Hired Rooster to replace granite in our kitchen we asked if he could match the existing slabs and he said he could do it. Then my wife and I were asked to go pick out the granite?? It all looks the same from a cell phone photo so we ended up picking the complete wrong color. After it was installed incorrectly we had concerns but the color was so far off it was the main issue. They sent out someone who stood in my kitchen and quote said we can’t do anything about buyers remorse. We spent over 4 thousand for the one piece and thank God the supplier of the granite he was so unhappy with the workmanship he offered to replace the other pieces of granite in our kitchen for $2500. I reached out to Rooster via email and he stopped communicating. Maybe I’m new to hiring out work because I usually handle things myself but I would not recommend this process to anyone.

Rooster Remodels is amazing! We originally reached out for a quote on painting but we needed to get some rotting siding replaced first. They came out and quickly discovered that the framing was rotting too. We actually had a 4x12 header that was missing a few feet of itself. If it wasn't for some decorative bricks, a beam that was holding the roof would have fell. They jumped into action and put in a temporary support column immediately. From the start they always sought to protect our floors and minimize dust. They made us feel like a priority, very punctual and the whole team was great to deal with. You can't go wrong with Rooster! We just moved to Port Orchard and I've been in the trades for almost 30 years. It's not often you find contractors this capable and easy to deal with.

My 30 year old home on the Key Peninsula badly needed a kitchen remodel. During my professional career I administered new building as well as remodel construction contracts so I know the characteristics of good contractors and those who are not. I would recommend Rooster to anyone needing remodel work. Primary reasons for this are quality of work, employee professionalism, project management and communication via the daily email updates I received on upcoming work and work pauses.

Rooster Remodels has been a valuable partner to work with on client projects. Kirk and his team are always very responsive to questions and in asking questions vs making assumptions. Their team is always respectful of the clients home, keeping job sites clean, and being through in their installations. Kirk is very quick to communicate and gives regular updates to both my team and to the client. I appreciate their solution focused mindset and in giving our clients an awesome end product. Highly recommended!

I can’t say enough positive things about Rooster Homes LLC! Kirk and his staff came in to repair and finish our primary bath remodel. The original contractor left us with a shower done incorrectly (impacting safety and the aesthetic) and multiple other items done incorrectly and/or just badly finished.
Rooster was responsive on a request for estimate and, after selection for the job, scheduled us as soon as they could and completed the job in less than the timeframe expected. The team member we had (Ryan) was excellent to work with and his work was high quality. Communication was excellent and timely! Integrity is something we value and Rooster brought that to the table. I highly recommend!

Kirk and Brandon were great to work with. They repainted the complete interior of my home. The walls and ceilings were seamlessly painted. All old imperfections were addressed prior to painting.

Kirk and Brandon were always quick to respond to any questions and offered expert advice to any paint questions such as painting different surfaces. They are very customer oriented. I would definitely refer them to a friend. I will be contacting them in the future for more updates to my home.

Thanks for your great work.

So far, Rooster has:
-Remodeled an entire 3 bedroom apartment for us, including flooring, appliances, plumbing and electrical work
-Full public bathroom remodel with 6 showers/6 toilets with new tile work, plumbing adjustments
-Full roof replacement with designs and permitting handled
-designs for an exterior remodel to be completed at a later date with new doors, windows, etc.
Then, today, our water heater went out with no notice. We serve 200 guests with our laundromat/showers/toilets and we had no hot water. I called Kirk and he rescued us. He had someone out with a water heater same day-Roto Rooter gave us a week ETA for restore.
Can't recommend enough. All of the team members and subcontractors are timely, neat, and detail oriented. They take our problems seriously and we will always use Rooster for all of our projects.

We were very happy with Rooster Remodels. We did a fairly large addition and Kirk and his team were very considerate and professional. We appreciated that Kirk was excellent about communicating where we were in the project, what would be happening, and when we could expect people out. Another aspect I appreciate is how helpful Kirk and his team were when the inevitable issues with our older house cropped up and how willing they were to roll with the punches.

