Mattsson Roofing

It all started one night during a rain storm and my son said it was raining in his room. Obviously not good. Our roof was old, so we knew it needed to be replaced eventually, but now it was the time. Knowing more rain on the way, I quickly polled friends in town and only one name came up, every time, Mattsson. That was the list everyone gave me, one name, and they did not disappoint.

From the start, I called in a somewhat panic, knowing the existing leak and left a message that evening. The following morning I had a return call from the owner, Erik Mattsson, that quickly. We aligned on a time he could get someone out to look, one of their reps named Robert.

Knowing we needed to replace the roof, Robert came out and explained the entire process as thorough as one could. He was with us for about 2 hours. He crawled around our attic, took lots of pictures and walked through our situation, what we could expect and what he would or would not recommend to do. He gave us a few quotes based on a few different scenarios. Our house has 2 different roofed areas and one area is newer than the other, so he had quoted the whole house, or just a portion, etc. Before he left, however, he got up onto our roof, and hammered down a tarp over my son's room area, and that stopped any leak for the time being, which was unnecessary, but extremely appreciated.

We eventually went with the whole roof option, including gutter replacement with gutter helmets. We live in a heavily wooded area with lots of trees, so we needed something to keep debris out of the gutters.

Given the scope of our work, we heard again from Erik who wanted to take a closer look at a few items to ensure there were no surprises, which I greatly appreciated. He came out and did a walkaround, updated a few items and then on to Craig, our Production Manager.

Craig was basically my best friend for a month. We texted about scenarios and timing. Knowing the size and scope of the project, they worked to accommodate timing that worked best for us at a time when our kids would be away and my wife and our dog would not be around. Given the patch work by Robert, there was no immediate rush, but we obviously wanted to get it over with.

Craig shared lots of details, expectations, answered every question I had, no matter how simple or silly or in depth. He made us feel at ease from beginning till end. He gave us tips on how to keep the attic protected and how best to clean it up afterwards. He was reachable at almost any time of the day or night or even weekends. Really unnecessary, but extremely appreciated.

The project started on a Monday, and the team got to work quickly and efficiently. Steps were taken to ensure our landscaping and the rest of our property was as protected as possible. Given we have a pool, they also made sure to take extra care around it to avoid nails and excess debris from falling in its area. The whole project was about 2 and a half days, and I was constantly getting updates from Craig on how things were progressing. Everything, however, went off without issue. I included some photos Craig took from the roof and from their drone. Of note, after Robert looked at our attic, we decided to replace the entire decking of our main roof, as it was an original roof and the decking was not in great shape. One of the pictures shows the job the crew did leaving a gap for a ridge vent which also eliminated the need to saw through old plywood.

Again, everything was seamless, communication was impeccable and transparency was incredible. I cannot recommend Mattsson enough. Being in the customer service business myself, they truly made me feel like a valued client from the first email even through, after completion. As all my friends said, call Mattsson, I cannot say how right they were. A roof can be a stressful project, but they made it so easy, and cleaned up so thoroughly, it's like they were never even here and now we have a beautiful new roof!

Taking an hour to get on the roof to evaluate, using a drone to take pictures, reviewing all with me with the price to fix. Hearing "It looks worse than it is" is not something you hear often. We called Mattsson Roofing to look at some wrinkled shingles situation of our roof. Rob texted me 15 mins before, arrived exactly on time, clearly explained the process, and started the inspection. Throughout the inspection, he patiently explained to me what he was looking at, what I should pay attention to regarding the heath of my roof, from the attic to the outside, and how to take care of it. At the end of it, I learned my roof is totally fine and he did not try to upsell me anything unnecessary.

When I asked his advice on fixing/replacing our downspouts, he was honest and transparent about when I should hire them and when I should reach out to other companies, from the cost perspective, and I appreciate that.

Overall, Rob is very pleasant to talk to, very respectful, and knowledgeable. Mattsson Roofing probably did a great job training their team to provide the service with good professionalism and respect. Next time if I have any roofing needs, I'll just call them. Highly recommend it!

If you are looking for a roofer and you do not have a lot of time for details, you need not read any further than this first sentence as Erik Mattsson is your guy.

