Powell construction recently finished a project for me, and I want to share what a great experience it has been. It has been many years since we last had workers in to do a remodel, although this was a new build, not a remodel, it was a much different experience and exceptionally better one.

I am a crafter and have been using a spare bedroom to house my creative endeavors. I decided I wanted more room to work and have areas so I could work on various projects without needing to put one away to work on another. My husband and I looked at various options and decided to go with a site-built studio. I contacted two local building contractors. Powell construction was the only one to return my call.

Tami Pennington is the designer at Powells. She and I worked together to design a space which would work for me and fill the biggest possible footprint for the space available. She was knowledgeable about form and design. I also wanted cabinets and counterspace which she was able to produce.

Everyone I dealt with at Powell were friendly and professional. It was important that I was happy, and it was obvious it was important to them that the construction was the best it could be, even small things they would redo if they were not perfect.

My project was assigned a lead carpenter, Matt Burns, he was on site everyday making sure things were done and ensuring the sub-contractors were showing up and preforming well. My husband and I grew quite fond of him and will miss his presence.

I received computer generated plans, a detailed estimate of the project, a payment schedule, and a remarkably complete schedule of work. The job was complete two weeks early!

Powell Construction did a major bathroom remodel for us, giving us a beautiful, functional new bathroom. It was a substantial change as a wall was moved three feet to enlarge the room and the appliances were all rearranged. Alex, the lead carpenter, Collin, his assistant, and Tami the designer were great to work with. They were always cheerful, hardworking, and knowledgeable. And patient. When I changed my mind about how I wanted a door to open, Collin said “no problem” and quickly made the change. Joe, the tile layer did beautiful work as did all the subcontractors. I enthusiastically recommend Powell Construction.

I hired Powell to design and build out a total remodel of my main home.

My Designer, Tami listened and took to heart my ideas and wants. Tami had my esthetic dialed in almost instantly. From initial plans to finalized design, Tami was amazing!

Powell assigned a lead carpenter to my job, Mat. I only have rave reviews and big thanks for Mat. He is a truly talented artisan and manager.

Between Mat and Tami, they kept my job on track and at peak performance. The sub contractors were all superb. All amazing craftsmen.

Powell Construction just finished remodeling two areas of my home. I could not have been more pleased with their work! This is a superb company. They are thorough in their design and estimating processes and very professional in their documentation, communication and coordination functions. Every member of the staff was exceptionally pleasant, skillful and efficient. This included Trent, the project manager and lead carpenter; Tami, the designer; Tom & Heidi, the owners; Shannon in the office, and other staff and every subcontractor. It was a delight to work with Tami who listened to and incorporated my design preferences with her own exceptional ideas and resources. Trent went well above what I expected, including clearing my driveway during an ice storm so subcontractors could get to my job! Staff kept me well informed throughout the entire process. They protected my floors, carpets and banister while they worked. They finished on time and on budget!!! The finished work is stunning. This is my third time using Powell Construction and they are who I will call for any future projects as well. TEN STARS!!!

Powell Construction did such an amazing remodel for us. What made the decision for us to choose Powell was the initial meeting with Tom (the owner) and Lindsay (their designer). They had great in-depth questions that gave us the feeling that they were going to be part of this process with us and not just passing us off. We had an idea of what we wanted and thought it would not be achievable, but Lindsay took our possibilities and showed us she could make them into reality.
From the start of the process, we received our detailed quote and timeline, this made it easy to follow the various stages of planning and work. Our Lead Contractor Joe was amazing. He set up weekly meetings with us to discuss progress and any challenges or issues we may have. We were blessed that during the demolition there were no issues which would have slowed the remodel timeline or additional costs. It was almost scary how smooth it went, that says a lot for their professionalism and great planning.
Our remodel took a little over 7 months, it did not seem that long though. And today we are in our remodeled and very beautiful home. Everything turned out so much better than we expected. We cannot thank all the folks at Powell Construction enough that made this process so easy. We feel like they became part of our family vs our contractor.

After online searching of construction companies, we chose Powells to renovate our kitchen and a bathroom in our 1960 ranch, which we bought about 10 years ago. It was a total renovation with new pipes, electrical, floors, cabinets, windows, appliances, lighting. We were nervous of course, but after meeting Tom Powell and the crew, who work at Powells, we knew it was the right choice. Their use of a comprehensive timeline for the whole project and the use of dynamic ideas and design drawings coupled with daily communications was what made this experience truly wonderful: A dream come true.There was no stress, no missed communications, and the whole project as it unfolded was actually joyful. We were so happy working with each member of the Powell team and by this I mean working with our lead carpenter - Alex M., whom we consider a truly gifted artistan, with a vision for the details in the structure and beauty of woodworking: he is a kind and introspective person who knows his craft; and in the world of construction renovation, he is a gem. We had direct communication with him every day by text, which worked for us as immediate responses were important to us. In addition, we got to work with a Powell's design person, Lindsay, who provided wonderful ideas to address the aspects of tile, paint, lighting, fixtures, and who provided us with updated design drawings, color and tile samples, and who grasped what we had envisioned for our home renovation and was able to set it out in full graphics and extremely creatively for us to see in order to move ahead with all the choices that come with such a project. Trent is a another person who worked with us, who walked and talked us through all the process and we knew where things were at all times. This process included weekly meetings onsight to address any concerns, which were few, and then to move forward. The additional contractors used were very friendly and the work sight was always clean and orderly at the end of the day, which was a sign that Powells and everyone who works there are conscientious and very professional. With any large renovation, there would seem to be days of feeling distraught and overwhelmed: We experienced none of this. And in thinking about our next plans, which will include a patio and porch, we would want to work only with Powells.

