Having Mattra spray foam the entire roof deck of our 2600 sf home was one of the best investments I’ve ever made. The cost was made manageable with the rebates from Efficiency Maine. The combined effect of having had the spray foam completed the same year that we had a masonry built meant that the house has been warm and heated nearly exclusively with wood during this colder than average winter (one room is heated with a heat pump, as it has no access to either wood stove or furnace ductwork.) Everyone on the Mattra team has been phenomenal!

Mattra insulated my attic to perfection, removing the old ineffective fiberglas & installing much more appropriate material. They were pleasant, efficient, and super-helpful throughout the process. The entire crew was terrific! On schedule, on estimate, superlative in every way, including communication. Highly recommended!

Nearly my entire experience with Mattra was terrible. This is the first time I've ever been moved to actually write a review, but the totality of the circumstances warrants it.

We were purchasing a home that had a small area of mold that required remediation. We negotiated with the sellers for Mattra to provide a quote to remediate the mold, during which time, we specifically told the Mattra technician that we wanted to be sure that any underlying issues were repaired so that the mold wouldn't return. The quoted price for that work was then credited to us as closing. Mattra provided the quote, but then told us after closing that they were sure, based on the scope of work, that the mold would return. In other words, they failed to address the EXACT issue we raised with them. According to Mattra, to make sure the mold did not return, a whole additional scope of work was required (but which, of course, was not included in our closing credits). This, in turn, cost us thousands of dollars.

Then, still needing the remediation, we tried to schedule. Despite me asking to be put on the schedule and being provided with a date (and thus clearing our calendars), no one showed. Mattra then told us that to secure that date, we needed to first sign the contract and pay a deposit. We would have been happy to do so, but this was only ever mentioned after they failed to show.

Still requiring the remediation, we rescheduled. This time, they showed up, and then promptly hit a tree in our neighbor's yard. Once they started work at our house, they told us-- again, for the first time-- that we shouldn't be home during their work. That left us scrambling to find a place to go with our child who was unfortunately sick at the time.

Look, I have no idea whether the work this company does is good. The entire experience certainly doesn't instill confidence. But maybe they're good at what they do. In totality, though, I'd use any other company rather than deal with Mattra again.

The guys at Mattra Inc are the best! Matt, the owner, was courteous and highly knowledgeable about the situation I had going on in my basement! Between the mold and all the drafts, I was really worried. But he set my mind at ease quickly and was true to his word about what needed to be done and how much it was going to cost. The crews themselves were very polite, worked quickly, and really cleaned up well after themselves. Everything was done on time and at the price quoted. My basement is so much warmer and no longer stinks! I can't recommend this company enough!

Mattras insulated the walls of my home. Everyone I dealt with at Mattra was polite and respectful. The estimator came quickly and the crew did the work within a few weeks. After they completed the work, I was concerned that they may have accidentally skipped a section of a wall. They came and did a quality control check with a thermal camera and sent a crew back to beef up the few areas that were a little thin in insulation. They even offered to fill in a thin section in my attic that a different company I hired a few years previously had missed, for no additional charge! I've worked with 3 different insulation companies over the past five years in insulating all the sections of my home, and Mattras stands out as the best! I would hire them again in a heartbeat. They are the best and a joy to work with.

Thank you to all the Mattra employees for doing a great job insulating our Bethel home. Now that the cold weather has arrived we've been keeping the thermostat much lower because the house feels tighter and is no longer drafty. What a difference! Elisabeth was in contact with us throughout the process about dates and times and also to file the necessary paperwork to get the state rebate. The insulators who came were professional and tidy. The man who tested before and after the job was great, too. Thank-you Mattra -- we're looking forward to returning to a warm house after fun in the snow this winter!

John came to my house for an Efficiency Maine insulation quote in my 2 year old mobile home. He could have sold me something that I didn’t need….i know nothing about insulation. He was honest and told me that I didn’t need any additional insulation! Someone else might have sold me and Efficiency Maine an insulation job and made a nice profit! Thank you for being an honest business!!

A great experience from start to finish. This is a professional company with a great crew that understand good customer service, responsiveness and show up when they say they are going to be there. The onsite crew worked very hard, got the job done on schedule and were very pleasant to work with. I highly recommend Mattra for your insulation project.

These guys came through the Efficiency Maine list and we are so glad we chose them. They assessed quickly and helped us shore up our insulation and air sealing. They handled most of the paperwork and they have a great crew who did a heck of a job cleaning up after they were done. Highly recommend.

John and his crew remediated our basement. It was not an easy task, but he persisted until the test showed the mold was cleared. John was very responsive, sent Safety Data Sheets for all of the products used, was willing to use one we requested and responded kindly and respectfully to concerns and changes in the plan. This company has not only helped me personally, but also my clients numerous time. We recently got our basement spray-foam insulated and WOW what a difference! Very pleased with project that Mattra completed at our home in Auburn. Everyone we dealt with from John on the front end to the crew that did the work, to Kelli in the office was very helpful and professional. They handled my endless questions and even a few mid-project scope changes with ease.

