Customer feedback is predominantly positive regarding the company's service and product quality. Many reviews highlight the excellent customer service, with staff being described as knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. Customers appreciate the competitive pricing and the convenience of the location, especially compared to larger retailers. However, there is a significant negative experience related to poor product quality and a lack of accountability from the company, which has affected at least one customer's trust. I have done business before with this company and will no longer do business with them due to them not being willing to accept any responsibility for bad wood. We bought wood from them for our deck and the wood turned out to not be good. In the summer, the wood saps up. Sap has actually messed the wood up and on hot days will stick to our dogs paws. My wife initially contacted them about the wood and having someone come out to look to see if it needed to be replaced. They made her feel as though she was incompetent about the situation. They said it wasn’t cured correctly from the vender they bought from. The boards are now peeling away from the joist. Someone said they would come out and contact the vender they bought the wood from and nothing has ever happen. I do have emails to back up this. They have never tried to correct the issue which has been disappointing because we like to support local businesses.

So glad I found this place. All the guys working there are very helpful and courteous. They have what you need for any job around your house. I have been there to get miscellaneous hardware, and supplies for electrical work and a large drainage project. Their prices for most of the supplies I needed for the drainage project was up to 25% cheaper than Lowes or Home Depot. Plus money saved by not having to drive to Midlothian! Great place!

This is a great local lumber yard, hardware, building supply store. It is north of Powhatan off Academy road. It will have almost anything you need and the employees are there to help.

They had what I needed when the big box stores didn't. A true builders supply place, not a lifestyle center. True, the big box stores have a much larger array but the Goodwyn family owned store in Powhatan, Virginia typically has the building materials I need.

This is my favorite place to go for hardware needs. They don't stock all the things that the big box stores do. But the are friendly, always available, willing, and able to answer questions correctly. They are in a very convenient location too. And their prices are competitive.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
