we had planned to put solar panels on our house when we built it in 2018 but delayed the decision for a couple of years due to finances. We struggled to find a solar panel and installer and happen upon New England solar and it’s primary person Andrew Culo as soon as we met with Andrew on the initial interview we knew we’d found a reliable, enthusiastic and knowledgeable, solar man and we weren’t wrong. He and his partner installed our panels with very little delay, he consulted with us on a regular basis for what we needed. His company walked us through all the regulations and other hook up issues that we might encounter and did all the basic paperwork so that there was virtually nothing that we had to do once the panels were installed. We found our experience with Andrew exceptional and have since recommended him to our good friends who are also now building a house. We recommend him to anyone who reads this.

We’re doing a little happy dance today—with Andrew Guntlow of New England Solar serving as our guide we are now LIVE and generating sufficient power to power our home. Andrew and his team were well-informed, clear, and very effective in all phases from the initial needs assessment to identifying alternative solutions to installation. They didn’t overpromise. There is a lot of paperwork involved in this that I hadn’t expected. New England Solar took care of all that they could. BTW, National Grid was also good about installation of the new meter and explaining what info it was providing. I credit good, clear communication from New England Solar for what seems to be a constructive relationship.

Andrew helped us install a large tracker on our way to being net-zero. There were some hiccups do to zoning and the electric company(they made us upgrade the local grid), but in the end he helped us through these obstacles and our tracker is making large amount of power. At the moment (early October) we have 5,500 kwh balance with the electric company from a tracker that was installed in November.

We've had our solar array long enough that the original installer is no longer in business, so we were worried when high winds damaged the array, but Andrew took in our "orphaned" system and fixed the damage. He was incredibly professional, and we really appreciated the help!

I would give them zero stars, but this option is not available. So, for the past two weeks I have called and left three messages and went online to the website and completed the online information where you think they would then call for a consultation. Well, after four times and the phone calls I have yet to receive a call to discuss having solar put on my house. really pathetic if people want to stay in business. So, to the owner if you read this do not call me, I have found other options.

We reached out to New England Solar about a ground mount system after the constant electric rate hikes in the last two years. Andrew responded promptly to us and set up a site inspection. From there it was an easy process. Andrew went over some of the pro's and con's to adding batteries (we are set up to add them later) and what to realistically expect production wise. This included a detailed proposal we were able to look over and make sure we understood what we were getting into.

Once we agreed, things moved pretty quickly and smoothly, with NES+ Green taking care of all town and electric company permitting. Something I think that also should be noted is that Andrew is detail oriented and on site. This is something I think is missing on a lot of the "fly by night" or larger businesses. Connection boxes and the like can only be so beautiful, a ground mount isn't winning a design award. That said, NES took the time to tuck our boxes away as much as possible and they also took care to try to minimize any extra bits on the mount themselves to keep them as clean looking as possible. Some people don't care how things look, but we do and it's something that should be taken into account.

The installation was completed with minimal disturbance to ourselves and our property, and done quickly.

10/10 will use them in the future to expand our solar capacities as we go forward in the future.

Andrew (owner) is an outstanding solar power system designer, installer, and communicator. He uses only excellent components, and does everything the best way. I am extremely happy with my installation of solar panels on my house. We had a very large demand for our energy because of electric heating, and Andrew was able to design a system that accounted for over 80% of our demand and was still VERY reasonable in cost. I shopped around with both local and national solar installers, but NES+G had the best price per watt. Andrew was also very knowledgeable about every element of the process (including making sure our roof could properly support the system), and he made sure that he communicated every aspect and that we were comfortable with the design and cost. I did not feel ANY sales pressure like I did with other companies, and truly felt he designed and installed the system that we will benefit most from.

I am up and running on my new system from New England Solar + Green and I love it! Andrew was awesome. Where else can you find a company where the guy selling you the system is also the one on the roof installing the panels? He answered all my questions and handled everything from the initial conversations all the way through getting connected with National Grid. Contract was signed on April 22 and I was producing power and sending it back to the grid on May 23. That's impressive. The equipment is top notch, it looks like I have a glass roof. I reviewed solar options for my residence in MA for several months prior to selection of a vendor, this included both large and small companies servicing our area. I settled on New England Solar + Green for several reasons,
1- Lease vs buy, the larger companies promoted leasing. It was clear several of the larger companies had no interest in sales of solar systems and were totally focused on leases, they wanted some or all the tax credits. New England Solar + Green offered either option and carefully explained the advantages/disadvantages to these option.
2-New England Solar + Green reviewed my site and offered some very creative options others had overlooked. They understand the terrain and canopy as it relates to solar generation, the soils limitations, utility company policies and procedures as it relates to solar. The solar install was done very well, and the solar panels were able to go up by the end of December in order for me to be able to get the full tax credit for 2019. New England Solar and Green Solutions worked around the clock to make this happen.