We’d had concerns about air quality since purchasing our home 2 years ago, as I found myself sensitive to scents in different parts of the house but mainly the basement. John came out late November 2022 and completed mold detection testing for us; our air tested as good and I learned the difference between “mold” and “moisture” smells haha. John was not only personable, professional and knowledgeable, he was patient and able to explain/answer any questions we came up with, and has been an available for clarification questions ever since. I would choose Mattra again and recommend them highly!

John was absolutely incredible. I was stressing out and thinking a certain smell in the back room was mold related. John was able to come out and take a look, ease my fears that the smell was NOT mold (just new carpet smell and stale cigarette smell from previous owners). He helped me determine the next steps to kill and eradicate the small mold issue I did have. He was very knowledgeable and kind, and I really appreciated how fast he responded to my call. If I ever need help again, he’ll be the first person I contact!

I had never been involved with an interior mold problem. Mattra came out diagnosed the problem, and I quickly had a quote for remediation. I had guests coming within the next week. They fit me into their schedule and within a few days my mold problem was gone. I highly recommend the folks at Mattra, very professional organization.

First of all, finding out that your house that’s for sale has mold is a panic situation.
Granted, mold can be dangerous, and a buyer doesn’t doesn’t want to accept the contingent health hazards.
However, the “mold remediation” industry, at large, is quick to take advantage of a homeowner and quote exorbitant fees for their services while exaggerating the extent and scope of the problem.
I arranged for three estimates from mold remediation companies. One quoted me $6,000 with an ancillary additional fee for the laboratory report. The second company quoted me somewhat less but the laboratory testing fee was $700.

Enter John Crafts of Mattra. He was professional, courteous, and gave me an excellent assessment of the problem while reassuring me that the problem was years in the making and not a nuclear disaster. In addition to putting my mind at ease, he assured me that the problem could be easily rectified at a quote that was reasonable and which included the laboratory fee.

Subsequent to his work, I was provided with a detailed final report, including pictures, that confirmed that the mold problem was eradicated.

As a home seller with little experience in dealing with a mold problem and ,feeling at the mercy of the situation and the experts, I strongly recommend Mattra and particularly John Crafts to anyone in a similar position.

Our house went under contract and during the home inspection it was discovered our attic had mold. John Crafts at Mattra was recommended to us for mitigation and we called him on Friday. On Saturday morning he was at our home and provided us a quote for what needed to be done. He was able to schedule our work very quickly in order for us to meet our closing date. He was professional, always available for questions or concerns and met every commitment he made to us. The men who came to do the work were awesome and worked efficiently and were so neat you would have never known they were there. It was a pleasure working with John and his crew.

Top notch service and outcomes. They were knowledgeable and friendly on first interaction over the phone. They offered free advise and suggestions up front with no strings attached. After engaging their services all went very smoothly, from scheduling the appointments to the work they performed assessing and remediating some mold build up in the bathroom and laundry room ceilings. We hired Mattra to remedy a mold problem in a house we just purchased. They came in right away and determined that the bathrooms of the house were insufficiently vented to the outside, as well as that the ridge vent was of the wrong type. Greg and Mike came in, removed the affected insulation, cleaned and sealed all affected areas and replaced the inadequate ridge vent. Proper venting of the bathrooms was done in collaboration with our electrician. Both, Greg and Mike were working very hard and determined, as well as with great competence. We are very happy with the result and with the professionalism of the Mattra employees. We do not hesitate to recommend them to all who are in need of high quality and reasonably priced mold remediation.

We had a great experience using Mattra to clear up a mold problem in our attic. John Crafts and his crew dealt with the problem in a timely fashion and their estimate was right on point. We hired Mattra Inc. to assist us with some issues that we were having with our heating system. I spoke with Matt over the phone and arranged an onsite consultation. He was very proffesional and friendly on the phone. He arrived on time and was very helpful with addressing the issues that needed to be fixed. His team performed the job well and on budget. I am glad that I hired Mattra and would hire them again.

I am glad that I hired Mattra Inc. for my mold remediation job. I bought a home and after living there for a few months was surprised to find that there was mold growing in the attic. I got an estimate from two different companies. Mattra's price was the lowest so I chose to move forward with them. John provided me with a thorough estimate and explanation of the work that they were going to perform. He and his staff were on time, polite and very proffesional.

In all fairness they didn't not perform any work for me. I had two sizable jobs quoted for me by John Crafts (who is also present in the reviews <?>) who is the mold portion of the business. The two jobs were needed for a home I was buying in Portland. John was excellent at his portion of the work. He came and looked at what he though needed to be done and was responsive. Honestly I would have hired him; however, Matt who was the other part of the needed work and the owner quoted on a significant foundation repair that was needed. He would only quote on the photographs taken by John and refused to come and actually look at the foundation himself with out being paid first. Since he's not a structural engineer I'm not sure why. I simply asked him to please come and look at the foundation to make sure the quote I had based on pictures was accurate. He was rude and dismissive and told me he would not be working with me. I glad it happened early in the relationship and I don't recommend dealing with this organization.
