I didn’t have the biggest remodel project but it was a big change for me. The kitchen profile was kept the same, I replaced the cabinets and appliances and ended up having to refinish the wood floor. All the workers were very good, polite and
respectful.
That said, I wouldn’t say everything was perfect, but I also didn’t expect it would be. Things happen, especially with remodeling projects. All in, I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Maize to friends and family.

Operations manager and office staff are very friendly and accommodating.
Job foreman-some issues during job progression, lack of communication several times and was hard to work with at times. Contract understanding was a bit difficult, but they were willing to explain and were willing to make sure we were comfortable with it before the whole process began.
All in all, kitchen remodel final results exceeded our expectations.

Our kitchen and bathroom both needed serious updates, and Chase made the process easy from day one. He gave us great advice, stayed within our budget, and delivered an incredible final result. We now have spaces that are not only beautiful but also built to last.

Maize did an amazing job on my kitchen flooring! I had the space retiled with an electric heated flooring system, and the results are absolutely beautiful. The crew—Dilai, Ronaldo, and others—worked incredibly hard, and their attention to detail really shows.

One thing I really appreciated was the detailed quote I received before the project started. It clearly outlined each cost and the reasoning behind it, which helped me understand exactly what I was paying for.

The only issue I encountered was with communication from project management. It was inconsistent at times, which was frustrating given the scope and cost of the project. However, when I brought this up to my salesperson, James Perez, and Maize’s president, Chase Piedra, they responded with excellent customer service and made appropriate cost adjustments. I especially want to recognize James—he went above and beyond, checking in regularly throughout the project, even while out of state, and even though that wasn’t technically part of his role.

All in all, I'm thrilled with how everything turned out and would absolutely work with Maize again on future projects!

Very long story short - I'm very happy with the end result. My little home is beautiful and people are blown away by the transformation.

I had a lot of frustrations and complaints during the process with how things were communicated up front, the expectations that were set, the payment structure which seems misleading at best, and how the process actually worked. They really need to work on those things.

But Jen, the project manager they assigned to my project was a standout rockstar. There were issues, she handled it. She was fair and honest. Also their contractor Junior was a joy to work with. In fact, everyone I worked with were all very nice people.

Challenges came up as could be expected and other things that were not expected, but a lot should have been. I put that on the owner - it's his business to know and plan for, to set realistic expectations. And though I like him very much, the process, beyond how inherently difficult it would already be, soured my feelings.

I could go into pages and pages of detail but google's already cut me off twice. I'll just say the result was 4.5 stars, but the process was unnecessarily 2.5 - 3 stars despite Jen's heroic efforts. (She is a treasure, for sure, though)

I recommend people read the financial paperwork carefully and ask questions. I recommend Maize provide a prep guide - after all, customers dont know what to expect how to prepare, but Maize should. In lieu of that, I recommend people put everything in storage. E v e r y t h i n g. I recommend future customers think of themselves as partners in the process - stay on top of stuff, communicate. I recommend knowing what you want. I provided a clear design vision and had a specific aesthetic I was going for and they nailed it for which I cannot express how pleased I am with that.
Ultimately though, would I recommend Maize? Yes. In the end, despite a difficult process, I really love the way my little house looks. And it was a team effort so I thank everyone involved.

Worked with Maize for a kitchen/entire first floor reno.
They were very professional and prompt with responses. Spoke with James from the start, got the initial ball rolling. Chase came to the house to go over main plans/quote. Once that was decided they started within the next month and half.
They stayed within timeline and budget. Though, as predicted there were a few hiccups that were unforeseen until demo was completed.
Jennifer was the project manager for me. She communicated thoroughly, called/texted daily with updates and what was happening on the day to day, week to week- who to expect at the house, when inspections were happening, etc. Junior and the other onsite crew were great and respectful of the space.
At the end of the project, James came to see the final outcome and do a survey.
The entire Maize crew were great and very communicative throughout the project, always willing to answer questions and pause to ensure I had a full understanding what needed to be done.

Chase, James, and Jennifer and their crews did a wonderful job on our new second floor laundry room! Our house is a bit old (1927), small, and quirky, and they approached every surprise with patience. They were all incredibly pleasant and easy to work with, and we are so pleased with the result! We have a few more projects in the pipeline that we really hope Maize can help us with in the future.

We recently had an addition built onto our home by Maize Construction, and we couldn’t be happier with the results! From start to finish, their communication was excellent—always keeping us informed and addressing any questions promptly. DO NOT HIRE. We should have known after they no-showed our pre-construction meeting. But at that point we had shelled out $5500 for a “comprehensive project evaluation” where the owner Chase didn’t listen at all to what we wanted and we felt stuck going forward or we would lose our $. We were supposed to be under contractor Eddie but at the last minute were switched to Chase’s little brother, Andrew, as the contractor, and let me just say, his online reviews spoke for themselves and I should have refused to work with him. Not that he ever really showed up to check on things after the first week and didn’t communicate how we asked him to (email) until after the project was basically done. But he made a fuss when I communicated with the subcontractors who were constantly in my house bothering me with questions while I was trying to work from home and when he wouldn’t respond to me. He regularly forgot to invoice us, and still hasn’t sent us our last invoice despite our project being “finished” 3 months ago.

