We had just started our roof replacement research for our 14-year old house when we noted in the local newspaper an advertisement for a eco-friendly and scientifically proven way to extend the life of asphalt shingle roofs. The additional cost to remove and reinstall PV panels — the roofing removal and amount of debris that would go into a landfill — this interesting service caught our eye…! We contacted RoofMaxx, and Warren Leung quickly reached out to setup a convenient time to come by the house. Having read the information on the RoofMaxx website prior to their arrival we had a number of questions. Warren and Cheston Bactista arrived at the designated appointment time. With the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic both were well versed and cognizant — wore face masks and strictly adhered to social distancing. After a roof inspection and based on the age of our roof, we were briefed on the possibility of extending our roof life at 5 year increment applications and potentially up to 15-years. However, the hot Hawaii sun, coupled with high UV and Mauka rains degraded the roofs’ granules on the East side of the house, and exposed down to small sections of fiberglass. Cheston recommended a cleaning “tune up” and application process; however, caveated within 5 to 7 years a highly recommended roof replacement due to the current roof condition. All of our additional questions were answered to our satisfaction. We received a no obligation service cost estimate — there is even a military discount…! The day after cleaning ‘tune up” and application was windy — common in Mauka. What normally takes 22-25 gallons, in actuality 50 gallons was used to coat our roof. No short cuts — Warren and Cheston wanted to ensure we had full and complete roof coverage to include under our PV solar panels. 5 additional years life on our roof is nice and will allow us to financially set aside amounts to prepare for that eventual large replacement cost. A follow-up inspection occurred within five-days of the application to ensure the product was working. We can visibly see the difference in our weathered asphalt shingles. Roughly one-month since the RoofMax cleaning/treatment we received a telephone call from Warren. Cheston had done a recent visual drive-by check and he was not satisfied with the application. Cheston and a co-worker came back to the house to spray down our roof with a slightly stronger cleaning compound. Bottom-line — very impressed with the personable, knowledgeability, professionalism, and work ethics.
