The best thing about this company is the people. They are unreasonably expensive, and they have clauses to hold on to your down payment- for us it was to the beat of approximately 16K, and the plans/ renditions are not free it was maybe around 2k.

They will not provide itemized prices, and the plans are not solid. I ended up getting an architect who was working part time for the Home Depot and she told me that the plans were completely unrealistic/ unusable after vetting- get this, her plans were for free. In addition, I got an itemized purchase list and she took care of. ‘All the things’ I would have to pay for with palmetto LOL … I went with the Improvement Company for installation. They were professional and did not nickel and dime me- shout out to Andy and Laz!

The price for all the items (exactly as I wanted not compromising on quality) and a brand new kitchen design, living room, stairs and fireplace was literally a third of what palmetto quoted for kitchen and stairs only…. We used some of the extra money to Reno our living room walls, floors, a full fireplace update and still had money left back in our savings to spare!! Already planning new renovations haha..

If you go with Home Depot for design and a contractor company like the Improvement Company - you may save more…they may provide a ‘comprehensive’ approach…. But you will certainly pay for that approach and without itemization. :)…

We had money left over from this project- which was wild. Shop around and do your research before making a commitment to this company.

We had our master bathroom redone. Let me first say, the work by the installers was fantastic. And ultimatley in the end that is what you want, which is the only reason I am giving 2 stars. If not for the great work by the installers, this would be a 0 star review. I do not recommend anyone using Palmetto Renovations for any large projects. The front office of this organization and the administration of the project was not good at all. They will tell you what you want to hear about how they will meet your budget, but in the end they have no intentions on doing so unless you do most of the legwork. They will not provide you any estimates other than installation costs until the work is being done. They will not tell you the things that are not included in the installation cost and then charge outrageously high prices after work is under way. Just as an example, they wanted to charge me $3900 to put down additional subflooring in a 120 sq ft bathroom. If I didnt want them to do it, then they required I obtain a separate permit to have the work done. There was no compromise by them on the price and it felt as if they thought they could get another payday because they had already completely demolished the bathroom. If we did not use them to put the flooring down, we would have to do it on our own. I was not paying that price for such a simple job so I had to arrange for the permit and got the work done for less than $300 in half a day!

Later, they sent us to their contractor to select the countertop we wanted. I was told by that contractor he could get us really good pricing on a remnant piece of marble. We then find out the cost of installing countertops was not included in the installation contract (??). After Palmetto Renovations added their cost, the remnant countertop installed price was 3x higher than what I was able to get contracted and installed. Just know, if you use them, expect to do all of the legwork in purchasing and organizing your own subcontractors. I thought when hiring a general contractor, that was what I was getting, but only if you want to pay completely unreasonable prices.

Lastly, Palmetto Renovations never checked up on us to see if we were happy with how the project was going. The only time they called was when they wanted to get paid. And they obviously were having the installers do work out of order just to be able to collect a check. For example, the installers were instructed to install the cabinets before the subfloor (previously mentioned) was laid and walls were painted just so they could get a check for that work. They later had to uninstall them to do the other prework.

If you are looking for a general contractor to handle your project end to end, this is not the contractor for you unless you just have buckets of money you are looking to get rid of. This was a very frustrating and time consuming experience. We will not be using them for any of our future projects.

About seven months ago my mom and sister decided to add an addition to the house as my sister planned to move in after she retired from her Jon in Virginia. My mom found this company because they were working on a house in our neighborhood.. A month later my mom had a stroke, she is doing fine now. This company had no problem pushing back the start time which was an blessing in disguise..First the bathroom was demolished and Marcus and Ellis were sent in to do the plumbing and electrical work. From the moment they walked in I loved their energy and my mom did too. They not only have been top notch professional, Johnny on the spot as well but most importantly they are trustworthy..They haven't just worked on moms house they have become friends and I am so glad those two men are working in my moms house. Going back to work today as a teacher I am relaxed because they will be there all day..They are so famn good I feed them both steaks yesterday because there was a problem Satueday and Marcus who was in call came back and didn't leave till 1036..when the problem was solved..USE THIS COMPANY but most importantly make sure Marcus and Ellis are the guys in the house!

