Wow., not sure where to start.
Salesperson or coordinator came out I'm not sure his exact title and wont say his name because he was nice, however I think this was just one huge riip off..let me explain how so..
The contract has a scope of work to pull up, remove & replace 10 stair existing treads, stain them & paint the risers & stringers
The owner of the company Servpro chose ( you're paying servpro prices because they're hiring others to do the work..) said they're custom stairs and its too hard or big of a job & Instead of getting into an argument I just told them I don't believe that's true and they're not custom but remained silent as the owner and the Servpro guy told me they are in fact custom stairs ( they are definitely not custom as its a cookie cutter bi level home and I've had flooring specialists there )
They said they could Just put a cover over the stair treads which was fine for me as I just wanted to cover the existing ones so I opted for that since its all they would do and made it clear gbet wouldn't be fulfilling the obligation they gave me a contract for and charged over $5,000 to do.
I expected that since just I know from previous estimates that buying and gluing stair tread covers is a much simpler job that they'd adjust the cost of which I'd already paid 50% for but they didn't.
Perhaps because I'm a woman, and or because I'm an older person they assumed I'm stupid or weak, or viulnerable..im not really sure but when I mentioned it to Clinton he said oh no its a much bigger job (to put on stair tread covers than to rip up and replace the stair treads. ) I assume trying to rationalize as if I'm getting some kind of a deal? .. I told him that is ludacris and I know gluing tread covers on the treads is no comparison to ripping up and replacing the treads but just wanted the work finished and never to deal with serv pro again.
The guy came a few weeks later to put the treads on and he was nice and did 8 stairs as the boss didn't measure properly or buy enough material for the 10 stairs so I had to wait another few weeks.
I looked up the exact treads and color that they used which are about $60 a piece for a 48” tread so I think they just tried to buy less treads and saw them to make more covers because the stairs aren't 48”. I'm not sure of though, I can't imagine mistakenly screwing up just 10 stairs ?
I just wanted to be done with them as the stair tread covers are in no way more work than ripping up and replacing them but the servpro guy that came out disagreed I guess because I'm a woman so maybe thought I'm too ignorant to I know how much less work this was.
The contract also included painting the risers and stringers which they refused to do and incredibly he also said the tread covers were made custom which I kept silent about, not telling him I know they re not custom, they're bought in a 48” tread and noses bought seperate for about $9 each and that exact item I chose ( DV Bay Ridge Oak) come as is at 48” and cost roughly $60 each and the man set up a work area to saw them to fit which is weird i never heard of sawing something to fit that's supposed to be custom.
I let all that go as its not worth it to me to argue over being lied to or even ripped off, but I'm asking now for the invoice to pay the second half which they haven't sent despite asking in texts and emails but they do want me to ironically sign something saying the work was completed which of course would be a lie for me to sign as they never gave me a revised bill with the actual scope of the work and now want me to sign I assume to remove any liability, wanting me to say they ripped up and replaced tthe treads, stained them and that they pained the risers and stairs. None of which they did.
I will just end by saying I'd never recommend serv pro, particularly if you're a woman or an older person as I dont think they'd be so bold to try to tell a man that they work they did was much harder more expensive and time consuming than what they originally proposed to and were paid to do.
Five stars are not nearly enough.
After a spontaneous oven fire, Emily and her crew Patricio, Maria, Barbara and Anthony left our home absolutely spotless.
Can't thank them enough.
Unfortunately back in May, my furnace malfunctioned & caused a “puff back” at my residence in Roscoe,New York. This caused soot everywhere, from the basement to my second floor bedroom. Walls, floors, furniture, closets etc.
Fortunately for me, I reached out to Nick from ServePro out of Middletown, New York. Nick came out the next day to do an inspection & take pictures of the damages. He then reached out to my insurance company, and within a week he scheduled his team to start the clean up.
I refer to them as the “A-Team”. Pat, Julio, Maria, Julian & Barbara. This crew was amazing. Hard working, professional, showed the utmost respect for my personal items. Knowledgeable about the company they represent.
I am so pleased with the job they did, to get my house cleaned from top to bottom.
Kudos to ServePro for providing the best customer service possible.
