I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the recent picture window and sliding door installation completed at my home by Mr. Handyman of Racine. The work itself was done well and I have no complaints of the quality of the craftsmanship. While the work itself is now finished, I am deeply concerned about the substantial discrepancy between the initial itemized estimate provided and the final cost I was required to pay.
Prior to the commencement of the work, I was given an itemized statement totaling $2,694. This estimate outlined the anticipated costs for both labor and materials. However, upon completion, the final bill amounted to $3,597. This represents a cost overrun of $903, which is approximately a 33.5% increase over the original estimate.
I understand that unforeseen circumstances can sometimes lead to minor adjustments in project costs, particularly regarding additional hours of work or the need for unexpected supplies. I really don't have a problem with that.

However, what makes this situation particularly troubling is the inconsistent and inflated billing I experienced. At the completion of the job, the carpenter on-site presented me with a labor bill of $2,759. He explained that this increase was due to an additional 2 hours (or 4 man-hours) of work. He also showed me a receipt for extra supplies totaling $368. Based on these figures, I anticipated a revised total reflecting these discussed adjustments.
However, when I received the official bill from Mr. Handyman, the labor cost had inexplicably risen further to $2,938, and the supply bill surged to $659. This means that despite the on-site discussion, the labor charge increased an additional $179, and the supply charge jumped an astounding $291 beyond what was documented by your own carpenter. The only explanation I've received for these additional increases from Mr. Handyman is that "they add a surcharge for supplies," which is an unacceptable and vague justification for such a significant markup.
I find these discrepancies, particularly the unexplained increases beyond what was communicated on-site, to be unethical and misleading. I was not informed of these further markups, nor were they justified by any additional work or material costs.

Tech was right on time and took care of the 3 projects I had quickly and professionally for less than the estimate.

I'm not sure how they normally do business, and I can't speak to their work quality.
I had a contractor get arrested before the job was completed, I was told on the phone to send pictures to give an accident so I could avoid them charging $218 to look at something that's 90% done.

All the project needs is a footer under my porch a piece of plywood cut to cover the floor and the toe kick.

After sending in the requested photos, they tell me the next day that an onsite estimate is required for $218.

I don't know about you but every contractor I've ever used doesn't charge you a fee that high simply to give you an estimate.

Some may charge I've seen 75 bucks but that will be waved if you hire them. But of course definitely for a specialized jobs and I can understand that.

I personally feel that that is excessive fee when they can see most of what needs to be done. Judge for yourself. Pics attached.

I don't feel that this is a very complex job that requires you to be on site given the photos of the work needed to stabilize it.

Alexandor was extremely professional and did an excellent job painting our house trim and the garage interior. Neat, tidy and efficient.

Alex fixed our screen door, did a great job. He was on time, pleasant, and left no mess behind. We are happy with the repair, and will use them again should need arise.

How wonderful it was to have Alex over to install my mailbox. So happy to please his customer. I will definitely be reaching out again soon. Thank you!

I will definitely use Mr.Handyman again. I appreciate their prompt response and were able to schedule the work for the next day. Alexander Aker was great. He was pleasant and very helpful, he explained what he was going to do and how long it would take, he made sure I was comfortable with how the project would go. Alex made sure the project was completed to my satisfaction.

Alexandor Aker did a great job with fixing our dryer, but he was unable to install the dryer vent hood because it would have been around $600 dollars to replace.

I had a quick little job that I couldn't finish in time by myself, but Craig and his crew were able to help me, and we were able to finish it in a timely manner.

Dan was on time, very professional and a great person. He assessed the situation made some minor adjustments so the windows work. He took several photos and they will get back to use once they are able to locate the replacement parts.

Love the text communication (The arrival time, pictures of the project before and after and a thank you message). The handyman (Craig) that was assigned to our project was very thorough and personable. The fascia project turned out great! I will definitely use them again.

Chad and Dan did a great job installing a patio cover over my existing deck.It looks great they were polite and obviously knew what they were doing.

Before we purchased this home, this door came out of the railing, so having it fixed was part of the purchase amendment. We were given the receipt that this company “fixed” it and here is the result of their work. Thankfully no one was hurt. But it is frustrating knowing they did not do the job and now we have to fix it right.

Called to have a bathroom ceiling fan replaced. Was quoted $350 max. Told them that it was a fan light combo. After we agreed to have someone come to do the job I looked and it was a fan only. I was texted and asked to measure the fan so they brought the correct one. I assumed the dimensions were a 10 x 10 fan since I've never measured one. Technician arrived and after about a half hour I was told it was the wrong size and he needed to go get the correct one. He returned about an hour later and I was told the new fan was more expensive by about $60. He installed it and it was time to settle up. I was informed it would be $746. How does the price double for a $60 up charge on a fan. Crooks....do not use them.

