit card company if i don't get my refund soon. very disappointing.

We arrived on time to pick up our car, only to be told that the vehicle we had reserved wasn’t available because the previous customer hadn’t returned it, even though it was already over an hour late. The staff claimed they couldn’t reach the customer and offered us an “upgrade” for an extra $30 to $50 per day, which we found completely unfair since the issue was not our fault.

They said we could wait 20 to 30 minutes to see if the car would be returned, which we reluctantly agreed to, tired, hungry, and late at night. Eventually, they gave us a different car (slightly better than the one we booked), and only after much insistence did they waive the additional charge, which, frankly, was the right thing to do.

What was even more frustrating was the mandatory insurance fee they charge on-site, without any clear prior notice. It was around $35 per day, and although we managed to get a discount using a credit card, it still felt like a forced expense that should have been communicated upfront.

Then there was a daily toll device fee of around $7.50–$8.00, again not clearly explained before. If we didn’t pay it, we’d be charged for each individual toll plus a $10 fine per toll. It’s excessive, especially considering that we only drove on toll roads during two of the five days. It feels like a very abusive practice, especially for visitors who expect to pay what they booked, not deal with surprise charges at the counter.

In the end, you think you’re paying one price for a car rental, and they hit you with all these unexpected add-ons.

The only positive parts of the experience were that the car itself was in good condition, the transfer service worked well, and the staff were polite and professional. But overall, I would not rent with this company again due to the lack of transparency and unfair pricing practices.

I had a great experience with Sixt. Check in was handled by Gianeliz and was fast, courteous and efficient. I was delayed 4 hours but given a free upgrade even after arriving well past my rental window started. Shoutout Gianeliz!

This is a great company to rent from. I did an 8-day rental with a compact car. I stepped outside of the airport and saw their company truck waiting. I gave them my name and I was driven to their rental location right away (literally right next to the airport- less than a five minute drive). I was able to get my car within twenty minutes of filling out paper work and adding extra insurance. I was a little confused on why I needed a second insurance when I bought one online and I am still on the fence about whether it was necessary as the nice agent explained. Sixt gave me a Kia in great condition-not brand new but good enough: some characteristics such as the wear of the seats and the malfunction of the window control on the driver’s side (the one used to close the copilot window). On my second to last day with the car, the Kia engine malfunctioned so I called Sixt and within two hours someone came to my location with a new car (different vehicle, still compact). The replacement vehicle drove just fine, it did have very noticeable prior damages but I was not discouraged by that because it drove well and it was my second to last day in Puerto Rico. I will say that you do have to call Sixt quite a few times before you actually get through to someone to help. Drop off was super easy. Within less than 10 minutes I had dropped off the car and was in the Sixt shuttle to the airport.

I highly recommend this company and their businesses in Puerto Rico. I scheduled a car just a handful of days before I picked it up from the Aguadilla airport. I wanted to hold onto it a few days later and they were very flexible with me doing that before I return it to the San Juan airport. Great customer service and great prices!

I was really let down by the rental company when I discovered unexpected charges that nearly doubled the initial price. It's disappointing that I had to be so careful with the insurance details to avoid these frustrating surprises! I won’t recommend Sixt or any other car rental companies outside the airport. They charge for liability insurance at a rate of $14 to $15 per day. When I complained at the front desk, the staff member responded sarcastically, saying I should have read the fine print before making the reservation. This type of attitude towards tourists and locals is frustrating, especially since people know that in Puerto Rico, the only way to get around is by renting a car.

Smooth check in and check out. There's a 200$ hold on my credit card for a few days. They had cars available when others didn't. You can book online and pay later. There's also a shuttle from the airport to the location. It's about 10 minutes.

My only gripe. I wish they would provide phone holders since their cars at least my versa didn't have a Bluetooth GPS cell phone adaptability.

The woman who attended me was great. The service was slow. My pick up time was for 1pm. I didn't leave that location till 2:10pm. So I was not pleased about that. I had quicker service at enterprise and Alamo. The prices are miss leading. When signing up to get the car online it said nothing about a 500 or 250 dollar deposit. It also didn't say how much the tolls would be. So yes I was not pleased with that either.
Great customer service with the woman but the rental company is miss leading. I do not recommend this place to others unless it's a last resort. Sorry I wish I can give a better review.

