NF Landscaping is top notch. Reached out Sunday night for large scale poison ivy removal that needed to be done ASAP. Got back to me that night, and was there the next morning. Had it all removed and sprayed by noon. Did a fantastic job. Matt & Chris are the best!

Our experience with Natures Frontier Landscaping was truly the worst contractor experience we've ever had. We had this work done last spring and while I don't like writing bad reviews, the arrival of spring this year has reignited this disappointment and frustration with the work that was done as we are again spending more money and time to fix it.

Matt rarely arrived to work before 9:00am, with most days starting between 10-11am forcing me to text repeatedly asking if he was coming. He often spent excessive time on his phone instead of working (my husband confronted him after watching him on his phone for nearly 30 minutes straight during a crucial workday without rain). One particularly frustrating day, he arrived and then abruptly left after only 3 hours, later claiming vague "computer/phone system issues" when I called to ask why.

Every request to fix an issue was met with assurances that were rarely fulfilled, requiring multiple follow-ups. When confronted about inadequate work, he would promise to return with proper equipment and materials, only to arrive with insufficient resources.

While spring rains caused legitimate delays, they frequently didn't show up even on clear days or they showed up late morning. They installed drainage system haphazardly—they added catch basins but failed to cement them into the ground or properly secure them with surrounding dirt and then left for the day. The following morning, a brief heavy rain flooded and dislodged the unsecured catch basins from their holes. This poor planning cost us more time to fix them. Despite multiple specific requests to cement all basins, they repeatedly missed the same one until my husband, out of sheer frustration, finally did it himself.

Matt left heavy machinery parked on our property for several days during rain (understandable), but then one day, someone from his company came and inexplicably attempted to move it to another job site and drove it directly into the muddiest part of our yard, where it became stuck for days. We were having that part of our property prepared for clearing to pave a new driveway. He failed to move the truck in time, forcing us to reschedule at our inconvenience when their stuck equipment blocked access.

Matt agreed to transplant some established arborvitaes, claiming an "80% survival rate," but then his workers essentially ripped them from the ground without proper root balls. I witnessed the trees lying on the ground without root balls overnight, waiting to be planted the next day, but trusted their expertise as professionals—every single transplanted tree died. We purchased and had planted 35 Green Giant trees for our privacy screen, but many were installed 4-5 inches too shallow or into rocky soil with exposed root balls. We personally had to replant several trees properly ourselves. Despite our efforts, 4 still didn't survive.

Near project completion, Matt promised to bring proper fill dirt and use a riding machine to efficiently level our uneven, rocky yard as this was part of our original agreement and part of the water mitigation work for which we had the project done in the first place. Instead, he delivered only a pickup truck's worth of sandy material, had a single worker spread it by hand, while he sat in his truck on his phone. After he left that day, I realized he had failed to reseed the newly "filled" areas as promised, despite this being explicitly discussed the day before. Essentially all of this left us with such poorly graded soil in the beginning of June that we've since spent considerable time and money properly leveling and reseeding to prevent having a barren dirt yard by July, like we did last year.

By the end of the project it became less stressful to fix the issues ourselves than to continue the exhausting process of addressing issues with Matt, having him claim he will fix it, following up and then realizing he did not do anything he claimed.

Matt and his team were amazing. Job came out better than expected. Will be using them in the future for any of our landscaping needs.

Matt is super easy to work with and incredibly fair with pricing. They completed a garage demolition for us which was a little tricky given location. Matt and his team did an amazing job!

I hired them to remove my old fence. It took them about thirty minutes to remove 48 feet of fence. Fantastic job!! Thank you!

Matthias, owner of Nature’s Frontier is about the worst class of small business owner- untrustworthy, unreliable and disreputable.

