This is the most disgusting place Ive ever been to. I wish I read the reviews upon coming here. But this one was the only one available. Upon arriving the lady was nice while checking in. The place didnt look very clean and smelled. We were on the 3rd floor and walking down the hallway the motel in whole didnt look clean. I was like great whats our room look like. We checked cor bed bugs. Thank God there were none. Also upon inspecting the room the walls were dirty, the AC had mold in it. The phone and lamps were dirty as hell. The lamp by our bed didnt work. And the smoke detector was removed from the ceiling. The bathroom door had a hole in it. The walls in the bathroom were dirty and the shower had what looked like pubic hair left in it along with dirt and grime. The shower bottom also had a crack in it. Then we saw a roach. An ADULT size roach. This is nasty. How can a place like this stay open? With a pest problem, dirtniness and mold? This is not okay. And I went and read reviews and a lot said roaches. Some said bedbugs, but we checked and was none. They say they work with pest control cause they are required to. There are still roaches in your motel so clearly you dont work with a pest control company. Because they would've nipped that quick. I know I will never ever be staying here again. DO NOT BOOK HERE AT ALL. Also wish I could post pics cause I took a lot of them for proof.

NASTY!! Don't touch the hand rails while walking up the stairs your hans will stick toilet didn't flush shower was faulty and didn't turn one all the way , TV remote didn't work and the TV had a ton of bad pixels , all I needed was to sleep for a few hours, just an all around bad experience I will not be going back

DO NOT BOOK HERE. I would give zero stars if I could. I needed 9 nights here because I am starting a new job and my housing wasn’t ready yet. When I go to check in they seem surprised by this long of a stay but I ignore it. I stay for a few hours getting ready for bed and right before I go to bed I see a cockroach in the bathroom. I immediately freak out because it is an adult which means there has been an infestation problem for a long time and all rooms are likely affected (I should’ve read reviews). They switch me to the room next door and the moment I open the door there is another cockroach on the wall. At this point I can’t stay any longer and it’s 1am so I am stranded overnight until I can book a new hotel for the week.

So ridiculous and putting me in this situation is insane. They knew exactly what the problem was when I complained because they weren’t even surprised.

Luckily I get my refund through Expedia but this shouldn’t have even happened. They’ve clearly had this problem for a LONG time given the reviews but they probably give too many refunds they can’t afford to fix it

The room was absolutely disgusting the mattress was very soiled and nasty the mattress cover had body fluids on it as well as the curtains the bath tub was broke and disgusting with dirt and had roaches crawling went to front desk asked for a refund and left would not recommend staying there !! The only plus was the lady at front desk was understandable and refunded our money even after telling her I was gonna report to the health department

Clean linens and night clerk was very friendly and accommodating.

Turned in light in bathroom and had to stomp on a wee cockroach. Always worried where it cousins were lurking. I did not open my luggage till sun was up. No hitch hikers!

Towels were clean bed was comfortable.

Then took a shower. Drain hasn’t worked in years. No point in telling day receptionist anything and they knew better then to ask.

I have great pics! But can’t see a place to post?

On the outside of building there’s a canvas sign. It’s torn and hanging. I think it said welcome back America? But torn and hanging I looks like “Come Back Africa!”

I checked in on 02/06 because I was without power at our residence. After checking in, I went to check the room before bringing my belongings and children in. I checked beds to be sure they were free of any pest (bed bugs). I did not see any bed bugs, that was a good sign or at least I thought it was! After settling into the room, showing and upon laying down my dog was after something at the end of bed so I got up to look. It was a cockroach, I then flipped the light on, there were more! One was even crawling up the headboard of our bed! I immediately went and notified the front desk. They advised me the manager would be in today, I called her I was told because I checked the room, there is nothing that she could do about it! I told her I didn’t mind paying for the time I was there, that’s not the issue. I didn’t feel that I should have to pay for a full night because I checked out of there around 12-1 AM. Not because I chose to get my kids up at that time of morning and leave, but because they have an issue with the bugs! This place is just nasty and no common decency to even refund half of what I payed!

By far the worst place I've ever stepped foot in.. I basically live on the road as a truck driver and this was the only place available that allowed me to park my 2 trucks with 40' trailers. roaches in both rooms bed bugs in one boogers on the sheets as if they don't clean them or something. No smoke detectors in rooms I mean that alone is a safety concern place burns down ur screwed... needless to say myself and my other driver showered and slept in our trucks. Now I see why the surrounding hotels were fully booked nasty ass place!