Rooster Remodels has done two projects for me. The first was a major remodel of my home back in 2021 and the second (current) is a remodel of my garage. Kirk is always responsive via email and communicates everyday on what is on the agenda for work. They did a magnificent job on my home remodel and I constantly get positive comments on how great my house looks from neighbors and people walking by! I am very happy with the end product and look forward to the remodel of my garage. I would recommend them for any construction needs.

Rooster came recommended to me by my Architect and coincidentally we found out they were doing a remodel on our friends a few blocks away who also gave Rooster a glowing recommendation. The first work was finishing up our remodel at our lake place which was running long in the tooth and they exceeded our expectations and knocked it out exactly how we wanted it on time and on budget which made it a no brainer picking Rooster for our complete remodel of our primary home in Tacoma which has currently been underway since mid August and communication couldn't be better, we're on budget for what was quoted and they've rolled with the change requests and have been super reasonable and timely with those quotes. The crew doing the work are efficient, respectful, on time and patient with us.
We have more work for them after this project and if you're nervous about spinning the wheel on a contractor then you're in luck and reading the right review.

Rooster constructed my home on time and with superior quality. Given the difficult times and sky rocketing material prices, the project came more or less on budget as well. Kirk was awesome to work with and held his crew to the highest of standards. The end result was complete satisfaction and an excellent experience.

Kirk and his crew at Rooster Remodels are among the most professional, honest, and knowledgeable contractors my wife and I have ever had the pleasure to work with. Kirk undertook a major remodel of a house we purchased, sight unseen, in Gig Harbor during the pandemic. Who knew a wood-framed house in the PNW could have wood rot? (said with sarcasm). Kirk turned our house into a masterpiece of a home, working tirelessly to fix all that was wrong. Not only was the work beautiful, but he completed all of the work on time and on budget. Because of Kirk's work ethic, our near disaster turned into the home of our dreams!

Rooster is my go to. All the companies they work with are great, and everyone who works for Rooster has been trustworthy and hard working, genuinely really great experience. I especially liked working with the foreman and Kirk. They have done a huge amount of projects for us, once someone accidentally ripped our brand new gutters off with their RV and he had new gutters up the next day. Permitting has always been done properly from the start with no drawn out issues. They have done great remodels for us but they have also done a lot of other great work.

Rooster Homes did a complete kitchen rip out and remodel - down to the wall studs. Once we started work, they were on site whenever possible. The craftsmen were all professional in both performance and behavior. Whenever there was a problem, or if something wasn't quite what we envisioned, Kirk made sure it was fixed to our satisfaction. Kirk coordinated with the subcontractors and the retailer for the custom cabinetry. There was frequently a master craftsman working with an apprentice to foster excellent trade skills. There were issues with the custom cabinets (not Rooster's fault), and Rooster interfaced with the retailer to get all the right parts and replacements.
Rooster was justifiably more expensive than some other contractors. Even during multiple delays for replacement cabinets, they restored the functionality of the kitchen for our convenience (even though is was more work for them to remove and re-install cabinets later). Kirk made sure that we were very happy with the end result. We love our new kitchen!

We worked with Rooster Remodels on a project at our home and would rate them very highly for their work. Communication, cleanliness, being on time, staying true to the original bid, and quality of work were top notch. The project was well organized with daily status updates, a regular crew, and no stop and start - just good work from beginning to end. I would definitely hire Kirk and the Rooster Remodels team again.

The prior contractor had abandoned my mom's home construction project, leaving it open to the elements for a year. Kirk and his Rooster Remodels crew stepped in and finished the job. Kirk's team coordinated with subs and inspectors, and got the house completed efficiently.
They were prompt, transparent, and did top notch work. We cannot thank them them enough, and recommend them highly!