I trusted this business because of a positive reference from a neighbor, so I can only conclude that they are at best inconsistent. My experience with them and specifically with the owner l, Matt, personally was very different. I received a bid for installing and painting a fence. Because the painting portion was to occur 3-4 weeks later, I was told the subset amount to pay Nature’s Frontier for the fence installation (almost 90% of the total quote) and that they would schedule the painting for the remaining amount later in the summer. The installation was in May 2024. The installation team promised me that installation portion would be completed the next day and asked to be paid. Because we were going away for a few weeks, I believed them at their word that they would finish installation and clean up the piles of wood debris and so I paid what they asked in full for the installation.

That was a huge mistake. As I mentioned, the majority of the installation and my 100% installation payment occurred in May 2024, but it over a month of pestering calls to get Matt to have his team come to remove the piles of wood refuse. Also, the installation was never completed - it took more than 3 more months to get Matt to come back to install the fence post caps - and he even left that simple job incomplete! As of the last week of October, 2024, two fence post caps were still missing.

I called and left messages with the office and with Matt personally. dozens of times. Matthius/ Matt promised at least 10 times to finish the post caps (“tomorrow” ) and then to schedule the painting. Neither ever happened.

I’ve had to engage others to finish the fence and paint it and they informed me Matt switched the materials - I was promised pressure treated posts and they are not. pressure treated. When I investigated this further with Matt’s subcontractor who originally put up the fence (Mark)l, he confirmed that Matt switched out the material for posts that were not pressure treated and were less expensive. He also confirmed that my experience of unfinished work and unfulfilled commitments are not uncommon among Matt’s customer from his experience. Mark is no longer working with Matt.

I have dealt with many contractors in multiple homes over the past 40 years and I can say with confidence this is the worst experience that I’ve had. I rated it one star because no stars or negative stars aren’t an option.

I’ve since looked at the reviews and while there are many positive ones, I am far from alone in the group of very unsatisfied customers. My advice is to RUN from this business unless you want to risk being one of the “wish there were negative stars” customers.

10/29/24 update- The Nature’s Frontier response listed is insincere at best. This review did finally get Matt to respond. He texted me and offered to pay $700 to remove this review or he’d remove the fence and return what was paid for the installation that he never completed. This may be a price he typically use to remove negative reviews but it had no basis to my actual out of pocket costs to complete this work. After months of promises by Matt to complete the work with no actual delivery on those promises, I’d already paid to have the fence completed, so tearing it down wasn’t a realistic option.

I offered to show receipts for the incremental $1100 that completing this fence cost me, which is what I believe justifies a fair resolution payment. That’s when Matt went dark again.

So the well- written response to my review does not in any way reflect the subsequent actions taken by this business to address the situation. I can only assume the business has concluded that paying some amount remove a negative review is less costly than actually doing the job committed to. How very sad and short-sighted.

Matt and team are awesome. Reliable, professional, responsive, plain nice, and great at getting it done. We just completed a project with Nature's Frontier and couldn't be happier with the work and result. Thank you all!

Nf landscaping did a PHENOMENAL job restoring our front yards landscaping. Was able to get a quote and job completed within 3 days. Owner is very responsive and very fairly priced. I would highly highly recommend!

had matt come out in 2021 to do some prep and leveling work before putting a porch up. he was hard to reach, inconsistent, but eventually got it more or less done. its not graded correctly nor was the weed barrier done, and he would not do work that required a permit, which is weird given what the website says. wouldnt try again, probably ok for small projects tho

We had so much trouble finding a reliable landscaper and natures frontier had amazing communication and showed up when they said they would. Lawn looks amazing we will continue to use them going forward we’re so happy with how everything turned out!

Very happy with my service. They did an amazing job. My lawn needed a lot of work, so I was worried that it would be very costly but they were reasonable. The owner also came and quoted me the same day I called and was very nice. Highly recommend!

I was looking for SOD installation. They returned my call instantly and followed up with me based in my needs and availability. They provided an accurate estimate for the work and were professional upon initial visit and installation. They also followed up with my satisfaction post installation and helpful tips to ensure healthy SOD throughout the year. I would highly recommend and use them again in the future for other services.