Absolutely one of the most nastiest hotels ever!!!! there were bed bugs and cockroaches(mind you I got bit all over and was accused of bringing them in when I have never had bed bugs in my life!) I got asked to change rooms and as soon as I was asked to move my stuff the Indian lady at the front desk tells me I have to leave after just moving my stuff 2 flights of stairs) whole place smells like straight up mold and mildew as soon as you walk in,my ac vent was broke and when I turned it on it always smelled like mold,the bathtub was dirty and the faucet was leaking leaving sediment sitting at the bottom of the tub all the time,on top of all this I had a lot of clothes that the bed bugs got on and had to wash several bags of clothes and wipe all my stuff down because it was that NASTY after all that I had to deal with the Indian lady decides to call the cops because I spoke my opinion of how nasty and unprofessional it was definitely don’t recommend to ANYONE unless you want bed bugs and have to wash and clean ALL your stuff EXTREMELY DON’T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE! THIS PLACE IS A DISASTER!

Do not stay at this location if I could’ve given a zero I would they are plenty other options in the area to stay at.
I have several bites on my arms and hands that didn’t appear until the day after the stay. I kept feeling an itchy sensation.

Beware if you are looking at this hotel. I travel 30-40 days a year for my work and stay at a variety of hotels. I have stayed at other RRIs and they have been clean and safe. This is not one of them. The room was dirty, there was no bolt on the door, the AC unit's buttons were missing but it did work, there were stains on the walls and shower curtain and roaches crawling on the phone. Don't let the price draw you in. There are many other hotels nearby.

The place has a smell. The roof was leaking in the dimly lit hallway on the way to the room. The 3 walls to the back and sides of the bed has ONE wall outlet about 3 feet up the wall. The room is dingy, not very clean, & small. The bathroom door is STAPLED together, there is some sort of dried glue globs on the toilet seat, a ceiling patch apparently done by a blind 3rd grader, & visible mold around the corners of the shower. I was exhausted after being up for 36 hours & the hotel we usually stay in while
visiting here was full, otherwise I would have left.

The room with the one king bed was a little small, but very comfy. If you make a reservation by calling beforehand, it gets very confusing because whoever is answering the phone isn’t the individual Red Roof Inn, but someone else. This other person seems to not be able to properly set up a reservation, and so told us some things that were not the case and did not set up the reservation correctly. The people at the actual Red Roof Inn were wonderful, cleared up the confusion from the called reservation and made sure we were good to go. Good place to stay at a decent price, especially on a last minute notice.

The front desk workers, Archana and SaGar were the absolute BEST. They helped me so much and were never too busy, or rude or anything. They were so sweet, so helpful and they actually made my trip ok as it was turning out horrible before them. I would give them 10 stars if I could.

Worst hotel, unless you like your room to smell like smoke, have cockroaches, be dirty and have mold in the bathroom. The smell of smoke is horrible throughout the hotel. Was told the room was clean and smoke free, but it was not and once I saw a cockroach I was out. Don’t book here if you don’t have too.

We were here Monday through Thursday morning. We paid for the room. We wanted to extend it until Thursday afternoon when he got off the job. I told the guy behind the desk 118. He said I said 119. I didn't not. He book 119. Paid on the card. A little while later a man comes in and wants to extend his stay in 119. I asked is that he room. He said yes I have been here for a couple day. Why did they book me for that room when someone else was in it? He took our credit card from 118 to pay for the 119. He kept calling me a liar. He gave me room keys to 118. He called the room and told me I had to leave at 11. I told him I paid for that room. He said you said 119. I said no. He said to stop lying. So I had to sit in the lobby from 11-5. When that guy left at 3 and the other guy came in. I asked him why did he do that. Maybe he was confused. No not confused. Didn't know that he was doing. I complained about the sink and toilet clog up .they didn't care. No remote in the TV..Internet keep going off line..the hotel is dirty. The ice machine leaking water don't mop it up, just put a rug over it. Vending. Machine didn't work. No washers and dryers in the building. Puddles of water on the first floor hall ways. The hot water had to run a while before it got hot. The only good 2 things I got out of the trip. The first day we were there the Indian (?) girl was very nice and helpful. The other day is when I left. We won't becoming back. The pictures of the web site don't do justice. Oh. Out of all of this mess with the screw up rooms and throwing me out of the room. I never once here a apologize or a I'm sorry. . Not good customer service

I brought my wife here for her birthday to visit Thomas Jefferson's house Monticello. The staff is friendly the rooms are clean so I thought. My wife has asthma. She started having breathing problems then I found out why. There is MOLD in the air conditioner. Unfortunately we have to stay one more night here cause we don't have the money to move to a different hotel. Very disappointed, There is also a vehicle in the parking lot with a towbar attached to it and full of trash .so i left the property and went to another hotel property to spend the night before heading back to NJ and i informed the person at the property that if my wife goes to the hospital i will be sending the hospital bill to the corporate office and i will be contacting the Virginia board of health and also the Virginia state fire marshalls office , plus the person at the desk was an ignorant person who laughed about the situation and my wife's health condition, very unprofessional on their account the place has NO SMOKING AND VAPING but the place reeks of smoke and vaping and what ever else is going on in the place.