To expand further, I received estimates from several firms for my roof replacement. Hands-down, Erik was the most knowledgeable, the most thorough in his inspection, and the most articulate in explaining all of the above to the customer. Erik‘s confidence is infectious, important when considering an investment of this size. This is literally the roof over your head and not the place to cut corners if you can avoid it. Having said that, the Mattsson estimate was not the highest by a long shot, nor was it the lowest. But in heads up cost comparisons on various project items, Erik’s pricing was nearly identical to his competitors for items like skylights, gutters and gutter guards. Any slight pricing difference was found on the actual roof replacement itself. On reflection, these differences were easily supported by the superior materials offered by Mattsson Roofing, the superior process, and the superior personnel they bring to the assignment, all important and integral elements to the success of the project and to the durable quality of the roof. A good example of the expression "You get what you pay for".

Still, homeowners do not make an investment like this lightly and Mattsson Roofing provides plenty of readily available online videos to help explain various aspects of the project. In addition to being educational for the homeowner, those videos helped to highlight the professionalism that Erik and his team bring to these projects. Maybe this is enough to make your decision, but the depth of Erik‘s organization takes them way over the top making the decision even easier.

For instance, a Site Supervisor is assigned to your project. We had Craig Buurman. Craig took that job title seriously and performed well beyond the expectations of that role. He was always very responsive by text, and during the actual project, he could easily be found on the premises. Craig did not perform his job while sitting in a beach chair on the front lawn. He was up and down ladders observing, documenting, advising, teaching, and yes supervising. Craig readily offered his own vast expertise and even his own manual labor wherever he saw the need. Craig would also periodically fly a drone to take pictures that were then instantly downloaded to the customer to provide an up close and personal view of various aspects of the project as it progressed. I felt like I was on the roof myself! What Erik brought to the bidding process, Craig brought to the actual job experience, in spades!

On many projects, even when the materials used are the same, the real difference is in the people and the skills that they bring to their job. This is a well-run team that also works extremely well with the customer. They were very flexible on scheduling and readily worked with both the customer and Mother Nature. Their preparation on the day before the project was way beyond what many others had proposed, and they were extremely thorough in their diligence of that work. The actual project itself began promptly on the day it was scheduled and extended into the following day, as expected from the start. However, that second day was done and dusted by mid-afternoon, including complete cleanup and crew departure. This provided plenty of daylight for my wife and I to walk around and marvel at the completed project from various angles of the roof, gutters and guards. This inspection also allowed us to marvel at the thoroughness of the cleanup, which is amazing especially considering the amount of debris that is generated by a project of this magnitude.

As they say, this is major surgery on your house but looking at my property today, you would never know that any of the above happened except that my house looks beautiful. It’s nice to feel comfortable in your investment decision and with Mattsson Roofing you will be.

Windy days can cause some problems with an old metal roof on our families' circa 1800 barn! Mattsson Roofing are my go-to people and even though this is such a busy season they managed to fit me in. Two years after purchasing our home, we unfortunately began to noticed minor leaks in the attic coming from nail pops. I came across Mattsson Roofing in a local Facebook group, where the company came highly recommended. After doing my due diligence and getting a couple different estimates, I decided to go with Mattsson for new roof (gutters to be done by a friend at a later date, but they do offer them as well) for many reasons:
1) Initial estimate: while long, was extremely comprehensive and helped me understand everything about the issues I have (besides a few leaks) and all possible solutions. I felt very comfortable with how they operate.
2) Detailed proposal and videos: I was given many pictures of my house, the problem areas, and video resources to understand what will be installed. The project manager also keeps you informed throughout the project with aerial photos, which I loved (pictures attached).
3) The job is done correctly & effort goes above and beyond: These guys will not install a roof over a roof, or simply rip off and replace! They are thorough, answer all questions, care about your house, and treat it as if it were their own. They even helped fasten my loose flashing while they were up there.
4) Punctual: The dumpster, port-a-potty for the crew, and materials all arrived on time, and the project was completed in the timeframe given.
5) Likely the most important: No surprises! Besides needing a few extra sheets of plywood (as I figured), there were no surprises with the final bill. I've heard of horror stories of roofs being taken off only for the owner to get slapped with a bill that's 2x the initial estimate before the new roof on after finding 'unexpected issues'.