This company is high-end first class service. I was stunned after they did the first initial clean-up. My yard has never looked and smelled so good over the past 14 years. They cleaned my driveway and all paved areas extremely well, placed mulch, trimmed branches, and removed all kinds of debris. We didn't realize how bad our previous landscaper was until we hired this company. It is a big difference. Now, they are a little pricey as compared to some other companies; but, you get what you pay for. I would highly recommend natures

This company is awesome, I reached out as a new customer for a yard cleanup for mothers day, and they made it happen for me in perfect time. They worked fast and did a great job! Easy to communicate with, fair and reliable. Recommended!

I'm very happy with this company. We were getting a lot of water in our basement and It required putting a drainage pipe outside to take the water away from the house. So far it seems to have worked pretty well. There's still a little water, but nothing like it was, and when Matt called to check in after the recent storms he said they would take care of that. Excellent communication. Really on top of things!

I can’t speak highly enough of Mathias and his crew, they have done exemplary work the past few winters I have been working with them for our snow plowing and salting. As well as their wide array of property management services they are truly a one stop shop. Nice to know the solution to any problem I have on my property is one call away. Thanks Mathias!!!

l've been looking at a mess in my backyard for years now and finally decided I need a new fence, I called nature's frontier for a free estimate, they came by fast, was very reasonable and respectful. told them I needed a fence asap to keep my dog in the yard and he expedited my fence it was up in 2 days and low to ground so my dog couldn't escape, it looks absolutely amazing. I'm extremely satisfied with nature's frontier and would recommend to anyone in the future.

Matias has been great for any projects that come up. We recently had him remove 4 trees and they were done and cleaned up by lunch.

Had these guys do some excavation work for us this year. They were timely and gave us a great price and Work was was up to par. Handled job within a day and made sure to leave excavated site neat and presentable

Please read the one star reviews on this business. Made an appointment for a 32' by 8' area to be cleared prior to a fence installation. Matt had a lot of enthusiasm and made an appointment for the work to be done. On the day of appointment, no one came and no phone call. Attempted to contact him, left a message and never got a response. This is the usual behavior for him as other reviews stated but I thought he was better than that. Obviously not. Very unprofessional. AND, the business address online is NOT where his business is located. Hired Viera Landscaping and cannot say enough about the professional response.

Nature’s Frontier was one of the only landscapers to not only return my call but show up that week for a consult. They rehabbed out front garden, pulling old plants and weeding followed by mulching. They did a great job and were in and out in a day. They even mowed my back lawn while they were there. Will use them again for some fall planting and cleanup. Great folks!

DO NOT HIRE THEM ,THEY FRAUDULENT CHARGE my Visa card .. If you’re a landlord BEWARE not around to check …….2021 I hired This landscaping service company to attend to my rental property in North Providence,…My tenants informed me at the end of the year that they cut the grass for the last 3/months in the summer ..that the landscapers never showed up …but they continue to bill me ….I asked them to send me pictures of the service each time they cut the lawn they never did…Move into 2022 I confronted them that my lawn was not service but received Bills that he directly charge me (they said sorry short employees ) He promised me that he was going to credit my visa not to be concerned ..I received my visa bill today and there was no credit !,These people are cheaters I am reporting them to the Better Business Bureau !

My patio turned out to be more beautiful than I ever could have imagined! The team was extremely professional and along the way they offered suggestions that made the final outcome even better. I am so delighted and will most certainly turn to Matt and his team again for future landscaping work.

Well, I hate to write bad reviews and would never have done so, but this went too far. Spending more than 5k on jobs which were done under par and then the stories began about rescheduling the repairs, not answering the phone, scheduling and not showing up. Giving me his "word of honor" and never showing up. Promising a free fall clean up and never following up. All lies.
Eventually I had enough and hired a professional who showed up and rectified the over-promised and under-delivered jobs.
The straw which broke the camel's (my) back were the constant LIES and no action. I heard all of the "excuses" for several months. I should have read the other 1 star review earlier, which showed exactly the same behavior.
If you were in my shoes you would also write a review. Sorry Matt, you lost my trust. 1 star is too much......RUN!