I had a reservation at the Red Roof in Culpeper VA last Friday. We reserved 8 rooms non smoking rooms online and got to the hotel and were told 6 of them were smoking rooms. We spoke to the man working at the reception desk and he told us without a shadow of a doubt we COULD cancel the reservation because we DID NOT check-in. He told me to call the corporate number, who also told me I could have a refund. The next day, the receptionist told us we could not cancel the rooms and could not have a refund. The manager refused to come speak with me, hiding behind the phone of the person at the reception desk.

This is completely unacceptable. If we were given the accurate information, we would have made a different decision. My group went on to buy 6 hotels at a different hotel and would not have done so if we were given the CORRECT INFORMATION by the receptionist. I don't know if this was a mistake or something more malicious, but their refusal to fix this surly points me in one direction.

this place is disgusting!! every room smells like straight cigarettes, even in the hallways. i also found a bedbug in my bed while i was laying down and i got bit many times which is still very itchy many days after!! i went to the front desk and the young boy asked if i had a picture like i was lying about the situation. he barely even cared that there were bedbugs. he acted like he didn’t want to give us another room but he did end up giving us one because my boyfriend was persistent. In the new room the TV didn’t work so now I wasn’t able to watch TV and was scared of bedbugs crawling on me. the new room he gave us was literally just a few doors down and i’m positive it had bedbugs too because of how close they were plus the room was still dirty from the person before. there was food pieces in the bathroom and the trash had things in it still. I’m not even sure when i got bit or if i got bit in both beds all I know is i will never go there again!!

I would like to see this place fixed back into what it use to be. My husband and I came here for our honey moon in 2017 and this place had become my favorite place to get away . From then to now has changed tremendously. The fridge are missing legs so it's wobbly, I'm afraid to sit any food or drinks down because the case of the roaches are terrible I had to take it apon myself to get some spray. The man for house keeping doesn't speak English and does not have respect for people's stuff inside the room. When he came to sweep he swept up containers of my cats food with food in it and I had to replace it. It angered me to the point I had to pray about it. Other than that I still love this place, thanks to the English speaking Brothers at the front desk. They are truly the best examples of Excellent customer service. They treat people like they are humans not animals.

Excellent location to stop off 29 North. We stayed for seven hours of sleep. It is and should only be used as a rest stop.

The front staff is curious and professional. The hotel needs a bit of work. We stayed in room 218 and the toliet ran all night. The tub not properly cleaned, in appearance. The room was on the grungy side but for $69 for two to sleep, it was fine.

For a few hours, it was great.

This place is disgusting. If it hadn’t been 3 am when we arrived after a long trip, I would have cancelled. I am very disappointed in what my kids walked into. There was a homeless man sitting on the stairs which was very uninviting and uncomfortable. There were bugs in the bathroom. The lighting was very poor in the hallways, the bathtub was broken, it smelled like smoke and was a terrible experience. This place should be shut down and anyone who has booked there should cancel. I would love my $99 back but I doubt that will happen. It is a joke. It’s gross. Don’t book your stay at this hotel.

We stopped in for a couple hours of rest before hitting the road to our destination. Honestly this place is nasty. The room we stayed in was infested with bedbugs! Which in return I found out I was allergic to. Ended up in the ER. Reported to the staff and was to get a call back from the manager which never happened!

The five star reviews are definitely fake. I booked a room (non-smoking) and walked into a room smelling like a pack of cigarettes. The young kid working at the front desk didn't care and just told me he couldn't do anything but get me another room. I cancelled and got my refund. The photos they post are no where near what the hotel looks like. It's a hole in the wall. I understand it's cheap but it's like they don't even care. The shower was being held together by some makeshift wood setup. The ceiling in the bathroom wasn't finish and look like it was falling apart. It also had a horrible odor in the hallway. I rate it 0/10. Go somewhere else.

As soon as I enter the location it reeked the smell of curry. as I was checking in the lady left a curry stain on my recipe (she was eating) the lady checking me in was very rude I asked her if she could give me a room in the first floor since I had my leg amputated after she yelled at me and said no I should have reserved earlier I gave up and took the room before I headed up I went the vending machine and there was a homeless man laying there very uncomfortable I just decided to go up (i had such a hard time going up stairs) the third floor smells like weed and cigarettes when I walked into my room I was greeted with a fishy smell I didn’t have the money to switch hotels so I decided it’s just one night anyway I was woke up in the morning by roaches on the floor I wanted to shower but the shower head was missing I got a knock one the door when I opened the door two Indians started to yell at me and say I needed to leave I knew my check out was at 11 but they were rushing me out at 9 before I left I went downstairs to say what I had gone through this time there was a man at the front desk he said he wouldn’t give me a refund he also told me that I was lying and there was no roaches in the rooms I was way to angry and just left . Honestly don’t waste your time and money here find somewhere else worst hotel I ever stayed in.

