I got quotes and sales pitches from two other roofing companies prior to Pete from Haven coming by. He was immediately different; instead of a sleek slideshow, we walked around the house together and Pete explained what he saw. It was comforting to work with the owner of the company instead of a salesman. Pete was also the project manager— throughout every step of the process, Pete showed patience and knowledge and explained each step well. The project was completed in exactly the time he predicted and for the cost quoted. The roof looks great. I’m recommending Haven to our neighbors.

We hired Haven to replace siding on a section of our house - an older addition that with wood siding that was rotten in several spots due to water damage. We ended up having to re-side the entire addition, which we weren't anticipating but ended up being the best way forward. Pete and his team were fantastic from start to finish: Responsive/proactive, extremely professional, transparent--explained all of our options in detail, fielded any questions--flexible (really ready to do what we asked when we added some work on our garage) and were incredibly detail oriented in their workmanship. They went above and beyond to find creative and smart solutions for any challenging areas and were incredibly thorough with all of the joining and sealing to protect us from water entering. The results are beautiful. It's like a new house! Pete and his entire team were a pleasure to work with. I'd recommend them again in a heartbeat. Also, and this is a small detail but says everything: the dumpster was gone by 7 a.m. the day after they finished!

Pete and the crew at Haven are simply the best. We knew we needed a partial roof replacement but did not understand the why. We determined there was an issue with ventilation, insulation, humidity, soft plywood, and even had to make a change on the spot during the install. I initially called Pete for just a roof leak, he came by and we talked, he did a full roof inspection; it was time for a new one. We decided to then use Pete to do the roof and our siding. He gave us a million different options for colors, materials, looks etc. What he did is give my wife and I a clean slate to make the house look exactly as she wanted it to be. Throughout the process of the roof and siding Pete had an open line of communication with us and not once dismissed anything we said, he listened and then gave us answers. Halfway through the siding being done there was a slight change in plans on our end and we wanted something else added, Pete's attitude towards this was "yea, we can absolutely do that". Breath of fresh air working with someone on a large project such as this and the outlook and attitude always being positive. The crew that did the work was excellent as well. They came in set up, cleaned up daily and made sure we have a usable house throughout the process. The overall process was easy (for us at least, Pete's crew worked pretty hard) and we couldn't be happier with the end result.

I used Haven Roofing for my recent roof replacement which included a full reconstruction on the roof over my two car garage at a new pitch and a new gutter system. Pete was professional, knowledgeable, punctual, and communicative. The end result exceeded my expectations. I am very happy I used Haven Roofing and would highly recommend!

Haven Roofing was a godsend in the ocean of "contractors" and roofing companies out there. Unlike several other companies who provided either a one page or just a quick quote via email, Pete provided me with a multi-page proposal. His proposal included
(1) pictures of my roof and highlighted certain areas within those pictures which required special attention/repairs
(2) proposed a minor modification to my existing roof to eliminate a cause of a current leak and mitigate the potential of it reoccurring (something no other bidder proposed).
(3) Two pages which fully describing the work, materials and how/where the materials would be applied
(4) Manufacturer literature of the specific materials and their specifications which would be used.
(5) Proof of license and proper insurance coverages for roofing services (general commercial and worker's comp)
(6) 10 year workmanship guarantee in writing

Was he the cheapest - no. Was he the most expensive - no. What he was was the most thorough and transparent bidder. I knew exactly what I was getting for my money. Pete was also the only bidder (out of 5) who offered a low slope roof solution with a product (Corning Owens DeckSeal) which the manufacturer warranty wouldn't be voided when used in a residential application like TPO and EPDM (something the other bidders didn't disclose).

Prior to commencing the services, Pete also had his insurance agent send me a certificate of insurance listing me as an additional insured as agreed to. Pete and his crew showed up as promised, did an excellent job and cleaned up after themselves. Pete also invited me to join him on a final inspection to ensure everything was done to satisfaction (yes I went up on the low slope part of the roof). Lastly, he filled out and submitted the necessary paperwork to Corning Owens and I received the warranty directly from them.

Working with Pete was a god send. As a homeowner and former Procurement professional who specialized in professional services, I can't stress enough how imperative is it for every homeowner to ensure your contractor has proper, adequate and current insurance coverage to provide roofing services. The residential roofing landscape, as I found out, is filled with companies who don't have adequate policy limits and coverages, are not covered under their business insurance policies to perform roofing services, lack proper state licensing requirements or even worse, have willful violations of OSHA employee safety laws (willful is very different than a citation).

While choosing a company who doesn't have adequate/proper insurance or hires day laborers may result in a lower cost to you, just remember that if something happens, it is you, the homeowner, who is now exposed financially. Worse, if you hire an unlicensed contractor, your homeowner insurance company can deny coverage and leave you holding the bag for both your litigation and settlement costs.

So why is obtaining a certificate of insurance listing you the homeowner as an additional insured important you wonder? Because if something happens, the company goes out of business and/or poor workmanship is subsequently discovered and the company can't/won't make good, you can file a claim directly to the insurance company who issued the certificate. That's why you will find some contractors are reluctant or won't issue a certificate of additional insured.

Pete and Haven Roofing Company were a pleasure to work with from start to end. When I first started consulting for a roof repair, I outlined my concerns to Pete, who listened and explained in detail the type of work that he recommends. He offered the best quality materials currently available, the best warranty policy, was the only one to consider structural details, and quoted fair pricing for a full roof replacement. After we finalized the agreement, the work basically happened over two days. The crew showed up early in the morning with everything ready to go. I observed the progress along the way and could see that the team had high knowledge of their craftsmanship. I am very satisfied with the work — the roof looks great and the job-site was neatly cleaned up. After the work was done and everything was examined, I wanted some touch-ups on smaller details, by personal preference, and Pete quickly arranged for his crew to come back and resolve everything to my liking. Pete personally came to my home, inspected my roof, gave me some options then completed the job in one day for a great price. We have had roof issues for a while and had a company patch it and was told that it was good but when the rain was heavy and it was windy the issues were there again! I called haven roofing on a friend’s recommendation and I am not sorry! The owner came took pictures and discovered the problems. His proposal was honest and fair-we hired him! Professional, dedicated, honest, polite and hard working. I have a new roof, new skylight and new shed roof. Everything the owner said he would do he did-didn’t skip any corners and used the best products! Cleaned up every night and when they were done which was in the time frame they said they would be my property was neat and clean I feel safe now. We are so grateful to have met Pete! Had an ongoing issue with a small leak in one of our rooms. Multiple contractors offered assessments and remediation with limited results. Pete analyzed the issue with an onsite inspection incorporating drone imaging. He offered 3 potential solutions with a recommendation for the most likely solution. It involved replacing existing roofing and removing part of our siding. His crew was able to reuse the original siding with no damage and the color match for the roof was spot on!
Throughout the process from inspection to job completion Pete was in contact with us. His quote and subsequent follow up material was done timely and professionally. His crew left our property spotless!

The name of this locally owned Roofing Company is "Haven" - I found their ad in the weekly Good Counsel Bulletin and truly think Pete (owner) should have named his company "Heaven". Pete is an extremely hands on owner and was at our house every day making sure things were "perfectly" done. His crew did a fabulous job and were punctual, courteous and NEAT throughout the process.
One other thing I would to mention (you may not think it is not important) but to me taking the dumpster and port-a-john off my driveway the morning after the roof was completed as promised was HUGE and we totally appreciated the removal.
We love our roof and couldn't be happier with Pete and his crew.