Exceptional craftsmanship and stellar communication and project mgmt. They did a major kitchen expansion/remodel, added a spa bath and redid flooring through out the house. They also installed a new deck rail! The quality of work from the crew was top notch. They arrived on time and cleaned up each night. Communication was daily (and bid was accurate!) and I never felt in the dark regarding the project plan. Kirk is great to do business with and we will be using him again..

I reached out to Kirk (the owner) regarding our Storm damage claim. After stating his interest and experience in insurance repair work, he went silent for a month then reappeared to reaffirm his interest. After providing him with substantial information on how this needed to be done, he after another long wait, sent over today the most unprofessional document with no specifications, unit quantity, and extended cost that is typical professionalism in the construction world and required in the insurance world. Not to mention his mysterious lump sum price was 3x and more above all others. True professionals are not afraid of disclosure and can and will happily justify their costs and their value. His deliverables were entirely void of any disclosure, rendering them entirely unusable and quite suspicious. Steer clear of folks like this.

Let me add...

Kirks Aug 18, 8:56 am email message...
"Dear Dan, Please review the estimate below. Feel free to contact us if you have any questions. (in other words, a short narrative and a lump sum cost of 133k. No description, quantity, unit cost and total cost) We look forward to working with you"

My 10:27 response..."Kirk, is this a joke? 133k ($231 per sf) for 576 sf of shell framing and roofing... Not to mention this formats entire lack of quantity and unit detail to support your unit costs, general conditions and P/O after being shown exactly (the) format needed. Entirely laughable and unusable."

Kirk's reply at 10:40am...
"Good morning, Sorry you feel this way. -concrete grinding -removal of soil etc. Quite a bit of added stuff. I asked you to check the wording and mark changes as you saw fit as you clearly want wording perfect for the insurance company. Sorry it didn’t work out. Have a good one,"

My 10:55 response..."Who do you think you are dealing with here. Professionals willfully disclose and justify their units, cost, general conditions, and P/O. U were provide(d) the necessary format and still U’ve done none of that. Highly unprofessional and quite suspicious."... "Provide the details in the needed format to reasonably support your total sum and I’ll gladly retract."

Kirk... Choosing not to do what is industry standard and agreed, then doubling down by trying to lie your way into diluting & discrediting a reasonably accurate "actual experience" review is not a good way to do business.

We hired on Kirk to fix and paint our kitchen and back porch. The final price compared to other local contractors is very affordable and his knowledge was an amazing change of pace. My fiancé and I are could not be happier with the job, and there’s no doubt I’ll be calling Rooster Remodels again when we renovate our guest room soon.