This rental experience was disappointing from start to finish. I rented from Sixt in San Juan from July 8 to July 15, and the service fell well below expectations. The car I reserved was not available, and the replacement had a serious issue — the trunk didn’t open at all after the first day. That’s not a minor inconvenience; it’s a basic function that made the vehicle unsuitable for travel with luggage. When I emailed about this, I was only offered a refund for the upgrade I was forced to pay due to Sixt not having the car I originally reserved. There was no attempt to actually fix the problem.

The issues didn’t stop there. When I returned the car, I had to wait an excessive amount of time for the airport shuttle. I asked several members of the staff about the delay, but no one gave a clear or satisfactory answer. The lack of communication only added to the stress before my flight.

While I eventually received a partial refund and a generic apology after multiple emails, the response felt like a box-checking exercise rather than a real effort to make things right. For a company of this size, I expected better accountability and customer service.

As it stands, I certainly would not rent from this location again and wouldn’t recommend others do either.

Rente un carro con ellos usando booking, cuando llegue me di cuenta que había perdido mi licencia de conducción por lo que no me permitieron continuar con la reserva que ya estaba pagada. La persona que me atendió me sugirió realizar otra reserva con otro conductor y que me comunicara para que me hicieran la devolución, ante lo cual me afirmo que si devolverían el dinero así que seguimos su consejo.
Tiempo después de solicitar el reembolso me informan que el establecimiento negó el reembolso ya que el error fue mío por no tener mi licencia.
Fui pésimamente asesorado y perdí demasiado dinero por ello.
No recomiendo en lo absoluto tomar una reserva de vehículo aquí.

Sixt was a life saver for me. First time using them. Usually I rent cars from another vendor however, I made a mistake b/c apparently I failed to complete the reservation process on line. When I showed up to pick up the car vendor informed me I did not have a reservation. In fact, they did not have cars available that day or for several days. The vendor them recommended me to check with Sixt. Sixt did have cars and I was able to enjoy my vacations since Sixt saved my life: very good and attentive staff. Sixt will be on my rental list from now on.

Terrible ! They charged $500 to my card without my approval apparently for a minor scratch they pointed out at the time we returned the vehicle . We never saw the scratch before this. The rental agreement read that $150 for repairs , however , they charged us the $500 fee and asked us to deal with our insurance. Don’t rent here ! San Juan, Puerto Rico has a lot of other rent-a-cars that charge less and have better vehicles .

Review of SIX Rent a Car

Unfortunately, my experience with SIX Rent a Car was very unsatisfactory, and I cannot recommend this company. From the beginning, the rental policies were not adequately explained during the vehicle pickup. I received an email with crucial information about these policies, but it was sent only a few hours before the vehicle was due for pickup, leaving me with little time to understand the terms and conditions.

Additionally, I was surprised with several extra charges that were not mentioned at the time of booking. This was extremely frustrating, as I relied on the information provided during the reservation process and did not expect the final costs to vary so greatly.

To make matters worse, the prices were exorbitant. What initially appeared to be a good deal online turned into a financial burden upon arriving at the counter. The numbers changed drastically, leaving me feeling misled and uninformed.

In summary, my experience with SIX Rent a Car was disappointing due to the lack of transparency in their policies and unexpected costs. I recommend others to seek more reliable and straightforward options to avoid similar situations.

Me trataron de cobrar más de $11,000 por un accidente que no fué mi culpa, no hicieron la gestión pertinente para así poder cobrar el seguro de AMEX q les paga más. Wir erhielten ein sehr altes Auto, das nach ein paar Tagen plötzlich nicht mehr ansprang. Wir erreichten Sixt Puerto Rico in diesem Notfall allerdings drei Tage lang nicht, weder per Telefon noch per Email. Erst am vierten Tag wurde uns ein neuer Mietwagen zur Verfügung gestellt, wir wurden allerdings nicht für die entgangenen vier Tage entschädigt, auch nicht für die aufgekommenen Telefon- und Taxikosten. Der Kundenservice ist eine Unverschämtheit, die Hotline tagelang nicht zu erreichen. Ich würde hier nie wieder ein Auto mieten und kann nur davor warnen.

