Neil Jones Home Improvements

This year I hired Neil’s company to do work on my house and rebuild my old deck. I just want to preface that this review isn’t with malicious intent. Neil was one of the first people that actually responded back to me and came to my home within a reasonable time and gave a proposal of what I needed fixed with a reasonable payment fee. He gave a time frame of when the project was going to take place and what dates his team would be here. By the time those dates approached there was no word from the company and so I contacted Neil about it. At first he wasn’t aware of who I was or what project I was talking about and it took a couple tries to get him to remember which project it was. The first red flag should have been a lack of time management. As a company if you set times and dates and promise clients certain things then it should be your responsibility to inform them frequently about everything that is going on with the project, especially when there’s money involved. After explaining to me that there was a few incidents with his team and losses, I understood. When things happen, they happen, but I should be informed. However as time went on the project continued over the course of a few months (when it was supposed to be within a month) the lack of communication progressed. During our consultation in the beginning what I asked for wasn’t what was being done and things kept piling up to the point where I wasn’t able to afford continuing the project. Neil stated that it was difficult for him to finish everything so quickly because incidents within the company and personal hardships and his lack of guys and there were only two people working on things for my home. But to be honest that’s no excuse. I had my entire basement remodeled before his project was completed. And that basement was done with ONE guy over the course of two weeks, MONTHS after Neil said he was going to do the work on the home. As I’ve mentioned I understand things happen, I’m not a monster and in this economy it’s hard to find work, but the most important thing is communication, punctuality and time management when it comes to projects. Showing up to things is half the battle. His team would show up sometimes or not show up for a week and then say hey actually we are coming next week and then not show up or show up at the end of the week when it was too late already. If the company was unable to complete the project then I should have just been informed and I would have understand and found someone else. It’s disappointing to see that I hired the company after seeing all five star ratings but it didn’t turn out the way for me. Neil is a good person and is a friendly presence but it didn’t seem like this project was cut out to succeed. I am thankful for his team members, Matt and Colin, for doing what they were able to and I’m sure it’s not their fault as they are just employees, but I hope in the future Neil’s company itself sees the at this current moment how they manage things isn’t right.

I rarely post comments online, but I wanted to share how pleased we are with the work Neil and the team did in replacing about 20 windows in our home. This was a difficult project that 2 prior contractors failed to execute. Neil came in, was fantastic to work with, incredibly helpful in making sure everything was done correctly, and very fair in his dealings with me and in pricing the project. Ted and his crew did a fantastic job with the installation, great communication, cleaned up everyday, and were very accommodating when I presented them with some unexpected delays on my part. I highly recommend Neil and team for any home improvement project

Neil’s roofing service came highly recommended (Two of my neighbors used him), and his crew did not disappoint. Not only was he recommended , but he came in as the lowest quote amongst 3 that we got. They reroofed /shingled our house in 1.5 days. Super efficient, hard working and meticulous. When they left, I walked around the house and literally could not find a trace of evidence that they had been there.