We had problems with basically every subcontractor. Plumber’s apprentice didn’t listen to his boss and cut a hole in the middle of our closet floor before double checking what the plan was or talking about alternatives. Didn’t tell us what he was doing or when, so we weren’t able to move all of our baby gifts and he just did his work on top of our unborn baby’s clothes and toys getting spray foam and debris all over everything. Ruined the stain on the wood floor of the closet too and just generally made a mess around the house everywhere he went.

We really liked how thorough the electrician was at first and ended up having to expand the scope of the work to remediate our remaining knob and tube which we were happy to get done. But then he showed up unannounced weeks after the project had been substantially completed to finish one last small thing and used our spare key to let himself into our house and didn’t say ANYTHING until he was standing behind me at my office door and I was in the middle of a visit with a patient, whoaaa boy THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT OKAY.

We were supposed to have a $700+ final cleaning the day before our housewarming party to show off the new bathroom, confirmed by Andrew himself and guess who no-showed that too?? My family spent 12 hours cleaning up all of the construction area and then Andrew had the nerve to say we weren’t supposed to have a cleaning that day. We had the email records of him confirming the date and time of the cleaning which is why I had demanded to communicate through email in the first place because Andrew couldn’t keep track of anything. He blamed the Tile Shop for losing our order because it took him over a month to pay for it and get it processed.

After the project was “substantially completed” we were asked to provide a punch list of the things that needed to be finished or fixed, so we did, and my husband spoke with Andrew and came to an agreement about how and what would be handled. Andrew and Julio then came and did 2 of the 5 things agreed upon, ruined the stain on our hand-built antique vanity in the process and broke the wires on our brand new washing machine stacker kit rendering the unit controls unusable. Andrew then proceeded to ignore two emails over the course of the month asking when they were coming back to finish things.

Nelson and his team were the only good thing about this project. Nelson’s eye for detail caught things (like a really bad paint job) before I could even bring it up, and he was consistently paying attention to things that needed to be fixed. He truly cared about the outcome of the project whereas Andrew clearly did not and Chase was not involved at all despite being copied on every text and email.

I think I can sum up Maize’s overall ineptitude and lack of attention to detail by telling you that they put up a construction advertisement sign several weeks after the project was done, in our NEIGHBORS yard instead of ours. Not that I would want to advertise their work even if they had gotten it right.

They fully gutted and remodeled our primary bathroom, closet and also bedroom. It’s been over 6 month since they finished and it’s all still perfect. The finished product is what I just what I wanted. As with all contractors you have to be really clear about what you want but they listened well and adjusted when needed.

Working with Chase and James was a great experience. My Mother and I had not done a project like this before and we were talking with a few contractors and a family friend, to see what would be our best route. Although we did not ultimately work with Maize Restoration on this project, we were able to spend a significant amount of time with Chase on the planning process and financial implications. Chase and James exhibited professionalism, a wealth of knowledge and compassion while my mother and I struggled in our own process. If there are any needs in our future for additional projects we will certainly go to James and Chase. We would feel very comfortable in recommending them to anyone doing any restoration projects or additions.

From the initial phone call I had with James he was so excited to talk about my project and hear me out on what I had in mind before even meeting me was nice.

He and I made a meeting for the upcoming week and everything from the evaluation of my home to just the getting know each other was a great experience!

They show the proposal for the job in a line item so I knew where every dime I spent went and it’s like I said before very transparent which never changed throughout the entirety of my remodel.

I had been searching for the right company to do my kitchen/bath remodel and the moment Maize Restoration walked into our home I knew I had a found the right company. Chase listened to all our ideas and helped us understand what it would take to achieve them. They gave us a plan detailing every step of the process with timing for each step and an outline of costs for our remodel. Carlos and Jennifer were our project coordinators, and they were incredible every step of the way. Any issues that came up with our old house were immediately addressed and dealt with. They have an incredible team of talented craftsmen who were professional, kind, clean and went above and beyond every single day they were here. We did our bathroom and kitchen at the same time which could’ve been a nightmare, but somehow they were able to not only finish our project in 6 weeks, but exceeded our expectations. We decided to keep our 18 year old kitchen cabinets and just have them painted and I was concerned they may not look great but I cannot say enough about how incredible they look, better than they did when they were brand new! The painting in both our kitchen and bath is nothing short of extraordinary. This is the first remodel I’ve ever been involved with and I had so many questions along the way and Carlos and Jennifer were always available and quick to respond with whatever we needed and made the whole process so much easier. Their professionalism and diligence was greatly appreciated and I look forward to hiring them again for our next project. We Love our New Bathroom
Maize completely transformed our original 1959 bathroom, replacing the bath with a walk-in shower. Every member of the Maize team was a delight to work with and went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied. We particularly appreciated the willingness to include additional home upgrades in the project. These included replacement of several doors, two windows and a shed door and the framing of a hall closet. We also were very grateful that the work was completed within a tight schedule before guests arrived from overseas.
Everyone was great, with a special call out to Sandy, in the office for her kindness and patience, Carlos for his craftsmanship and going out of his way, Jennifer for keeping us updated and for juggling multiple projects with friendliness and grace, Christian for his hard work, Hugo for his beautiful tiling and Chase for his professionalism and efficiency in setting the project in motion.

