M&M Skylights

M&M installed three solar tunnels for us. As of now, about two months past install, I'd give them 4.7 stars (I rounded up). I highly recommend M&M skylights to anyone looking for sun tunnels.

I broke their review into three parts:

1) Product (5): These tunnels are exactly what we needed and exceeded our expectations. They provide even more light than we expected (we had seen two in my wife's grandparents' house in upstate PA) and look great. My only annoyances so far are the defuser is hard to clean and very delicate (scratched trying to clean off dust), the night lights are brighter than expected (used LED covering stickers to resolve this issue myself), and we're getting a lot of bugs in the tube. I expected some bugs like any other light, but the volume is crazy and a bit frustrating (this may have been a short seasonal thing - will follow up after more time). Finally, can't hit M&M for this but if VELUX sees this, you're missing a huge opportunity to offer a remote controlled dimmed/blackout shade for rare occasions you want that. This all said, the product is truly transformative to our home and I highly recommend you get one or more.

2) Customer service (5): Great experience with all parties - sales, installers, project manager, etc. They've offered to assist in troubleshooting the last two of my issues above (I haven't mentioned the first) and nothing has been pushed on me or provided not as advertised. Price was very fair so I didn't feel obligated to shop around.

3) Installation: Overall very impressed with the install team and their process. They worked efficiently to get all three installed within maybe 4-5 hours. I did not hear a single complaint about working in a blown insulation attic and they used plastic barriers and tarp walkways to minimize spread of dust/insulation, were polite and informative, made sure to clean up the working spaces, and lined up three sun tunnels for aesthetic benefit on the roof. The only negative on the squad was whoever was last out of the attic - the hatch insulation cover was not closed & zippered, the hatch and back hall were filled with blown insulation, and the lights were left on after closing up the pulldown door/stairs to the attic. All-in-all not the end of the world, just felt like an unfortunate miss when the rest of the cleanup was pretty thorough. Genuinely, they otherwise cleaned/prepped better than 90% of "contractors" I've had do work for us and it was really nice not listening to obscene conversations I've experienced with others. Install itself looks great.

Very professional and courteous. The skylight is a big improvement. Everything was put back and cleaned up. I would highly recommend M & M Skylights.

A few years ago, my family and I were suffering with a couple of 37-year-old hand crank skylights. We had to live with buckets and towels strategically placed in the kitchen and den every time it rained. With one call to Scott at M&M Skylights, our problems were solved. In July of 2022, the M&M team installed two new solar-powered remote controlled skylights: a wonderful convenience AND no more leaks. My wife and I were thrilled with their professionalism, expertise, and politeness.
When we recently learned that M&M also provides maintenance for skylights, we jumped at the chance. Our skylights had been working fine, but why not make sure they continue to do so? As soon as they had an opening in their schedule, Tim , the production manager, fit us in. The very next day, Colin and Sam showed up at our house and went right to work, inside and out, to clean, lubricate, and adjust to make sure everything was perfect.

The three men who replaced my skylights were professional and friendly. They did a magnificent job and even advised me on some work that needs to be done on my roof. I wouldn't have known otherwise!
Every aspect of the experience - from the initial visit to the finish was easy and pleasant.

The job looks OK and so far we haven’t had any issues with the installation. Just be aware that for a single skylight replacement and reroofing of one roof surface, they used two separate crews. On day one, the crew that replaced the skylight did excellent work — very precise and professional. On day two, a subcontractor came, stripped the roof (including around the newly installed skylight), and then reroofed. The quality of the second crew’s work wasn’t quite at the same level and stripping/reroofing AFTER skylight instalation makes no sense.

I would give it 2 1/2 * due to second crews work.

Month later we reroofed entire roof and replaced 4 skylights by Newton Roofing Residential and that work was 5*.

I highly recommend M&M Skylights for installing a sun tunnel! They were on time, efficient, professional and did a great job with clean up! Everything went as planned! The office staff was also pleasant and easy to deal with! Very satisfied!

