Not sure how Randy got my previous review deleted but I’ll just keep reviewing until they get it deleted again. Do not do business with Mountainland Exteriors! If I could give them zero stars I would, it pains me that I have to even give them one star. The owner Randy’s son-in-law Jordan came to my home, said he noticed my roof looked in need of replacing and offered to do a bid. It was in fact an old roof and I was interested in hearing a bid so I allowed him to come in and take a look. He was nice enough, looked at the roof, came inside and sat down to discuss the bid. He told us the cost to remove the old roof and replace it would be around $10,000. We said we didn’t have that kind of money so no thanks. Jordan then proceeded to tell us how bad the shape of our roof really was and we really need to replace it. Fear tactics, you understand. We again said that we can not afford it. He then told us that they have a financing company and he could see if we qualify for financing that would require monthly payments instead of payment in full upfront. Our credit wasn’t great at the time and I told him as much but he insisted we try, “what’s the worst that could happen?” We gave him our information, he submitted our information to the financing company, and he told us we were approved for financing. We scheduled the work and they came out and replaced the roof. A few weeks later we get an aggressive call from Randy demanding payment in full. I was surprised, told him it was financed and said this must be some sort of mistake. He said there was no mistake, we never qualified for financing and if we didn’t pay $12,000 in full by the end of the week he would put a lien on our home. I told him that my bid said $10,000, not $12,000, as did my contract. He said that the roof was in worse shape that they realized and it had required more work. I told him that was ridiculous, I was never told about additional work and I wasn’t going to pay more than the contract even stipulated. I explained to him that his son-in-law Jordan had told me himself that it was financed and that I never would have agreed to the work had I been told that I was not approved. He basically called me a liar and again threatened to put a lien on my home if it wasn’t paid by the end of the week. You’ll notice from reading other reviews that he does this a lot. Tells people they are approved for financing, does the work, and then let’s them know they were never approved and demands payment. So don’t use this guy. I scrambled for days trying to find a bank who would loan me such a large sum in a personal loan. I was having no luck so I had my dad co-sign. I called Randy and told him I had the check. He came to my home, my husband made him sign a paper saying he was paid in full because I didn’t trust that he wouldn’t try to come after us for the other $2,000 that was never agreed on. Weeks later, after he was paid, i was surprised (maybe not so surprised since Randy is so completely dishonest) to find a letter in my mailbox stating that there was indeed a lien put on my home by Randy. When I called him to ask him why he put a lien on my home after he was paid he acted like it put on before payment was made but I knew he had done it after just to ruffle our feathers and cause us more inconvenience. I submitted a google review soon after this all happened and I got a Facebook message from someone I didn’t recognize. I opened it and it was Randy’s daughter confronting me for calling out her father and husband by name and telling me to take my review down. Yikes. Just avoid these people at all costs. You will regret doing business with them, I promise.