El auto que vi en internet nada que ver con lo que me rentaron, muchos rayones, daños y levemente chocado en la parte delantera. El asesor siempre puso todas sus exigencias pese a que fue muy amable, pero el auto v.s. precio, muy viejo para ser un auto de renta.
Las fotografías que me mandaron después muestran algunos daños pero no todos los que tiene. Y cuando pedí cambio de auto no tenían uno de acuerdo a lo que solicité en la reserva.

This company is based in Germany and treats Puerto Rico (PR)as an international country despite the fact that it is a US territory. In doing so they charge you a secondary insurance fee. They also charge you for a toll package which is crazy because you can't get around PR without paying tolls!! If you don't get the package they will charge you $10 per toll plus the toll fee. DO NOT USE THEM IN PR! The American rental companies do not charge those fees!!!

Car was two years old, 46,000 miles and in terrible condition. Dents and scrapes around, stained seats, and front left bumper dislocated from previous accident. Obvious SIXT glued it back (temporary fix). Kept popping out. Asked if something else was available and lady immediately replied no. Took car back after three days because of preexisting damage. They miraculously had another car available with no major damage or stains. Don’t settle.

Rental aqui es facil y mejor que las otras compañias de rental car y mas bajos precios lo unico es que cobran el peaje $10. Dolares si los pasas sin activarlo eso no me molesta pero tambien el precio del peaje me parece abusivo.....

Muy mala experiencia en SIXT
Todo ocurrió el miércoles en la noche al hacer el check-in. Desde el inicio, el trato de las dos empleadas fue muy descortés, especialmente una de ellas. Yo había reservado una Outlander y me entregaron un Nissan Kicks, que no fue lo que alquilé. Además, mostré evidencia de que ya había pagado el seguro por adelantado, con número incluido, y aun así me cobraron $99 adicionales. No les importó mi reclamo.

También me cobraron el paquete “Roadtrip” de carretera, que estaba dispuesta a aceptar, pero nunca me informaron que lo estaban añadiendo. La gasolina no estaba llena y el millaje era mayor al indicado. Yo estaba tan molesta que solo quería salir de allí y no reclamé todo lo que debía.

El cliente que llegó al mismo tiempo que yo tuvo una experiencia aún peor: le cancelaron su reservación. Para colmo, una de las empleadas dijo de forma burlona: “Déjame darle la mala noticia al Sr. Tal” antes de atenderlo. Increíble falta de respeto y profesionalismo.

No recomiendo a SIXT bajo ninguna circunstancia. Jamás volveré a alquilar con ellos.

Terrible experience with SIXT
Everything happened Wednesday night during check-in. From the start, both employees were very rude—especially one of them. I had reserved an Outlander and was given a Nissan Kicks instead. I showed proof, including my insurance number, that I had already prepaid for coverage, and they still charged me an extra $99. They simply didn’t care.

They also charged me for the Roadtrip highway package, which I was okay with, but they never informed me they were adding it. The fuel tank wasn’t full, and the mileage was higher than stated. I was so upset that I just wanted to leave and didn’t address all the issues.

Another customer who arrived at the same time as I did had an even worse experience: his reservation was canceled. To make things worse, one of the employees said sarcastically, “Let me go give Mr. So-and-so the bad news” before even speaking to him. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful.

I absolutely do not recommend SIXT. I will never rent from them again.

I normally rent through the larger agencies - Hertz and Avis - and was a little hesitant to try Sixt. I saw some reviews that gave me pause about unfairly blaming renters for already-existing dents... But I needed a 7 passenger vehicle and the one at Sixt was 30% less (even with some extra add ons) than it was at Hertz so I gave them a try. I needn't have worried. The process was easy and the car was what we needed. Only nits: it took 20+ minutes for a shuttle to arrive, and we had to wait a good 30 minutes to check in and get the car. Kind of a pain. But the car itself was great. It did have bad dents on the doors, but I documented on my phone camera just in case. Check in was smooth and efficient. I'd absolutely rent with Sixt again.

I can't recommend booking a rental car from Sixt. Despite reserving a car months prior they told me they had no cars when we showed up. My family and I were left without a way of getting to our accommodation and had to scramble to find a place to stay in SJ our first night. Both the local office and corporate customer service were completely unwilling to find a solution. The jokers later offered to rent me a different car at twice the agreed price. Outrageous! Go with another agency. You have been warned.

Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. I was given a car that I didn’t request, and the location was not open early enough for me to return it before my flight. There was also no drop box available for the keys, which made things even more difficult.