Wow Alexander went above and beyond. Did a perfect job and gave my wife and I some great advice on home repairs. Can’t say enough good things about this guy.

I called Mr. Handyman of Racine County for a diagonal downspout that was clogged. In all my years of calling service men I have never had such prompt and just outstanding service. Alex was just great!

Our son needed a small side porch replaced. None of the vendors we called were interested - not worth their effort, too small a job.

We called our local Mr. Handyman. They responded immediately. Chad rebuilt the porch and did a splendid job. The price was reasonable, communication was excellent, and I would recommend them for any type of service you would need.

I can recommend Mr. Handyman of Racine County without reservation. Professional. Efficient. Timely. The workmanship was exceptional - I feel so confident and pleased with the job. Additionally, when I wanted to schedule the second half of the project (originally to be done the following month) within the same week, the team worked together to get it done for us. Simply wonderful experience.

I needed a very basic repair on the siding of my house. I must have called or messaged at least 10 companies or independent handy peoples ( people thru Thumbtack, Angie's List, independently thru Google). And not one of them was willing to do the repair or they wanted to replace all of my siding or the company had a $5,000 minimum repair requirement. Seriously?!

Mr. Handyman actually responded to my request within 2 business hours, the lady I spoke with on the phone was helpful and professional. Chad, the handyman, who came out to my home on the day and time he was scheduled to do so was AWESOME. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and on and on. Just a positive experience with this company from beginning to end which felt like a miracle after all the other people and companies I reached out to. Couldn't recommend more for a random siding/fascia repair.

First I emailed. When I received no response I called. Samantha, the woman who answered the phone said she hasn’t received it and asked me to forward the email to her, which I did. After she answered all my questions, including an estimate for the work to be done via email, I called to schedule a time for Mr. Handyman to fix the issue. The morning he was due to arrive it was raining which completely changed what I needed done. I called to explain and she said it was absolutely no problem to address that issue instead. Thirty minutes before his expected arrival I received a text with his picture and credentials. I explained what needed to be done and he got to work right away. He taped off the area he was working in with plastic so dust wouldn’t go everywhere. He completed the job exactly as I had envisioned and it looked fantastic. He then vacuumed and left it looking better than when he arrived. Highly recommend!

I used Mr. Handyman yesterday for some much needed repairs to soffit and fascia on my home. From the get go, I was impressed with the level of communication. Samantha was always very quick to respond and promptly provided an estimate for me with photos I shared with her. Turns out her estimate was spot on!

Dan replaced shutters on my home and a cracked piece of vinyl siding on the garage. The work was excellent. I would use Mr. Handyman again for any home projects I don't want to tackle myself.

After two or three local "handyman" firms ignored me, I found Mr. Handyman of Racine and Kenosha Counties. I got an appointment within a few days, regular communication from the office staff and a helpful general contractor. My construction issue was a little complex and involved some detective work, but the guy stuck with it long enough to identify and correct the problem. The billing amount, reasonable from the start, wound up being just a few dollars over the estimate. Mr. Handyman is coming back in the spring to do some more work for me, and I think I have found a great vendor.

Would have been five stars but I made it clear when I hired handyman that I had a filtered water faucet that needed to be removed from my old sink and added to my new sink. It didn’t leak before he started but leaked once he installed it on the new sink. At that point he informed me that that they “handyman” did not specialize in those faucets. Now I have to hirer another individual at 95 dollars to finish the job.

Alex was great. Very helpful and saved us some money. He was on time, respectulful, polite and did a great job on our to do list of repairs.

I had a complicated situation. Squirrels found weakness in wood in soffit, and chewed a fist-size hole in the corner where it, the under board, and the fascia met. Too complicated for me. Mr. Handyman responded to the info the same day, scheduled within a month, provided an accurate estimate, arrived on time, and completed the job perfectly. I like to take care of repairs myself, as I am somewhat handy and like to save money, and I could not be happier with this service. Highly recommend.

This could have been a one star review, but they really came through and made things right. I needed my old attic ladder replaced. It was 70 years old, rickety and I didn't trust it. So I picked up a new one and had them install it.

The first person they sent did...well, to be blunt a horrific job, didn't install it properly and wound up butchering the ladder assembly in the process. It's too long to go into details.

HOWEVER, once I relayed this information and my extreme dis-satisfaction to the company, the owner himself took charge of the situation, replaced the ruined ladder and came out himself with another technician to oversee installation of the new ladder correctly and properly. The finished product was exactly what I was looking for, and I'm very pleased with the final result.

So, even if mistakes are made, this company gives the impression of being one that stands behind their warranty and their word and they go above and beyond when something doesn't work out right. Would recommend.