Powell's completely renovated a former out-of-date, run-down, and damaged rental property and turned it into a warm and cozy home away from home for us. Everyone on staff was professional and pleasant to work with. Our lead carpenter, Alex M., was organized, thorough, and meticulous and he communicated with us and all the subcontractors regularly. His coordination of the subs and inspections was excellent and our project was completed on time. Alex also did all the new interior trim work which is beautiful; he went above and beyond in the quality of his work. We are truly happy with our new kitchen and bathrooms, and the new floors and doors. We highly recommend Powell Construction.

Working with Powell Construction was an excellent experience. We added a two story addition on to our home and every step of the process, from design to completion, was well coordinated and very professional. The designers are great to work with and were able to turn our rough idea into an amazing new space. The construction crew was very professional and courteous, even our dogs liked them. They were open to our concerns and available to answer questions as they arose. The attention to detail was fantastic, allowing for our addition to be built with very little intrusion into our daily lives. The entire project was completed exactly to the original projected timeline. I would highly recommend Powell Construction and would be excited to work with them again.

We completed an extensive, 1250 square foot addition to our home and enjoyed working with Powell from the very first design meeting at our home. They were open and honest in communication, making us feel heard while offering advice and perspective as we worked through the final design details. We are absolutely thrilled with our new kitchen, laundry room, and bathroom. The work done was fantastic! Designer Jayde was amazingly patient, kind, knowledgeable - very easy to work with on all the difficult decisions. Construction Lead Joe was fantastic! What a genuine caring person - attention to detail and took great care of our project. Subs for plumbing, electric & drywall were awesome. Great quality! We chose Powell based on their reputation and they exceeded all expectations.

When my brother recommended Powell Construction to my husband and me when we were researching a bathroom remodel we had NO IDEA that it would be far from a common, run of the mill experience. From the time that we had a conversation about the project with Tom Powell and Dean Flaming we experienced respect, kindness, professionalism, collaboration, and excellence. We began to wonder if we would be able to afford such superior quality. Deborah Flaming, the designer, listened carefully to our ideas and worked tirelessly to be sure we were fully "on the same page". She worked hard to keep it within our budget. Joe Shuttlesworth, our lead carpenter, was talented, organized and a true craftsman always leaving a neat work space at the end of the day. The finished project far exceeded our expectations! Powell's took care of many small, but important details, making sure we understood each step of the project. We had the project's time schedule posted on our refrigerator. It was followed with precision. Without question, we would want Powell Construction's expertise for our projects in the future.

Powell's was excellent. Timely, thorough and detailed. They were great communicators and extremely organized. Everything was laid out with transparency and consistency. From beginning to end they were professional and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend them. My project turned out fantastic.

I am a property manager in Corvallis, OR and had just taken over a new rental property that was in great need of renovation for it’s large main bathroom. It is a fraternity style living situation so the bathroom layout was designed for large numbers of people to use but was a few decades old and didn’t afford much privacy. I contacted Powell; I had not worked with them before but when they came in for their initial walkthrough they were extremely knowledgeable and professional and quite obviously experienced. They were able to see the difficulties that were probably going to arise and devise possible solutions even in just their initial walkthrough.
We signed on with them in November 2018 and they began immediately on the design process and scheduling the construction to begin June 2019 and ending September. Powell’s designers Jayde and Christine created a number of designs for us to pick from and walked us through the smaller design choices. The six month preparation process before construction began was handled thoughtfully and professionally and the design result met everything I was wanting for the project.
When construction started Mat, our lead carpenter, handled everything from the demolition, to working with the plumbers, painters and tile guys and electrician. I never had a sense that he didn’t have a handle on what was going on or what needed to happen. He was very positive and communicative through the whole 12 week renovation. We had a plumbing problem crop up at the end of the renovation after they had finished (not unexpected on a project this large) but I called up Powell and they came and fixed the issue without hesitation or complaint at no cost to us.
I highly recommend Powell. When you have a project that needs experience, skill, and good deal of orchestration I would say Powell meets these needs and takes responsibility for their work. I will be contacting Powell again when I have another major renovation.