I tried calling customer service, which is listed as available 24/7 Monday through Saturday, but no one answered despite multiple attempts. Because of this, I missed my flight.

I hope the company can improve communication and provide better options for after-hours returns in the future.

Dear Sixt Rent Customer Service,

I recently used your car rental services during my trip to Puerto Rico. I want to start by acknowledging the excellent service I received—the shuttle driver who picked me up from the airport and the lady at the customer service office were both very kind and helpful.

However, I regret to say that this was both my first and last time doing business with Sixt. Your website advertises “no hidden costs,” but I found this to be misleading. The hours of operation at your San Juan, PR location are not aligned with the needs of travelers, especially considering that the airport operates 24/7.

My flight was scheduled to depart at 7:00 AM, but your office does not open until 6:00 AM. When I inquired about returning the vehicle earlier, I was informed that I could leave the car at the public airport parking lot for an additional charge of $66.67. The airport parking rates, which are $27.25 for the first day and $18.50 for each subsequent day. This means your company is charging customers more than 50% above the actual parking fee, which I find unacceptable.

I hope you take this feedback seriously and consider adjusting your policies to better serve your customers.

Great service from these guys. Wanted a BMW real bad but initially it wasn’t available on their website so I booked Mitsubishi SUV. When we got there after checking in, we realize they actually had a X5 which is my preferred vehicle and they were able to get us in that even though it wasn’t technically on their website we left with it. Had more than enough utility for us. We had a blast on the island and now I’m looking to move down there. Thanks guys! 10/10

The car itself was extremely basic. No Android Auto, Apple Car Play, not even an automated rear hatch release. But it did get me from point A to point B without a problem.

Be prepared for major inconvenience when renting. Shuttle took 30 mins to get there even though they're about a mile from airport. Then had to wait outside in 90⁰ heat for an hour before they called us. The reason for the long wait was revealed when we signed the paperwork. The cost went from $148 for 6 days to over $450 when they hit us with the hidden fees and "required" extra insurance ($49/day).

I returned the car after 3 days (very easy return process) and went to Denny's next door. Within 20 minutes I got an email detailing the charges showing the full $484.00. Went back and eventually got them to issue a credit for the unused days, but it was still $250 for 3 days.

In the meantime my CC that I had only used at Sixt in the last 60 days was used to make online purchases in the UK starting approximately 3 hours after renting my car. Coincidentally SIXT is a European company. Suspicious?

Pretty straightforward process. We prebooked so most of the paperwork was done before we picked up. Be prepared to have copies of your insurance ready if you don't want to buy theirs. Definitely recommend including the toll pass if you're going on any roads with tolls. Very helpful staff and easy drop off process with a shuttle to the airport.

La espera fue horrible afuera.de las oficinas en medio del calor. Luego de una hora nos entregan un carro sucio y manchado por dentro me queje y me dijeron que lo limpiarian de nuevo y que no tenian mas carros no me quedo de otra solo esperar 15 minutes mas para que lo limpiaran. El costo por u a carro tan sucio fue un insulto como costumer. Y luego la Chica me dice que me asegure de entregar el carro limpio really!!!! Had a great experience with Sixt. The ground transportation to the car rental was on site waiting to take us without delays. They informed the office we were on our way and the Michael (our rep) was explaining us minimizing our wait time to get the car. They provided us with a free upgrade. Returning the vehicle was just as easy. Within a trip I recommended them 3 times already and will for sure without hesitation use them again in the future.

Horrible customer service ! Since we had a flight delayed we arrived at this place 1 hour late. The manager said since we were late the reservation was cancelled. We had to pay an extra $400.00 for the two week stay. The car we had was ridiculous and not of average quality, so much so I thought it would leave us stranded somewhere. They also kept insisting on buying their insurance, because my AAA insurance would not be covered in Puerto Rico. This was a total lie, and we stood ground denying their insurance. After about 15 minutes of debate, they finally gave up and allowed us to leave with our own coverage. I was also charged an extra $9.00 a day to cover for tolls. Which I later found if you pay your own tolls would be a fraction of the cost and definately not $9.00 a day. This was the most frustrating buisness transaction I have ever experienced and would not recommend this place to anyone. Good Luck Sixt Rentals I am one and done !