Erik (the owner/estimator), Craig (my project manager) and the rest of the crew were incredible from estimate to project completion, and I cannot recommend them enough. I hired Mattsson to do repairs around my chimney and vent pipe. A different contractor did a less than stellar job sealing these areas, and they had started letting in some water.

These company did a very thorough inspection and quote. The crew was very professional and communicated well throughout the repair process. The repairs look neat and well done.

I highly recommend Mattsson Roofing. I’ve used them twice and been very happy with how quickly they respond and how fully they communicate. When you call they call back right away and arrange a time for an estimate. You get a detailed estimate on the spot and an appointment to start work very quickly after that. They come when, and do what they say they will AND they’re friendly and easy to deal with.

Exceptional service, very professional. They replaced a skylight for us on a steep, high roof. Many other roofers didn’t want to do the job or wanted to charge an exorbitant price. Mattson got it done in 1.5 days at a reasonable cost. They made an extra effort to provide drone pictures of the in-progress and finished work, clean up any debris and nails (with a magnet), and resolved any issues quickly and efficiently.

The initial inspection and consultation was thorough, clear and very open without any pushy sales tactics. Pricing was competitive, fair, clear and broken out into each area and provided within a day.
Once the contract was signed we were scheduled fairly fast.
We had a dedicated PM who provided constant updates and progress photos throughout the day. Each phase was clearly shown via drone photos and what was being completed throughout the day.

Mattsson was a pleasure to work with through a stressful situation of a leaking roof. As our roof was incorrectly done 8 years ago, we were not prepared for a large expense but they walked us through various options that would work for us. They were knowledgeable and provided constant communication. The scheduling was great despite having to work around bad weather. I've had to engage with a lot of contractors and home service businesses in all the time I have owned my house and Mattsson is hands down one of the best I have ever encountered. My upstairs bathroom had a leak in the ceiling following a Noreaster and within 24 hours, I had a representative inspecting my roof, assessing the problems and giving me thorough options. Everything was detailed (drone photos!) and they even recommended against pricey options they didn't think I would benefit from. I got thorough documentation, a list of houses they had done so I could even see how the roof colors would look! All the people I dealt with were friendly, polite and super responsive. And everything was handled in a thorough and professional manner, from set-up to clean-up. The pricing was fair and they finished when they said they would! If only all service businesses were like this one. I highly recommend.

We needed help with roof leak and Erik was quick to respond to query, came by next day, did very through inspection by going on roof and in attic, and provided us many pictures of where the leak is and gave us the quote.

On day of the work, his team showed up on time, kept us informed about the progress with multiple pictures, and did all the clean up on completion of work.

a wooden deck. In heavy rain, the water would spill over the gutters, causing damage to the deck
below. On recommendation, I called Mattsson Roofing to see if they could help.
The company was very prompt in reaching out to me and set up a convenient time to analyze the
problem with my present gutter system. It turns that an incorrectly sized gutter was placed that was not
able to handle the slope of my roof combined with the square footage that was present. Mattsson’s
design team figured out a solution, increasing the depth/width of the replacement gutter and added an
addition downspout to carry water beneath the deck. In addition, they found damage to a section of roof
shingles that were in close proximity to the gutters. They were able to show me the damage (via photos
taken with a drone, how cool is that?) They scheduled the roof repair for day one, and said that the
new gutter install will follow the very next day.
Overall, the project went without a hitch. I’ve dealt with numerous companies through my career, but
Mattsson employees truly exceeded my expectations. The estimate of cost was very reasonable
considering the amount of work that was needed to be done, and they kept me informed every step of
the way. The word “professionalism” is truly carried in the hearts and minds of each and every
employee I had the pleasure to interact with. I really can’t recommend them enough. If you have a roof
and/or gutter problem, give Mattsson a call. You will not be disappointed!