We had an excellent experience with Powell Construction for our kitchen and living room remodel. Powell did a good job with the design, and the lead carpenter, Joe S., did a fantastic job with managing and implementing every other part of the project. Outstanding service. Their designer was amazing. My husband and I were very happy with how they cleaned up everyday and were informed of everything they did daily, making us a schedule. They had great customer service, and were great to work with. All their employees we worked with were willing to go that extra mile. Powell Construction exceeded our expectations all the way, from beginning to end. We came to Powell for a full bathroom, sunroom, and office nook. The designer did an amazing job taking our ideas and needs and translated into beautiful spaces we all love and enjoy. The lead carpenter managed the whole project with excellent planning, great communication skills, and with professionalism. There was a strong wind/rain storm one night when we had a temporary roof, and the lead carpenter came to our house at 9pm to make sure the temporary roof was holding (in pouring rain!!). We are repeat customers of Powell Construction. Our first experience was a well-orchestrated installation of six skylights, so Powell Construction was our first choice for a major kitchen remodel plus installation of wood floors throughout our home. From start to finish excellent customer service never wavered. Our designer listened to our thoughts and ideas and incorporated them beautifully into the project. All the sub-contractors were top notch. Skilled in their areas, neat, and courteous. We absolutely love our new kitchen and wood floors and would not hesitate to use Powell Construction again in the future.

Our experience with Powell Construction was superb from beginning to end. We came to Powell with a kitchen remodel project. We appreciated the way to their designer guided us through the hundreds of detail choices to be made. She did this in a way that helped us make the choices that were right for us without ever imposing her own style on us. Once the decisions were made and the project was completely defined, the result was a fixed-price contract (with allowances, where necessary). Another result was a schedule with a firm start date and a firm end date. The construction commenced on the schedule date, and the project was completed on the scheduled date. Who knew that contractors could even do that? The lead carpenter on our project was wonderful to work with. The communication was exceptional throughout, with both scheduled weekly meetings and passing conversations when things came up. He went out of his way to leave the work area clean at the end of each day, and even more so on Fridays. As is inevitable with this sort of project, there were a few glitches along the way. But Powell was able to get things worked out and still complete the project on schedule. The quality of the final product was excellent. We love our new kitchen!

We love our new family room and 2nd story deck. The lead carpenter and his assistant were wonderful (competent, hardworking, friendly, considerate). The design staff were imaginative and displayed great patience with us. And despite a few hiccups (which I’m sure happen with every remodel) the project stayed on schedule. Powell’s did a great job in every way.

Powell really knows how to pull all the experts together to produce an excellent result. We have used their services on four separate occasions to update and make our house just right. Every time we were completely satisfied. I highly recommend them!

At these meetings we discussed: the work done so far; the anticipated progress for the coming week; and any questions or concerns we might have. Powell's entire team is a pleasure to work with from the first consultation to the closing/wrap-up/walk-through meeting. They take the time to explain their work, to answer questions, to listen to ideas; they keep the client informed throughout the entire process, from start to finish.

Powell Construction's ability to project a timeline, and then keep to that timeline is remarkable. Even when an unexpected situation arose on one of our projects when a groundwater/clay soil situation necessitated calling in city engineers for approval of a change, Powell's team handled the process with the utmost professionalism which ensured that the delay was minimal, and minimally disruptive.

Additionally, for each of the projects that Powell Construction has done for us, their initial cost estimate for the completed job has been right on target or less than originally estimated. Such exactitude regarding project costs has been profoundly helpful to us, and greatly appreciated.

When it comes time to do work on our house, Dan and I no longer contact other contractors for bids, we simply call Powell Construction. We highly recommend Powell Construction for all home remodeling, repair, or restoration projects; we have the utmost confidence in the quality of their work, their precision, and their professionalism.

We had an extensive remodel of kitchen, baths, and laundry room this summer, and our experience was wonderful. The design process was thorough and collaborative. The construction was done according to schedule. The quality of the work was very good. Communication with the contractor was great- we met weekly and he was accessible any time we had questions. The costs were in line with the estimate that was provided before starting the project. Highly recommend!

This is our second addition and transaction with Powells. We were so happy with the first addition 10 years ago that when we decided to add another addition, we contacted them again. From the initial meeting through the design and project completion, it was near flawless and I hated to see it come to an end. The project manager, the designer, and all the subs were extremely enjoyable to work with. But, most importantly, the finished project is absolutely beautiful and far exceeds our original expectations. With the designer’s assistance and guidance, we developed the perfect master bedroom, master bathroom, powder room, and walk-in closet.

Everyone was extremely courteous and always looking out for our best interests. The entire project was on schedule and ran smoothly without any issues. My husband was a builder and he was impressed with their knowledge, attitudes, ability to stay on or below budget, attention to detail, etc.

In summary, if anyone in the local area is looking for a competent, reliable, dependable builder, I would highly recommend they contact Powell's. I can honestly say that it will be the best decision and you will not be disappointed.

Fantastic job tending to our every need. They did a huge remodel of our 1965 ranch house, and it turned out just the way we wanted. Great job with the design and coming up with creative construction solutions along the way. Recommend highly.

We had Powell Construction remodel our kitchen and make our kitchen/dining room/living room into a great room. They were great to work with. They listened to what we wanted and provided several different options. They did a great job of communicating and were right on schedule. All of their subs were great to work with and did outstanding work. To save a little money we did a few things ourselves.
