Pekul Buildings

We recently had a pole barn built by Pekul. While putting together the project we were asked if we wanted to UPGRADE the windows. Silly me for not asking why I would need an upgrade. The windows that they use are plastic. Geeze. If I owned a business I would be embarrassed to use poor quality windows while all the time bragging about the quality of the lumber and steel. Anytime I asked about the construction all I got was "I have been doing this for 40 years". And if you want that we can do it for more $$$. Stuff you would think was standard. At least when I helped my neighbor build his barn. Like using the foam strips at the ridge/wall section. Oh, and to top it all off you get to remove ALL of the trash that they leave behind on the job site. Yes. Bags of garbage, cut pieces of metal and lumber.

The building is great and it went smoothly once they got started. They were several weeks later than promised however and did not return phone calls. I am still waiting for a quote on another project I asked them to quote. My biggest gripe though is that they left a huge mess behind. When we asked about it they said there would be an extra charge for cleaning up after themselves. I feel this should have been stated in the contract. I don't know of any other contractors who don't pick up their mess (including McDonald's bags and drink cups) when they are finished with a job. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Be sure to have the contract state if they are or are not going to clean up afterward.

I was in the market for a pole barn and a neighbor suggested Pekul as they had just built one for him. Even though I was on the far edge of their territory they were happy to take me on as a new client. I had some particular building specifications and Pekul was very accommodating and helpful. In searching for some other estimates, I had a hard time getting one of the bigger name builders to even return a phone call. When they finally did, their estimates were several thousand dollars higher for the same building. Additionally, when I inquired about some special features that I needed, the local big name builder was very resistant.
The building process went swiftly and the construction site was cleaned up when completed. I had one very small issue with a nail hole in the roof and Mr. Pekul himself promptly drove out and took care of it.
Six years later my pole barn is still perfect!

I had Pekul buildings build a pole barn about 15 years ago. A few years later, I had them add to it. I was very satisfied those times. In the fall of 2013, I needed a taller door installed and contacted them for the installation. I also requested a price for an electric opener for the door. I signed a contract for the door installation and scheduled the installation and again asked for a price on the opener. The men came and installed the new door and it is April 2014 and I am still picking nails and screws up and taking them out of tires. I asked to have the spring adjusted on the door as it was very difficult to close and again requested a price for an automatic opener. Someone came to adjust the door but it was no better. I called again and asked to have it fixed and for a price on an opener. No one came to fix and I have since had an opener installed on the adjusted door by someone else.