Stayed here with an advance reservation for four people and was initially given a single king bed room when I booked two doubles on Expedia that apparently wasn't actually available. When we got to the third floor with all our stuff (no elevator), there were dirty towels all over the bathroom floor, the bed was completely unmade, and the room hadn't been touched since the last occupants left (mind you this was at around 9 PM). When they assigned us another room, a double two bed like we originally requested and were told was not available, the shower was lukewarm at best over an approximate two hour period, and never got any hotter. Honestly I can't say enough bad about this particular Red Roof experience.

Look, it's not the best place you're going to stay, but it's a cheap stay and that's all I need. The non-smoking room smelled like cigarettes which stained the scent of my disposable hospital masks, and it was gross. Ultimately, it met the qualification of being a place I could get some sleep during the day before work. Would I go again? Perhaps. The staff was accommodating and respectful.

Booked a non smoking room for one night for my son and myself. Once checked in got room key went to my room 219. Key card would not work , went back to desk , they boy redone the key card said it should work. Went back to the room, again key card would not work, went back to the desk. He handed me the master key said it should work. Went back to room. Still not working. Again to the front desk. Told me to go to room 214, master key worked but no housekeeping had been done 6:30pm. Again back to front desk, gave me room 114. Key card worked. The room was ok. Nothing to brag about. Did notice there was a stick holding the window closed. And you could smell cigarette smoke near the window. Maybe from people smoking just outside the room in the parking lot. To make the shower work you had to pull up hard in order for the shower to stay on. I did not see any bugs as others have reported, but the place could use some much needed maintenance.

If I could give this dive negative stars, it wouldn't be enough. A member of the staff entered the room without notice, without knocking, without announcing themselves, and without apology. When reported to the front desk, some giant, hulking, man of a woman at the front with a mangy dog in the back was rude and unapologetic as if business as usual. ||||There was even milk left in the refrigerator from a previous visit! UNBELIEVABLE!!! If you want to stay here, you'd be better off sleeping outside. Do yourself a favor get a sleeping bag. This excuse for a reputable anything is not worth the disappointment.

My husband and I just left this hotel this morning and I'm completely applauded by how rude and down right nasty the heavy set darked hair woman in the front was to us. I have to explain her physically because I don't recall her name but I'll never forget her attitude. My husband asked for some extra towels two hours before check out and I was already have way down the hallway and didn't here what see said. The cleaning cart was right outside our room so I picked up a couple towels and headeod inside our room to put out the dirty ones outside. This horrible woman calls down to our room moments later saying we have 5 mins to leave the room that we just paid for because of a simple misunderstandings, we inform her that we still have two hours before check out and we weren't ready then she says she's calling the cops. This kind of behavior is completely unnecessary and just rude!! The dirty towels were outside the room and it's your job to treat people with respect and make our experience/stay as pleasant as possible. Everyone else there were extremely nice but this woman should be fired and never get another job dealing with the public. I would definitely stay here again if I never encountered this individual and hopefully we will get our money refunded by the owner .

Would be a great hotel if it was ran by better management. Also needs to have maids that actually clean, clean the rooms properly because they definitely don't. The location is great. It's right next to restaurant and also other hotel options. 7-eleven right around the corner definitely in walking distance. Also Weis, a bank, domino's, dollar store, thrift store, hospital plus more in walking distance, maybe 10 minute walk to get to the store❤️

The front desk clear was a kind, helpful, and sweet high school aged seeming kid. That's where the good stuff stopped. Although I selected a non-smoking room, I was on the third floor of the hotel where the cigarette smoke smell (both fresh and stale) was completely pervasive, even in the room. There were actually people smoking in the hallway! In the room, the paint was peeling everywhere, and some folks staying in an adjacent room found roaches. Also, the refrigerator didn't work and there wasn't any option to repair or replace it. I actually had to leave and go to a neighboring hotel, because I had food to store for an event. Luckily, I was offered a refund. But it was one of the grosses hotels I've been in, and I'm not prissy and have never left a hotel before.

The non-smoking room I stayed in was actually nicer than I anticipated with laminate flooring instead of carpet, which I feel is more hygienic and the smarter choice for a room that's going to be lived in by many different people. Bathroom was clean and stocked. Very comfy king sized bed with clean bedding. AC worked well. Fridge and microwave were both clean and functional. My only complaint was my room had a peculiar smell, bordering on unpleasant. Didn't notice it after being in the room for a while, but was very assertive every time I left and came back into the room.

I would stay again, but I would request a different room than the one I stayed in this time.
