I have worked with John twice. Both times were insurance claims for a total roof replacement. He is very good at what he does and works with the best crews! They are fast, efficient, and keep things clean. John worked tirelessly to make sure the insurance claims went through correctly. Thorough, professional, and lovely to work with! I have been very satisfied with the work completed by Norse Valhalla. Roofing, and gutters were replaced after storm/hail damage from August 2023.
John was knowledgeable and professional. John was willing to work as the in between with my insurance company and myself.
My home being of 100 years warranted some special attention due to age. His crew was able to accommodate these matters, also John was quick to address any concerns I had post
completion and was able to remedy these concerns in a quick manner. It is very apparent that John understands the importance of good customer service.

I worked with John and NorValCon after a hail storm where I had damage to my roof, fascia and skylights. He was very helpful in working with my insurance people to make sure every issue was addressed, and then also was able to integrate some upgrades I had been hoping to make (on a cash basis) at the same time. I was impressed at his ability to stay in touch even when we ran into glitches, and then to get these solved to everyone's satisfaction in a timely way. I would definitely call John again!

When I had hail damage to my roof, John at Norse Valhalla took care of all communications with my insurance company and got me set up with no hassle. I had just a little bit of damage to my siding as well, and he got the insurance company to cover brand new siding for my entire house because they had discontinued the kind that was originally used. He was very communicative throughout the whole process of getting everything scheduled and installed. The new roof and siding look great! I couldn't be happier.

Norse Valhalla Construction replaced the roof on our new house due to hail damage. The owner of the company, John Smolnik, was in communication with us throughout the process, including insurance and permits, and made it as easy as possible. His crew arrived on time and completed the job in one day, which included clean up. Mr. Smolnik went up on the new roof and inspected the completed project by himself, even dealing with a wasp nest that was found in a vent. We’ve been very happy with our new roof and recommend this company.

This is the second time in the last few years that John Smolnik has come to the rescue to replace my roof on my home after hail damage. Extremely hack be with the speed of his assessment, he was here whenever the insurance people came, helped deal with the insurance company and their Adjusters. The people he actually had come out to do the work were wonderful. Work was done quickly and correctly and they cleaned up the area extremely well.

John is competent and knowledgeable. He was helpful with my insurance claim. He was very willing to communicate with my adjuster and was also willing to go up on the roof with him and go through the claim piece by piece. He successfully facilitated An expedient replacement of my roof. The Storm damage occurred in August and my roof was replaced by mid October. This happened during a time of supply shortages and multiple claims in my area.

Tree fell on my house in September. John was out within an hour of me calling him. He worked with my insurance company which brought their lame estimate of paying for half a roof up to the full cost of all repairs (whole roof!). John was communicative, answered all my questions (of which there were many), and professional. Had great subcontractors who did excellent work. I'm relieved to have it all done and glad I worked with John. Would call again if needed!

John was extremely responsive, was willing to come out to house three times- per our need, initially he did a thorough inspection and video recording of findings/recommendations, talked to insurance adjustor, and double checked our roof decking to ensure there were no surprises for us. he then guided us through insurance process, and once we had green light John had his crew out there the day after. They replaced a 1.5 story house and garage roofs the same day! When i had questions he answered quickly, provided pictures of the progress and finished roof (i was not onsite). It looks fantastic and we are thrilled with how easy and quick this was from start to finish. Definitely recommend Norse Valhalla if you are needing any work done.

I was told by my neighbor he was in the process of getting his roof replaced and was using John Smolnik with Norse Valhalla Construction, and going through insurance to pay for it. John was helping guide him through the process. I decided to reach out to John because I had some missing shingles on my roof. He came over and installed an emergency patch. While he was on the roof he noted I had more damage than what was evident from the ground. I placed a claim with my insurance carrier, and John met with my insurance adjuster. The adjuster agreed with John and bought the roof. I was very happy. I was referred to Norse Valhalla Construction LLC and John Smolnik, after speaking with my neighbor while he had been working with him. He told me that was happy with John’s communication skills, and laying out the scope of work and payment schedule. I liked this because I had multiple items I wanted to have completed i.e. new fascia, gutters, gutter covers, downspouts, and most importantly the issue I was currently having with some annoying squirrels. I needed to know this was going to be resolved so I would not have anymore pest intrusion. The roof was probably 30+ years old and was badly deteriorating, along with multiple layers of shingles. John provided me with a quote and we moved forward. John coordinated everything . . . ordering the material, the crews, dumpster, and pulling the permit and making sure everything was finalized with the City of St. Paul code requirements. John informed me the lower slope on my front porch was noncompliant with today's code and installed the correct roofing material for a flat roof. My old wood fascia was tore off and replaced with PVC so I no longer have to worry about repairing them (goodbye squirrels), the roofing crew was fantastic with navigating the 2 story, extremely steep roof that needed to be overlaid with new plywood, which was an incredibly difficult task, and the beautiful new aluminum gutters, gutter covers and bigger downspouts were installed and look superb. The payments were made exactly as contracted, with no surprises. This was all completed in ~10 days. Thank you John Smolnik and Norse Valhalla Construction LLC for restoring one of my biggest assets. John was recommended by our realtor after we had expressed some concerns about our roof being damaged from a recent storm. We contacted John who came out immediately. He inspected our roof and confirmed there was storm damage.

John assisted us in placing the claim with our insurance carrier and meeting the adjuster. Our insurance carrier agreed with John's assessment and paid for everything. John even went back to them to ensure everything was covered, and was able to include re-decking the roof and some more gutters that they had missed in their original assessment, which dramatically increased the price and added more value to our home.

We hired John to take on the repair. John, and Norse Valhalla Construction LLC took care of everything: from ordering the material, coordinating the labor force, pulling all required permits and working hand in hand with my insurance company providing them with all the necessary documentation and photos. John was always prompt with my questions and concerns, and took action immediately. He was professional and pleasant to work with.

John stopped by our place and inspected our roof and informed us that we had damage that looked like hail. Our carrier agreed with John and they bought the roof, along with some other ancillary items, but our biggest concern was the roof. We now have a beautiful GAF Weathered Wood roof, with the enhanced warranty.