Great at communication! Got back to me quickly, met with us and explained the whole process. They are very thorough and seem to be a high quality company. But, you will have to pay a lot for quality!

From taking my initial ideas (Maegan) and adding welcome input and thoughtful consideration during the design and fulfillment phases (Justin, Tyara, Alex, Kim and Lisa) to the industrious and conscientious work (Ellis and Demetrius) to the final impeccable results I am thrilled with the process, from start to finish. It was never difficult in connecting with some anytime I had a question, or not understanding the process. From the onset of our remodel for our kitchen, the service from the project sales crew has been A+ informative, detaied and exceptional in design. We received renderings that flawlessly align with all we'd set forth to accomplish and the price never changed from its pre contract amount. All materials showed up in a timely manner as promised and the workmanship was true craftsmanship. The new island has proved to be the most appreciated. We love our new kitchen and enjoyed the various steps to reach our remodeling goais.

I worked with Maegan and she was very informative and so great to work with! They provide top tier services and I look forward to working with them on my renovation project!

We had PR renovate our master bath and two other very small items. In my opinion, the project took over 13 weeks to complete primarily because the projects had to keep being REDONE. Sales crew won’t give itemized pricing or commit to ANY timeline.

I think the facts of this project speak for themselves:
-From design to final inspection: 10 MONTHS
-PR stored materials in our garage: 5 MONTHS
-Cost of PR-added change orders during the project: $8000
-Shower tile was reinstalled 4 TIMES because they kept doing it wrong
Two incorrect electrical boxes were installed for 20 days, which could have potentially caused a fire.
Palmetto Renovations only fixed them after we contacted a licensed electrician to confirm they were unsafely installed.
Our railing spindles were not centered when installed, as you can see from the photo.

Matt, licensed contractor on our permit, only came to the site one time to check over the project. Despite this check, the vents and outlets failed final inspection the very next day.

We lost so much confidence in this team's ability to complete the job correctly, we ended up hiring other contractors to finish the items that failed inspection.

Please learn from our mistakes. Do not hire a contractor based on social media reviews. This was an expensive and frustrating lesson for us to learn.

This company has performed work on my neighbors home. The whole team was professional, on time and they performed excellent work. They were constantly communicating with her during each phase of her remodel thereby alleviating "surprise" additional costs. No revisions were made without her approval, which is the way it should always be, but as I and she has found not to be with other contractors. She was extremely, extremely satisfied with all work performed as well as with the team performing the work.

Gus & his field members do awesome work, I’ve seen the things they do & I would highly recommend them! GIVE THEM ALL RAISES.

Our experience with Palmetto Renovations has been excellent. They are thorough, quick with communication, and responsive. They listened to what we wanted, and took time to adjust or explain important considerations that we may not have thought of. We were impressed by their understanding of our priorities, and the scope of the work we were looking for.

If I could give them ZERO stars I would. I needed to cancel two appointments, both on which were emergencies. One I have to be quarantine, and the next one I had an emergency with my son. It was out of my power and control. When I tried to reschedule, they told me that because I cancelled two appointments, I must pay a $500 fee for a third appointment. I am a US Army veteran with four deployments to a war zone, I have never in my life imagined that I have to pay for situations that are out of our control. I cancelled my appointments, and I will now recommend this company at all. If you care about your customers, please show it, and do not just say it. I understand business is business, but this is out of control.

Then, I received an email explaining why they are trying to charge me a fee for a third appointment and that they will add that to the overall price of the renovation. That is uncalled for, and just greedy. I will definitely take my business somewhere else. I hope this review open the eyes of other people. I usually do not leave any reviews, but this is just absurd.

My experience with Palmetto was outstanding! They're pricey, but the their work is WELL worth the cost. Everyone there is super nice and professional, they're great about keeping you up-to-date with the goings on for your projects, and AH! The satisfaction never ends when it's done. 10/10

Great local contractor in Columbia SC. We were so happy to be able watch our project progress from start-to-finish with pictures and updates. Our designer had great ideas for us, too!