Mattsson Roofing was fantastic to work with. They were able to get our new roof completed within a week of speaking. We had a little issue after it was completed but they were back within two days to remediate and reinspect for any other issues (which there were none). We could not have asked for a better experience.

From the first phone call requesting an estimate to the completion of the roof, they could not have been more timely, attentive, knowledgeable or professional. The roof and gutters look amazing! What an exceptional business model.

We needed our roof to be replaced because of damage to it from a recent hailstorm. Erik, the head of the company, spent about two hours here during the initial inspection. That visit entailed (1) viewing the interior and exterior of the home and discussing with me past and present problem areas as a result of ice dams, water leaks and gutter issues, (2) using a drone to take photos of the roof, and (3) going up on the roof to do a close-up inspection which included taking additional photos and measuring the roof pitch in a low slope section. Afterwards, Erik offered several recommendations to help address prior issues that I had in the low-slope section and other problem areas. Erik and Eloisa, the Estimating Coordinator, worked up an extensive and detailed estimate right then and there, then Erik went over it with me with the help of the drone and other photos he had just taken so that I could visualize the plan. From an apples-to-apples perspective, Mattsson’s cost estimate was competitive w/ other estimates I received; however, I felt the plan for the roof that Erik presented was more comprehensive and would provide better long-term protection. I felt very comfortable proceeding with Mattsson for that reason, and because Erik demonstrated a high level of knowledge and expertise, as well as exceptional organizational and communication skills during that initial visit.

The scope of the work, which included replacement of four skylights as well as the entire roof, took about 2.5 days to implement. (Gutter replacement took another 0.5 days and this was done separately by a gutter installation subcontractor retained by Mattsson.) Besides Erik and Eloisa, the Mattsson team included Craig (Production Manager), Mike (Field Supervisor) and Rudy (Controller and Site Supervisor). There was always a site manager onsite when work was ongoing who was responsible for overseeing overall progress and ensuring that safety procedures were followed. Having a designated site manager on the job also facilitated communication between the workers and other personnel when additional materials needed to be brought onsite, and this was done in a timely fashion. When I had questions, these were always responded to promptly via text or phone. In addition, throughout the course of the work, I received real-time updates, which often included drone and other photos, to keep me apprised of the work progress. The cleanup was also very good. My roof was about 2,500 sq ft and a good part of it had a second layer of shingles, so a lot of materials came off my roof. After the cleanup, I walked around the perimeter with a five-gallon bucket in which to place materials that were not picked up and removed. I was anticipating that the bucket would be at least half full of debris, but after I completed my walk, I barely had an inch of debris in the bucket. Very clean indeed!

In addition to the above, Erik was very helpful in reviewing my home insurance company’s roof replacement estimate and providing information to me and my claims adjuster to support my claim. I also received an extensive collection of photos and videos of the job after it was completed, which will no doubt be useful in the future should I need to remember or document what was done. Moreover, throughout the process, every member of the Mattsson team demonstrated exceptional professionalism, courtesy, and pride in their work. Based on my experience, I would wholeheartedly recommend Mattsson Roofing to anyone considering or needing roof repair or replacement.

My wife and I are first time homebuyers and after finding some leaks in our house, we naturally started to research a solution. Mattsson Roofing was recommended by a Facebook group that we joined for our community and we’re glad we found them.
They evaluated our roof in a professional manner that gave us a realistic timeline for our main roof and porch roof. They used drone technology to show us exactly the state of things were and made us feel confident that they were knowledgeable and realistic. Ultimately, we decided to have our porch roof and vent pipe flashing/whatnot repaired and it all when off without a hitch - the porch roof looks great and the vent pipe flashing is secured. They were also very patient with us when we had to get things approved by our HOA and while we were away on vacation. Needless to say, when it comes time to have the rest of our roofing redone, we will be calling Mattsson Roofing first. a tree fell on my house and my first call was to eric @mattson roofing. eric and his crew came to the house to review damage and the very next day he emailed a professional estimate with aerial drone photographs of the roof damage.
they explained the project in great detail and i agreed to the repair estimate. they repaired the damage and sent aerial pictures of the finished roof repair. they explained all the completed work and answered my questions.