Do not waste your time, money, or patience with this company. Our six week project for a small bathroom turned into a six month project, with so many avoidable problems along the way it is impossible to name them all. Here are a few of the less favorable memories: The first day of demolition they did not put up any sheets or doorway coverings, which they had spoken about at length in initial meetings, and left a thick cover of dust over the entire first and second floor of our house. They were going to have a “cleaner” come to take care of it, but instead the subcontractor “dusted” on the second day of work as opposed to actually getting moving on the bathroom remodel (it was not cleaned). The first tiler they brought into our home at 10am on a weekday was so drunk that he had urinated on himself. The next tiler they brought in did not use tile spacers the first time, nothing was lined up, and then had to redo all of it, which significantly delayed the rest of the project. The plumber (Theodore Batsinelas) told us not to say anything about the fact that he wasn’t doing the work, and instead had two (possibly unlicensed) workers doing everything without him even there to supervise. The workers scratched the brand new hardware, and did not line up the handles to be symmetric. They also tried and failed over a period of weeks to make the shower pressure and temperatures correct. At one point the subcontractor, George, created a temporary shower (plastic liner, old shower head) and seemed to expect us to think it was the greatest thing… But we had initially been told we would have a fully functional shower within two weeks. We went without a functional shower (even a makeshift one) for over a month. They did not measure the spacing of the toilet, vanity, and shower appropriately and then tried to charge us extra when they had to move the toilet because they hadn’t measured it in the first place. We paid a premium price for quality work and to avoid headaches, but instead had a truly traumatizing experience.

We hired Maize Restoration & Remodeling, inc to renovate our kitchen and bathroom and to put in new floors in our apartment. We are very pleased with the level of professionalism and their work. we were not the most experienced in doing renovations and the team was really helpful in every respect. . We are really glad we went with Maize Restoration & Remodeling, inc and highly recommend using them.

We hired them for our o condo bathroom renovation. They were professional, courteous and knowledgeable about renovating a century old building. They completed the project on schedule and took care in containing dust and debris from the rest of the apartment. The project manager was a pleasure to work with, always available to answer questions, kept us up to date on the schedule, and knows construction. The tile work and shower were exceptional. We would recommend them.

We hired Maize to convert a sunroom to a small bathroom on the first floor. The finished product looks really good and are very happy with the way that it came out. Downside: we were quoted a time of 4-6 weeks for the completion of the project and it was finished in 18 weeks (19 if you count the extra week it took to have the dumpster removed from our driveway). Daniel was our project manager and was responsive when we asked for updates, however we wish there would have been more communication to us with delays.

They gave my bathroom and kitchen a brand new look. The best facelift I could ever ask for! Thank you for the job well done. Recommended!

It was a great experience having a guys from Roofing with Mazie come inspect our roof and provide us with an estimation for the repair which we direly needed done. The project manager ensured that the did the repair with utmost expertism to prevent future repairs that could easily be avoided.

Did my entire roof including stripping of all old roofing down to decking in one day Roof was just over 39 squares of shingles. They were very responsive to questions before and during the job.

We worked hand by hand with Levy we found him and his team to be the most detailed oriented, resourceful and helpful people in each and every professional aspect area when it came to the remodeling project of our kitchen, bathrooms and few other spaces. We started the remodeling process 2 months ago and we remodeled the entire house section by section based on a detailed plan that was set by them and that fit perfectly to our needs. We were very excited with the outcome results! Bryan and Scott we the 2 main people that handled the entire work and we worked hand by hand with them during the entire work and we feel secured to write here that we are looking forward to hire and work with them again mainly with Bryan and Scott on our next remodeling project.

Mr. Piedra and his team were very professional, accommodating, organized, and did great visible work throughout the project. Activities were explained in detail, and scheduled commitments for the various projects proceeded generally on time. Small changes were discussed and closed real time. At all times the crew were professional, courteous, and neat during and leaving our home; in short excellent workers. At one point, changes needed to be made on work for the windows. The discussion was open, honest with satisfactory results both in the project and with Mr. Piedra working directly with the Insurance Company to process the changes and approvals. There was continuous follow up throughout the job to ensure our needs were being met; which is very important over a project spanning a few months. I would absolutely recommend Maize Restoration and Remodeling for any home remodeling project.