M&M did a great job replacing two skylights on my home. They were able to offer a broader range of sizes for the skylights that better fit the existing space. Other quotes would have required modifications and additional carpentry. M&M completed the work quickly and cleaned up the space well when they finished. Interacting with installers, customer service, and estimators was efficient and professional. They drove quite a ways out to complete the job and I appreciate that as well.

After 15 years of flawless functioning my VElUx skylights failed. After speaking with VELUX and going through their recommended deactivation protocol, I called M&M. Sue put me directly in touch with Scott, the owner. Recognizing my frustration, Scott drove over 50 miles to our home the following day (a Saturday, no less) and diagnosed and reactivated the skylights. At a time when it is often difficult to connect with a human for service, we found someone with real humanity - not to mention the knowledge and skill to fix our problem. People like Scott and Sue need to be supported, and I hope this review shows them how grateful I am to M & M for going above and beyond for a complete stranger. We are no longer strangers.

I was referred to M&M skylights from the manufacturer's website Velux. From the point of referral through to the end of the job done the entire team was very communicative, professional and overall a pleasure to work with from a service perspective. They were also highly flexible and able to accommodate our need to reschedule due to the fact that we have solar panels on our roof. The solar company was difficult to work with, making scheduling more complicated than it needed to be. We had a bit of a unique case where our skylights were square and very old. (1990) We had tried other places in the past to help us repair them to no avail. They were able to find the right solution for us, and knew exactly what the old skylights were! The replacements are beautiful and highly functional. I would gladly recommend M&M Skylights to anyone looking for skylights for their home.

Great work! I love the bright light coming into my once dark kitchen. The workmanship looks solid. However, upon checking in the attic for potential leaks
( which none were found) i did find a few discarded shipping materials left behind. They should have taken that with them.

Had seven skylights replaced in a log home with a metal roof. Crew showed up on a horribly hot day, on time and ready to go. Couldn't be happier. M&M will do what it takes for that 5 star review.

A Disastrous Experience with M&M Skylights – Proceed with Caution

I recently had a highly disappointing and frankly, disastrous experience with M&M Skylights that I feel compelled to share. My journey began with a straightforward process; I paid a 50% downpayment during an onsite sales visit, where measurements were taken for a new skylight installation in my bedroom. However, this initial promise of professionalism quickly turned sour on the scheduled day of installation.

To my dismay, the installers proceeded based on the initial measurements without re-verifying them. This critical oversight led to a shocking discovery - a dormer and valley on my roof obstructed the designated skylight area, making the installation impossible. But not before they had already cut through my bedroom wall and opened up the roof, leaving me with significant, unintended structural alterations to my home.

M&M Skylights’ response was to patch up the roof and replace the interior wall, leaving the onus on me to handle all the finishing work, including spackling and painting. The situation escalated further when the sizable presence of six M&M vehicles on my property drew the attention of the local building inspector, who identified that M&M had failed to pull the necessary permit for the work. This oversight resulted in a stop work order being publicly posted on my house.

While M&M Skylights did refund my deposit in full, this gesture hardly compensates for the inconvenience, time, and stress this ordeal has cost me. From missing work to dealing with town regulations and the physical labor required to rectify the damages to my home, the fallout from this experience has been extensive.

This entire fiasco could have been easily avoided with proper planning, appropriate site preparation, and basic due diligence in measurement verification. My experience with M&M Skylights has been nothing short of a complete disaster, costing me not just financially but also in terms of time and peace of mind.

I strongly advise against using M&M Skylights. While mistakes happen, the lack of foresight, professionalism, and accountability in my case shows a failure in their basic operational standards. Consider taking your business elsewhere to save yourself from a potentially similar ordeal.

Great company to deal with. Great customer service and the techs who came out were very professional and walked us through on how to use remotes.
Our contractor installed three skylights on our rehab house project but didn't install the solar panels on each light. M&M was able to complete the install very quickly and for a reasonable price.

Installation went very well considering winter snow covering the roof. The installers were courtesy of our property and professional in cleaning up after the installation. They made sure the blinds closed properly before leaving the job site.

