Very thankful for the work Off Limits Contracting did at our home. We needed some tuckpointing work on our walkway - and Robert and Jerry assessed the damage and provided a very fair estimate for the work. This is a post - work photo, so it doesn’t capture just how bad the walkway was before, but needless to say, we are very happy with the result. I would recommend them and their work!

We hired Off Limits to install an exterior dryer exhaust. They were beyond professional. Came on time, completed the work beyond expectations to perfection, and built a custom box to house the exposed vent.

Hired off limits for basement masonry/repointing of a basement wall that had likely never been professionally repointed since being built over a hundred years ago. They did a great job. I would recommend them and hope to secure their services for another job. My only complaint was they are sometimes hard to reach specifically when attempting to hire their services; though they are very available once you have a contract. I assume that’s because they are in high demand, but it makes hiring them difficult.

The team was very helpful with solutions and ideas — generous in both time spent solving and completing the project well. They take a lot of pride in their work and I would highly recommend them.

We needed some maintenance work done at the property, a 28 unit condo complex in Brookland. Specifically, we needed concrete steps repaired or replaced, the iron railings that were along the steps mended, and a few areas of sidewalk patched or replaced. I had noticed that Off Limits was working at a condo complex down the street from us and their work looked great, so I gave them a call. I'm glad I did - their price was very reasonable. Right before they came out to provide a quote, someone tore down our old trash fence around our dumpsters. I asked them if they would be interested in rebuilding the fence as well and they were - and offered a lengthy warranty on both pieces of work. Their price was half of some of the contractors our management company got for the fence. It took a few weeks to get on their schedule, but once they started work they were fast and efficient and kept me updated with more frequent status reports than I've ever gotten for any contractor. The quality of work was superb and both the concrete work and the fence looks phenomenal. They even brought in a welder to re-weld parts of metal railing and added solar lights to the top of the trash area posts at no extra charge. When they were complete they restored everything to excellent condition and did a walkthrough with me. Overall 10/10 for value and quality of work, I would absolutely hire them again and recommend them if you need concrete, masonry, a fence built, or similar work. We'll certainly hire them again in the future if we do.

I can't say enough good things about working with Jerry and his team at Off Limits Contractors to repair our retaining wall and chimney! Not only was his estimate competitive compared to the 3 others I received, but Jerry's level of communication and professionalism was exceptional (the main reason I wanted to work with him). Jake was my point of contact for all things contracting, scheduling and invoicing. He was kind, considerate and responsive to all of my questions, and really helped keep the project moving forward. Rob was a fantastic foreman who walked me through the different phases of the project and what to expect when. Him and his crew demonstrated excellent workmanship, kept the site clean and completed their work on schedule. The team went above and beyond my expectations, and I'm really pleased with how the retaining wall and chimney turned out. Jerry and Rob (and team were great). After an estimate they came back to start the job and gave me a walkthrough of everything. Then they wanted to walk through with their team so they would be prepared the next day when it was time to start. They were always in communication with what they were doing and available for any questions. The work was done in a timely manner, on budget, and I am extremely happy with the work. They always offered their professional opinions on what should be done vs. what could wait until down the road and never pushed to sell me on any work. They cleaned up very well after the project was finished and had a final walkthrough to ensure I was happy. Would use them on any future projects without question. I never felt like they were too busy with other jobs to take care of mine (which is something I have experienced with other contractor type work)

Jerry was able to identify the source of a ceiling leak through our exterior brickwork (after another contracting company was unable to and completed an unnecessary “repair”.)

Jerry and team were able to seal up the necessary area and we’ve been water free for three months at this point! I appreciated their professionalism and speed that they were able to address our issue!

I had a great experience with Off Limits repointing and replacing some brick on the wall of my 100 year old house. They were excellent in communication, workmanship and clean up.

If I could give more stars I would! We got tuckpointing done on our house, they were able to give an accurate estimate quickly, start the work quickly, and for the whole duration of the work they were so respectful. They always called to say when the work began and when they were finished for the day, kept us updated on how the project was going, etc. And our house looks beautiful, the work was great!Can’t recommend enough, and we’ll definitely be using them again for any future contracting needs!

Jerry and his team were a pleasure to work with for the tuck pointing job I had for my 118 year old home in Washington DC. The crew arrived on time everyday and completed the job successfully. I would highly recommend this company.

Update:

Jerry’s team left two brick walls and did not remove but instead patched up the wall hiding them inside. Because the chimney was removed below I now have a free floating brick wall. This was not disclosed and was only uncovered when a separate contractor started repairs on our bathroom.

The tuckpointing is also crumbling in several places and despite a promise to come back to fix, six months later they have not done so.

Phenomenal job! Johnson was very responsive; their estimating and proposal process was the smoothest process I've experienced. The owner came out to do a walk through with his team, which showed his care and commitment to his business. The tuckpointing was perfection. I couldn't be happier and I will use them again for other projects. Highly recommend!

The Off Limits Contractor crew did an amazing job repointing our 100-year-old four story brick townhouse. They also repaired parging, rebuilt brick walls, installed new bricks under windows, powerwashed, and performed exterior painting. I have a DC row house. OLC did a beautiful job repointing the entire side and back of my house. They also did heavy repairs to my porch and coated the surface. They keep me informed during the whole process.

Offlimits did solid work removing our deteriorating concrete steps and replacing them. They worked with us to incorporate drainage and adjusted plans around our needs and came back and fixed an issue when requested. While the completed the project over a few weeks between other projects, they did a nice job and we’d recommend them.

Robert and Jerry did terrific work on three separate jobs for me - two repointed retaining walls and a repointed walkway/stairs with new handrails. The work was quickly scheduled, expertly done and they cleaned up nicely afterwards. I will absolutely use their services again and recommend them to anyone needing similar work done.

Off Limits repointed and repaired our decorative 6 foot high wall. The masons worked quickly and did an excellent job and the owners ensured that my property and my neighbors on either side were cleaned up (hosed down and first floor windows wiped clean. And new mulch in my front yard). Dealing with the owners Jerry and Robert - two brothers - was easy. They quickly return calls, emails, and texts. They use a formal online contracting system and include photos and details about what they will be doing which is very helpful. Their original estimate was quite high - double a second estimate that I obtained - but they came down dramatically in their price. They readily provided names and numbers of prior clients which was very helpful, and I was appreciative of those people’s time. (The competitor that I had gotten an estimate for never followed through on my request for names and numbers of prior clients). Off Limits did a quality job, and I enthusiastically recommend them.

They are professional, do a great job, and clean the site at the end of each day. I had them redo a retaining wall and repoint my entire brick fence. They also replaced my patio fence, so they've been reliably working on my house for a couple of months. They are especially good about communicating with the neighbors to keep them updated on the activities.