There is another outside company working with the Solarize Mass many hours away that is signing houses in the area for solar installs. Andrew's pricing was in line with what the company working with Solarize Mass provided, and the panels were much newer. The panels that the vendor working with Solarize Mass are supplying are likely new, but are 4-5 year old technology wise, and you are far better off long term with current technology panels.

Also, Andrew explained to me as things stand currently, the Tesla power wall battery pack with it's cost, and installation, does not end up really paying for itself. The company working with Solarize Mass was more than happy to sell me one, without really mentioning that there was no payoff. If you really want power when the grid goes out, you can just buy yourself a generator for about 1/4 the price.

Finally, choosing a local installer for your solar panels, will also result in faster response time, and faster service, in the event an issue does arise. I did have an issue with a bad breaker on the new install, and it was fixed within a day of discovering the problem. Try getting that service with a company based three hours away.

He was so meticulous in fact that during the installation he sent back materials for our array mount to the supplier to make sure it was perfect. He later showed up to trim a branch that was shading a panel in the upper corner (said he was monitoring our usage and noticing the underperforming panel so came by to take care of it - who does that?!) Our production has exceeded expectations and we have not paid an electric bill since installation this summer. Can't recommend NE Solar and Green Solutions enough.

A chance inquiry at NESGS's booth in a Berkshire trade show in 2014 eventually led to our solar install in 2015.After the show Andrew came and did a site evaluation ,a presentation and proposal.His knowledge and honest straight-forward answers about the process convinced us that we'd found our contractor.It took a few months for us to actually sign up and appreciated never being "encouraged" or pushed to sign by NESGS.

I approached NESGS after receiving several recommendations and never looked back! They installed a 21kW ground mounted solar array and we couldn’t have been more pleased with the results.
Our site was unique as the array had to clear a service driveway and our 8ft tennis court fence (just take a look!). The project exceeded our expectations in every area!

Our roof mounted PV system has been in place since the fall of 2012, trouble free. When my wife and I decided to proceed, we met with three installers. We are glad we did our homework. We happen to meet with Andy last. He thoroughly covered all the options available to us from square one. The other vendors we met with assumed we had a lot of PV knowledge (albeit a good amount) and made condescending remarks during our meeting; assuming because they spent just an hour with us we were ready to make a purchase/commitment after a semi-pressured sales presentation. Not so with Andy. Our meeting with Andy was casual, comfortable and professional. It was a difficult financial decision but we elected to purchase our installation vs other available options and component options.
The scheduling and installation could not have been smoother. The installation took less than a week and afterwards connected to the ‘grid’ in a week’s time. Andy took care of everything.
A few years after the installation we had trouble with the cabled connection for the reporting module and decided to omit the cord and go wireless to the house modem. Andy coordinated sending what was needed and then communicated with us via e-mail for the simple conversion. He was patient through the process.
Andy also makes it a point to periodically review the output of their installation to help ensure proper operation and benefit.

We are within a month of the second anniversary of our solar panel installation and it is time to relate how pleased we have been with the entire experience with Andrew Guntlow and New England Solar and Green Solutions.
Andrew made an initial inspection, and all engineering details were addressed before an estimate was presented. A contract was signed and all terms (price, schedule, materials, paperwork, activation) were perfectly executed. The roof was properly reinforced for panel and snow load (something other companies didn't initially address) even though access and working space were limited. The panels were perfectly installed with absolutely no damage to the one week old roof.
The power delivered covers year round usage and leaves a surplus. Electric bills are a thing of the distant past. Andrew's knowledge and willingness to instruct, enlighten, and answer questions were impressive. To this day, he regularly checks our production and lets us know (always before we notice) when our computer fails to monitor the panels.
It has been rare in my life to see a company deliver on absolutely everything they promised. If you are considering solar and want a great experience there is no question what our recommendation would be.

Wow - six years have passed since we engaged NESGS for a site study that resulted in our rooftop solar install. Over those years, Andrew has always been a quick phone call or email away to discuss ANYTHING solar. Our panels have produced flawlessly and we appreciate when they check in to ensure that it's only the recent snowfall that is impeding our production. NESGS delivered as they advertised and we highly recommend them!