This is mainly for Kirk, Owner of ROOSTER HOMES, AKA ROOSTER REMODELS, GIG HARBOR REMODEL, ROOSTER CONCRETE.
I could not imagine a worse contractor. All the time spent interviewing and bidding our house build was for nothing as we chose Rooster and it was our biggest nightmare. Not sure where to start to warn everyone..
Our house took 3x the timeline, at one point nobody showed up for one month in the middle of construction. Weeks with no work was common. They never cleaned the jobsite once without me asking them first. Used my brand new quartz island for tool storage(pictured). Kirk frequently asked for advances on payments, we had a payment schedule set up before project. On days when I would bring a check are the only days I could get Kirk to the house to check on the quality of work being done. We had 3 police reports filed at our address while Kirk's company took over the jobsite. One was for his employee that was sleeping in our vacant home prior to demolition of the original home. Second was for a theft from our detached garage that only Kirk's employees and myself had access to. Third time was when Kirk hired a felon, and didn't tell me, and I had my family onsite to view our dream home often. A Comcast installer let me know of this felon and I brought it up to Kirk. After learning what charges his employee had against him, I advised it was okay for him to be at my home. Two weeks later that "former" employee showed back up to my house and yanked Kirk's GC off a ladder and held him at gunpoint asking for the money he was owed from Rooster.
I paid extra for Rooster Concrete to pour a retaining wall, the person that Kirk hired to frame my house ended up doing the concrete work(pictured). The wall was to come off our house and run parallel, in line with the deck above. Their wall was 10-15 degrees off of that and when I brought that up to Kirk, on the phone, he advised me that it is in fact straight, even though he had not seen it. Then he came and saw it in person and advised my house is crooked, not his wall. At that point he offered to put a lattice fence in front of the wall to cover it up. When I said that covering up an expensive wall with a cheap fence is not acceptable, he advised it wouldn't be "the cheap lattice fencing." They did eventually cut the old wall out and pour a new straight wall. At which point they placed weep holes at the top of the retaining wall with none down low so water is trapped behind wall. Also the footing of this wall was above the grade of our lower patio and had rebar sticking up through the top. Kirk advised that he had a solution to fix the issue, ultimately it was never fixed.
The day following my home passing plumbing inspection, Kirk had the portable toilet removed from the site to save money and the crew was using my new bathrooms! I brought this up to him and acted like I was crazy and this was normal. Ultimately I allowed it because I thought only weeks were left, that turned into months.
I completed the deck on the home and found the GC sleeping on my chair on the deck in the middle of the work day. The GC advised that he had just returned from a fishing trip the night before.
After almost two years of this nightmare, we were nearing the end and had a week or so left, then Kirk asked for his final payment. I explained that I would not be providing that until all the work is completed, as written in the agreed upon payment schedule. Kirk said he would not perform any more work until I provided payment. So I obviously did not pay him. He then put a lien on my house! Which he never pursued, bc he did not have a case, and it expired.
After everything that Rooster had put my family through, he put a lien on my home when he is the one that walked away from the job without finishing.
All of these issues were discussed with Kirk via email or text, which I still have, as well as all the police reports. I have many more examples and photos but won't make this review any longer.

I'm not going to go into long details as to why you should not hire this company to do work in your home. We hired them for painting and quotes on framing our fireplace. The paint job was absolutely HORRIBLE! We had items missing after Brandon and his crew left. Not to mention we asked for a quote before that, kirk first gave us a quote around ten thousand then when we wanted another quote due to price was to high , he reqouted us over 11,000.00. They didn't clean the walls prior to painting and sand down areas . We had to call them to return multi times. If I could post pictures, I would. Buyer be ware.

Highly recommend Kirk and his team. Rooster Remodels did a superb job with getting my new condo ready to move-in. The new light fixtures and paint job (walls, ceilings, doors) look great.

The work was completed on time, on budget, and Kirk went above and beyond and replaced my kitchen oven (at no cost) when his team accidentally damaged my oven while installing my new light fixtures.

You can trust Rooster Remodels to give full value. Communication was quick, clear, and timely from the initial estimate to the final sign-off. Very much appreciate the text & email updates. Thank you Kirk :)

Kirk is wonderful. His people are just as great. He was recommended to me by my realtor. And even before my relocation, he already came three times at my request to survey the house and make estimates, and gave me sound and honest advice each time, without pressuring me to make any commitment. And that was all in the Spring, their busiest time. He also works well with other people. My designer, as many of them do, has his own contractors to collaborate with, but after meeting with Kirk once, he decided to go with Kirk. He is just that good! He is also good at communication and project management. He is detail oriented, true to his words on budget and time frame. He does not cut corners, nor push for more spending. In fact, he often made sensible suggestions for me to get the best results and save money the same time. Both Kirk and the designer showed tremendous integrity and capability which gave me so much assurance, that I was very comfortable to leave everything to their able hands and went away during the three months renovation, and came back to a totally and beautifully transformed house! Further more, even after all is completed, anytime there is a minor adjustments, he and his people always respond ASAP. People often feel renovation is a stressful ordeal. But my experience with Kirk is extremely pleasant. I feel myself very lucky to have met Kirk and his guys. They not only take care of your house, but also act with utmost respect, honest, care, consideration. In someway, they are not just your contractor but also good friends. Four months have passed since the renovation, I still marvel at their work every day. Thank you!

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