I had 2 older skylights removed and replaced with new solar powered shades by M&M . They appear to be a well organized and professional operation from quoting through installation. The installers in particular were excellent, hard working and paid attention to detail. Highly recommend.

We purchased a solar shade for a skylight that was in a new home we purchased. The staff knew exactly what we were looking for based on the limited information I could get from the window and gave realistic timelines as to when we could expect the product and install services. I'm the tenant and the skylight install was scheduled when I would be out of town so I don't know about that portion of the service. I will say having new Skylights has made a tremendous difference on the insulation and climate control within my apartment!

Called M&M Skylights to replace our old velux skylights that had started l leaking with heavy rain fall. They got back to me same day and came with in a week to look at what was going on, gave us a quote by the end of day and our appointment was booked for a month later. The guys who came to do the job were in and out within 7 hours and did an excellent job. They even fixed and the inside framing and painted it where the previous water damage showed up. I have nothing but positive things to say about M&M Skylights. They were incredibly responsive and within 2-3 days we had someone out to inspect the area, give us a quote and get booked. They also gave us a call and were able to get our installation moved up by 2 weeks. The installation crew was also great and interacted with our kids and dogs during their time at the house. We went with a sun tunnel in our extremely dark stairway and it has made such a difference. Now we keep thinking we left the lights on during the day highly recommend this company!

Two part review:
1) bathroom skylight install: Fantastic job (4.5 stars). Quick install, minimal interruption to our work-from-home environment, crew was very friendly and hardworking. Zero complaints.

2) French Door with Screens install: after some considerable delays in starting the project (6 months or so), the initial install of the actual doors was completed in a day (and again, the crew was friendly and hardworking), however the crew reported they were unable to match the stain color in the room and told us 'we'll be back tomorrow'. Well, they never returned. Unfinished door, no screens - a half finished project. We were even willing to have M&M complete the project despite the manifest issues, but after several attempts to contact M&M over the course of several months with no response, we were forced to contact a different contractor to complete the project. In total, it took well over a year to get this project completed from initial quote to new contractor.

Long story short, if you need a skylight replaced - these are your guys. For other projects, I would think twice.

M&M Skylights were great to work with. They provided a quick, easy to read quote and on the day of installation, everything was was organized and the installation was very quick.

It was a pleasure to work with M&M Skylights. They were very responsive when I requested an estimate and signing a contract and paying the deposit was easy via their online system. I had a little bit a of sticker shock at the cost however it's because installing skylights is very labor intensive. They had to install flashing and shingle around every window and also come inside to do the finish work. Everything looks fabulous and you'd never know looking at the roof that these were installed recently.

We had six 35 year old skylights replaced in January and nothing I can say is enough to express how delighted we were with the outcome. The crew was considerate (we had our 15 month old grandson with us) about how they brought things inside. They were professional, neat, cleaned up after themselves and the end result was beautiful skylights that were cleaned inside and out. I cannot say enough about this company or it's crew and the workmanship is magnificent.

Just 6 months ago we realized the trim was loose and when I contacted Scott he sent someone down to repair it. It looks great. The serviceman who came down was beat, considerate, explained what he was going to do and before you know it he was finished!!!

M&M were fantastic. They installed 3 skylights for us and did some structural work to help vault the ceiling. They were always clean, well organized, and did fantastic work. I will definitely call them again the next time when you do install skylights.

M&M were great! Used them to replace old leaky skylights. They were quick to come out for an estimate/diagnosis both times we used them. They removed all debris/old skylights and installed new ones, appropriate for our roof. No more leaks! Thanks M&M!

Very happy with our new skylights. We had two 105 year old skylights replaced. The works arrived on time and did a great job on the installation. We have had several rain storms and, as of now, no leaks.

Pricey products/labor but this company has a great staff that is very knowledgeable about their products and work smoothly and efficiently! The skylights we purchased are a bonus to our room and so far work great!

This week I had my second skylight replaced by M and M skylights. I had one replaced several years ago when I discovered the old skylight was leaking. On both occasions they did a great job and I would give them my highest recommendation. They were professional in every way and do quality work. You can't go wrong with this company.