Philosophically I have been a supporter of solar energy (and other green energy sources) for a long time, but only recently centered on doing my part to help assuage climate change. NES&GS is helping me toward that goal, while also minimizing my dependence on National Grid. Based on strong recommendations from friends who had solar arrays installed by them, and the fact that they are local, I called for an estimate. I met with the contractor, who is also the installer and who patiently explained what was possible and what he recommended for my home. Within a few days I had a proposal and estimate, including a timeline. The attention to detail, professionalism, and cheerful approach are admirable! Other than weather delays and some software malfunctions (now solved) the installation went as scheduled. All paperwork is submitted by NES&GS and they continue to monitor the system. I decided to include a battery and look forward to a measure of self-sufficiency during power outages. While my system is very new, I'm very pleased and highly recommend NES&GS!

My 7.5 kW ground mount system was installed successfully in 2012. They were willing to coordinate and work with my preferred electrician and site contractor. Aside from one hiccup with an inverter on startup, which was promptly covered under warranty, the system performed flawlessly for 6 years. In 2018, when we wanted to add 2.5 kW to compliment my geothermal system, Andrew was the obvious choice.
In sum, if you want a solar company to honestly say what they do...and then follow through, for a complete and working system - on time and on budget - Andrew and NESGS are highly recommended. Thank you Andrew. Mike P.

NES&G installed a large home 3-unit tracking system 5 years ago. It has performed flawlessly! Between generation and solar quarterly credits, I have not spent a dime on electricity since. The units recently stopped uploading data. I emailed Andrew and was back online in 2-days (and that was over a holiday weekend to boot). Great product, better service!

Coming home from work one day I noticed Andrew's trailer parked in my neighbors yard and as Solar was something that I have always been interested in philosophically. I took the number down and called.
Andrew came over and patiently explained the process and was very honest and upfront about what we could and could not expect from a solar installation. After our meeting I did my some research, getting quotes from some much larger companies and found New England Solar prices to be very competitive .
The thing that separates New England Solar from the rest is the amazing customer service...We have received several emails from Andrew ..."hey Ken I noticed ......about your solar array. I am coming by to check it out."..all of which has made having solar for us a "set it and forget it experience"

I have used New England Solar and Green Solutions twice and have been extremely satisfied on both occasions. We did our first solar install in 2012-13 and have been very satisfied with the production, monitoring and how everything has worked overall. When it came time for a second house to have solar, I didn't look anywhere else. I wanted to get a few quotes for my solar project, so I reached out to New England Solar & Green Solutions on the recommendation of two friends. I
m so glad that I did. Andrew quickly responded to my request for an appointment to discuss the project and came to the house within a few days to begin getting the necessary information. I had a quote for the recommended array within a day. At first, I wanted a few more panels than what was recommended, and I did 'push' it a couple of times, but Andrew highly recommended that the original quoted array size was more than large enough and the design did allow for additional panels to be added, if it ever becomes necessary. I truly appreciated his persistence in keeping with his recommendation. He could have easily just included the additional panels and made more money, but he was a true professional. During the installation, Andrew and his team showed up when he stated, got the work done as stated, and kept me totally informed throughout the duration of the project. Andrew worked very hard to make sure all paper work and inspections were done very quickly, so we can get the array up and running as soon as possible. It took approx. three weeks, after signing the contract, to having the array up and running. The vast majority of the time was waiting for EverSource and the electrical inspections. The other deciding factors for using NESG were: their quote came in below that from a larger national provider, using a larger array, 6.365 kWh vs. 5.605 kWh (both used 19 panels), and highly efficient, better quality panels. I also liked that they were a local company. They are truly a turnkey solution for your solar needs.

Our first attempt was roof-top, which was not deemed economical for our location. Our next plan was for a stand-alone system. NES&GS recommended a tracking system which appeared to be ideal for our location. Installation was fast, efficient, and on time. Installation was in November, so we haven't had any $0 electric bills yet, but as the days get longer we're generating more electricity. Andrew has been very responsive to any questions we've had. We're very pleased to do business with a local company, especially one as well run as NES&GS.

This company has incredible integrity, honesty and professionalism. My husband and I spoke to four other solar companies before picking New England solar and green based out of Williamstown. The two national companies were much more expensive, poorer quality and inefficient. We not only are we confident in choosing New England Solar and Green, we are proud they are local.