We hired Palmetto Renovations to do a room addition to our house in Forest Acres. Soon after the work was completed we realized that there was water leaking in after a rainstorm. It took alot of calls and emails and time, but they sent a couple of people to diagnose and repair the leak. Nobody actually tried running water on the roof to find out what was wrong and after almost a year, the leak is still as bad as ever.

I understand that things like this can happen, especially in an older home. However, no one at Palmetto Renovations seems to be taking this seriously. I will have to hire someone myself to fix this problem.

I am not happy with this situation and the overall quality of the work. I cannot recommend Palmetto Renovations for any work. They are a one stop shop. From designing to providing all the supply. It was an advantage cause you don't need to contact all contractors, they do everything.

I needed someone who could do a variety of tasks at my house to get it ready for sale. I've had good luck with people/services I've found through google search. Palmetto Renovations of Columbia came to my house gave me a fair price and timeline of getting the renovation of our kitchen done and stayed within our budget.

Excellent communication throughout the project and VERY clean and respectful of my home. I’d highly recommend anyone that’s looking to remodel a kitchen or bathroom check out their showroom in 5 points. I met with about a dozen contractors, they were not the highest or the lowest, but the quality is by far exceptional.

We have been using Palmetto Renovations for over the last five years, for all of our outdoor kitchen and indoor kitchen remodeling. I couldn’t be more pleased to work with such reputable company. Always on time, and most importantly they pay attention to details. I recommend them to anybody looking for a new kitchen.

After having our kitchen redone by Palmetto Renovations, we were so impressed by the professionalism, promptness, and courtesy by the entire team, we chose to keep them for the rest of our house. The sales person in particular was wonderful to work with. It was a no pressure sale and she listened to what we wanted, needed, and had a few suggestions which was helpful. In the end everything was detailed in the contract/estimate, and we chose to stay with them for our other projects. We have recommended them to many people, and proudly display their company sign in our front yard. Their work and professionalism is far beyond anything we could have expected.

The sales team is amazing! They're extremely knowledgeable and friendly. They have my husband and I feel like part of the family. They keep us updated weekly. We came from a contractor that we did not trust, but we trust them implicitly.

Mathew, and his solid crew came to my house and didn't treat it like "project" . Every time one of his guys would come in they would act like they were entering their own house, really nice, honest, trustworthy and curtious , which I find to be a dying trend nowadays.
They did paint, touch up on cabinets, new accessories and granite counter tops with a tile shower, ( I'm sure I'm leaving out a couple more things that got done in my master) it looks beautiful.

We contracted the crew to renovate our office. The initial project was fairly big and had to be completed in just 6 days with a lot of pressure.They worked night and day and got us back up and running on time. There were a few issues with the initial workmanship from the subs, but Matthew and Henry continued to work with us and brought in new subs to finish the project to our satisfaction. They even worked around our schedule in the evenings and weekends so that it did not impact our office schedule. Most contractors can perform the basic work required, but when they are willing to spend extra time and effort to get it right to your satisfaction, even at their own expense, that truly sets a contactor apart. I hope they never loose that willingness and go the extra mile to complete a job. Makes all the difference.

We hired Palmetto Renovations for a new covered porch, roof and a small deck on the back of our home. The owner, Matthew, was the most responsive, understanding, and excellent customer service we have seen. The work was done way above average and in excellent time. The workers cleaned up after themselves and was very polite. We are in heaven with the new covered porch and the deck in the back. The roof looks excellent! There was a minor breakage of a pipe, but Matthew to the rescue, fixed it with no additional cost to us. We have every intention of using Palmetto Renovations for other projects in the near future and we recommend for anyone to use them.

We have used Palmetto Renovations several times for projects in our home and barn and have been very pleased with their work. The renovations included installing hardwood flooring, interior and exterior painting, roofing on the house and barn and lighting and fan work. The quality of the work was great and they showed up every day until it was completed. The management and the contractors were very courteous and respectful of our home. The estimates were thorough and clear and there were no "surprises" when the final bill was paid. We will use them again for future projects and recommend them to others.
