We needed a complete roof tear off and replacement for our 26-year-old original roof.  We checked online reviews and contacted several companies that had good reviews.  One of the companies with good reviews was Pro Tech Roofing.

We decided to go with Pro Tech because of the online reviews, professionalism of the phone staff, and the presentation from Cesar Ramos, the general manager.  We also researched roofing material and determined Malarkey roofing was a quality product and even better, they were a local company located in the Pacific Northwest.

The job started promptly and was completed in a few days.  It finished badly.

After the final jobsite clean up we noticed that there were hundreds of nails visible that penetrated and splintered the finished underside of the roof overhang.

Like many homes built in the Pacific Northwest, the finished underside of the roof overhang is exposed.  Our original 26-year-old roof shingles were nailed with shorter nails that did not penetrate and splinter the visible underside.  These shorter nails worked just fine for 26 years.  The problem we experienced was that Pro Tech used longer nails that penetrated and splintered the wood.  IT LOOKS AWFUL!

I messaged Cesar Ramos and his first reply was that Pro Tech would take care of it by sending someone to "clip" the protruding nails so that would be flush with the finished surface, and repaint the splintered wood around the nail protrusions. We were skeptical that the nails could be clipped flush and the splintering damage would be adequately repaired. All Pro Tech did was put a thin coat of paint on the protruding nails. No nail clipping or splintering repair was attempted. IT STILL LOOKS AWFUL!

Cesar Ramos also told us that Malarkey "required" the use of nails this length to meet the specification to qualify for the 40 year warranty.

It is really too bad that we were not informed of Malarkey's "long nail requirement" and the unsightly damage it created. We would have chosen a different shingle manufacturer, a different roofing installer, or both.

Spending thousands of dollars and winding up with an unsightly mess that is difficult to eliminate is very upsetting.

Excellent price value for my roof and gutter replacement! I’m very satisfied after choosing Pro-Tech Roofing over their other competitors. I especially commend Jose, their representative, who embodied professionalism, honesty, and responsiveness. Replacement was done in a day and a half as promised. My roof and gutters are looking great and they cleaned up as well. They sure know their job well and are good at it!

I'm so glad I found Jose during our roof emergency. Other companies were focused on just bidding a full roof replacement rather than addressing an immediate but more minor need. Others told me they would get on my roof to bid but not to do any minor fixes. Jose went above and beyond. Unlike anyone else, Jose did it both. He quickly got my roof fixed for the short term and simultaneously bid out the long term fix for a full replacement. He is kind, knowledgeable, and easy to work with. Because he excelled when others faltered I am likely to use him for my bigger projects like roof replacement and siding as well.

Amazing company with great customer service. They did our consultation for free, and gave us a fair quote. When we gave them the green light to work on our roof, the started it right away. Noticed my roof was leaking after heavy rain. I was referred to Pro Tech Roofing by a friend. So called them and representative showed up the next day. He took the time to show me what was wrong with roofing that had been installed 14 years earlier. Went with complete replacement, crew started the next day. After working three hours past dark they cleaned up well and left my house roof water tight. They showed up at 7:00am the next morning and finished just after noon. Cleaned up everything and went over ground with magnetic roller to pick up old nails and staples. I couldn’t be happier!

I hired Pro Tech to do a roof replacement on my home and because it’s a duplex they did my neighbors roof as well. Our roof is now the best in the neighborhood, THEY DID AN AWESOME JOB and it shows. Jose started by giving me an inspection and provided me with pictures of the rotted plywood that needed to be replaced, him and Gabriella answered any and all questions I had. Jose and Gabriella have an amazing crew that busted the job out in 3 days. They went above and beyond when doing the final clean up leaving my property As if they were never there! Good experience. Owner will be working on your roof. Diligent, and mindful of details. Family run, when you call you will probably speak to his Wife who runs the office. Very responsive. We called when my husband didn't think he could finish the roof on time with his work schedule when the weather suddenly showed rain. Owner came out to the house that day, gave a fair estimate, and talked it through awhile. They started the next day (Tuesday) with Fascia's and sheathing, finished Wednesday. Roof meets my husbands high expectations. We are happy we have a new roof and feel good giving our business to them.
