This past March we contacted Mal to get a quote on new siding, windows fascia, gutters, and soffits, to go with some brick staining that we were also getting done through a separate painter. Mal was in line with other quotes that we had received, but we went with him because he had a more personal touch in his presentation and went out of his way to come to our house and get us samples so we could feel confident in color and kind of siding.

Mal was professional throughout the process, was easy to get a hold of and talk to, and was willing to work with us on scheduling around the other work we had going on at the same time. The workers that performed the work were also friendly and efficient. He also reached out directly to our brick stainer to ensure the schedule would work for everyone and loaned us a sample shingle so that our garage painters could exactly match the color to ensure everything worked together.

Everything looks great, especially the detail work around windows and doors, and it is clear that Mal believes in standing by his work. When they removed the old soffits and saw that we had rotted wood all around half of our house (old soffits never had vents cut into the wood), he did not up-charge for the added lumber to repair. He also had his guys come out to fix the follow-up issues that came up, such as a few pieces that sagged and needed to be nailed back in, and a completely new fascia around our front door when I damaged what they’d already done when installing a new front door.

Overall I am very satisfied with the work that was done and it looks great with the newly stained brick. I would definitely recommend working with Mal to anyone who was looking to update their siding.

I have to say we are extremely satisfied with Mal and Professional Home Improvements. Mal is very honest and uses his experience to help you arrive at the right choice for your home. I tried to choose the wrong siding for our house over and over, and Mal kept me grounded in reality through the entire process. We wanted to update our house and make it modern, but retain the style of the mid century modern original feel. We love the new look. We opted for insulated siding and can feel the difference in the home. It retains heat and cool much better than before the work was done. Countless neighbors walking dogs and such have commented on how great the house looks now, one person commented that we increased our value by $100,000.00. While I don't really think that's the case, it sure looks like it. Thanks Mal, and everyone who worked on our home. We truly appreciate your efforts, and so do our neighbors!

I met with two contractors for estimates on getting the siding done on my house and detached garage. Mal was first, and he was very nice, professional and knowledgeable about all of the products. And he is a no nonsense kind of guy, which I totally appreciate! I met with the 2nd contractor, and I just wasn't impressed. I asked both for written estimates to compare, and Mal's was very detailed (a couple of pages long!) while the other just had a few bullet points. The prices were comparable, but Mal's estimate not only included the siding, but framing around the windows, soffits, fascia, gutters and downspouts. I also had the front window in the living room replaced. When it came down to the actual job, the two man crew that did the work really knew what they were doing! They arrived at my house and started working at the same time every day and they gave 150% each and every day. And when they left at the end of each day, they cleaned up everything that they possibly could. The finished product is better than I could have expected! I have been in my house for almost 13 years and everything was brand new when I moved in. The siding wasn't in bad condition, but it looked like every other house in the neighborhood and I wanted it to stand out! Well, it certainly stands out now and I couldn't be happier! Mal was the third person we met with regarding our project, and he blew the competition out of the water! We kept saying after meeting with previous companies that we wished someone would come in and really explain in detail what they would do and who would help us create a vision for our home. I hired Professional Home Improvement to replace the siding on my house. They did an amazing job! I had talked to three contractors, and the difference with this contractor was immediately noticeable. From the very first meeting, the owner sat down and explained everything involved in the process. He showed me lots of pictures and did a really great job pointing out the high level of quality that I should expect. They did not disappoint!

Mel was wonderful to work with and got the added funds from insurance to cover repairs that other contractors did not include. Many of them were necessary to bring the house to code. This is a top quality company!  I cannot express enough gratitude for the superb work that was done on my home.  This was a seamless transaction from beginning to end.  The attention to detail was flawless.  This company proposed so much more work than other companies and when it came down to deliverance...hit the ball out of the park!  All the extras and small details make such a profound and bold impact.  They transformed my house into one of the best looking homes in Hoffman Estates!   Mal (the president) takes a lot of pride in his company and it just radiates through to every last little detail.  There were no short cuts taken.  Everything was done meticulously and gone over with a fine toothed comb.  He sent over a top notch 2 man crew (Sam and Surgay) that were punctual, friendly, trust worthy, and worked diligently side by side.  To have a crew with that kind of work ethic says a lot about the company they work for.  They were amazing!

This project was paid 100% at our expense.  Insurance was not involved.  Believe me when I say that I did my due diligence when hiring the right company for our family and financial needs. I had 8 contractors total come out to place bids. None of them offered what Professional Home Improvement did.  I believe Mal was the 4th person I had out and he left such a prominent impression on me the first time that I called him back.  He came in right at the very top end of our budget and what we were willing to pay.  He (respectively) may be a bit more expensive than others but is SO worth every single penny spent!  I also want to clarify that he wasnt the most expensive with the total project either.  When I started this venture,  I wanted the cheapest contractor I could get my paws on.  I want to say he came in right in the middle of 7 other contractors with .048 KP siding (as opposed to .044 Mastic like others offered).  I spent a little more....and got A LOT MORE!

He came out every day to the jobsite to check in and make sure we were 100% satisfied with what was done.  He left no stone unturned and made sure that I wasn't even remotely disappointed.  Every single aspect of this job resulted in a super classy and high end finish.  My hose bib has its own mini mount for crying out loud! PHENOMENAL!!!

*16 ft .048 KP siding/no extra charge from the .046/ less seams. (Others: 12 ft .044 Mastic/more seams)
*3/8'  foil faced insulation wrapped in tyvek  (4 out of 8 offered insulation/and .025 at that)
*built out all 9 windows with 2x3 and wrapped in aluminum (4 replaced completely by him and 5 others we didnt need to replace)
*installed 2 french patio doors, front door with sidelight, and a storm door that I bought from Lowes and HD(also built out and wrapped in aluminum)
*wrapped garage frame in aluminum (others told me to paint it...myself!)
*mini mounts everywhere!
*replaced all rotted, nonstructural wood and added wood where needed at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE! ($55 per sheet per every other company)
*bottom edge freize (prevents pests and mice)
*repitched and rebracketed existing gutters (so we could get more time out of them)
*installed new lights at no charge
*everything has a finished edge!  The details!  Its all in the details!
*Not a single company offered all that he proposed and never even came close!

There are too many extras to count.  The price of the original bid that we signed never budged.  His word is HIS WORD.  You dont find these kind of qualities with just ANY contractor (have you ever hired a plumber?)  Mal handled any questions or concerns I had with a sense of urgency and made me feel I was his #1 priority.  OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!  He truly deserves all my praises. Thank you so much Mal!

This company is a joy to do business with. They provided a reasonable quote. Then they offered to eat an upcharge that they hadn't anticipated. The work was done quickly and professionally. It looks great, and they followed up to make sure I was happy. Mal is easy to reach, a good communicator and a pleasure to do business with. I look forward to engaging this company on my next project.

I didn't give five stars for two reasons... One, I was told how great the gutters and new over sized down spouts would be. However, I feel they were installed poorly. The rain puddles around the down spout most of the time, when it didn't before. Two, the new gutters drip and make ice patches where we never had them before. Also, I asked Mal if he could get his crew over to do a repair on the garage, that I would pay for and he never did. I got the feeling that once I paid for the install that was the end of our relationship. One more thing... I also asked if the crew could install a new awning I purchased, because I wanted to make sure it was installed correctly on top of the new siding, and I never hard back.

I have worked with Mal for nearly a decade. He is one of the most honorable contractors out there. You can trust him.
