We had a exhaust pipe (in a terrible location) on our slate roof causing water to get into the house. It was very difficult to find a company experienced in slate work and willing to do this repair. Most companies brushed me off or wanted to put in a temporary fix. McCarty Roofing was the only company in town that provided an honest assessment and quote for the repair. Contracting them was a no-brainer. They provided excellent service and even made a custom copper pipe boot to fit on the exhaust pipe. Several storms later, I'm happy to say that there is no more water in the house! Thank you McCarty Roofing! We would gladly recommend them to any of our friends.

We initially contracted McCarty Roofing to fabricate two custom-made copper chimney caps. They did such a great job, we kept adding to the list of both needs and even a few wishes. Thoroughly enjoyed doing business with Andrew and his team. Highly recommended, so much so, I won’t be getting quotes elsewhere going forward.

We are remodeling an older home for our retirement place. It has a slate roof and copper accent areas. Because we are not completely full-time locals yet, we really have to trust contractors we hire. Not only did Andrew McCarty and his team do a truly outstanding job, employing traditional, time-tested craft methods, to the last man they were hard-working, courteous, tidy, and efficient.

In all, they repaired some slate areas, replaced the copper fittings all along the ridge line, completely replaced a leaking standing seam copper accent area, and worked with one of our other contractors to add vents and repair some impacted siding and dentil moldings. Additionally, they fabricated and installed a pair of matching chimney caps and fixed some perpetually malfunctioning gutters that the previous roof guys we hired had failed —on repeated attempts— to correct. We were present for the first half of the work but could not be on site for the completion. Andrew happily worked with us, sending us photos and some videos of the work. He was quick to explain the work, the process, the materials and timeframe. All questions were answered fully to our satisfaction and we felt very comfortable with him from the start.

A slate roof does not need replaced for many, many years but, like most things, they require periodic checks and some light maintenance from time to time. We had endeavored to do this, previously working with another company which at first did fine work but then, increasingly, over a span of a few years had delivered poorer and poorer service until the breaking point was their inability to sort out some improperly draining guttering. They did not stand behind what they claimed they did. McCarty’s guys had that problem sorted in a couple hours and double checked the rest of the gutter system to boot after they had expertly taken care of the bigger stuff. It all looks so much more beautiful than I could have dreamed it would! And, it all functions as it should! Imagine that! Even the chimney caps have a lovely understated proportion that blend seamlessly with the chimney.

Our only regret is we did not call McCarty sooner. When we hire people, we expect they are professionals and fully respect them as such. But, we expect the work to be done right the first time and without having to stand over people or turn ourselves into obnoxious pests to just get accomplished what was initially promised. The true test of craftsmanship is that it looks better than you had imagined possible and real integrity is what kind of work gets done when you *aren’t* around. The McCarty guys have it all—professionalism, craftsmanship and integrity. Do yourself a big favor and save yourself a lot of time, hassles, and, in the end, yes, money too, and hire the guys who will happily do it right the first time. And you won’t find yourselves constantly feeling as if you are hassling with knucklehead kids about doing their homework. It will all just get done. What a true pleasure that is! Thank you, Andrew! We had Andrew install chimney caps at our home. They look great! He was very conscientious about the project, making sure it was done correctly, fit our home best, and protected the brick on the chimney. We highly recommend him!

I am impress by quality of work, professionalism of all team members. Craig, owner of the company, visit our site in advance, to make sure that color of the new roof will match roof color of another building on our property. After work, all remnants, cutted pieces were collected. Now we have a perfect new roof.
