About 6 years ago, hired this contractor to put in a wood stove to the tune of almost $5,000. Shortly after the install a seem in my ceiling started to crack. I'm a first time homeowner..what did I know? I didn't think it was related. So I hired someone to tape mud and paint...every year. Well this year.. I got a leak. The short of the long of this story is that when the contractor put in the wood stove, he had to cut through my rafter..which is fine except he didn't head it off resulting in it being free floating. This free floating rafter was moving and causing my sheet rock to crack.. I called, e-mailed and facebooked this contractor with no response..so I had to hire another contractor to fix it...and my ceiling, again, needs to be redone and I had to deal with the leak. This has cost me three times the amount and double the heart ache. Photos during part of the repair included..note the sunlight coming through the hole around the chimney and the hack job nails sticking out of everywhere for no reason.
