A deeply disappointing experience that veered into surreal territory. I had stayed at this Rodeway Inn in Corvallis just last week with no issue, so I booked again last minute—paid in full and confirmed. When I arrived, the manager repeatedly interrupted me during check-in and created an atmosphere that was tense and confusing. Though it could have been a language or cultural barrier, the effect was dismissive and needlessly confrontational.
Despite my confirmed booking and payment, I was told to wait indefinitely with no alternatives or hospitality offered—just a shrug and a “not my fault.” I had a hot meal in the car, it was a long day, and I simply wanted to rest. I ended up eating in the parking lot in the heat.
Eventually, the manager asked to use my phone to call the booking agency. I verified the number first (which says something about the trust level at that point). Even after the agency confirmed payment was processing, the manager refused to honor the booking, threatened to call the police, and ultimately did.
When the police arrived, they quickly realized the situation wasn’t what had been presented. I provided evidence of payment. The tone shifted. I left peacefully, shaken, and ended up in a minor accident later that evening trying to find another place to stay.
I've never had an experience like this before in all my travels. Whatever the explanation, the result was cold, chaotic, and unjust. I won’t be returning.
I saw the reviews prior and they will scare you for no reason. If you need a place to sleep after a long day of driving this place offers just that. A clean bed, clean room, clean bathroom and hot shower with clean towels and bedsheets. Yeah it has its flaws but you can choose to look at the good side of things and not be a Karen about it.
